Mr. Kaunda was speaking when UNIP party members gathered to celebrate first republican president Dr. Kaunda’s 84th birthday which falls today at his Kabulonga offices in Lusaka today.

He said the “one Zambia, one Nation” slogan is evidence of one of the values that have translated into national unity.

Mr. Kaunda said the participation of Zambia in the liberation struggle of other countries under Dr. Kaunda’s leadership also demonstrates his values for human equality and dignity.

He has also assured Dr. Kaunda that his party will rally behind him in his campaign against HIV/AIDS.

And Dr. Kaunda has urged the party to start building cooperatives throughout the country in order to build and strengthen the party.

Dr. Kaunda said cooperatives which existed during his tenure as republican president were aimed at empowering people and wondered why cooperatives were done away with in the second republic after he left office..

  1. Happy birthday mudala, may the almighty repay you with long life for all that you did for mother Zambia and mankind in general. Long live the 5 areas of human endeavour and Humanism. Because of you we still have one Zambia and one Nation.

  2. Please accept my sincere, heart-felt congratulations. You are truly a wonderful man, and whatever was done in 1991, we were like misguided kids. We messed up and it is our own fault that we are in this mess as a nation.

You were truly out to do good, but due to our weaknesses, we let our minds become contaminated by Chiluba’s oratory skills and propaganda from the selfish West. Now that we have vast poverty problems, citizens are made to think that poverty in the midst of plenty is normal. We are now living in evil times with leaders that are greedy, uncaring, self-centred and corrupt. Our national resources are made to enrich foreigners while our people wallow in poverty and hunger.

  3. great advise super Ken. I wish you many more returns in the future.

As for UNIP, please re-work your system so that you can contribute effectively to the development of our great nation once more.

All the very best in all your activities.

  4. UNIP as a party should work hard and offer us real opposition. from the look of things, they have gone to sleep, deep sleep

  5. I want to join UNIP. What are its contact details? we need to revamp the whole country so that the citizens of Zambia can become primary targets for my thoughts and actions.

    UNIP, where are you?

  6. UNIP must relaunch itself. There are many people out there who are lost souls and do not think that any of the current political parties have solutions to national problems.

  7. The revamping of UNIP to its former glory really depends on resting the Kaunda name from party leadership for sometime. Give people time to miss the Kaunda name from politics and come back as a sweet suprise! Rajiv Ghandi, Benazia Bhutto and Seretse Khama, current president of Botswana come from political families which are highly loved by the citizen of their countries. If it wasnt for the mess that Chiluba put us in, it would be very difficult to fondly miss the Kaunda family because they have remained in everyday squarbles of politics! For UNIP to come back, let there be genuine change in the party leadership and style! Long live KK, I personally love u!

  8. two sides to every story there were good times in the Kaunda era and the very bad times in this era too.But this time i will probably side with the good times that the big Man if anything will be remebered for,i do miss HUMANISM week which in it’s unique way brought the communities together and the foundation for one Zambia one nation. So on this grounds Happy Birht Day Grand…KK.

  9. How can I join UNIP? This party appears not to want to grow by not taking a high visibility posture.
