Levy and Sata meet at State House

Share

Patriotic Front President Michael Sata today met President Levy Mwanawasa at State House to thank him for facilitating his evacuation to South Africa for treatment following his severe heart attack two weeks ago.

And President Mwanawasa has welcomed Mr Sata’s gesture to work together saying he has always wanted the opposition to work with him to develop the country for the benefit of all Zambians.

Mr. Sata who has been a fierce critic of President Mwanawasa from the time he entered State House as republican president over seven years ago, described the one and half hour private meeting with President Mwanawasa as fruitful.

Mr. Sata said whatever differences between him and president Mwanawasa is now history and that it was time for the two leaders to build confidence and trust in each other for the benefit of the country.

At a joint press briefing at State House after their closed door talks, Mr. Sata said a new atmosphere has been created free from suspicion as the two leaders will now have direct access to each other.

Mr Sata who was in a jovial mood and punctuated his speech with jokes, thanked President Mwanawasa for taking a bold and timely decision to order his evacuation to South Africa for treatment.

He noted that though he was entitled to specialist treatment abroad at governmenty expense like any other citizen, it called for somebody to make the decision on time saying it was vital for him to personally meet President Mwanawasa and thank him for his wise and timely action to save his life.

Mr. Sata said his meeting with president Mwanawasa should not be misconstrued to mean that he wants to join the MMD but to assist president Mwanawasa in the governance of the country.

He said PF has always stood for peace and unity hence the need for the two leading political parties to work together in fostering development and unity in the country.

The PF leader said he will from now on not openly criticize President Mwanawasa as he has access to speak to him in person on a issue of national importance.

His party will later prepare a list of national issues among them the National Constitution Conference, NCC, for discussion with president Mwanawasa and his leadership.

He said the reconciliation between him and president Mwanawasa should also serve as an example to other countries in the region that dialogue is better than confrontation.

For his part, president Mwanawasa said his meeting with PF leader at State House today was one of the most important days during his seven years in power.

He emphasized that it was not right that political leaders should continue campaigning and attacking each other long after elections at the expense of development.

Dr Mwanawasa pointed out that it was sad that it took an illness for him and the PF leader to realize they needed each other.

Dr. Mwanawasa recollected that the PF leader had been maliciously making his job to govern the country difficult but that the news of Mr Sata’s illness gripped him and made him forget about all the hostilities between the two.

He said he realized at that point how much he needed Mr. Sata around and described him as a good fellow to have around.

Dr. Mwanawasa said he was glad that the meeting with Mr. Sata marks a new beginning and that there was need now to advance the interests of all Zambians.

He noted that he would like to leave a good legacy and development as president of the republic which children and their grand children will feel proud to talk about.

The president noted that insults and ill intended criticism do not build the country saying Mr. Sata was welcome to visit or phone him to discuss any issues that will build the nation.

The President hoped that Zambians have learnt something from the development between him and Mr. Sata saying he also would like to meet with opposition Heritage Party President Godfrey Miyanda who he described as once great friend.

He said he would like to see the old good friendship that existed between him and Brigadier General Miyanda revived.

And President Mwanawasa disclosed that in the true spirit of reconciliation, Mr. Sata will keep his passport which was confiscated from him by government before his illness.

Mr. Sata’s delegation to State House comprised party vice president and Lusaka Central member of Parliament Guy Scott, Munali Member of Parliament who is also PF Youth Chairperson Mumbi Phiri, Mandevu Member of Parliament who is also PF Health Chairperson and PF Home Affairs Chairperson Paul Lumbi.

Others were Winter Kabimba, PF Secretary General Edward Mumbi and PF Legal Affairs Chairperson Edgar Lungu.

Information Minister Mike Mulongoti, Defence Minister George Mpombo, Foreign Affairs Minister Kabinga Pande, Works and Supply Minister Kapembwa Simbao and Agriculture Minister Sarah Saifwanda were among senior government and party officials who attended the Press briefing jointly held by President Mwanawasa and PF leader Michael Sata after their closed door meeting.

Others were MMD National Chairman Michael Mabenga, Tourism Deputy Minister Vera Chiluba, Southern and Luapula Province Ministers Daniel Munkombwe and Charles Musosha respectively and Secretary to the Cabinet Joshua Kanganja.

On arrival for the Press briefing Mr. Sata who looked jovial took time to greet and share jokes with senior government and MMD party officials.

  1. At last brotherly love is beginning to grow between these two guys. Lets support and see how far they can collectively lead the nation. I hope the boat is not sinking!

  2. However we still need a strong and viable opposition that challenges policy and offers alternative solutions to what they challenge. Zambia will be dead if the oppostion melts away, but we need high calibre good quality opposition different form what PF has offered so far as they failed to raise the bar above insults, malice and hacking down anything and everything that the ruling party tried to do no matter how well intended. If Mr. Sata must give way to someone else so be it, maybe time has come for PF to have a convention ans thresh out these things?

  3. Good for the country. However, thats the problem with ‘man-centred’ parties. What happens to the cadres and supporters who have blindly, been pushing Sata’s agenda?

  4. “The PF leader said he will from now on not openly criticize President Mwanawasa as he has access to speak to him in person on a issue of national importance”. End Quote
This is exactly what I have again and again been pushing here. The ruling MMD has more than enough room to accommodate every Zambian’s views while appreciating constructive criticism. Insults and all the litter we see here and on the political frontier only ruins disillusioned a fact Ba Sata has realized. Those who dream they could destroy the ruling MMD through such behavior I beat them to count their wishful days.

  5. Bravo! At this point in Zambias history when investment and cash is flowing into the country, we need each and every brain at a round table and discuss how we can quickly take advantage of the positive situation to develop and eradicate poverty. This reconciliation should be extended to all surving UNIP veterans, but ah, imwe bathu, you mean even Mr Kafupi? But this one no, even after several heart attacks, no plz till furthur notice! He might chase away investors! A Kafupi mbazeleza bangatilengesya! Balute kutali chomene!
Yes Miyanda has a lot to offer given a good platform or responsible role. Go Zed, go we need to have decent houses, clean water, good roads and planned cities, ie Kanele

  6. AHH! Thats great. MUGABE and TSVANGIRAI plse learn something from the above gentlemen GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY ZAMBIA.

  7. Even Jesus when going to heaven he said “in my father’s house are many mansions” meaning all the willing have a place where he is. The ruling MMD has a big heart for all Zambians from all shades of endeavors & practically believe dissent is democratic. However MMD wishes that such must be done with dignity and a sense of “common good”.God raises leaders and when its time to replace them it all happens with much easy. However many street created political junkies have problems of understanding seasons. They hate the truth told and in vain they belabor to insult the visionary and grounded voices.

  8. Inzya, God has his own ways of resolving issues. We have all witnessed God’s miracle. Miracles still happen even today. Of course, the MMD need constructive criticisms and NOT distructive criticisms. I like the league that has been formed today. It reminded me of what was reading this morning about the league that made between king Solomon after his father Davis had died with king Hiram. Sata can still criticize the govt constructively. Something else is remaining with Sata is to be born again of the Holy ghost like Nicodemus. He really needs Jesus. Mwanawasa this was the right time God had prepared for you and Sata to dine at the same table. It never came too late, but God’s plans.

  9. #7 Pragmatist you re right on. This thinking that to be in opposition equals hating the ruling party and its members is next to barbaric. Our parties do not even hold any discernible ideological positions on public policy. What is PF’s view on foreign policy?taxation?employment creation?trade? (spare me SATA’s pie in the sky wish list)etc we can go on. Chaps just exist in opposition to create difficult conditions for governance and force their way to power so that they can also ‘start eating’ very eminent Zambians who were doing the ‘brain work’ for sata just wanted to unseat Levy so that they could loot the country. this must change

  10. Well i must admit this shows all those cadres not to follow blindly what there leaders say, Because once they change, are they going to change too ???……making yourself look more like puppets than humans with a free will and mind. I would Like to Congratulate the country for having..such forth sighted leaders….Well Done Levy AND Sata, and for the country indeed this is of great great value….

  11. Besides….i doubt the boat is sinking, more like the time has come for the boat to look for a destination, it makes little sence sailing aoround with no where to go. WELL DONE Levy and Sata

  12. This just shows you how selfish our politicians are. the fact that his health was at stake he can now publicly say that he will not insult the president in the open. Why as an elder didn’t he think of that before , trading insults in public is retrogressive to the whole nation.
This stresses the point that we have politicians of low moral caliber in zambia. Imagine the furore that Sata would have kicked up if it was another opposition leader that had been accoreded that aid.
As much as we commend the reconciliatory approach, let it not be done in the guise of forwading the nation when it is personal benefit that matters the most to individuals.

  13. Its true Zambians are forgetiful, keep the brotherly love. One Zambia, One nation. Political parties work togehter for the betterment of Zedia. As a Zedian my proudness is increasin. Peaceful, Friendly, Happy Zambians. GOD bless.

  14. She should not only save his SKIN. What about him forgiving and retracting the expulsion of his own Members who challenged him on the NCC. We want to see that he really mean well if he rethinks on the expulsions and abuse of his own Members who have dissenting views

  15. Mwinsho ba Sata panu cabbage wa aluka ni nama iiweme iya ku lengesha amatobyanya! Facing death must be something frightening mwebakwasu.A lesson people !NEVER BURN BRIGDGES on you way in life

  16. PF wawa !!it’s long bein overdue and am sure you are going to grow politically!no more stone throwing and hooliganism.Zambia chalo cesu bane!VIVA LPM and Sata.

  17. this has played a significant part in the political world.we see around where political leaders when they fail to agree on issues it leads to war, etc, but our leader here have shown there maturity.let the world learn something from here.as zambians we can even feel proud on this this one.when people can face each other and discuss on issues issues of wars are avoided coz they can always find a solution peacefully.biggie ba sata na ba kamba ba levy mwachitako ifyamano lelo.keep the same spirit.

  18. Mean what you say and say what you mean for Mr Sata you are full of words and do not hide in your jokes! That time is over, you have been given a second chance for Gods sake live above your insults, re-brand your name and party. Reprogram your supporters and listen to the logic and reasoning of your MPs.

  19. “Mr Sata who was in a jovial mood and punctuated his speech with jokes”
Isn’t that what he is…a mere joke. Why this turn about of things? Why do we Zedians have a collective Alzheimer? When these guys were insulting each other during the campaign period and thereafter, they showed us that they cannot be trusted. why should we trust this gesture now? why should we believe in them now after all, the money is not Mwanawasa’s. it from all zambians. Sata should be eternally grateful to all zedians, including me.

  20. iwe 16,why are you saying ati ubwato bulebunda.wait tomorow if you dont know there must be a strategy behind ba sata.sata is bad kuma plan….if scott didnt say anything sata was going to say similar words which scott used.anyway lets just appreciate the action taken by these leaders.remember sata is the president for copperbelt and lusaka

  21. Atase…president of what #23?He is president of insults and every mischievous plan he can pull from his sleeve

  22. Am just wondering what type of advice sata can give LPM. Is it on mineral taxes, Taiwan as a country, the dangers of smoking, how to use viagra etc. For me i doubt whether this old man has anything to contribute towards the development of our country.
When it is him to benefit it is ok, but when it is others, it becomes bad. When he was getting payments from taiwan, china become bad and taiwan good. just make it possible for him to be paid from the NCC, he will definately support it. He just goes where drums sound the loudest. i fear for the continued existence of PF

  23. ITS A GOOD DIRECTION FOR POLITICIAN TO BEGIN UNDERSTANDING EACH OTHER AND SHARING MATTERS OF GREAT IMPORTANCE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR BELOVED MOTHER ZAMBIA.ALL WE NEED IS DEVELOPMENT AND GOOD ECONOMIC WILL.

  24. Why was he condemning the other opposition parties then?I hear he wants to be a delegate at NCC!he should retire like VJ together with old bull Munkombwe!

  25. #24, dont you know people change. You’re so uncivilised, as if you’re not in the US. Thank goodness your opinion is insignificant. I applaud, Sata, because he is a stubborn man with a lot of pride, and it takes a lot for a man to do what he just did, considering, the insults he made towards Mwanawasa.

  26. sata knows very well that sooner or later his heart will crack again, so he is just strategizing his next evacuation. period.

  27. #28 your uncle Sata practices politics of selfishness thats why he could not allow his MPs to attend NCC.For a civilized person like you ,I thought you could see beyond this!He is not about people but HE.That is why when he had a heart attach, he realised that before has he suffers another one he better be friends with Levy. What he has done is what he always has been doing , protecting himself by buying insurance in Levy, so if you think this is about Zambia, my civilised, friend then sit and watch the cobra preparing to spit his venom.

  28. #28, you can remove a villager from the village and take him into town, but his villagish characteristics will never completely vanish. just watch this old man closely. i just want to see how far this married of convinience will go between sata and LPM. To me they are like water and oil.

  29. This is one of the greatest things that has happened to Zambia.People should learn to put personal differences behind at the expense of national development.Zambia has the best brains but the problem is these brains get divided at the expesnse of national unity and development.United we stand ,divided we fall.Thank you levy and thank you Sata viva Zambia.

  30. I am skeptical about his overtures towards Mwanawasa. The man always wants to be in the spotlight and could right now be frightened about an internal coup within PF given his health status. Given his history, I doubt if his contrition towards MMD is sustainable in the long term. This smells of selfishness through and through, fellow PF members who have made similar statements towards the MMD have been branded and hounded out. Just look at the shocked faces of Guy Scott and other senior members at the airport in yesterday’s papers, the man is not democratic and clearly never consulted the party hierarchy about such a major shift in party policy. Having said that, I hope he doesn’t take PF

  31. into a merger with MMD, regardless of what Sata is like; he offers the only viable, formidable opposition to the current government. In the spirit of check and balances, this very essential in a country like Zambia

  32. I can not believe this. however, it i good for the development of the country. government and opposition need to talk so that after elections they should negotiate, we do not want the Kenya or Zimbabwe isue to creep into Zambia no. Look at Malawi, too, the situation is so tense because the two government and opposition are at loggerheads for what. On people. Congratualtions to these two men.

  33. Anyway fingers crossed, there is a Milanzi by-election just around the corner and we shall see how these two parties play out. Then will shall see the genuineness of this reconciliation. These are Politicians they change colour to suit the slogan of the day and save their skin

  34. My God,am jst watching the same meeting of Sata & Mwanawasa on ZNCB.Those r jst empty jokes and empty promises.Ba Sata mwa sebana!

  35. # 34-39,

Learn to look at others with a sense of magnanimity. Life will rain you rivers of joy if and only if you learn to live above the wishes of your enemies. Live Simply, Love Generously, Care Deeply, Speak Kindly and Leave the Rest to God and count your blessings.A thousand men will fall at your right hand side if you do so. Your victories will confuse and eat away the platform of your enemies in your eyes more than you wish.Stay steadfast in your values.

  36. I never knew that politics can also be as genuine and hearty as this. God bless our nation and our leaders. Amen.

  37. i wonder how genuine sata can be…all those names (eg:cabbage) and other things he said… lets watch and see…pantu even mandela..i dont believe he fully forgave the boers… oh well… God shows himself in mysterious ways…

besides.opposition working together until election time when they should start campaigning is good for the county… as development isn’t slowed down or halted for PERSONAL arguments between leaders…
    proudly zambian…

  39. I will come later guys, I am preparing a crucial presentation tomorrow. I have to defend my PhD thesis. This indeed a nice debate, but I don’t have much time for now.

The only comment I can make for now is that a snake will always remain a snake.Whether you cage it or not, a snake will always be a snake.

We can debate later on Mr Satan. For now bye.

  40. Demonizing Ba Sata for his bold and timely change of goal post is inhumane to say the least. He is a father and human being first then a political animal. Like a book, his life has a summary page.He cannot only be thriving indefinitely on the fantasy and flattery of his disillusioned cadres, but more face realities of life. Like any wise he too has the challenge to build his legacy while aligning his own life in the remaining time. He has too build useful & worthwhile bridges for his family and the selfless support base realistically indebted too.Iconic & visionary leadership plan for the years after they long checked out.

  41. His cannot be an issue of “reverse psychology” but realism.Decisions are at the heart of leader success, and at times there are critical moments when they can be difficult, perplexing, and nerve-racking. However, the boldest decisions are the safest.Look at any icons of Democracy and progressive leadership, courage without self rational interest in decision is the way to crucible leadership.

  42. Mwaiche Pragmatist
Don`t tell me that your MMD party is falling for these shenanigans SATA is trying to pull.I thought that you are politically crafty to see through such intricacies.Try and ask VJ what sort of engineering SATA is trying to concoct.
Welcome his gesture but don`t keep your eyes off this old man.

  43. Behind the scenes cuts are now coming into the fore. Blind supporters should realise that plitician are like defence and prosecution lawyers, who fight fierce battles in court just to win on behalf of their clients. Outside the battle field(courthouse or political stage for politicians) they are buddies. Whatever the case, God’s time remains the best. Good show and stopping pretending to hate one another.

  44. Decision-making is a cardinal part of the economy of thinking in human life just like in Decision Science.Only you can change your life. No one can make decisions for you when it comes to serious questions, such as, What ought I to do?, What should I believe?, What can I know?, How should I live? Even organizational empowerment begins with individual empowerment, and managing available information means managing your life wisely.

  45. The same decision-making process we face in business arises in all other aspects of one’s life, but they are obscured in other parts of life because they are not overlaid with as many complexities that arise in business. If you expect people who do not treat themselves well to treat the world well, you will be sorely and surely disappointed. We all know the difference between “right” and “wrong”, and we can tell “good from “bad”. But we also know that the more difficult decisions come when we have to choose between good and better. The toughest decisions of all are those we have to make between bad and worse.

  46. This is absolute mockery? sata indicated that he was entitled to medical treatment like any other citizen? bull crap….ba some of us iwe. I wish he had passed on? my cousin had to sell off his house in order to travel to india for heart surgery? zambians too docile? i always pray that we suffer more , maybe that is when our heads shall open up.

  47. CONGRATULATIONS YOU GUYS-LEVY AND SATA. What you have done will set a very good example and go a long way especially amongst our children who need that learning by example. I have read all comments from the blogger readership. Most of them are happy about this development. But, as usual, “pansaka tapabula fipumbu”. There are even those who are exhibiting a negative attitude toward. This are the same chaps who enjoyed seing the two men slugging it out and are therefore, not happy that their fantasies have been put to an end. ZAMBIANS, let build our country in the manner we have been building others, including the greatest South Africa. Lets not destroy ours. Well done Sata and Mwanawasa.

  48. Mwaiche Wandi Chapi (48),
I understand your worsened confusion now that your boss has realized how much he has wasted on sustaining you in blogs since 2005 yet without valuable returns to your Party. If only you and that rascal called Joze picked from the unconcealed fillers here while i had expressing my shock at your impulsive rhetoric out of unbridled ignorance, you wouldn’t be in such a quagmire boyi.I’m better vested in digesting dynamics of international and grassroot politics. Few moves can beat be me at it. FYI i did a double major in tertiary school in Political economy studies and i excelled with excellence.

  49. Mwaiche Wandi Chapi (48),

Should this Sata development overwhelm you, in my occasional patronage here as your big brother I have the forbearance and time atleast for some 3 weeks to spare in rehabilitating you. It’s all about Pols 101 beyond your street junk political cadre roles you play. Such developments are best grasped by those icons in the Domain with cognitive leadership skills where artisanship in “Political Theory” and “Thought” count

  50. The meeting of Sata and Levy should not exite any body.Sata can not be fooling Zambians by only realising how appauling our health system is after his near death. When he served at Health Portofolio, he was well aware of this condition but what did he do? he also continued to send Top Dogs to South Africa at the expense of the tax payers. So personally i think he is taking Zambians for a ride as we are too passive a mass. Look at what he done to his honourable MPs who were for national progress for getting involved to fix the same constitution at NCC?What a myopic leader he is. So Zambians this is time to write off him and other odies with young ones. Generational change!!!! Abash Cobra!!!!

  51. Mwaiche Pragmatist
You never cease to amaze me.I keep reminding you to apply logic ahead of emotions whenever you`re dealing with politicians. It`s not been long that SATA said that he would work with Levy on amending our constitution. It didn`t even take a week before he U turned on such a pronouncement.
It would be interesting to see how SATA handles the upcoming bye election to check out where he really stands.
All I am advising you is to apply caution to your excitement.I have been constantly reminding you that issue based politics is the answer to the mess in Zambia.
We are all hoping and praying is that such reconciliation between LPM and SATA is sustained.

  52. 45. Ant-Sata
I write to wish you the best of luck in your presentation.Your achievement will be higly appreciated and you must there after try to implement or use your highly acquired knowledge in trying to find answers to problems facing the world.Zambians must move forward.good luck

  53. Mwaiche Chapi,
I realize your legitimate fear and pain at what this entails politically to your far fetched hopes of using Sata as a mope rag in bridging your political challenges. The MMD has very effective and seasoned structural capacity forecast, deduce, optimize desirable gain from any scenario besides offering timely strategic policy recommendations for moves ahead of detriments.Ba Shikulu Ba sata has been there & he knows the enduring capacity to render him useless in the absence of HE’s restraint. He know how a statesman HE has been.Ba Sata is only complicated to your likes coached & launched from some home patio.

  54. Mwaiche Chapi,

A free person is the one who know and recognizes his/her feasible region e.g., set by his/her society. The slave is not aware of such limits. A free person is wise to recognize what is under his/her control and what is not, and has the ability to accept the first and extend the second one. You may have heard that “If there is a will, then there must be a way”. In fact the advice should be in the opposite order, i.e. “If there is a way, then there might be a will”.It is right because the feasible region might be empty, and one might ignores one or some constraints, and then being in a big trouble, e.g., willing beyond ones’ ability. This is exactly what Ba Sata has realized .

  55. Mwaiche Chapi,

You need to deal with your “decidophobia”.Fear of sound judgement is a sure path to unhappiness which is a state of your mind. As already hinted here,Decisions are at the heart of success, and at times there are critical moments when they can be difficult, perplexing, and nerve racking but they have to be made. Renegating is at owners’ detriment. At exactly 11:45AM before noon, Ba Sata has no interest or gain in thriving on your fantasy from you his cadres. Yours are cookies spamming his life. He has his family interest to secure before checking out rather than you shifting sand surrogates.

  56. Mwaiche Pragmatist
Who writes like they depend on these politicians for a living between you and I?
If you`re not on LPM`s payroll, then kindly inform us just one policy disagreement you have with your boss?
Quit such hero worshipping and focus on being economically empowered like us and that will be the genesis of your objectivity.

  57. Mwaiche Chapi,
You like counting on repudiated fallacies in the arena.FYI,Politicians like anyone else are also employed and serving existing institutions with which businesses & jobs are found. No wonder you are mumbling have been employed by Sata instead of some entity. I know Sata’s current route threatens your future.Hear me,”Individuals cannot hire me”.FYI since you have been belaboring to hear my story. Well, let me hint that like many studious Zambians some here, I have been equally blessed to have gone to school and over the years happily serving a fortune 500 Global corporation besides some personal lines of entrepreneurship and challenging public office options at hand.

  58. Besides what i have candidly counseled you on today, also know that as human beings we see that making the correct decisions is not only what we want to do in life, but includes what we have to do. The fool who repeats again and again: “I am bound, I am bound with fantasy that we will obliterate MMD this time around,” remains in bondage. The fear of making the wrong decision is what pushes and guides human beings to making a decision by utilizing a some vudu approach you are entrenched in.Yours are False hopes: Hoping for something to happen over which you have no control over its outcome.

  59. Mwaiche Chapi,

False hope and fear are two sides of the same coin. As human beings we can promise according to our hopes that in our respective lives we are under our control only (and have some degree of certainty on its outcome), however, we avoid making decisions according to our fears of the outcomes.

God grant you peace and a full restoration in advent of what you have taken as your mid term crisis. Personally i don’t see any.The old man Sata is just making peace with others he has wounded over the years having been misled by cadres like you. Learn that life is a dribbler and a dynamite!

    Peace

  60. Atleast sata has gown up in his old time.It has taken an ilnes for him to realise the importnce of dialogue. Yu cant fight a govt forever.Let uncle BOB and TVSANGIRAI learn something out of this.NO MORE STONE THROWING, but be carefull withSATA his his a SNAKE.

  61. Joining the fun quite late but ba mudala ba Sata has just been humbled by the ka heart attack. No need for him to be licking president Levy’s a$$ though. Chilufya open criticism is constructive dependent on your approach. I hope this is not the way PF goes down. I know you’ll be back

  62. Congratulations President Mwanawasa and Honorable Sata. You two have again scored a first for Zambia. Some of us out here are being congratulated by colleagues for what you ve done. There is always good coming from Zambia. Please sustain that trust for mother Zambia. A lesson to our neighbors and the rest of Africa.

  63. Ba Father Figure(67),
Chapi is a salaried PF cadre who has championed insults on the MMD here after Sam K the Unipist’s death in Atlanta two month ago. What objectivity does he bring that i have missed?

  64. Donkeys dont politicize the whole issue. Its just human and normal to say thank you when somebody saves your life. Sata is human and cultured person. That is what he did!

Sata could have been history today had it not been for Levy. Had just had to say it, “Thank You Levy”, that was the whole purpose.

The words that he muttered are yet to be translated into action. Otherwise all what he said was fake!!! He fears that he might be hit by another stroke and no one will rush im to J’burg. Good strategy !!Wait and see, time will tell!

  65. One cant help but wonder, now that Sata has decided to swallow a big chunk of the provebial humble pie, what next for his followers who revelled in his hatred for LPM and govt? Will they also follow their leader’s example and be strange bedfellows with MMD and govt? Thats the ultimate price for being blind followers!! One thing for sure, you gatta hand it to the Big Guy in heaven, he sure knows how to tame arrogance!! I never thought I would live to see Sata sucking up to LPM with his tail between his legs!! I’ll miss his tantrums though; thats one comedian down for Zambian TV.

  66. What Sata and Levy have done is history. These two guys are now role models in the entire world. If Mugabe and Morgan could do this,Zimbabwe would not have been the way it is now.Again if it had happened like this in Kenya, that blood shed already spilt in Kenya could not have happened.Similarly, Israel and Palestine. This is great, and this is what God had always wanted.Come 2011, Sata will definetly be in state house.Bcos of this Levy has set a very good example.Even us Zambians let us learn from these two wise great leaders. It has taken God’s miracle for these two guys to come together!!Amen!!

  67. This is great news back home. This is healthy for our generation to come. We can not pretend to accept that Sata offers a really threat and challenge to Levy’s govt. You cannot compare HH to Sata. Sata is his own class of politics. What am saying is that this old man currently in Zambia and entire Sothern region is one of the most intelligent experienced politicians.I thank our good Lord for this for atleast i am sure there is someone genuine to take over from our Levy when he leaves office in 2011. Sata will turn our perceptions for the better in Zambia for he is the right choice for me and the majority of the Zambian community here in Chicago.Bravo,Levy and Mikaeli!! You are now models!!

  68. Some comic relief..”Just what kind of treatment did PF leader Michael Sata receive in South Africa?

Brain surgery? – Yes. Heart transplant? – Yes. It looks like they took more than just his cigarettes away.

  69. Sata and his PF have come out stronger than before. This is great menu.Let’s hope others will learn from this.

T was in Zambia last year in the C/B and Lusaka and what i noticed cannot be underrated.PF is very popular in these areas.I visited Chisokone market in Kitwe,99.99% marketeers there are PF. As for expelled MPs,honestly how do you go against your party ruling?? This is total anarchy.Every institution i.e churches, clubs have rules. Bravo Sata and PF!!

  70. No 76 is wrong!! Please dont equate the Zambian situation to Kenyan or Zimbabwean situation. The Zambian scenario is different. The diffrences between the two seems to be personal based on hidden agendas, settling scores and underating each otehr, etc. Levy and Sata have diffrent capacities and approaches of doing things, even their intelligence too!! I think the change is cosmetic and not sustainable. They are not babies, their differences are deep and can not be eroded in one day. Unless if the one who has apologised was doing it for hurt and personal gain, the differences are far from over. Its all nonsense and stupid!! Watch out! Sata currently is a wolf in a sheep’s skin, watch out!!

  71. Come 2011, Sata and PF will form the next government. Levy and sata must be commended for the positive development they have taken. They have scored a first in the region and hopefully others will learn from them i.e Morgan and Robert Mugabe and many others.

  72. I have to give it to Sata, this is maturity. Even if they go on and differ. He was right to thank Mwanawasa for helping him. This is what Americans do, when its time to come together they do.

  73. Boma ni boma !! don’t mess with LPm bane!he’s a gentleman.ubwato bwabunda bane if you can’t realise!come 2011,ther will be change in Zambia,no more stone trhrowing! PF cadres can’t still believe their presido said all he said and am sure they feel it’s not worht staying there!change is inevitable bane.

  74. #18 Ba chipimpi banfume kanshi naimwe muli bakwasu. chamwama icho elo kabili mwalabila bwino, kabiki taisngukapo inama. Tukalelosheko lukoso.

  75. #25 please lets respect people here, who tells you Sata uses Viagra. Thats his private business and there are many more on Viagra including you so leave the mans privacy .At least he is on western Viagra than the traditional masai one.

  76. This is indeed very good atleast we are finally seeing some maturity in Zambian politics. When we begin to handle our National issues with such levels of maturity, then we are headed to national development.

What needs to happen is that political leaders must be able to transend the maturity they are desplying in thier carders. Cause these carders are on the ground level ant that were the tension that steers troble is.

  77. Ala Mukwaii twatotela Lesa apakalamba. Thanx be to God this is prayer answered. May God allow that this thing works and gets extended to Chiluba and KK. Fellow christians may we continue praying so that this reconciliation does not fail. To our leaders may God rant you wisdom.

  78. Congratulations Mr PF President Sata on your swallowing of your pride and acknowledging the stuff that matters – dialogue with the government of the day to bring in development to the whole nation. When the UPND President Mr HH mentioned that the UPND was going to work with the MMD to bring development to the country blind people cried out and some insulted him. It is good that Hon Sata has learnt something from Mr HH whom he (Sata)accuses as inexperienced politically although it took him a heartattack to realise it.

However, I have to warn that my President LPM is very clever and this may sadly be an end to Sata’s hopes of ever leading Zambia from Plot 1.

    Be blessed you all.

  79. Whatever you sceptics may say against Sata or our president, fact is that these two men have shown us that mutual respect and esteem for the nation comes before their political ambitions. What more can we ask from them? Let others follow the example and show their commitment first instead of criticising. ONE ZAMBIA…

  80. Congrats to the two gentlemen in africa, look around africa now, even pipo in the same party do not see eye to eye e.g. Mbeki and Zuma.We will always be pioneers on this continent.Without undermining Sata’s gesture … I was thinkin it takes a heart attack to change PF manifesto??? I did not mean that, Well, I do not know how to put it.Anyway, bigups madaala sata, wakula nomba.

  81. Two selfish bulls in the krall, that is what we now get – Sata and LPM. Zambians are now faced with one united body of selfish leaders all out to ensure that they can eat in silence together while the masses dream on!

  82. KING COBRA! I am enjoying the whole thing about King Cobra. The Cobra has been brought down to its knees. Good on yah!!!!!

  83. YES, i agree with no.95, HH is not a politician. He was just imposed on his party.Let HH debate live on TV with Sata, you can see how swallow HH is in terms of knowledge.HH will go with a lot of literature to propound his manifestos whilst King Cobra will just go with a glass of water.Ba HH baibile indalama kuma Coorporative institutions during privatization and has no proven record and CV. Ifwe fwe bena copperbelt, twaba mu cibwato!!Kale twafuma mu MMD napa branch level it does not even exist.Nga ni ba UPND bena, has never even existed.
Viva Levy!Viva Sata. You two are great leaders indeed. You have exibited it thorougly. Come 2011, emo tuli mu ciibwato..tuleoba.It is floating properly!

  84. I think everyone fears Sata including ba Levy. I think ba mwisho just wants to make his last days at plot 1 easy. This clearly shows how much influence this one person has in Zambian politics today. Even though he has very little academic education, he has raisen right to the top of Zambian politics. I think the issue here is about numbers, Mr Sata is too popular and ba levy knows that if all was fair and equal, Mr. Sata should have been in plot 1. The other thing is ba levy is most likely setting himself up for a peaceful retirement because he knows that if he leaves on bad terms with a party most likely to form the next gov’t he will have a bad retirement so he is been good for himself.

  85. But the symbolic gesture of working together is good for the country and can be used as a model for good practice in African politics for now!!

  86. Phew………that’s a breather. Atleast we can forge aheasd for the development of mother Zambia! Let us all put our differences behind us and move forward, lets not think like #52 with never forgiving heart – you might not be Zambian

  87. My novena prayers worked on my president sata while you were in SA and I am now focusing on praying on all your caders that they too take the way you have taken so that our Zambia will be a country of milk and honey regardless of who is at Plot 1. Viva MCS Viva LPM.

  88. You know what?? Levy knowns that when 2011 is over, Teta, Mr.Pipe (Mulongoti) and Reverend blue Shikapwazo will be among the first pipo to denounce him. Umeno…mafupa!! Therefore his is wise trying to make peace with everyone especially Michael whom come 2011 he is forming the next govt and will be at state house. Viva Levy! Viva Sata..eeeee!!! You two can perform wonders. And the devil is not happy to see you two sharing notes and working together for the betterment of mother Zambia.No!.So,watch out!Fyebena copperbelt…emo tuli muci bwato! Please expel Faustina Sinyangwe and Peter Machungwa quickly so that we hold by-election and so that we measure their popularity without PF.Viva PF!

  89. wat rubbish dont be hoodwinked by political stunts . how many pipo need treatment abroad but a not sent . sata could evn afford treatment without levi s intervention.

  90. Big ups to Sata to say thank you to Levy.. but what a wanker.. honestly now he has to go with his tail between his legs? is that the Sata we know and hate? who will keep govt. in check now? i doubt we will see Sata with the same venom and fire that he had post being evacuated. Sure Levy facilitated when he could have done nothing, but which high profile citizens have been failed to have been evacuated? its his right to go abroad foir treatment. should we all thank Levy when we get what is constitutionally ours?
our opposition will always be weak, viva MMD !! mwahh ha ha ha ha

  91. Imwe ba SATA, surely does it take a close shave with death to realise ati efyo mwalechita fyabupuba? Twalemilolesha fye! Welcome to sanity.

  92. But whos says satana is a politician?he’s a stone thrower and HH is a smart politician.he doesn’t hurt people like does cobra.watch his space Choma 1 and you shall be surprised. In china they treated him like LPM!!!we all know how great a nation China is!

  93. Uli prophet wabufi. Ule ipusha imbwa ngeifwele, iwee!
Come to Copperbelt and see for yourself. It is PF through out.Ne Nkoko kumo bonse ni mu ciibwato panka tukabuke.

Come 2011……..wina azalila…..Sata akateka. No wonder our good Lord has healed him by the strips of his Jesus.Tafwe lelo Sata until akatekepo atleast one term mu Zambia.

  94. This has nothing to do with HH, please lets stick to these two gentlemen on the continent. Maybe, we as zambians take peace for granted.Lets just look next door, then again we will continue to appreciate ourselves and our nation.

  95. Since Sata used to say that LPM is not fit to rule because of his health thats thru, But now since he is also sick, He too is not fit to rule ZED. WAKE UP young leaders this is your time to change mother ZED.Let them be adviser ifye. Long live Zed and peace to all Zedians

  96. thanks that at least two feuding parties are able to smile with each other. but just some house keeping measures for Mr Sata. he should not have rushed to make statements on his intentions at the airport. he should have had a closed door meeting with his PF politburo so as to agree on how to cooperate with LPM. just reading between the lines, i doubt if the likes of lubinda and kambwili not forgeting nsanda gave their blessings to this meeting. it seems Mr sata just made up his mind on his own. Agreed that PF is his party but i thought the PF had grown beyond being controlled by an individual as i beleive there are structures and regulations within which the party is supposed to be governed.

  97. the party should be seen to be practsing internal democracy as against supporters follwing only what their leaders deem correct at any given instance. this tends to demoralise die hard supporters who have invested heavily in the party. this should tell us somethng about parties formed around individuals. for instance in their MOU, how are the PF and MMD going to resolve such issues as the Chinese Investors, NCC, windfall tax, the task force etc. only time will tell and we shall cntinue monitoring the situation.

  98. #108, HH is a smart politician? Honey, HH and smart are not even in the same country. Look at the facts, the young man is trying but that’s all he’ll ever do – try.

  99. Can someone please enlighten me, which secondary school did SATA go to? what professional and academic qualifications has he got and from which institution?.

  100. #64 Mwaiche Pragmatist
At your age you`ve got to be an employer and not boasting about where you work.Your mindset should be striving towards similar impact like Dangote is making.
Dangote Group of companies is a giant Nigerian cement manufacturing company which intends to set up a plant in Zambia with a capacity of 2.5 million tonnes of cement per annum.

The group is owned by Nigerian tycoon, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, who according to Forbes Magazine is named the richest black African with a net worth of US $ 3.3 billion (about K 12.3 trillion).

According to the Forbes magazine ranking of richest people in the world for 2008, Dangote is ranked the 334th richest person in the world.

  101. No.95, 81 you are hallucinating. This is the last chance for satana cobra to enter state house. It took a heart attack to realise he wont make it come 2011.

The next presido will be a young man less than 50 years at in 2011.

May Sata retire from active politics and play the role of political consultant instead since he is the most experienced active politician.

  102. What the president did was very good to serve life and what sata did to thank the president is also very good. But Sata to say he will not criticize the president openly is not a good idea as for the gorvernment to perform there should be others to criticize openly and praise when it is due as this enables the public to monitor their government. HH is not powerful enough to critize he has also another way of doing it

  103. Zambians get too over excited. The meeting between Sata and Levy is nothing but maybe just indication of how politicians should inter relate.Sata is still in a state of confussion and shock he lost a son and he is still just coming from the ICU,this very fact leaves much too be desired.Alot of guyz understand the feeling of escaping death.Levy however should be thanked for having given Mr Sata a shoulder to lean on in a time of need.Levy ,thanks you are great. As for Sata We will ask for Gods guidance to help you put pull thru ,you really need it

  104. # 117 sata did not attend any secondary schooling, he has no certificates and proper CV. That is why if by the devils power he smokes his way through to state house, he will demand that he gets his honourally doctorate. kaya Dr. SATA???????????????

  105. You see how people behave when sober now!The chap is gonna be sober most his life.he’s gonna learn to be a normal person.no more kadobo, fwaka, lubanje.

  106. If #17 is correctthat SATA has no certificates, then he is not fit to rule Zambia. He needs to go to Muzenge!! He still has time before 2011.

If he does not want to go to school let him retire. There are a lot of active and intelligent young turks in PF. We dont want to listen to empty heads who preach politics of hate and regionalism!!

  107. Just a cupple of questions to the presido!Which money did u use take Sata to SA for treatment? Did he have medical insurance cover? How many Zambians do you think have medical cover? And how many other Zambians of are sick and seeking medical attention but either not afford medication and the like have u helped?Man, your policies in Health are pathetic presido! The money you used to take Sata to SA is taxpayers, its for all Zambians. This is what you always do,taking eachother for medical treatment overseas and living the poor people with hospitals which are ill aquiped,no drugs and all that. Its every Zambians right to have access to better medical care not just batch of bloody politicians alone.

  108. An opposition leader(Nevers Mumba)is made vice president,Sata reconciles with Mwanawasa after a heart attack,Hakainda Hichilema has a heart………and reconciles with Mwanawasa.
What next? one party rule? Besides other democracies are talking about universal health care for all. We all want to go to South Africa when seriously ill, after all we pay high taxes.

  109. Chapi please assist assist me with this information.

Which secondary school or college did SATA attend?
What are his professional and academic qualifications?
Is there any mention of any of his former classmates?
How many wives has he got?

Foe a person who aspires to be president of this country, it is important for us voters to know this vital information on him. Please assist.

  110. Critoris Sakala are you are a ginas? Shut the f*%k up and get st*$f’d up ur analysis is wicked. Did you know that HH is a power house? If he was a chancer i dont think he could have faired the way he did during the G.Election. open up further and widen your oblangantor we need generational change in Zambian politics not recycled dunlop tyres. We have never had any calamity why are we not ticking? HH used to work as an auditing team appointed on merit by the govt of the day if he made money out of zambia’s stupidity for allowing washington consensus to liberalise our country then shame on you ginas get tighter.

  111. #23 & 24,why are you opposing each other when yo leaders are consolidating their mutual understanding? Be brothers of the same family zambia.

#37 I agree with yo sentiments,we shall see the genuineness of the reconciliation.

MMD is a gud pat under his excellency LPM but the SC must edit the empty long mouthed Bulongofi & Tentalimba. They talk, thereafter realising(Talk first & think later)

Dr LPM & Mr Sata, don’t let us down more especially the king smooker.Keep yo promises of brotherly-hood,the world is warching ,let it be a genuine reconciliation.May the gud lord bless.

  112. Parties built on individuals are useless and toothless. I hope PF will become democratic one day.
Zambia is arguably a leading democracy in both Southern Africa in particular and Africa in general. Thus, it will be seriously retrogressive for Zambians to put PF – in its current state – into government office come 2011.
Otherwise, great work my Republican President Mwanawasa for teaching Hon Sata a good lesson. I know that you Mr President LPM will not let Zambia be reigned by misguided and unprincipled individuals in 2011 forward – following your well articulated interview that appeared in the POST newspaper at the beginning of this year featuring your views on who must take over in 2011

  113. zedians good at using vulgar language.levy or no levy zed will always be there, sata or no sata zed will go ahead as long as you people push for a better ZAMBIA where reconciliation will win the respect of ALL ZEDIANS.let levy and sata “shake” hands but does this ACT shaken their HEARTS FOR THE POOR in our land?

  114. sata kindly please take a break and retire shileniko ifwe abaiche abakwata ama new ideas of CHANGE!

  115. Magnificent beat ! I wish to apprentice while you amend your website, how could i subscribe for a blog website? The account aided me a appropriate deal. I were a little bit familiar of this your broadcast offered brilliant clear idea
