Mr Malila said this during the official launch of the Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) Advocay and Legal Advice centre ALAC,in Lusaka last night.

The attorney general further noted that ALAC will provide a free charge avenue for members of the public to report corruption , seek advice and create confidence in those seeking solutions.

Mr Malila observed that his office remained open to constructive dialogue with stakeholders on how to entrench a comprehensive and robust fight against corrution by promoting good governance.

Speaking eariler, Anti-Corruption Commission ACC, Deputy Director General Ms Rosewin Wandi said the fight against corruption can not be effectively waged by the ACC alone but requires concerted efforts from all sectors in the country.

Ms Wandi noted that ALAC has the potential to contribute to the prevention and combating of corruption in Zambia.

She further noted that the advocacy centre can productively carry the message of corruption prevention to the entire population as staff can inform and educate the citizens about the negative effects of corruption.

And Transparency International Zambia,TIZ president Ruben Lifuka, said ALAC chapter is number 25 worldwide where citizens can seek advice, propose and report corruption cases to TIZ.

Mr Lifuka disclosed that ALAC has so far received 173 complaints from the public adding that 70% of the clients who make reports are victims while 23% are whistle blowers while 7% are witnesses.

Mr Lifuka said the objective of ALAC is to promote great transparency and contribute to the reduction of opportunities of administrative corruption by empowering citizens to take action against the vice.

  1. There is hardly anything that our goverment will do without collaborating with foreingn forces. We honestly don’t need any foreign partners to come and pin point who is toping the list of corrupt practices. Zambians Know and understand much better who are the most corrupt of our generation. Corruption in Zambia runs from plot1 down all the way to the councillors and we dont need any expert Knowledge for us to know that. Incoparating foreign experties is a clear indication to show that…

  2. continued From #1
Mr LPM has completely failed his erand to fight corruption. This dependance syndrome to look elsewhere even for the things we understand much better should come to end. It is ridiculous and waste of resources. We have a goverment which is not sure of what it is upto. Nowonder we can even hire foreign experties to negotiate for mining royalties a thing which is not expected at all. Where are your brains guys!!!

  3. “2”You are so right. We no all about corruption,it makes you wonder why we have to get others involed, when the come up with somthing we complain why are foreingn doing in our courts. For godsake get these courts in order fasttrack these cases.Do something. It makes me sick how we cant stand on our own everytime we keep running to the west for every little thing, then we think we can do without them. Can we really?LAW LAW IS WHAT WE NEED IN ZAMBIA.

  4. I guess this war on corruption is really getting heated up. Can anyone tell me why I need to go to the US for help when it is painfully obvious that the people who have aquired wealth under dubious circumstances should have paid TAX. Where in heavens name is ZRA ? Where is ACC ?

Come on Ba Levy surely we can do better than this! Ala bafiya..

  5. “4”We got lucky. But still home is home if only the simply little things in life can work.like the police, courts, lands in fact everything in zambia is just geared to fustrate you up to the point of wanting to kill someone.God help us.HOW LONG ARE WE GOING TO OIL PIPO?COME ON ZAMBIA LETS DO THIS ON OUR OWN.STARTING FROM PLOT ONE.JUST GIVE ME THE POST I WOULD KICK A**

  6. I am sorry to bring this, but after reading this article, do still think the World Bank is for Africa Development?

  7. Bank mulls Africa role with China: China will back the bank’s international development arm. The head of the World Bank, Robert Zoellick, has agreed with China to develop joint aid projects in Africa. China has been criticised over its condition-free aid and lending to the continent, as it seeks energy sources and raw materials for its industries. Mr Zoellick, ending a four day trip to China, said he had discussed the need for Beijing to now not lend more to African nations than they could repay

  8. Can someone tell me why a lot of Zambian journalists cannot seem to differentiate between the state and the government? This especially true of the Times of Zambia, Daily mail and ZNBC.

  9. China will donate to the bank aid fund, having received aid itself until 1999. Mr Zoellick said China’s moves in Africa had been a topic during his talks with senior officials including China’s Export-Import Bank governor Li Ruogu. “Governor Li and I both agreed we should try to develop a project or projects in Africa during the course of the next year,” Mr Zoellick said.
He said the World Bank could help train sub-contractors so Export-Import Bank could hire more African workers.

  10. I am not an ardent supporter of China, but I appreciate the conditions-free aid to Africa – particularly if it is applied to good cause. Every time the World Bank ‘steps’ in with its conditions, there is chaos in Africa. In Zambia, we know first hand what World Bank conditions can do to the economy. What kind of training will the World Bank give to Africans now that they have failed to provide since its inception on on December 27, 1945? This, to me, is just a way of stiffling Africa’s devpt

  11. Let me say the truth.Levy and his gvnt are the most corrupt pipo
who are hiding in the name of challenging corruption but there the ones who are ring leaders.Levy has become talkative but doing less action.I can’t even differntiate between him and mulongoti.I can only encourage us zambian to rise up and stamp corruption and fight these selfish leaders. There ‘ve become more richer than pipo who voted for them.what a shame! We ‘re all zambians lets share the wealthy as God expects us to.

  12. Corruption can be won if only there is political on the part of LPM. There are certain improvements LPM can do to acieve that eg making all gov/public transactions online or payments by credit cards, like in the west, to forestal temptations. Workers also must be enumerated commensurate with economical demands at the time. Theft will ve reduced and corruption will be drastically reduced.Coz he is a lawyer everything LPM must be viewed from a legal point.

  13. Stage-managed activities will weaken PF, says Machungwa

STAGE-MANAGED activities in Patriotic Front (PF) will not only create a rift within the ranks but also weaken the party in general, Luapula member of parliament Dr Peter Machungwa has stated.

  14. Dr Machungwa, who is the spokesperson for PF members of parliament participating in the National Constitution Conference (NCC), yesterday stated that they were aware of cadres who had been incited to rise against party members taking part in the constitution making process.

  15. “It has come to our attention that the party leadership has started to send people to incite cadres to rise against those PF members of parliament who are participating in the NCC,” stated Dr Machungwa in a press release.

  16. Chipili member of parliament Davis Mwila was on Thursday arrested and later released on police bond following allegations of inciting violence and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

  17. Mwila’s arrest is in connection with the statement he made last Tuesday that PF cadres should beat up their members of parliament who had gone against the party’s directive to boycott the NCC.

  18. Our suspension will not have any influence, says Machungwa

OUR removal from the Patriotic Front (PF) central committee will not have any influence on our participation in the National Constitution Conference (NCC), party Luapula Central member of parliament Peter Machungwa has said. And Chifunabuli member of parliament Ernest Mwansa said party positions in the PF should be elective in order to ensure stability in the party.

  20. “We resolved to participate and the participation continues. Mr. Sata had appointed all those he has removed. That will not have any influence at all on any of us. We have resolved to participate,” said Machungwa. “There is nothing like being cowed or not cowed. We have resolved to go all the way.”

  21. And Mwansa, who was chairperson for elections, said he was not disappointed that he had been removed from his position.Mwansa said PF would be much stable if it held a convetion.“It’s always much stable when you have a convetion. It’s much stable so that you don’t see one person making decisions. Yes, these positions should be elective. Of course I know that there are financial challenges,” he said.

  22. Mwansa said although the party was facing challenges to raise money for the convention, he would be glad to contribute part of the allowances he was receiving at the National Constitution Conference (NCC) if called upon.“If called upon by the party to do so, I will contribute the millions. I have always contributed to the party in my capacity as member of parliament. But one thing is that I didn’t come here because of the allowances, I came to help in the constitution-making process,” said Mwans

  23. Kawambwa PF member of parliament Elizabeth Chitika said it was going to be very abnormal if Sata did not remove her from the position of the party’s chief whip in Parliament.Chitika said she expected such an action from Sata when she registered to participate in the NCC.

  24. “I have not received the letter yet but I should say that it was going to be very abnormal if such an action wasn’t going to be taken. When I registered for the NCC, it was mentioned on radio that I would lose my position in the party and in Parliament. It was mentioned that I was going to be expelled,” Chitika said. “I was given that position by the party president. If he wants to take it, he can take it.

  25. It was not an elective position. I was appointed. Anyway, I thank him for having given me the opportunity to serve the party in that capacity.”Chitika has also lost her position of chairperson of women’s league and child development.

  26. (1)-Our suspension will not have any influence, says Machungwa

  30. Reading the 12 points i have cited here has killed my hopes and increased my guiltiness that i have been an accomplice in propping up a worst dictatorship.

Lord thank you Decision 2006 went your way.

  31. A house divided against itself is bound to fall. Is this likely to be the demise of PF? It seems MCS aka King Cobra is poised to lose some of the best brains in the party. It’s difficult to see PF being the same again. And did PF Lusaka Mayor Chilatu say, as a party, they don’t have binding rules in place because for these to obtain they must be approved by the party convention? Pity. It seems Zambia will always be a de facto one-party state!

  32. Mulongoti, learn to be diplomatic and sensible. You are worst dog in that position ever and disgusting. facts are facts whether they come from Kafupi our worst President. We Zambians know that.
Mathani is the worst and most corrupt businessman in Zambia pretending to be Christian and Zambian.
Who does not know that Finance bank is a conduit for Indians business community siphoning money out of Zambia economy to destinations like Canada.
Mwanawasa be careful the way u deal with this man Mathani..
