Chilubi MP worried over continued heavy rains

Share

Chilubi Member of Parliament, Obby Chisala, is worried that Chilubi district will be cut off from Luwingu district due to the heavy rains being experienced in the area.

Mr. Chisala said the Chilubi/Luwingu Road that connects the two districts is almost impassable following heavy rains that washed away the bridges on the road.

Mr. Chisala disclosed the development to ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that 4 x4 vehicles were managing to passing through the road.

He appealed to the Road Development Agency, RDA, to scrutinise contractors and engage only serious ones to avoid shoddy works on roads.

He said Samble Contractor engaged by government to rehabilitate the Chilubi/Luwingu road only managed to work on a 20 kilometre stretch of the road.

He explained that government awarded Samble a K20.5 billion contract in September last year to repair the road but that works have delayed on the project.

Mr. Chisala said the contract between Samble and government is scheduled to be completed this May but actual works have delayed despite government having disbursed 100 per cent funding towards the project.

He further lamented that Chaba, Matipa and Mofu rural health centres have all been cut off from Luwingu Boma due to the deplorable stat of feeder roads in the area.

Hi. Ninebo. From Mazabuka. balindileko ku Chilubi. We are busy with Siliya. Now she has defrauded a council!! 😕

Shani mudala. Ninkwata aka bulu lelo mkaamba! You some people dont want ilyashi lyakwa Dora? But, aleyiba sana gelo.

  3. Lets pray to God for forgiveness so that he can give us normal rains [-o<[-o<[-o<[-o<[-o< He will listen to our cries he's a loving God

  4. This MP instead of seeing an opportunity of harnessing the water and putting it to good use, he is busy complaining. ha Atase..These chaps paint a nasty picture of us as a people not thinking straight.

  5. The road from Luwingu to Chilubi has not been worked on for the last 15 years. Only God in his mercy has been working on that road to keep it passable. In fact mother nature has already reclaimed it. Mushrooms are growing in the midddle of the road on islands formed in the middle of potholes.

The Chilubi road is a scandle for the Northern Province administration, for the Chiluba administration and for the Mwanawasa administration. I am sure all the people in Chilubi district are waiting for Rupiah to disgrace himself like the others before him. In fact thatthe road is the reason why Chilubi votes for PF and the Undereducate.

  6. Chilubi MP, there are more important things to discuss other than why heavy rains have continued. Petition that with the Rainmaker. so what did you expect anyone to say? that they are sorry?

  7. The MP’s complaint is genuine. Luwingu/Chilubi is a productive area and every year a lot of grain, beans, groundnuts and fish go to waste due to poor connections to the neibouring towns.

You may understand why we so many Maconas (diasporans) from places where transport is a problem. We would like to go home but to reach my beloved village I need to budget for another week on the road by bus. Jokes aside!

Until campaign time the roads remain ungraded.

  8. All these heavy rains are part of the global warming circus..

No one is to blame here except nature and global lifestyle world wide.

  9. This is the problem with our leaders – rains are a problem, no rains is a problem, bumber harvest is problem, no maize is a problem. A true leader knows how to turn a problem into an opportunity you undereducates. Think about what you could do to divert that water so that you can irrigate more crops after the rains stop. Think and start generating ideas for job creation and water resource mangement. Put up your project proposals, talk to banks and your colleagues on those trips to Sudan instead of thinking of buying suits mwemashilu mwe. Tell your RB what you can do in Chilubi, grow rice and other water enjoying crops memashilu mwe. Nga ni ka Mulongoti kena taka kwete na mano iyo.
