Scam on illegal land allocation unearthed

Share

A scandal has been unearthed in which some members of the Resident Development Committees, RDCs, in Kapiri district are illegally allocating land to unsuspecting residents.

Kapiri Mposhi District Local Government Administrator, Fewsdays Yenga, disclosed that some named members of the RDCs have since been handed over to the Police for investigations.

This is when a named member of the RDC sold land number 147 belonging to Inonge Ngumbi to a Mr. Bowa at one million kwacha without giving any documents and no government receipt.

Mr Yenga was speaking yesterday when he met RDCs on illegal land allocation following the Circular in June 2007 from the Minister of Local government and housing and another Circular from the Permanent Secretary Central province regarding land administration.

The Circular indicated that issues of land and plot allocation be handled by the council and that RDC’s letter stated that Council through its management and Council recommended all.

Mr Yenga said RDC members had no authority to sell or reposses land without the permission from the Council.

  1. Such things should be dealt with once and for all.The government should step in and protect its people from such crooks by putting them where they belong-in jail. Its abuse of office and in the end government just reposses the plots from people who have invested in them from their meagre resources naking them even poorer.Deal with officers and those who abuse their powers

  2. I think kapiri naichimfya we the members of the public are also fools. How can someone surely sell you a plot without any documents fwaku ifwaila.Muletala mwaipusha utulo pamenso does not assist at all.Anyway balifibila akale so pakapokola naimwe not kufileka bbopa galu.

  3. Imwe fipuba why did you give the ***** one metre without any documents.Utulo bakaboke muleke, you are giving the police unnecessary work. These *****s want cheap things and they are the ones destroying our economy, let them loose out so that it could be a deterrant to those who like using the back door.Bali finyisha.

  4. Lock them up. But government need to speed up the process of clearing land distribution in Zambia, as people who are keen to buy are being pushed away. Empower your people.

  5. such incidences just shows why africa will never develop. It seems africans are just inherently corrupt……look at your uncle Mugabe what is your African Union doing to stop, advise the old confused man nothing….you tell me if there is hope in africa

  6. People need to get empowered too.LAND is very important to own and for the family. This is why people are cheated so easily, they are desperate to own LAND.The Law should visit the local authority and explain why such a thing can happen.

  7. The same thing is happening in Lusaka. My partner has just had half her plot, which has been in the family for years, allocated to create a road as part of some bogus development of 18 plots. Its even been on the TV news. The whole affair seems to be riddled with forged documents and she stands to lose a fortune.
