Godfrey Miyanda calls elections free and fair

Share

Heritage party president Brigadier General, Godfrey Miyanda, says the just ended presidential election was free and fair.

General Miyanda says he is satisfied with the manner in which the election has been conducted.

He said anyone disputing the outcome of the results should not resort to violence but seek legal redress.

General Miyanda says it is unfortunate that some leaders are already agitating violence when the final results of the elections have not been released.

He was speaking to reporters at the Electoral Commission of Zambia results centre in Lusaka.

The former Vice President said he would use the results of the elections to prepare for the 2011 general elections.

  1. this another job seeker. how can one be a president without MPs? he is a time worster, to hell with him & his pride.

  2. ci miyanda, he has nothing to lose, he was just making his name for less than 20000 votes even void did better than him, he now needs a minister position like nawakwai and sakwiba who were all over zambia making noise pollution for llupiya balanda,

    PRESIDENT LUPIYA BALANDA
    VICE BENNY TETA
    FOREIGN AFFAIRS VJ
ADVICER TO THE PRESIDENT FTJ (DROP CORRUPTION CHARGES)

ITS PAY BACK TIME TO THOSE WHO ENDORSED LUPIYA AND FIX CRITICS LIKE FRED MMEMBE ….TWAKULAUMFWAKO KU ZAMBIA

  3. why is cobra complaining when people like the have said the elections were free and fair. you have never accepted defeat the 3 times you have lost. shame mudala

  4. where has the noble man Miyanda gone? I think too much election defeats have a way in which it turns even decent people into sick people.

  5. General Miyanda. Excuse us but you were paid to divide the few elctions. The ones wasted on you could have gone to HH. Sad and apathy filled elections, you should instead say.

The choice between Sata and RB is leaving a number of us in a dillemma. Choosing between two evils. It’s hard for me to accept that either can become the president. But thanks be to God the Almighty that the next term is 3 years. Note that I am not saying ONLY because 3 years is long enough to destroy a country.
Reasons – Sata is a hooligan.
RB is a puppet surrounded by evil characters i.e. FTJ, VJ, add on you all know them.

  6. miyanda is somehow a cretin. ati he will use the less than 20,000 who voted for him for the 2011 elections. ngabonse bafwa? LOL

  8. Hhmmm what a crowd at woodlands stadium cheating sata. Those kaponyas knew that they had no voters cards.Whilst Sata and Post concentrated on open crowds, RB and MMD CONCENTRATED ON DOOR TO DOOR,BY DOING SO THEY KNEW WHO IS WORTH TALKING TO ‘V.CARD HOLDER’.SCHOOL IS VERY IMPORTANT.THE REPACATION OF SURROUNDING YOURSELF WITH THE LIKES OF WILLY NSANDA EVEN WHEN YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE INTELLECTUALLY HANDICAPPED.

  9. THE TITANIC IS SINKING, WHO WILL LIVE TO TELL THE STORY, SATA WILL BE JOINING A HISTORY OF POLITICIANS WHO WANTED TO BE PRESIDENT AND LOST; GOOD GUYS DONT WIN ALL THE TIME SORRY NEXT TIME.

  10. UYU KAPULI MIYANDA HIS MOTIVE IN THIS ELECTION WAS JUST TO SIPLIT OPPOSITION VOTES AND INDIRECTLY SUPPORT RB

  11. this is one of the f**lish statement am seeing here for the first time. I THOUGHT this man was intelligent enough to see what is happening to our country Zambia. To my surprise he is in support of those rigging. How can a educated person like Mr Godfrey Miyanda, really call this elections free and fair. These are the people you should allow rule our country Zambia, even he will be there in 2011 for the general elections, let him suffer. I think he is used to beg for the people in power, just like there paid for him to stand for the elections which just ended, only for confusing the results. This hell going on in Zambia.

  13. Guys I am wondering why we are viciously lashing at the General. What he has said makes sense; we need PEACE; if there was RIGGING let Sata prove. He is only a bitter loser, how can you win a national elections with votes like 200 in some constituenciess. The man has simply be rejected. I am not MMD or for their candidate but I am for PEACE!!!PERIOD.

  14. What a shame!! I have never heard of a leader who is proud to be the last in such an important election. He is trying to be noble for no cause. Am sure his votes were errouneous in most cases due to the masses who could not differeciate between the faces in the rural areas.

  15. 10 CONSTITUENCIES TO THE FINISH LINE, SIKONGO, SINJEMBELE, KALABO CENTRAL, NALOLO, ZAMBEZI WEST AMONG OTHERS, ALL NEVER VOTED FOR PF IN 2006, BETWEEN MMD AND PF THERE IS 8000 VOTES, BETWEEN THESE CONSTITUENCIES THERE IS 12 VOTES TO BE GRABED, IT FOLLOWS THAT THE TITANIC WILL NEED A STRONG PRAYER AND PLAYER TO BE SERVED, I CAN SEE IT SINKING, BUT WHAT MAKES ME SAD IS THAT THE WINNER MAY ONLY HAVE 5000 VOTES TO CELEBRATE ANY WAY A WIN IS A WIN EVEN IF IT IS OFFSIDE.

  16. I dont think that if the post had known of rigging that the MMD was involved in would have supported Sata Whats peopel take on this coz i personaly think there has been no rigging the general is right and people should know when they have lost

  17. To be very honest fellow Zambians and fellow bloggers, this is the right man for the next elections. He is young, he is able to articulate and accept defeat without humiliation, he just joined this race this time around at the finishing line and thus is why VOID has BEATEN him high.I have high hopes for him. He is not a mouthful like SATA,who is full of VULGAR.
I WILL VOTE FOR GM come next elections…. wise move…

  18. Some things are so basic that even a ten year old can comprehend. What Godfrey Miyanda doesn’t seem to understand is that a political party cannot function effectively let alone win an election without a proper vision, direction, representation and, last but not the least, money.Heritage party collapsed when Bwalya Chiti defected to MMD because there was no one left in the party with any financial muscle.Instead of splitting votes,he should merge with any of the other political parties because on his own he doesn’t stand a snowball chance in hell of becoming president. What a dumb general!

  19. Miyanda! He thought there will be a third and fourth position for this elections. Even spoiled ballots surpasses his votes, what a shame! I have never seen such stubbornness where he even knew that only one person will go to plot 1 and he didn’t stand any chance but he went ahead to cause circus in the filing of nominations. just what was his aim to vie for presidence? definitely it was to win!

  20. All parties has men on the ground at all poling stations. The party that sensitised their members on the importance of voting will carry the day. All results are posted on the walls/doors of poling stations. Pliz know that Sata is very unpopular in the rural areas to the point of being hated. If there was rigging where were the party reps on the ground? The opposition has itself to blame, they have won the election by a mile, only if their votes were combined. This is a lesson for 2011. One opposition party or united opposition will unseat the MMD not any other way.

  21. When i am aske d who our president is at least i can say its some old quite guy
Imagine what i could be saying if it was Sata?????LOL

  22. PF 679,082 39%
    MMD 688,190 40%
    UPND 323,409 19%
    HP 12,640 1%
    Void 21,725

They have surely massaged these figures. 144 consts. zedelectionsDOTorg.

  23. For all his shortcomings, Gen. Miyanda is a decent man. I don’t see much hope for Zambia in the near term. We are facing trying times and who do we have to guide us? Two septuagenarians whose motivation for the presidency has very little to do with the people’s plight. Then there is HH who could have done with some serious image builders to scrab off the tribal tag that he acquired in 2006. Imagine that the winner gets just over 700,00 votes yet more than a million voters didn’t bother to show up. People are not only fed up of MMD. They are fed up of all the crap from other parties as well.

  24. HOW COME VOID HAS MORE VOTES THAN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RB AND SATA ? I THINK SATA WILL HAVE A GOOD ARGUMENT.IF YOU ADD THE VOID VOTES TO SATA HE DIDNT LOSE.SO CHEER UP PF.WE CAN ONLY HAVE ONE WINNER.YOU GAVE RB A RUN FOR HIS MONEY.HE HAS NO LEGITIMACY , MORE THAN HALF ELECTORATES DID NOT VOTE FOR HIM.

  25. Mr Rupiah Bwezani Banda, Bashi Nenani and Thandiwe’s husband has bigger hill to climb. The world economic meltdown which has also left the World bank and IMF broke, will surely sweep Zambia. As people already know copper prices are falling and OPEC recently decided to cut down production so that they could push prices up. Tukalutamba pa Zed. Sata and HH should consider themselves lucky for having had lost this sham election. The kwacha is depreciating fast and worse if he replaces Fundanga with his sister Sherry Thole. Wafwa we mwana.

  26. well, well, well. If i recall correctly alot of you bloggers

PABWATOOOOOOOOOEEEEDDDD yourself to intense bowel movements. He who

That doesn’t feel too good does it? hahahhahahahahahaha!!! Next time don’t be so naive….*sticks tongue out*

  27. MIYANDA-MAY GOD FORGIVE YOU FOR DISTURBING OUR RESULTS.WHAT WAS GIVEN TO YOU WAS SUPPOSED TO GO TO SOME IN LINE OF PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL AND WE WERE GOING TO HAVE BETTER DIFFERENCES THAN THE 50 50 SITUATION YOU HAVE MADE US RUN IN—-WE KNOW WHO USED YOU—-BE HONEST AS A CHILD OF GOD

  28. #21 Don’t be emotional. I myself Michael Sata will never rule this country Zambia. You know it. Mwanawasa once told you this fact. Leave Miyanda alone. Luck you Zambians I would have destroyed this country. Viva RB. God Bless Mother Zambia.

  29. 51, I supported Sata for that same reason, he is reckless. Now in business the greater the stakes the higher the risk, that was my rationale. I feel bad now that i have destroyed my good standing with zedians for nothing. kwashalafwe ukusolva ifya nkongole nomba….

  30. UUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuBWATO BWA BUNDA ………….OHHHHH WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE BAKAPONYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BAYA ZWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  31. HH + Sata’s votes = 1 100 000!!! That is democracy! There was poor judgement from these two guys. They misled 1.1 million voters and spoiled their votes. They are guilty! Stone them! guilty! RB would have conceded defeat by yesterday had these guys come together just to grab power in the last 2 years. Then compete on different tickets in 2011. They just couldn’t agree.

Sata stormed out of that meeting which was attended by KK. It is on record that Mr Sata is a very sick man! HH would have compromised, but Mr Sata stormed out. Does that ring a bell? You can see what the man is capable of.

  32. We have always told you. Shouting is not the game. Ba Sata, now you will face the bills for the hired chopper without our money which you had promised them. They will chase you like Penza and even shoot you because you conned them. There was no rigging and the votes were very transparent and predictable. Pabwato is a ONE MAN party and we wanted democracy – Ubuteko ubwakuisosela and NOT being told WHAT to do like small kids. Well, it was SATA who wanted taxpayer’s money spent for this election and NOW he has proved that Zambians DO NOT WANT SATA. Can he get some advice on what to do next? 2011 isn’t too far but do you still want to drink his beer? He may be too broke to afford it. Well done

  33. 90% of the vote from Southern province has gone to HaHi. It is very clear though that UPND will never win elections in Zambia ever. Is Ha Hi capable of self examination and finding a formula for UPND?

What next for PF (Apart from asking for a recount)?

What will Sug*r daddies cabinet look like with so many interest groups and individuals?

We can debate, predict and prognosticate and analyse while we wait for Monday.
What say you Nine Chale, Maestro H tonga bull, Ponyax, Zedian,

  34. I think we need to file a restraining order for the general. 2011 futi? awe! You have spoiled enough chances for others. Ndimwe mweka?

  35. #56, I couldn’t agree with you more. Mr Sata is reeling from emotions of fear for having incurred millions of dollars towards the hired Helicopter from South Africa. Well done Zambians! This man was going to turn us into small kids, pushing us around. Seen him storming into ZEC office? I feared for Zambians under Sata, really. Intellectuals, apparently, would have suffered more especially the VCs from the two Universities. He was going to drag them out like Kids. Yes, Mr Sata, we have liberated ourselves through the vote. Well predicted, Sir. No more of that venom again! May all the investers in Zambia enjoy their stay but treat Zambians well especially those in rural areas.

  36. “He said anyone disputing the outcome of the results should not resort to violence but seek legal redress.”

This is all the general aims for in an election; sueing others. Uko kwena bapena. Aim to win! Nisnhi?

  37. YOU PIPO, TOTAL NUMBER OF VOTES CAST ACCORDING TO ECZ IS 1,597,604.
BUT TOTAL NUMBER OF VOTES COUNTED SO FAR WITH 6 CONSTITUENCIES REMAINING IS 1,725,064. CAN SOMEBODY EXPLAIN THE DIFFERENCE PLIZ!!!

  38. just shut up gen. miyanda and enjoy the benefits promised to you by the MMD. ist that why you stood knowing too well you lose…

  39. How many people are obviously happy to see the result of this election? 1. The Chinese – they never trusted his change of mind, 2. The Sun Hotel Management in Livingstone – although Sata was right about their apartheid attitudes, 3. The Army Commander – he was very angry with Sata for misrepresenting his advice to the officers, 4. Inspector General of Police – he was surprised at the suddent attach from Sata, 5. The foreign reporters – they can’t wait to leave, Sata accused them of being bias, 6. KK, his advice has come true, 7. Dr Chiluba, his advice has worked, 8.Ms Mwanawasa Maureen, she will have a hearing from Banda, 9. All Chiefs in Zambia, they don’t like Sata. Who is sad? Lusakites!!

  43. #69 don’t listen to the Kenyans. They have a bad record. They don’t want to look so bad. Can’t you read between the lines. The Kenyan’s bloodbath tarnished that country. We always see them as Luos and Kikuyus NOT kenyans anymore. They’d hurt to see a peaceful transition of political power in Zambia..and lose investment. They will jump on minor issues just to save face. Forget Kenyan news. Tell me about other broadcasting services. Here is South Africa, they are saying the elections were generally peaceful and Mr Sata’s lead is declining fast. That’s all.
Abash Kenya’s reporters!! They are paid by Mmembe’s POST. Period!
Zambia is a peaceful country even ba Kaponya know that!!

  49. they use the remote constituencies to calculate their deficit. hw come MMD iwine cungulo, kwati ni ba Mighty Mufurila wanderers? Bwafya teti muwine no matter wat am nt in zambia bt i knw ndemwebakofye. ryt nw voting is useless, there is no democracy. people are being robbed of what is theirs.

  50. # 76. South Africa deficit is now 29% of GDP imagine that! In fact, South Africa is importing more food than it is producing. Can you imagine that. Leave Zambia’s deficit alone. We are not alone. The rand moved from R6.5 to R11.3 to a US dollars. But they honk cars when the rand moves under R10 to a dollar. To me the rand depreciated +75%. The Kwacha depreciated by about 32%. That says something about macro-economic stability. The Kwacha lost value when Sata said he will take 25% of their investment. Next week the Kwacha will appreciate because the snake is caged in a hole! It is Sata who forced depreciation in 2006 when he said he would chase the Chinese.
Zambia is OK with copper @+$3000/t

  51. #79 shut up! Democracy to you is when villagers don’t vote? Or when your favorite candidate wins. For me, I was very clear about Mr Sata: I said, I don’t like him. But if he wins the elections then that’s the wish of the people, I will go with it. But I will watch Sata closely. Fortunately for me, Sata has lost. I don’t blame anybody. I will not trash Zambia even if I don’t live there. I love Zambia and my guesswork about a potential president are always correct.

Remember that in 2006, Zambians in urban areas rejected Mwanawasa. They embranced him later. We told them he was the right man then. Of the two men, RB is more steady and respectful, he articulates policies like Levy.

  52. Where are the kaponyas who were shouting PABWATOOOO? The real deal is yet to come but RB deserves it more than anyone else because he handled the task during the most difficult period. Acting president with no powers over ministers! It is a hard job to do and people who have NEVER worked or held positions of responsibility under similar circumstances may thought RB is weak but the truth is he had no powers at the time. Wait and see RB after he has been sworn in? You will tell me that the man is okay. What I have heard from people around him is that he works very hard and is very fair. Let us wait and see!! But I hope he gets rid of Mulongoti immediately!!

  53. Imwe can Kenya tell anyone anything? They just want others to look as bad as them. Twakana! they failed to run their elections and their President was sworn in at a secret location a few minutes after rigging!

  54. Iwe Miyanda i wish you knew how am feeling then you would keep your mouth Zipped up.

AM boiling with anger because am also losing my job.

  55. The POST painted a very bad picture of RB. Most church people fell for the trick. If RB is at all corrupt then that it was just the nature of Africans trying to survive in poorly run Zambia decades ago. Very few politicians were spotless during KK era. You had to play outside the cricle to survive. There are millions who are guilty. This is not a blind support for RB, no! But Levy has left a new dispensation. RB, like Sata, like Chitala, or Guy Scott or Simon Zukas or Chiluba..all know that Levy has left a different dispensation of ” punishing govt graft”. Lets hope that RB will keep the promise of punishing corruption and nipping it in the bud.

  56. its the end game..more zambians have got to tap into the higher frequency and be more enlightened..You cannot win with your vote because their are several election fraud mechanics that can be employed by the ruling govt.

  57. Fello compatriots,me i have sumthin that has been troubling me about Gen Miyanda & his Village concept. Why don’t villagers vote for Miyanda’s village concept???? Huh,but villagers also! And u PF cadres here don’t even get excited esp wen i say “compatriots” bcoz it sounds like “patriotic”-careful cisungu ichi ka!But anyway, the results can’t be any better than this.I’m jst worried wit the shadow cabinet RB has drawn up where i saw Nawakwi as VP.My worry is that in this october erections is it okay 2 put a woman in such a top position, huh?Me i was thinkin that probably this time around VJ wuld be allowed 2b in such a top position. But anyway, its ok afterall even Vera is jst left @the bottom

  58. Miyanda please keep quiet. “The former Vice President said he would use the results of the elections to prepare for the 2011 general elections.” What results is he going to use. Tired of recycled politicians, its time us the new generation took over from these geriatrics.

  59. # 88. I agree with you upto where you write october erections. English is not our mother tongue but we can’t afford to make crucial spelling mistakes like writing erections. Worse still you even ask whether it is okay 2 out a woman in such a top position.

And for your own information. VJ should never hold the top position you refer to assuming it is VP.

  60. A HOUSE DIVIDED CANNOT STAND. Let us the peolple that are abroad not even begin to complain. The opposition was divided thus they lost; Half the electorate did not showup because there was no one to show them the light. By any chance if General Miyanda sees this I hope he reads it out Loud, it is about time he got some vocal and intelligently wise people to work with him. Time is now, infact I am going to find his party email address and phone number to convey my message. STAY POSTED I SHALL INFORM YOU GUYS ON EVERY THREAD THAT LT POSTS. ONE MAN THAT CAN LEAD THE NATION BACK TO MORAL DECENCY. To all Sata haters, do not; that man would have ushered in a good work ethic for the Zambian peopl

  61. @#82 – I agree. People keep dismissing and discounting the rural vote, even though the majority of Zambia’s population resides in rural areas. I’m sure if Sata’s largest support base was rural, PF supporters would be proclaiming ‘a villager’s’ right to vote, and cry foul if people said on urban votes should determine who wins.

  62. more fuel reductions. any other promises from RB during campaigns people must start demanding for what they ve voted for

  63. 90.Zambian in Norway ,sorry bro u failed to catch it altogether!Let others who will make the right connections comment. And did u jst make some “correction” with your spellings in #90??? I meant to write “october erections” just the way its written up!I deliberately mentioned vera bcoz she’s the one who was quoted as saying “in this yr’s erections all women shuld be in top positions so that they see things as they come…” Well, thats during FTJ’s era and I’m sure those who are better informed than u Zambian in Norway stil remember that quite well!Sorry if i made u excited by writing “october erections”.I understand Norway is very cold so u probably don’t get erections so often!

  64. Sata spent a lot of campaigning in Luapula and Northen provinces where he was already strong. He was just flying over other provinces

  65. If PF find another leader I can support them. i do not trust sata. he changes like a chameleon. I want to see PF manifesto first

  66. Miyanda is full of bolony. These baby boomers in Zambia need to understand that they will not have it their way not now and not this time. RB and his corrupt friends should stop this or else we will all match to Zambia and enforce this change.

  67. Guys, MMD strongholds always last to be known is still my qustion.

u may say they a rural areas too far from lusaka ‘MICC in particular’.
but i challenge you all to be rogical and reasonable.
    Here we are:
kapiri mposhi, serenje, chasamba, etc not yet known.
do you call these remote areas?

  68. I want to check and document all promises made by RB during his campaign and will use them as weapon against him 2011. Politicians just open their mouths before thinking, they are liars. I feel pity for Fred Membe and I want him to be victimised because the Post was just behaving like another opposition political party. They campaigned hard for Sata but abandoned HH that was sad very sad. that is one reason that made HH get very low votes. “Satamania hits Southern province”

  69. Sata must chase all those MPs from his party who were campaigning against him. it is not in order and against principles of democracy to have people who want to destabilise political parties. he must organise a rally and tell his supporters to physically sort out those who are working against their own political party if the courts are delaying. They are political prostitutes or mischiefs.

  70. FORMULA ONE:
    POLE POSITION: MASSA
    2ND:TRULI
    3RD:RAIKONNEN
    4TH: HAMILTON
I TOLD YOU GUYS THAT VJ IS IN BRAZIL, COME TOMORROW MASSA IS WINNING

  71. Sata should blame the Lozis and Tongas who gave him a few hundreds while his major opponents were getting thousands in their strongholds. Thanks to KK who coined One Zambia- One Nation and this worked well for Banda, yet Sata won outrightly in the Bemba land: CB, Luapula and Northern and HH won in Southern. Sorry,my mum is Bemba and dad is from Central in case you think otherwise and I dont care what you say. Tribal politics have failed to work for Sata and HH. One Zambia One Nation.

  72. I think very soon Brigadier General Miyanda is going to join the MMD and take over from RB as their next presidential candidate, in 2016. RB still wants to stand in 2011. he has done his part of taking some votes away from Sata although he has been beaten by the fifth candidate called void.

  73. Just on the first corner Hamilton will be eliminated. he must not try to be silly tomorrow. he should let Massa and raikonen go and check where Alonso will be. Hamilton is very pompous may be it due lack of education. However he is the most exciting driver at moment

  74. Well done RBB, I never supported you as I wanted an energetic young man who is also equally an economic manager like you to take over. But I am nevertheless happy that you have won and saved us from getting into the teeth of a dictator, uneducated, corrupt and insensitive to investors individual who could have spoiled everything for Zambia. Already I am affected as I have problems making some mathematics on how my money will convert to dollars in order for me to import some good just because of Sata’s unreasonable statement on investors which indirectly affected the exchange rate. VIVA RBB!!!

  75. I support HH and it is unfortunate he has lost but am glad he gave people of Zambia a choice and they have picked the person they think is best for the job. For now they have to live with this decision for next three years. As for HH he had an uphill battle especially with the media, both private and govt, against him. I think that HH can now move on and concetrate on his business; I don’t want him to be a career politician. He has a young family that he has to build a future for. As for RB I say congratulations but I want him to deal with Mmembe (not the post) as his first priority.

  78. Once more the opposition acting in selfish interest failed to unite and remove the MMD from power. This will repeat itself in 2011. I don’t understand why we cannot learn from past events. You cannot do the same thing and expect a different outcome. The combined opposition vote clearly shows that MMD is not popular but as long as the opposition is not united they will be around for the foreseable future.

  79. Kashimani, you are just a bitter man. I know you are really disappointed with the performance of your preferred candidate. The other day I reminded people that Zambia is made up of 9 provinces and for Sata to put his hopes on only 4 provinces is naivity of the worst kind. Zambians have spoken and tomorrow we have a new President, period. Naiwe chi Georgetown DC you are shedding tears right now, na appetite naipwa. I told you!

  80. If we were to write history for our future generations, what would we say cost Sata and PF to lose?

Also seeing that none got 100% voted, what would we say are the reasons some people did not vote for

    1) RB and or MMD
    2) Sata and or Pf
    3) HH and or UPND
    4) Miyanda and or HP

Politics aside, what can we objectively tell the future, after all the dust has settled?

  81. #60, Kantubasula, you wrote “We can debate, predict and prognosticate and analyse while we wait for Monday.
What say you Nine Chale, Maestro H tonga bull, Ponyax, Zedian,”. I will respond carefully shortly – as soon as the full results from all constituencies are in. Take care and be blessed.

  82. No candidate got 51% . King Cobra should demand a runoff or that a Kenya style government of national unit (GNU) be constituted !!!!. Cobra – President, RB – Prime Minister, HH – Deputy Prime Minister

  83. wrt #124.

    1) RB – results of 2006 and 2008 have similar pattern, implying some people are fed up with MMD doesnt matter their candidate LPM or RB. You can see this in urban areas like Lsk and CB. So RB, no vote, MMD no vote.

Could also be that RB did not impress some people. Too old peharps or just not inspiring at all, especially for those wanting change. Recent economic wind may have done him hard too, just like G Bush in USA – the Kwacha value falling, copper prices etc. Intellectuals and business minds may have preffered HH. Also company of wolves like Teta and mulongoti may have cost seem some votes. Being Sugar daddy too.

  84. wrt 124

    1) RB contd. – the K15m did him bad. Many now think he’s less than a mwanawasa though he was vice president. This could have cost him some votes. Also, some people are not sure who the guy is, sympathiser of UNIP philosophy or really a blue MMD, embracing market led economy.

It’s had to see what cost him votes in rural areas aprt from tribal or regional sentiments. However, touring with Sikota and them FDD guys could have reduced the impact of this sentiment.

The Post newspaper could have also swayed the undecided against him.
He also seemed to bungle his campaign team, some MMD felt left out. He seems to have no tough mind of his own but seem to ride on LPM.

  85. #129 good point. May be we should adopt the USA system where regions are given electoral votes. In USA you can win the popular vote, counting each vote, yet lose the national elections. In this way, urban areas like Lsk and CB would have more weight than say NW province.

  86. There is nothing like rigging in politics.Sata go sleep. You never did your work nicely.Even if you have 100 sheep you have to leave the 99 to look for one lost sheep. You and me are catholics ,you very much know the parable of the lost sheep.you concentrated in urban areas whilest you shud have concentrated on the least developed areas of Zambia.Your going to sp was a mistake. In this election Western province was going to be your key or some other province.Your political strategy wasnt cool.Time to quit ,you plus that your boy hakainde

  87. I hope the have been no heartattacks reported about Zambians of the unelected PF leader Sata cadreship around the whole world. I also hope that Sata will find time to have himself checked medically after this hard fought run that will be concluded in the next feww minutes.

“One Zambia, one Nation.” Let the ‘Zambian Dream’ of having prosperous Nation continue and not remain a nightmare as it is now for president Hakainde Hichilema is still around. However, we still need a strong opposition that will keep RBB on his election campaign promises for 2011 is quite near.

  88. GEN MIYANDA IS RIGHT, ELECTION WERE FREE AND FAIR THAT IS DEMOCRACY.AS FOR HH HE DID VERY WELL THIS TIME AS UPND. REMEMBER 2006 AS UDA THREE PARTIES FDD,UNIP, & UPND HE GOT 25% BUT NOW ALONE AT 20%.LOOKING AT RESULTS OF NW,WESTERN, AND CENTRAL HE HAS IMPROVED. COME 2011 THE MAN CAN DO BETTER. WHAT IS NEEDED FOR UPND IS TO ORGANISE THE GRASS ROOT: BRANCHES,WARDS, DISTRICT & PROVINCIAL LEADERSHIP. AT THE MOMENT THE PARTY DEPENDS ON THE PRESIDENT TO RUN THE WHOLE SHOW, WHICH IS NOT HEALTH FOR ANY PARTY TO SUCCEED. I HOPE THE SECRETARY GENERAL IS READING THESE COMMENTS.

  89. 137# I’M IMPRESSED WITH OUR MAN IN NW, DID YOU SEE HOW HE DID IN MWINULUNGA EAST? FATASTIC. THESE ELECTION WERE LOST IN CB. WE NEED TO START ORGANISING OUR PARTY IN CB IF WE HAVE TO WIN 2016. THIS TIME HE IMPROVED IN NW, WESTERN, CENTRAL. LUSAKA HE DID WELL IN KANYAMA.

  90. 63# HEY DID SATA HIRE HELICOPTER FROM RSA WHICH HE DID NOT PAY FOR? IF HE DID NOT PAY HE MAY GO IN LIQUIDATION. HH CAN ASSIST HIM IF HE IS APPOINTED A RECIEVER MANAGER.

  91. “The Former Information Minister says election rigging is a serious offense. Mr. Mwaanga told Journalists at his residence in Lusaka, today that it is sad that politicians are failing to concede defeat in the elections urging Zambians to remain peaceful…Some political opposition parties have accused Mr. Mwaanga of vote-rigging after a dramatic reversal of early results in Thursday’s elections.”
    Source: w w w . muvitv . co m / new s / pnew s234 . h t m l
Bacibulu, fellow Mwaanga, has done what he knows best – to campaign vigorously and bring confidence to a campaign team – just like Maestro Hhehhehhehhe has boosted the HH campaign on here LT. “United we stand, divided we fall.” – Unknown

  92. #139/140, VILLAGE CONCEPT, nice reading from you. Our man HH has done a great job, hats off to the mighty UPND Team as a whole. Together, YES we can. All your comments are well written and they will be very useful to the UPND team. Now, we do not need to relax here – by making sure the party structures continue with our “Door-to-door” and “Phone-to-phone” camapaigning strategy. We need to reason with people and eventually help them (voters) to understand the UPND’s manifesto. We need to hold rallies to thank all the voters and non-voters countrywide as soon as possible for giving us a leader we can trust with continued NCC deliberations that will hopefully give us a (50 + 1)% clause in The ZC

  93. 144# IT IS SATA WHO SHOULD BLAME HIMSELF FOR WALKING OUT FROM MEETING AT KK’s HOUSE THAT WAS POSITIVE MOVE BUT HE DID NOT SEE SENSE HE SHOULD BLAME HIMSELF.

  94. #143, exactly on the spot. Our UPND campaign must continue. We are surely getting there and 2011 will be a different ball game. Sata’s former and future image builders and mouthpiece The POST will have become irrelevant by then.Infact, I am now appealing to president HH to seriously consider coming up with an independent newspaper in the print media arrangement and also on the Internet.President HH must also find a place for the Kaponyas in the mighty UPND’s manifesto and a way to reach out to them. One thing that was clear in this election is that many people were willing to risk leaving HH for 2011 while they made sure that Sata’s Zambian political career comes to an end. 2011 will be nice.

  95. #148, eni sha. Litumeza lahulu. Let us continue to do the needful for Zambia. This UPND campaign should not be only for the UPND, but for the approximately 12 million Zambian people. We all know that Zambia in not a poor country but a poorly-managed country under our current government. I hope RBB will live upto his campaign promises because failure to do this will see the MMD as a rhetorical political party. We need the fertiliser to be cheap and subsdised at the rate he did it for the campaign period. We need fuel prices to be lowed. In fact,we need RBB to fulfill his promises so that all of us Zambians will not only see quick development in election times but thorughout a GRZ’s mandate

  96. #149, WHAT YOU ARE SAYING IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING, LOOKING AT THE WAY THE MEDIA MISMANAGED OUR IMAGE FOR SURE HAVING OUR PRESS MEDIA WILL BE A GREAT MOVE.

  97. “Mr Sata rejects the latest results, saying “a bunch of thieves” is trying to steal the election… His party, the Patriotic Front, said it would go to court to demand a recount.”

    Source: news . bbc . co . uk / 2 / hi / africa/7704525 . s t m

All the best Mr Sata in your petition and I hope you will not lose more money after this election campaign has had a heavy toll on you and your PF.

As for president Hakainde Hichilema, please let us UPND campaign team focus on convincing the electorate to vote for our would-be government in 2011. There is no time and need to participate in a law “academic exercise” as you (HH) put it in 2006.

  98. ECZ why wait for sijembela & Sikongo results to declare RB as winner, the man has won it will not change much. After all those are strong hold for MMD & UPND.

  99. WHAT IS A PROBLEM WITH SATA HE THINKS ZAMBIA IS LUSAKA & CB? JUST ACCEPT DEFEAT.YOU HAVE LOST WITH HONOR WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT BWANA ZAMBIANS HAVE SPOKEN FULL STOP

  100. #151, this is the way to go. We can not depend on unprincipled media character in our efforts to bring ecomonic emancipation to the Zambian masses. In fact they have terribly tarnish our image as individual tribes and a Zambian people. I do not know if you saw the report that was given on the BBC on all presidential candidates in this 2008 election written by our felow Zambian a Musonda Chibamba: “The BBC’s Musonda Chibamba profiles the four Zambian presidential candidates standing in Thursday’s polls and hoping to succeed the late President Levy Mwanawasa who died in August after suffering a stroke.”
It was a terrible and sad analysis on president HH. I wonder what kind of breed some are.

  101. #156, check out:

“The party quickly organised a convention to elect a new leader but the selection process soon disintegrated into an ethnic struggle. ”

    Source: news . bbc . co . uk / 2 / hi / africa / 7693337 . s t m

Make sure you enjoy the audio interview of the man of the moment president Hakainde Hichilema though.

  102. The elections were free and fair. Sata has lost the same way he lost the last two time. He is too dull to leaarn from past mistakes. he should have campaigned hard in rural areas instead of just concentrating on Lusaka, CB and his tribal home land. His loss is a blessing to the country. Zambia does not need such charectors like Sata. By the way, he should just concede defeat. When he was leading, the elections were free and fair. Now that he has lost, he wants to make noise. Can he prove how the elections were rigged, who rigged them, when and where? Why ae we allowing ourselves to be manipulated by this uneducated survage? VIVA RB.

  103. #To all Zambians, kindly visit w w w . zambiaelections . o r g and then view the results from all the 150 constituencies if they have all been put forth by now paying attention to voting in Luapula, Northern and copperbelt provinces. Ask yourself why people voted for Sata afterwards.
Also, check the results from The Southern Province and ask yourself why exactly is it that people voted for president Hakainde Hichilema.
When you are done, come back on here and challenge me, Maestro Hhehhehhehhe, on the tribalism in Zambia.
Then attempt to answer: what can an undereducate and unelected PF leader do to move Zambia in a development foward manner?

  104. 158# CHE, YOU ARE 100% right how can the elections rigged when results are not in his favour. Where rigged when he was leading. poor Fishing (PF) will always cry foul.

  105. The general is not normal … Twanaka nenwe bakelenka!

Fi MMD: Ngamwapakama mulatulaba. I hate the idea of the same useless thugs and thieves ruling us. Can we build a state house kumushi where the chap got the votes; after all he needs his people!

  106. #160, VILLAGE CONCEPT, great stuff and all the best. Have all the results been released now by the ECZ? I am waiting to tell Sata’s PF cadres to learn to have manners if they ever hope to win an election of Presidential magnitude in our country Zambia.

  107. Sata should blame himself for using the boat in a competition like this one, when others are flying.it does not matter what horse power wastse puddling with sticks.then you stand and blame the lozi people and rural areas for not being Satanists. No question of tribal we hard no lozi,we could have gone for tribal cousin HH but the country was put first.

  108. Crying…….whatever will beeee, will beeeee. The future is not ours to seeeeeee. ……….whatever will beee will beeeee!

  109. RB has no heart to develop Zambia it was going to be better if it would be Sata or HH. You will see what will happen on devlopmental issues ZAmbia will now gett poorer. He will be giving excuses of other things saying thats why things cant work. Those ten mines wont be opened fuel prices will go high, mealie meal higher, unza closed. and a lot more things will be medioka.Mukesanjeba. Lets just pray that the last count shall turn against the riggers MMD and PF to win.Only God can save us from this situation.

  110. Pabwatoooooooooooooooo. By the way Miyanda has no morals, his aim was to split votes. He can never be president and this time he has tarnished his name forever. The only hope for 2011 is HH or Sata.unless of course MMD riggs which is synonymous to them.

All the best let GOd’d will be done will continue to pray for our mother land. That God will continue to Bless it.

  111. Sata has always been an irresponsible talker. we have mothers and fathers in our lives- do you insult them?
The curse has come to hit him. I am an individual – wafuma kwisa? That is the zambian culture. One zambia one nation!!

  112. Sata is paying back for past sins. He devorsed the wife at the expense of a a UTH Doctor called Muareen Kaseba .We dedicated the victory to LPM.We saw it coming.

  113. Ndaakona lino basa. Ndiya kulibonya kuzyopamaanza kulibaboobatika zunde. Aabo batikazyundwe ndizi kubapa imajwi aabeledde. Mupone cibotu no bantu a cisi cesu toonse tobana Zambia.

  114. G Kunda spent most hin time in Serenje compagning. The rest of the Patriotic foools like GBM spent the time visualising and gearing to be vice president.VIVA LPM ,You died as a sad man and now we are fulflling you word. Like you said , no single cent will be taken away from a poor Zambian. We have lost friends because MMD has won. RB was is annoninted and God as conitnued to bless him as per your wish. You provided leadership and this what we are enjoying. God has has continued to protect us and the Sepent called King Cobra has no more Vernom.

  115. IMWE GUYS STOP INSULTING SATA AND PRAISING RB. ITS ZAMBIANS WHO HAVE WON THESE ELECTIONS. SATA HAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE DEMOCRACY IN THIS COUNTRY. MMD WILL NEED TO ADDRESS SOME OF THE CONCERNS RAISED BY SATA OR ELSE THEY WILL NOT MAKE IT IN 2011. THEY ARE A MINORITY PARTY AT PRESIDENT LEVEL AT LEAST. JUST WATCH OUT FOR RB CABINET…BIG AND UNINSPIRING. WE CONTINUE AS USUALL..BUSINESS AS USUAL FOR GUYS LIKE ME IN URBAN AREAS WITH MARKETABLE SKILLS. THE VILLAGERS MAY HAVE DECIDED BUT THEY WILL NOT SEE ANY BENEFIT FOR A LONG TIME TO COME. I AM NOT A SATA SUPPORTER. PERSONALLY I FAVOURED HH….BUT…..WELL COOL WITH ME…AT A PERSONAL LEVEL I SHOULD BE CELEBRATING BECAUSE MMD POLICIES FAVOUR ME…

  116. I AM PRO-POOR..I FEEL FOR THE POOR AND VULNERABLE IN THIS COUNTRY THAT IS WHY I DID NOT VOTE FOR MMD. I AM NEITHER RICH NOR POOR BUT BY ZAMBIAN STANDARDS I AM OK… SO ZAMBIANS HAVE SPOKEN,,,,,,WHO AM I TO …….

  117. AS LONG AS MIYANDA CONTINUE CONTESITING I WILL ALWAYS GIVE HIM MY VOTE HE IS THE MAN FOR THE TOP JOB MIYANDA IS THE PRESIDENT IN 2011.. WE NEED PEACE IN ZAMBIA.

  118. cut the brotther some slack, at least he went toe to toe with VOID..i think he is looking at the point of view of his parts and VOID’s…but really VOID and Miyanda should have hooked up! Ba Miyanda you are better off keeping your mouth shut with your ridiculous performance and wastage of ballot paper and votes, take a rest and retire

  119. miyanda give up politics..u are to week of a man to rule zambia! so shut up big man and just live yo life.. dont u dare contest in 2011 let it go.. ala!

  120. miyanda is a worst of all worst people to advise us. even where advise is i rejetc it since coming from a loner. even his wife must be ashamed. Miyanda banked on a government of national unity to by default find himself into cabinet by virtue that he contested the elections. he is incosequential and never ever has he beena a factor. Miyanda shut up.the elcectuions you are endorsing were asham, a farce. check a trip to lilayi police training college and stay there.cage yourself. Uzuikambisa weka naku ziyanka weka.

  121. miyanda is a worst of all worst people to advise us. even where advise is free I have rejected it,since coming from a loner. even his wife must be ashamed. Miyanda banked on a government of national unity to by default find himself into cabinet by virtue that he contested the elections. he is incosequential and never ever has he beena a factor. Miyanda shut up.the elcections you are endorsing were asham, a farce. take a trip to lilayi police training college and stay there.cage yourself. Uzuikambisa weka naku ziyanka weka.

  122. Miyanda is a poor soul and really needed the money to help him start afresh because of poor planning…boss keep on dreaming and honestly who will vote for you in 2011???young generation is our time to move the country forward….

  123. Mr President Rupiah Bwezani Banda, please find a very healthy and energetic MAN IN THE MMD OR ELSEWHERE TO be the vice President of Zambia, please. I personally do not need Sata to have another chance of almost winning the Zambian Presidency since you are quite old now. I would like you to search carefully and not to be moved by those who campaigned for you only especially those with questionable reputation and records.Thank you all Zambians for making sure that Sata lost.To president HH,continue doing a noble cause for Zambia. No matter how the MMD copuy your mighty UPND manifesto, they will never succeed in implementing it because an uplifted material will never equal the original one.

  124. I strongly believe in God being in charge of all things, in other words nothing can be done without Him knowing. The second aspect about Him is that He can neither change nor disown Himself. The third thing is God is gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love. When He allows something to happen, it may not necessarily mean that it is correct and so He can allow a corrupt leader or even a dictator to rule. BUT, whatever wrong those people might have done, He will certainly punish. Remember also in bible times that He punished people who deliberately led others astray. THE ONE WHO THEREFORE CREATES A SITUATION WHICH LEADS PEOPLE TO SUSPECT FOUL PLAY OF WHATEVER MAGNITUDE WILL BE ANSWERABLE

  125. I had respect for Miyanda but not any more, the guy is not serious at all.

It only shows that its SATA you dont like. It s like every one is scared of SATA why????? SATA DONT GIVE UP GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    WE ARE BEHIND YOU.

  126. #This follows the nice pictures in w w w . lusakatimes . c o m / ? p = 5245. I just like to see how Former President FTJ Chiluba (Hon. Doctor, Malawi) dribbled Sata 3 times in a roll – a reall and nice hat-trick. I wrote about it before the elections that ba-Chiluba will help us to dribble Sata together with the POST and caused Sata to lose. How nice to see how ba-Chiluba has helped my country Zambia to be without a dictator as Zambian President.
Huts off ba-Chiluba, please hang on for you might just help us dribble Sata again in 2011. Take care and be blessed. The good Lord, God, surely forgives and please confess anything that is not yet right between you and God, if you haven’t yet.

  127. General Miyanda has a right to his own opinion just like all of u so respect that.I personally believe we Zambians should stop blaming politicians for the problems in our country because we r to blame. How many of us claim to be Christian and yet we go and vote without consulting God. Miyanda has never lied about what his vision is and yet we still vote for the liers. He has integrity never seen in any other candidate and even if u don’t like him atleast have the disency to respect him and not make conclusions based on what u heard a gosip say about him. Also, living a rural area doesn’t make you dull so respect every zambian regardless of class or background

  128. people who should go to the villeges not talking about noses miyanda am not happy.you are a papety guy.you jast eat your money which you have been given to RB mukanyela cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee mi………………..nda NYOKO
