Govt happy with pace of plunder cases in courts

Share

Attorney General Mumba Malila says the Zambian government is satisfied with the pace at which courts are handling cases of plundered resources.

Mr. Malila says government is satisfied with the way the courts handled cases of corruption last year.

He said government will not interfere with the manner the courts are doing their work.

Some sections of society including the Human rights Commission are concerned with delays to dispose off cases of plunder of public resources.

  1. 😮 I say a BIG No. When you say Governement, who do you represent? Kachiluba’s case has taken generations. Which generation is meant to learn from his faults? You so called Govnt representatives had better be serious about it! 🙁

  2. 😮 I say a BIG No. When you say Government, who do you represent? Kachiluba’s case has taken generations. Which generation is meant to learn from his faults? You so called Govnt representatives had better be serious about it! 🙁

  3. In Zambia, we have the Prosecutor General and the Attorney General. What is the difference between the two? The prosecutor general prosecutes on behalf …(of the govt???) while the attorney general sees to it that rules are adhered to in a legal process. Is it? :-??:-??:-??

  4. That’s rediculous to say govt is happy. The whole process is selective with only a few guys being convicted and others like Kafupi are still free, and instead govt is even spending more on FTJs luxuries like building him a house, trips tp RSA. I know he is intitled but if te process was quicker, Zambia would have saved in such areas coz Kafupi and Regina would have been in Chimbokaila by now.

Come Malila, we are watching you in 2009. The Judiciary are too slow man.

  5. I suppose this means the Task Force is just about doing the right thing, I know their Mandate was meant to End in November last year, Has it been extended.? How about enorporating the Task Force’s mandate with the current regime’s corrupt cases and legalising the Task Force?.I am sure corrupt practices are rife as we speak from local Govt offices, Foreign Hogh commissions etc!

It appears in all honest that if the cases of Chiluba and Co are concluded, then the Task Force would have completed its life and could be abandoned!

Also how about having a timeline , at which these cases will be disposed of General Mumba Malila.

  6. SWEET ZED!TAULETINA AMA ROCKETS FROM GAZA??????
    AWEE NAIKOSAKO UKO BOY…
    U R IN MY PRAYERS 2NITE….
    WISH U WET DRIMZ! :x:x:x:x

  7. Its all nonsense. how can you say govt is happy with cases that have taken close to ten years to be disposed off? it just goes to show that our legal system is useles and needs a complete overhaul. so Malila don’t cheat us because we are not your children just shut up and enjoy yo free salary!

  8. OH! God

Mr Mumba Sir what are you saying? How many have you convicted so far? Ba Chiluba is still free,Xevier Chungu will be coming out in may,Faustin Kabwe,Aron Chungu, and Stella Chibanda are still enjoying life,Bulaya has appealed against the court ruling,Katele is a free man.what are you talking about big man? just think of the money you have spent on this issue of plunders, the amount is much bigger than what you have recovered, you had to hire a judge from the UK,but that did not help.please Mr Mumba just keep quiet, you are not talking to shibukeni pupils, please big man we all know that you have failed us on this issue, and we’ve accepted that you faluires.that’s all.Not ukutubepa [-x[-x[-x[-x[-x[-x

  9. Fellow zambians, does anyone here have an idea of how much Max Nkole gets per month or just his annual pay in total? ask me if you want to know because i’m a guy with all the inside info

  10. Help, I don’t understand how the Zambian government is run. Councils belong to opposition party. Who pays them salaries? And what are their role in undertaking government orders and rules?

Enlighten us please? Is he paid as much as some government ministers. I think though he is doing an amicable job. Wouldnt you agree?

  15. Given the state of our courts, that there so overwhelmed with cases I would agree with attonery general , there is indeed alot of progress. The thing with most of you guys is ,you are so ignorant of what goes on zambia . you want to have an utopia kind of thinking. zambia is a developing country ,learn to appreciate scores by your govt.Atleast govt is paying for my stay in the uk I should be thankful though am part of govt .

  16. This has become a joke, just yesterday Benny Tetamashimba the minister told Zambians not to condemn Chiluba until he has his day in court. What about the London High court judgement which Teta’s govt. won against Chiluba, doesn’t that count Ba Teta?

  17. Guys,

  22. I have ignored you as you have realised because I think you are atleast half the man i was arguing with.

You are very dull, and i will ignore you indefinitely. Buy yourself a dictionary and also stop being one of my worshipers, because your sentences are extremely incoherent like 3RQU who is come under another name no 28.

  23. :d Number 11 (Dr); that’s cool…almost lost my stance. Thought you were truly coming for me. thanks for the wet dreams wishes. Kafupi’s case has really taken too long!:d/ He needs your rockets!

The government machinery is only good at sorting out those who go against the ruling government! Anything else renders it an endless chain of hearings. Kaya!

  28. Happy birthday infected meat. I stand you are stll young I was 23 in third year at unza 1996 enjoy your youth.how do you call youself rotten meat? just a question

  29. INFECTED MEAT…bithday boy blogging the whole day…why? there is no party???? at your age, we used to have bithday parties. I hope it has nothing to do with the crunch….happy birthday though! 😕

  30. Incorporate the task force into the ACC as a strategic unit and extend the mandate to suspected corruption of all past administrations and the current one.

MMD would also do good by returning the 150 mazdas Chungu bought from Pilatus through the Zamtrop account and helped in LPM’s election in 2001. Anything less is just smoke and mirrors!!

  31. Chiluba indeed can not be described as having been the best president, but guys he is a gift speaker and a unigue guy from being a callboy to plot one that is no mean feat at personal level

  32. I have respect for the demised man levy however he befinited from chungu `s plunder doing the 2001 elections when mazoka clearly won.

  33. In Zambia judicial process is all fake, i wonder if we have capable lawyers to handle cases very fast like other countries have. This Mumba is talking like he doesnt know how long kafupi and other people’s cases have been in court.Besides that they are selective.
    %-(8->

  34. I have respect for the AG as I know him very well. The trust I have in the task force is also in my belief in Max Nkole as a professional. The AG is right for the plunder cases not to be politicised. However, the chief Justice must stand firm with fake adjournments by the accussed like our FTJ feigning illness. No more South African trips until all the cases are disposed off or die at UTH. Let us support the rule of law as we shall rely heavily on it when we take over in 2011. No messing around, it will be collective national action. The nation needs leaders and not bullies like Sata.

  35. #51, its true anyone can be a Doctor but its takes real doctors to use their doctorate. Ka ma Chiluba is a fake Doctor and believe you me, the man will NEVER use his doctorate which he bought from Malawi at US$500,000 and his fake Masters from Warwick at £250,000.00. Some of us got our real doctorates for less than £7,500 pounds as we were being paid by the Universities we went to for doing good work in their departments. In fact we can even help Zambia adopt an educational efficient model that makes education anywhere in the world cheaper for our children. They only need to consult.

  36. #26, you have a point. The issue of passports needs to be raised with the authorities. They do not know how annoying it is for people to be changing passports with visas like shirts. Every time you get a new passport in the UK, you need a £500.00 fee to transfer your visa. What an inconvenience and if you have a family with Children over 18 years multiply £500 by the number you have. Its total nonsense. Let them give us dual citizenship and we can leverage things ourselves. I will write to the AG in my private capacity and let us see if reason wont prevail.

  37. 34, INFECTED MEAT,
Happy birthday and wishing you 2300000000000000 more years (eternal life by faith in Jesus Christ). Take time to thank God for adding another year to your life. Take time to reflect on your past and future. Are there changes that you need to make that will show that indeed you have grown? My point is, reflection and meditation on your birthday is a very important component of the celebrations.

The Zambian Govt is happy with the pace of plunder cases in courts. The Zambian People are not happy(judging from LT). One wonders if we have a govnt of the people by the people for the people.

  38. Our govt is full of f****ing sh***t. They are not fit to be called a govt coz they only think about themselves they dont think of what will happen in tomorrow hence they live for the moment and misuse tax payers money in the name of fighting corruption. Our govt s****ks and make most pipo sick.

  39. Is is because of the nonsensical and whimsical way that these plunder cases are handled that i even wish that they didnt start at all.It seems that the task force has financially rewarded the guys involved in the recovery of the plundered resources than the country itself.Ala ishi impiya tashakamoneke balilya :((:((:((:((:((

Mr Richardson’s decision was linked to a pending investigation into a company which has done business with his state.
In a joint statement, Mr Obama said he had accepted Mr Richardson’s decision to withdraw “with deep regret. BBC News.
This is an example of intergrity , morals and ethics.

  42. Tetamashimba has said we should not condemn the “annointed one.”Am sure Levy is turning in his grave. An ordinary man’s case takes hours to dispose of, what a shame

  43. Imwe ba # 59,
Dont u know that at midnight adult sites are on? I agree its family time but what are children doing now surfing the web? It’s midnight in most states in the US and you need parental locks on most sites. The reason adult clips on the ‘passport page’ is its not a paid site hence pop ups on on.

  44. Iwe ka Infected meat, you are very young.Hence your childish behaviour on the blogg.Me,am 29 . Nomba umfwa mwaiche,i have a bucket of water in my hands, and it is full to the brim. And then i draw closer to you Infected Nyama. And pour the water on you, You look at me and almost wanting to give me a fist. Here we may differ in opinions but we love and support each other,as Zambians. But wikesha ukulanda ifi pali Sata boyi. Love you!

  46. Hey matworld,

How r u doing? Man i ve lost all the respect i had for our AG,am so dispointed to the bone with his statement. It’s like the govt’s agenda is not to convict these guyz but enrich a few individuals like MUTEMBO and themselves thru a sophiscated form of plunder will only know when most of them ve pasted on.SHAME.

  48. Hi Bloggers.

AG is acting strange these days. I mean, what is there to be happy about? This kama short Skooner guy is still walking and parading in suits bought using our money. Can you be happy with such. Niya bwanji iyo? 😕

  49. Most organisations set bench marks against which performance is measured and this is reviewed every so often. This is necessitated by the fact that you want to know whether you are on course or not.

In the absence of this, you sit back, relax and wait for month end.

  50. congrats ACC,you should also visit ZAF accts personnel for arrest not investigations.these chaps are really stealing BIG time every day eg BJ CHILESHE,LUNGU B,LUNGU E AND MULENGA FM.these are the direct desendants of FTJ.

  51. Goodmorning guys. What pace are they talking about when the mastermind is still enjoying himself at the expense of Zambians. Be serious

  52. Big NO! for sure. no results so far and the money be recovered still being plundered by incumbants. its better to just even stop the case.

  53. # 71 why is it that all of those chaps you have mentioned are from northern and eastern provinces?what do we call this, probably mbuyas stealing, now thats something, lol

  54. #35 Infected Meat: Happy Birth day mate.:o) … at least you are officially older than the 1st Lady of some country we know and love.=d> Many more happy returns mate!<:-p It's not Agentina ...I'm somewhere near the ladins.^:)^ ... though I'm rarely in one place!

  55. Corruption is a vice that is deep rooted in Zambia such that many people have been made to believe that we cannot do without it. It increases efficiency in govt departments, including some NGOs. Zambians deliberately do what they are paid to do inefficiently so that they can be bribed into efficieny. This is common among the highly paid civil servants and therefore low salaries is not an excuse. You can get a Zambian passport the same day (or within a week) if you corrupt someone or you can wait for eternity if you do it lawfully. So corruption helps (small minds conclude). The fight against corruption should be inclusive and should involve every Zambian, not govnt alone.

  56. Happy Birthday INFECTED Meat. Hope you will not engage in fights , you are still a young boy. =d>

Biggie good points there on corruption practices. I agree with Infected Meat, who wont the Task force deal with the current government cases. This is because corruption is going on NOW.

  57. Biggie Jim. Therein lies the problem, once we accept that its thread in our fabric, we are gone!
I love your line of cogitation …. i recommend you for Commissioner General – ACC

  58. bloggers, sorry to take you off topic. im worried with this war between israel and the gaza people but everyone i tolk to says its biblical. please can someone explain to me how biblical it is because people are losing their lives.

  59. Rashid Jones, how are you?that war my friend has been there before some of us were born. There enemity has been there for thousands years. Dont wonder why even the UN has failed to stop that war? America and all the powerfull countries have failled to stop the war.

  60. Wonders shall never cease in Zambia Politics.
Now the AG has enetered the ring of self embarassment, surely were do these people take the courage???
9Yrs of investigating and today you parade yourself making such nonsense noise!!! What does this AG mean??
Ladies and Gentlemen prepare yourselves for the famous nolle prosque issues!!! thats how they release the info to the public.

  61. Humans are born Sinners,

the world does not care what you believe

ask a Jew, they are taking the land that God gave them

ask a muslim, they are fighting Jihad

ask a Christian, we are in Babylon fighting for her resources

as you can clearly see, non believers have nothing to do with anything and the world is at war over religion

  62. This could easily be World war 3. remember the danger is not USA, nor Russia, But CHINA!

what about China? if you have ever read the book of Revelation, it has some references of the bear and the lamb, coming to blows with the dragon.
China has been flexing its new found political and economic power quite largely lately. The have taken over Macao, Hong Kong, still possess Bhutan and Tibet. Rattle their saber at Taiwan and go against almost every western ideal.
The have also increased their standing army by 300% in the past ten years. They technically have over 200,000,000 armed men, who are part of a militia and the standing army. They have stopped us from confronting North Korea etc. I

  63. I actually think the first nuke strike will be from NK, with the knowledge of China, for plausible deniabilty.
Anyway, no one knows for sure. But usually, things happen when they are least expected and from those whom we least expect to act.
In Zambia and Africa we are very FORTUNATE

I have the gut feeling that it won’t be fullblown war but sporadic armed conflict that will be both pervasive and long. I also think the conflicts will revolve around old grudges, revenge and paybacks from and by past regimes through their komrades and blood brothers and allies in faith. You know, the Muslim-Christian thing. The US will always be in the forefront being the most powerful.

  64. #71 man,wat rank r u in the airforce? If u cant beat them,y not join them.If FM Mulenga gets gets herself a ka HARRIER it dnt mean shes a thief.

  65. I think that consitutionalising the Task Force will help in ensuring that their is not only efficience but hamonised and integreted effort with the other Law enforcement bodies such as the ACC, DEC, etc.
What we have seen in the past of cases of contlict sometimes even antagonism in the work of Task Force and the ACC has not been healthy to the cause of progress.
However, we commend the efforts made so far, but probably it is difficult to be satisfied yet. This is because much is expected of the Task Force and the ACC.
In fact I would have expected more proactivity in handling corruption issues than mere follow up of cases at hand when more loop holes are being created for corruption.

  66. rashid

I personally dont believe that war is bibilical. That cant be true. To say that is to defeat the whole purpose of hope and prayer. Wars have always been there and fought over one thing..Land. Try grabbing vic falls town frm Zim and see just how fast Mugabe will come after you. Nothing evil is bibilical. Man (who happens to be evil) is both bibilical and selfish, hence the wars. Comments bloggers

  67. “government is satisfied with the pace at which courts are handling cases of plundered resources”.I dont think this is true and how i wish it was, then we could hav no one starving in our country.**==

  68. #80, Rashid Jones,It all started as a family affair. Abraham had a son with a maid (Haggar) by the name of Ishmael. Ishmael is the father of the present day Arabs. Then Abraham had a son with his wife Sarah by the name of Isaac, the father of the jews. Ishmael started mocking and fighting against Isaac and this resulted in the sending away of Haggar and Isaac. The bible declared that Ishmael will be a warlord (as we say these days) and the evidence is there to this day. The Jews crucified Jesus and declared that let his blood be upon us and our children and our children’s children, Thus they rejected Jesus as the messiah and pronounced a curse on themselves, today’s bloodshed is evidence.

  69. 90, Ba Moze,

War could be biblical interms of bible predictions of end time events. Jesus said that one of the signs of his second coming is wars and rumours of wars. Nations rising against nations.

  70. “He said government will not interfere with the manner the courts are doing their work.”

I hope this is true and will be upheld. To this end, please Mr Chief Justice, make sure these cases are concluded for the pace they are taking is not encouraging me to have confidence in what is being carried out.

“Experience teaches one to be cautious…if we listen carefully and prayerfully to somebody when they make a claim, there will be evidence in their own comments, out of their own mouth, that will show the certainty of the matter, or otherwise.” – Jonathan Gray.

Consider =; for 2011 new GRZ.

  71. #92

Enlighten me a bit. If the jews crucified Jesus, why are they having the upper hand in this war? They are killing innocent children too. Am lost now. Help.

  72. #91. Jelita
It is either a jock or an extreme expectation that if all the cases under prosecution were successfully disposed off then evryone will stop starving or that poverty would disappear.
Being realist is more helpful that to hold such a view.

  73. #67 Please note that the Passport issue is not a family issue. This is a national issue. The GRZ needs to know how angry we are.

  74. Those events in the middle east, could actually mean the end of the World, which has been predicted to end in 2012.

    I suggest you repent !

The Major 7 reasons to this fellow bloggers are as follows (hy the end is coming to an end in 2012!):

  75. 7. Slip-Slop-Slap- BANG!

We all know the Earth is surrounded by a magnetic field that sheilds us from most of the sun’s radiation. What you might not know is that the magnetic poles we call north and south have a nasty habit of swapping places every 750,000 years or so – and right now we’re about 30,000 years overdue. Scientists have noted that the poles are drifting apart roughly 20-30kms each year, much faster than ever before, which points to a pole-shift being right around the corner. While the pole shift is underway, the magnetic field is disrupted and will eventually disappear, sometimes for up to 100 years. The result is enough UV outdoors to crisp your skin in seconds, killing e

  76. 6. The Physicists

This one’s case of bog-simple maths mathematics. Physicists at Berekely Uni have been crunching the numbers. and they’ve determined that the Earth is well overdue for a major catastrophic event. Even worse, they’re claiming their calculations prove, that we’re all going to die, very soon – while also saying their prediction comes with a certainty of 99 percent- and 2012 just happens to be the best guess as to when it occurs.

  77. 5. Super Volcano

Yellowstone National Park in the United States is famous for its thermal springs and Old Faithful geyser. The reason for this is simple – it’s sitting on top of the world’s biggest volcano, and geological experts are beginning to get nervous sweats. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years or so, and we’re many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the Earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang.

  78. 4. The Bible says…

If having scientists warning us about the end of the world isn’t bad enough, religious folks are getting in on the act aswell. Interpretations of the Christian Bible reveal that the date for Armageddon, the final battle between Good an Evil, has been set down for 2012. The I Ching, also known as the Chinese book of Changes, says the same thing, as do various sections of the Hindu teachings.

  79. 3. The Atom Smasher

Scientists in Europe have been building the world’s largest particle accelerator. Basically its a 27km tunnel designed to smash atoms together to find out what makes the Universe tick. However, the mega-gadget has caused serious concern, with some scientists suggesting that it’s properly even a bad idea to turn it on in the first place. They’re predicting all manner of deadly results, including mini black holes. So when this machine is fired up for its first serious experiment in 2012, the world could be crushed into a super-dense blob the size of a basketball.

  80. 2. Sun Storms

Solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery: our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic, and it’s supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the Earth with so much radiation energy, it’s been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse, and calculations suggest it’ll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012

  81. . Mayan Calendar

The first mob to predict 2012 as the end of the world were the Mayans, a bloodthirsty race that were good at two things:

Building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone and Sacrificing Virgins.

Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out. The Mayan calendar predicts that the Earth will end on December 21, 2012. Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it’s likely they’ve got the end of the world right as well.

  82. Scientific experts from around the world are genuinely predicting that Three years from now, all life on Earth could well finish. Some are saying it’ll be humans that set it off. Others believe that a natural phenomenon will be the cause. And the religious folks are saying it’ll be God himself who presses the stop button…

These plunderer cases in courts which are not ending are signs on why we are doomed. No leader not Rupiah Banda , will be received with open arms, our seeking of perfection is another reason why , we ought to seek something deifferent and God is the answer.

  83. #95, Ba Moze,

Chewe (#82) put it nicely as follows: that war my friend has been there before some of us were born. There enemity has been there for thousands years.

My point is that peace is very unlikely in the middle east untill Jesus comes. The Jews could be having an upper hand because of the superior weapons from America and American support (Israel are the biggest purchasers of American weapons of war)

  84. #60 My brother, this can never happen here. The last one to do this was our late President. Greed is the game in our country.

  85. #95 Ba Moze The crucification of Jesus Christ was part of God’s plan to bring about a new beginning and stop animal sacrifice. It has nothing to with who killed him. As for Gaza the Hamas are very much to blame. If they are concious about civilian lives they could have gone where there are no civilians, but they are launching rockets from heavily popuplated areas so that if Israel fires back civilians will be killed and thus get sympathy from the world.

  86. Blackbelt Dan 4

Believe me, you will not be the last to predict the end of the world. Try helping us predict the end of Mwadya Mweka Daddy (MMD)? Please?

  87. Guys thank you for helping me understand this biblical concerpt about the war in the middle east but i think its terrible. in my opinion, i blame the USA because they are very much on the side of the mojority(Israel).

  88. #113 Ba Moze. Not atall. Its like saying we black people are cursed. NO!!! Its a question of doing the right thing. All the Arabs need to do is renounce violence. You have seen how they suicide bomb each other in the name of Allah. They have no respect for life. If we black people were cursed Obama would not have become president. Just to go a bit further; Zambia at independece had a better organized mining industry than Chile but to day we’re 1million years behind Chile. Like Brutus said the fate is not in our stars but within ourselves

  89. The story at hand is about the government & plunder cases but I’m reading diverse comments on religion. Where is the moderator?

  90. Deja Vu

Well spoken there. I get your point. Truly, these arabs do not respect life. The way they take it with impunity, one would think they actually gave it!

  92. Ladies and gentlemen, its simply a massada complex. Politicians do the talk and don’t walk the walk. They play to the gallery. Nice try but ain’t impressed.

  94. I’ve seen you ba Moze, happy new year bro. But who is actually taking life in this case of Gaza? Over 500 palestinians dead and about 6 israelis…

  95. This is rediculous! The AG says the Gov’t is happy? LPM often said he was not happy with the pace and the Chief Justice has repeatedly said the process should be speeded up.The whole country is concerned at the snail pace.Who is this AG representing? 😮

  96. Nine Chale, there no new stories, we are at liberty to bring up any topic “within a topic”, that’s what blogging is all about. We may not necessarily stick to the topic at hand, its important to digress once in a while.

  99. Imwe ba pompwe you are busy stealing company time and money posting comments to this blog and you think you are not plunderers in your own right? That is why in Tumbuka we say “Changa baseka uwachelwa”, meaning the only bushbaby that is captured is the one which is found in the village tree in the morning. That is whay Mwanawasa did to Chiluba and a few others. Watch this space, fingi tukamona… :)>-

  103. A slow person would be happy with the pace at which he does things. But it may not necesarily be good enough. The whole nation thinks the pace at which corruption cases are being dealt with is slow. Only the lawyers are reaping rewards, not the nation.

Please tell us how much it has cost the nation and how much the nation has benefitted from this whole ncekelako by lawyers. Dont be slow (and sleepy).

  104. RB and his gvt are a big disappointment. They are worse off than chiluba’s gvt.The country in big danger.is gvt is also ageing.Sad

  105. The first Performance appraisal on this Govt by the Zambian people will be held on 1st Feb 09 based on the 3 months probation period. The second performance appraisal will be held 1st May 09 based on the 6 months probation period afterwhich the Zambian people will decide based on the outcome whether to ask them to resign honourably or if the performance is positive then a yearly performance appraisal will be conducted on 1st November of each year until the elections in 2011.This will apply to every Govt that will ever rule Zambia.LT please come up with topics relevant to these assessments on the due date to give an opportunity to Zambians to fairly & objectively assess the Govt.

  106. So the government is happy this is a new year joke!
What achievements in these corruption cases can you report back to the Zambian people so we can share this happiness?
Its costing us a fortune going in circles.
    YOU’RE FIRED !!!!!
