SA to face Zambia in Cosafa Castle Cup final in Blomfontein

Share

The final of this years COSAFA Castle Cup between South Africa and Zambia will be played on October 24 in Bloemfontein.

According to the kickoff website who quoted a Safa official today, the game will be played at Vodacom Park at 19:30 local time.

The development ends a confusion over this years tournaments final date due to South Africa’s congestion international fixture list towards the end of this month.

Zambia beat Mozambique 3-0 to reach the final while South Africa were 1-0 winners over Botswana in the other semifinal doubleheader match played at the same venue on September 29.

Zambia are the defending champions after beating Angola 2-0 on October 21 last year in Lusaka.

  1. No matter what SA/BB do to frutrate Zambia, the Cup is ours to keep. Chipolopolo will have to teach BB a great soccer lesson. The 3-1 was an intro but we have to take care of this final business and silence BB once more. The harder they come, the harder they will fall.

  2. hey people whats your comment on kalaba snr accusing referes that their trying to frastrate his boy.

  3. # 3 Bernard – My view is that Mr. Kalaba Snr. shoul instead help in producing a disciplined Kalaba on and off the football pitch. He might be a displined child in his father’s house, but taunting supporters is a serious offence and the referees are right to discipline a player. In europe, the Football Associations are the first to sanction and discipline a player for taunting supporters because it can easy lead to ‘riots’. Remember El Hadji Diouf and how thje FA acted. I am even surprised that it had to take the RAF presient to call for disciplining Kalaba, while FAZ remains aloof and done nothing to sanction the club and player.

  4. The South Africans are trying all their tricks to beat Zambia. It has always been known that Zambia does not play well under flood lights and this is exactly what COSAFA has done. It is no excuse however for Zambia not to do well under flood lights. We need to train under flood lights so we can adapt to what we shall be facing on October 24 in Bloemfontein. Remember guys this win shall be big because we play on our independence day. Cheers guys

  5. This is just desperation from South Africans. Why didnt they just play the game here in Jozi on a saturday afternoon. Whats wrong with that.I know they want to isolate the visiting team to a ‘remote’ place like Bloem. But whatever the case, we will travel there.

  6. Kemps and Billy, any special travelling arrangements to Bloemfontein for SA based Chipolopolo fans??. Please keep us updated. BB will be humuliated further.

Emmanuel Zulu’s father said a similar thing when ZANACO complained about emmanuel’s indescipline.Whin ashort time the youngman’s career was cut short due to his truant ways.He is noe languishing in kabwata and passing time in Chibuku dens. The same fate will before Rainford and his father will be the ultimate loser.

  8. Citizen #12 i agree with you, i remember Emmanuel Zulu’s Father coming to the defense of his son when the young man was mis-behaving. Instead of advising the son Mr.Kalaba senior is defending his behavior. How can all these referees target him 4 or is it 5 red cards in one season! Then poking a finger at the opposing Supporters is a red card especially if its the middle finger.Though i don’t know what Finger Rainford used in the Coke Final.

Otherwise the young man is very talented. He just needs to be disciplined.

  9. its sad when talented players like ba emma end languishing in kabwata.i remember we used to drink beer with emmanuel zulu at american pie here in atlanta, all he told me then was that his agent was looking for a team for him in poland.

  10. that nigga( kalaba) should have been given a red card, nkana supporters back home teach that little punk some leason

  11. It is things like these which makes us wish our man ,Kalusha Bwalya was in charge of COSAFA.RSA voted for a yes sir man and they are able to get away with things like these. 24 th Oct is our independence day and for us to play on this day is ridiculous. FAZ will be foolish to accept this date. Do we imagine that Zambia can ask SA to play a cup final at one of their prestigious holidays? i dont think so. SA has never had an interest in COSAFA and they dont care about it. Maybe it is time we started organising this event without them in mind. if they wish they can play if they dont then they dont. Please COSAFA respect our independece day.it is not like Christmas or womens day etc, this is Zambia’s Day and it has to be respected it. we cant play on this day

  12. I totally agree with # 16 if FAZ agrees with this decision then we are doomed.Playing at 19:30HRS in Bloemfontein tells you a story of how SA feels about COSAFA cup.We shud just not agree with what they say. Independence day is our sacred day and we shud not be having our boys playing a serious game out of the country. If SA has a busy schedule we should wait until they are finished. we can even play it next year.Playing on October 24 is a no no for me and i believe this applies to all patriotic Zambians

  13. I agree with #16 and #17. It is morally wrong for COSAFA to change the date without consulting FAZ. Even if the sponsors are from SA, accomodating SAFA’s interests at FAZ’s expense is totally unacceptable. Zambia should also be respected as defending champions and three time champions. FAZ should file a formal complaint to COSAFA so that we won’t have a soccer ‘dictator’ in the region. Any way guys let it be, we will show them that soccer is played on the pitch and not by using unfair dirty tricks. Who knows, it would be an icing on the cake for our independence celebrations. Good luck Chipolopolo guys.
