  1. #3 Pumpy grow up. How can u be no 1 and NO 2 at the s ame time. Ha maybe u never took physics but I expect u to use common sense. 1 body can never 2 spaces at the same time. this is against the laws of physics

  2. Leakages have only become common of late, when i completed sch in 1997, we just used to hear that there is leakage but it was very difficult to come by, and we just had to study hard to get where we are now.

  3. These are consequences of bad government which makes people resort to fraud to survive.

    How do you pay
Teachers about a K1 000 000.00 on one hand and pay

    Cabinet minister salary K 77 117 123.00,
    Special allowances K64 412 182.50,
    Responsibility allowance K70 000 000.00 and
    Utility allowance K66 400 000.00
    *
And expect the teacher not to sell examination papers to survive. (Goggle Zambian parliamentary emoluments amendment and see for yourselves) It criminal by government even if there were very small reduction in the approved bill in many cases less than a K1 000 000.00

  4. Yes you can see the consequences of bad government which makes people resort to fraud to survive.

A poor teacher will sell examination papers to survive. (Goggle Zambian parliamentary emoluments amendment and see for yourselves) It criminal by government even if there were very small reduction in the approved bill in many cases less than a K1 000 000.00

    • The government has to balance the equation, teachers and ministers are both not in direct production. In terms of salaries, the gap between what teachers get and what mps get should not be that big.Teachers produce good learned citizens.whereas ministers, mps are non productive.Permanent secretaries do most of their work. All they do is tell rhetorics to the citizens. They are full of promises they rarely fufill and switch parties .They only take care of their families, which all Zambians want to do.Cadres,” wanna be mps” should not be allowed to grab land from innocent citizens who have no voice to speak for themselves.Cadres feel are more closer to the government than ordinary citizens. which should not be the case.In the end we all gona be cadres so we can exercise ”The cadre…

  5. a sign of poverty, poor leadership in the ministry, problems with security esp in police dep and ukutumpa.what do you expect when even those teachers went to college using corruption like Lungwangwa.coz i knew that guy as ichikopo

  6. Iwe # 15 ati kantubasula – dont behave an equity partner of Fred Mmembe and the Post. Are those salaries annual or monthly- or are you trying to play the PF card.

Let me advise you on what we need to do improve perks for teachers or police. Firstly lets increase minimal entry point qualification for teachers to degree then follow world wide average of paying graduates not less US $ 900 -1,000 per month. That way we can set an incentive system that can compare with the private sector. The only way to increase wages is to encourage more private sector involvement so that they pay their teachers well say at Ichegelo, Banani etc

  7. In countries like Swizterland the average pay is 3,100 swiss francs for any job one is employed. This is equivalent to K 12 million per month. According to purchasing parity, this is equivalent to to K 6 million pa Zambia.

But to attain that level, lets address the educational system by addressing the entry point for teachers and policemen. How can one with a grade 10 or grade 12 certiciate which in most cases is compromised to deliver. RB needs to remove the top brass in the police and ensure the culture of frustrating graduates and fear of the unknown is done away with.

  8. number 17 i agree with you how can these so called mps lncrease their salaries whilest a teacher only gets a one millon. Iam in support, and i think they should just leave them. Those on top are the bigest thives and corrupt people.

  9. #13 Aha! Golyati waleseka abanobe ichingeleshi yesterday. Now that is funny! Blimey!

Nabesula ka internet cafe abene lelo? Credit crunch Golyati wafwafye! Ine nshakese. lol!

  10. #20 Pelican Brief. You are worng
IDo not speculate I gave you a site to Google and see for yourself. The post reported correctly that salaries have been increased. Do not compare zambia to Western nations but the teachers with diplomas could and should be paid a lot better. very few of my teachers at secondary school had a degree but they were excellent. Teachers and policemen, nurses and doctors deserve not less than a quarter of what the ministers get. Anything else is politics.

  11. No 23 – wih due respect, even an internet google site can be wrong – do not believe anything on a white muzungu site. wake up and smell the Obama sugar. Ministers salaries are annual meaning that K 77 million per year translates into K 6.4 million per month.

I agree with you that we need a wage policy that sets minumums salary perks as follows, degree orders, parastatals, doctors, engineers etc – see my next blog comment.

  12. Proposed Minimum Salaries for various Categories in Government:

    Ministers – K 20 million or US $ 5,500 per month
Deputy Ministers/PSs/ Chief Executives in Statutory Bodies – K 17 million or US $ 4,500 per month
Directors, Senior Doctors, Phd Senior Lecturers – K 15 million or US $ 3,500 per month
    Middle management supervisory staff K 10 – K 12 million.
    Policeman/ teacher with degree and minimum 4 years experience K 8 – K 10 million per month.

This is just an average and if you MMMD cadres are reading this blog, do ,your homework if you are to survive in 2011 elections. This is what PF was making noise about. Impact is that motivation will be up, corruption will atleast decline

  13. Guys lets not blame the teacher and the pupils.I know its a wrong thing to do but pa Zed isukulu lyalikosa. Its not that these guys are dull no but the way ba ECZ prepares the exams its wiered.

    • am with u.i went to svhool pa zed and I tell pipo even professors because they make me retake classes like biology because I took em in africa I tell them its harder in africa school is ten times here nd america aint diff teachers here get more money than zed teachers,bt there pay sucks too

  14. # 25 Pelican Brief
We agree on something but can I also bring it to your attention that the site I refered to is not a muzungu site but a parliamentary record of a bill tabled to paliament in August 2008. It is a pdf format that can not be tempered with. Chief, if you and me can not agree on what is in black and white on public domain, what chance has a man in Senaga, mpolokoso, chama or Monze village? The government by design do keep them in the dark and when an oposition leader bring issues to their attention they call him liar and the villager votes un informed. Do we agree?

  15. No 25 consider this, how do you pay ministers like vera Chiluba with a grade what qualification 20 million Kwacha and a PHD holder or senior lecturer, who has spent many years researching and reading for the good of humanity 15 Million Kwacha. To have a PHD,you don’t go to villages and give people beer and salt. NO, let all politicians have a minimum of Masters Degree or be Professors to take all that money. Many ministers only fart and womanise and boot lick instead of being productive. Promote technocrats who propel the growth of a nation by paying them well and funding their researchers instead of paying Ministers to be having sex at the parliament hotel on our expense

  16. As usual, its male teachers, kukonda vigololo na tubana twaskulu. These chaps must be locked up, they are lowering further, the ed std of Zed. Not all can afford oversease ed.
Problems na tweve tukonda bakulu. Its a vicious cycle.

  17. You man eaters. The salaries for ministers are annual and when you compute the monthly, you have an average of 7 million per month. Whats all this complaint about. Learn to analyse issues in their right perspective.

  18. Then why do people cry when they are dropped from a ministerial position if the money hey get is crap? Yeah right the salaray can be crap but allowances bwafya!

    Not ukubwatabwatafye batata.

  19. crying is natural in any situation. Even you if i squeeze your penis with bobojan you are bound to cry. That should not mean you are enjoying the feeling of the instrument. Stop being petty and go back to school

  20. # 27 and Conman at # 30 – thanks for clarifying , the bill on google refers to a draft that originally went to Parliament and the President refused to sign it. It would led to Ministers getting K 30 million plus. What was approved this week is 15 percent increase that leaves our leaders getting K 7 million as Conman at # 30 has pointed out.

Manje mane , if we want the salaries to be means tested, that is according to qualifications, then Phd entrants must get more, Masters higher than originally degree holders. It makes sense. Lets see the changes that RB would make at technical level this afternoon at his long awaited press conference.

  21. During my time 109 years ago when leakages were unheard of. If you suspect one to have a leakage you run away from that person. He will be a loner. But these days you befriend such a person. This world will end soon.

  22. #36
even the disciples anticipatd the end of the world in their lifetime. hahaa

ECZ is run like ECZ, the differences is that one is non partisan. hahaa

i think, the ecz should develop a system of continious assessment so that students will not have to place their entire education on a single examination. its fear of failing that drives students to cheat, goood students cheat too.

  23. Teachers should have a practing licence in future which can be withdrawn when they engage themselves in such thuggery act. They should be bandled in prison for longer periods to teach others that examination leakages is a serious offence.

  24. #28. Dr Shock, I like your comment especially regarding qualifications to be MP, and I will add Zambian President.

Where have we as Zambia been going wrong when countries that were below or at our level then in the 1970s are way too advanced like 50years ahead of us now?

The answer is that we have let undereducated people run the Government of our Republic if Zambia. Therefore, let us introduce minimum qualifications for people vying for MP and President in the new Constitution of our Country and Nation.

  25. ‘Police in Kitwe have arrested four pupils and six teachers from various schools for examination malpractices.’Kitwe! This is the place where the Undereducate won most of his votes in the just ended Presidential election when the best aspirant president HH promised them, CB people, and committed through a Social Contract signing that he was going to give the Teachers and other Civil Servants a minimum of ZK3,5 Million per month. With the money ecHi-ecHi offered them, they were not going to be selling leaked exam papers to raise money to buy tu-pamela.Come on Zambians,HH will do it because he has already signed for all his promises.Wake up CB for 2011 is near. Endorse the best & stop being shame

  26. Look at the culprits’ names:
Alexander Kaluba, 50 of Luangwa Township
Christopher Kamwendo,29 of 15 Lilongwe Nkana East
    Mike Chisangano, 26
    Hallan Sakala 29,
    Malama Mannford
    Martin Ngandwe
    Zed Kumwenda
    Ian Sungwe

These all appear to have something in common. Let us be real as ‘One zambia, One Nation’.

  27. No 39, it is not about teachers licences but giving them good conditions of service and making the education system less dependent on examinations. Educatioon and schooling in Zambia is measured in terms of passing examinations even in a place where pupils had no teachers, text books or learning materials in their school life. What do you expect from pupils other than cheating during examinations? Change the whole system of examining pupils based on national exams to taught content exams and you will see a difference. On how to do this, contact me for further details. I have been doing research on the same issue on how Finland does it in Europe and emerging the best.

  28. Ine sininachite va so, could it that I was a fontini? I am a grade twelve and could not continue with school due to financial constraints but these graduates of nowardays do not send shilvers in me cause I know what goes on in schools these days.

  29. #10 you are right: Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) and Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) both use same acronyms and are under the close supervision of the Master Rigger, VJ the Tonga bull. But do Tonga bulls also rig their wives? Tonga bloggers, please help.

  30. #46. Chintobentobe, while I really appreciated #10’s comments, I do not subscribe to your ‘both use same acronyms and are under the close supervision of the Master Rigger, VJ the Tonga bull’.

On ‘But do Tonga bulls also rig their wives? Tonga bloggers, please help.’

Tonga people are among the most sensible in the country and world over for they respect their wives and family values. That is why the Tongas are successful since they are strick with management of things aroud them unlike others that produce children and leave their mothers to fend for such un-cared for by irresponsible fathers children.

  31. imwe, if you add up the salary and all the allowances, the vice president will be earning not less than K30 million. look at the totality of these figures rather than the one that just says says salary. apart from that, these chaps are entitled to a lot of freebies.

  32. A total lack of wisdom. That 50 year old Head Teacher was almost retiring but he will end with nothing – the other teachers are so young and will probably kiss their careers and freedom goodbye. It Don’t spare those teachers, jail them and jail them hard!

Over 120 students/pupils have been caught with leaked papers. The question is, if so many have been caught how many more could have had access to these papers and managed to get away with it? This year must be the worst in terms of exam leakages. Very sad indeed.

  33. There is nothing that beats interest, discipline & hardwork when it comes to succeding in school. It doesn’t pay to obtain stuff dubiously. Many girls have gotten infected with HIV becoz of selling their bodies in exchange for leaked papers. Even those chaps who have used the leaked papers and think they have gotten away with it, should know that “their sin will find them out”. Many will fail in their first year at University, some will sleep with lecturers in exchange for high grades but will end up with HIV/AIDS, kids or eventually fail to keep their jobs coz the incompetence will be clear for everyone to see, unless, of course, they sleep with their bosses. The cycle of wrongs goes on.

  34. #50. your flag Abantu Baya, the data you have release is quite true.

Unfortunately, voters do not like to vote for someone who tells them the truth. President Hakainde Hichilema promised to change the working culture of Zambians which can be termed as lazy mode and one one took him seriously.

The “There is nothing that beats interest, discipline & hardwork when it comes to succeding in school.” is what is needed in our people of all ages and size. Also, workers need this to be useful Citizens.

  35. This is so shameful. But when u look at it seriously, I think to a certain extent, the poor salaries that these teachers get have an effect on this. I know there is an aspect of them needed to be honest but if one gets less than a milion and then an opportunity avails itself where He/she can make almost that in a short period, its a risk worth taking.

Increase their pays, this will reduce tremendously. Good day to u all

    • hell yea I remember in nineth grade mr fundanga the governor ‘s grandson or something he signs our k50 or something paid alot of money for leakage and some other idians and some other grade 12 many and a few otger nineth graders.myself and other classmates were very upset as were young and thought it was unfair any ways tone of the teachers gat fired and lost his career he salea chickens bt from what I hear he has startetes doing aomething else and making money now students wherr k500 a paper and these teachers were not making much you would take it too bt since it hasnt been offered yall say hell now..i saw the smartest students in schiol crying and fainting during finals zambian exam is no joke 7 &9th grade are simple bt I know even tho I have not taken it 12th grade kicks ass
