PF MPs win by-election seats

Share

Patriotic Front candidate, Mark Mushili, has retained the Ndola Parliamentary seat in a by-election held yesterday.

Mr. Mushili polled 10,722 votes beating his closest rival from the MMD Mary Zambezi who polled 7,563 votes.

UPND’s Joe Kalusa polled 1,417 while Masuzyo Chipanya OF UNIP got 339 votes.

Scollastic Mutale of the New Revolution Party polled 181 votes.

Ms Zambezi who had successfully petitioned Mr. Mushili’s election after the 2006 General election has again not accepted defeat.

She has refused to sign the results form, demanding a recount of the ballot papers.

And in Luapula, the Patriotic Front-PF has retained the Mwansabombwe Parliamentary by-election.

PF candidate, Samuel Chitonge, polled 4429 votes against his closest rival, an independent candidate, Sunday Maluba, who polled 1770 votes.

MMD’s Mable Kamangala polled One thousand and Ten votes while UNIP’s Mildred Chibwe accumulated 161 votes.

UPND’s Cephas Musonda, only managed 41 votes while Henry Ngosa of FDD got 69 votes.

The by-election was held after the courts had nullified the election of Mr. Chitonge in 2006.

  1. Congrats PF there is no way Mark Motorways can lose. What is interesting is that Chiluba has no influence over the people of Luapula and the sooner MMD realise the better.im sure if MMD wins they will dump Chiluba because they were thinking he still commands some influence.Viva PF.

  2. Ba Mary naimwe, accept that you have lost. finshi mufwaya, kuli chiluba mwaliliile nakuli nyama soya nakwena mykefwaya ukulya? timizibani.

  3. Looking at the outstanding areas l honestly think RB hasnt got a prayer. To me it seems he cant buy a vote in the remaning areas to catch the cobra

  4. It is over for mmd, oh have u heard of the truck that has been in Ndola today with ballot papers? They are trying to rig but failing.

  5. Analyzing 2006 results in comparison to 2008 obtaining results, here are my deductions so far:
    1. Sata has significantly increased his winning margins (by as much as 3-fold) in areas that he narrowly won in 2006 i.e Northern, Luapula and some constituencies in Lusaka and CB. Importantly, he has dramatically reduced the margins by which he is loosing (about 2.5 fold) in areas that he previously lost in Northern and Central provinces.
    2. Given the scenario that HH is heavily spoiling votes for RB in NW and Western, while Sata is doing the same (better in some instances) as he did previously in these areas, and considering that HH is nowhere near the finish line, it is logical that Sata wins.

  6. Am back now and waiting for the official announcement by Judge Florence Mumba at MICC.

I am here now to take over the updates from the Zedians who were there the whole day.

  13. mary zambezi stop wasting time for the people of ndola central.we have rejected you.find yourself another place to go to.

  14. He is da olny man wth good thougt of zambia.RrrrrrrrBeeeeeeee. oooooooooop!!! I met pabwtoooooooooooooøoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

  15. bane ba Munkoyo kwena we are relying on u to giving us the details am from Ndola Central, but mary should just accept the results this time any way whoe ver wins Zambia is a good country Zoona Zima Ndola ni zee well done again

  16. Time Mary Zambezi quit politics if she cannot accept defeat gracefully. Lyonse kulilisha imwe. Siya MM asebenze nchito we!

Congrats MP Mark Mushili. MM, soldier on man and bring progress to the Constituency.

  17. Judge Mumba is not yet in her seat. No explanation given for the delay albeit just a 10 minutes. An announcement has been given that the results will be delayed due to concerns by others including the PF who are raising issues.

  18. PF says they are disappointed with the MMD’s announcement that they would win through a projection which was not substantiated. PF say in 2006 Mbita Chitala again made an announcement. Two polling places in kalabo were still voting at late as 16hrs today and PF is wondering if this is where MMD wanted to put in votes. The argument is that the remaining 56 constituencies are not rural per se but most are actually urban. Also fax messages with results are showing up about 5-6 hours late from the time they were received. issues of trucks with voting materials getting broken down in border towns don’t show confidence. PF says there should be no need to declare winners before ECZ does declare.

  19. mpombo was saying that mmd ib cb has got more votes than sata for bye elections for mp why again fails to win the bye elections congrast, mr mushili

  20. whic win is chitala is talking about coz the ecz have so far counted 93 out of 150 its just 57 remaing ,and this are places of hh as well miyanda and pf do you think that mmd has to be taking like 4000 votes out of 57 which is remaing unless they rig but not this time coz zed pipo now wants pure domocracy

  21. Guys keep us posted.
I hope this time Mwaanga will not dribble us. Oh! if the Spitting Cobra wins the shameless will Sakwiba and his gal frined Nawaki will lose the jobs they was promised!

  22. I totally agree with Munkoyo, the remaining constituencies are not rural. Let PF not sleep otherwise we shall have anothe Munali constituency.

By the way what has become of the guy caught in Munali trying to pump the boxes with premarked ballot? Mind you this is a govt official don’t expect RB’s cops to release any info soonest. The Post pleae dig it up we want to konw which side the guy belongs to

  23. Guys honestly i think they are some tricks being done here.If Michael Sata wins and, if malpractices are being done then they will want him to win by less than 50+1. So that they can be a re-run so that The MMD can rigg so that RB wins. This is where the extra ballot papers come in.

Munali issue is not a good sign. That man was definately doing a job for MMD.Anyhow he is only a suspect as of now but thats what i think.

Otherwise let us watch and see. I pray that they should be free and fair.

  24. 9,373 is registered voters fo Zambezi west can you tell me why it hsould take 72hrs hours to count 9373 as compared to mandevu with 37000 counted in less than 24hrs?

  25. MMD is full of crap, why do they always have to say they will win from the rural areas? Are there more registered voters in the rural areas than urban areas? The Munali incident is not the only one, even in the rural areas where their are hungry people the MMD is rigging there and no way can an opposition win.Even if the opposition combine forces they cannot win, MMD so specialised in vote rigging. They have done so much harm to this cuntry and they know if they lose they may be in serious problems with a new Govt. So they have to be in power at all costs. But this is not helping any Zambian back home. Shame on MMD, they are just making Zambia even more worse than it has been.

  26. Mr Sata needs to loose otherwise if he wins he will have no money for his social programs, Let MMD win then get then out of OFFICE in 2011.Mr Mwanawasa failed the country let Mr R.Banda finish his term

  27. its that time again in the democratic calender when citizens
choose what they need. And as a matter of fact the boat that has been sailing for so long has finally reached the shore and its impossible for a boat to sink at the shore.NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. ITS NOW TIME PF AND UPND POOLED THEIR RESOURCES (VOTES) TO DISLODGE MMD. THIS IS THE CALL FROM EVERY WELL MEANING ZAMBIAN WITH INTEREST AT HEART TO DEVELOP ZAMBIA. WE ZAMBIANS ARE HUMBLY ASKING BOTH PARTIES TO BURY THEIR HATCHETS AND JOIN HANDS. WE DO NOT WANT MMD/UNIP AGAIN. THERE IS TOO MUCH POVERTY IN THE COUNTRY WITH ALMOST EVERYTHING. TO PUT IT SIMPLY, PF, UPND PLEASE PUT TOGETHER YOUR VOTES AND KICK OUT MMD. THANKS.
