CHADIZA PREACHER CHARGED WITH INDECENT ASSAULT

Share

Four girls on Friday lask week testified before a Chadiza Magistrate Court how a 52 year old man who used to teach them baptism classes allegedly took turns in sexually molesting them.

This is in a case in which Lyson Mvula, a brick layer of Kamwala Compound in Chadiza is charged with four counts of indecent assault on females contrary to section 137 of the penal code chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Testifying before Magistrate Billy Milanzi last Friday, the girls said in December last year, Mvula was their baptism teacher and that after releasing the other children, he would tell the four of them to stay after class.

The girls, three of them aged 9 years and one aged 10 years all said that Mvula always locked the door of his house which he turned into a baptism classroom.

The girls alleged that while inside the house, Mvula used to force the young girls to fondle his manhood, after which he would take turns in having sex with them.

Mvula would then give the children some fritters and fruits and threaten them that if they ever revealed what he was doing to them, they would die mysteriously.

But when put on his defense, Mvula denied ever having taught any baptism class saying as the overseer of St. Peter grouping in the Catholic Church, he only taught baptism classes in 2007 when he failed to find volunteers to do so.

Evelyn Banda, mother of one of the children told the court that her daughter revealed what Mvula had been doing to them in February this year.

She said upon probing further, it was discovered that other girls had also been sexually abused and that the matter was reported to the police after attempts by Mvula to settle the matter without police involvement failed.

The prosecution led by Charles Sututu charged Mvula with indecent assault on the four children.

  1. I hope he gets the punishment he deserves if he is guilty. Equally, I hope he can resume his life without unjustifiable recriminations if he is innocent. That aside, this is a subject on which all of us as human beings should do our utmost to ensure that abuse of any kind and against any person irrespective of age, gender, race or other affiliation is eradicated as far as is humanly possible. The habitual abuse of women in marriages in particular needs to be dealt with as a matter of urgency. It is high time that women were afforded the protection they need and an infrastructure that allows them to report abuse in the full knowledge that their voices will be fully heard and supported.

  2. Unfortunately I have never been to Eastern Province. But if there are any bloggers from Chadiza, please tell this lunatic that, in all other cities in Zambia, amahule bali mbwee. In Lusaka mature women line up along Addis, around Ndeke Hotel, around Pamodzi and can be found almost everywhere looking for men. They have now even moved between Classic creations and Chilanga. In Kitwe just go around Kaunda square you won’t even manage to satisfy them. Nomba how do you go to children who are not only the future of the nation, but are seeking the grace of God. Minimum sentence 20 for each child x 4plus= 100 years. Go rot in chadiza state prison. Are there no prostitutes in Chadiza, I wonder?

    • Hope you will also support stringent penalties for any ***** who uses the prostitutes you describe. The agencies of the law are always (and rightly) fast to act on possession of pornographic material – it is high time they started bringing the same impetus to stamping out curb crawlers and other malcontents who fund the depraved community of desperate women.

  4. And it would be helpful, LT, if you did not promote promiscuity by hosting immoral adverts on your site. Please set the standards for others to follow. In particular, I refer to your ‘sugar daddies’ advert that seems to have taken pride of place in recent weeks.

  5. Serious matters!! The punishment for such offences should be severe ones. The devil will do anything to disguise himself. He will even call for bible studies. There are a lot of things being done in the name of the Almight and at the end of the day this is what comes up. This is the reason why religion and politics should not interact. Man to man is very unjust!!

  6. You see…. and people find fault with the government’s introduction of human rights classes in schools. There are probably many other instances of this in our country as well – an educated population is one less liable to manipulation.

  7. where was doing this in his house how can they allow him to have children do baptism lessons at his house. Why didnt they do the lessons at church? If they wanted him to do them at home atleast if he had his wife there present. And his children if he is married. If he has never married then there is a problem somewhere meaning these are not the only children he has abused in his life time and that would be why he has never married. If that is the case. The law must take its course.

  8. Akulu A Lyson Mvula,
pala manyazi mulije kuvulila tubana tudoko nthena? (52 Years pali 9-10 years)?. Chamanyazi chomene ichi. Chiuta Amigookele yayi vimisango viheni mbwe..Ine nkupulika makola yayi.

  9. #1 Chale, don’t think your child you expose on internet will sue you when he is 10 years old? And if its somebody’s baby , which I assume so, you are exposing his father will crash your balls. Please parents keep your children safe, they are valuable gifts of God, they are not for exhibition like cartoons. That child need to go into custudy, that is what we call child abuse Mr. Chale

    • It may be Nine Chale himself when he was young. how do you know? Stop speculations before you know the truth baba.

  10. Lyson is a sick, sick man! He has destroyed the dreams and hopes of four (maybe more) children and he needs to be punished severely for his crimes. I am not sure what Zambian law says about this, but it better be a heavy sentence to deter other would-be Lysons out there. God have mercy on these poor innocents.

  11. Sad tale in deed from ku mawa. The man was really taking Baptism too far. cage him three life jail terms. he has stolen the inocence of the young girls. Parents also take charge of what is happening around your daughters, whom they are left with, who is coming in contact with, who they play with, girl child is an endangered species. look over your shoulders and provide the necessary protection. The world has gone crazy.

  12. Why did the catholic church allow this man to be doing baptism lessons in his house without any other elders? This is a lesson to other congregations that do similar things were you find quoir practices are happening at houses ; The devil is everywhere please be on guard – That livingstone father who defiled his own 3 months old daughter – U cant trust anyone these days

  13. Prisons r too full!chopg off their organs n showing their photos in media cn help mwebantu coz chudren will owez laf at them wen they pass n they wil be toothless to harm any child anymo!
