The Forum for Leadership Search Zambian (FLSZ) Chapter has called for the resignation and removal of Mutembo Nchito from the position of Public Prosecutor.
FLSZ Executive Director Edwin Lifwekelo said Mr. Nchito should resign on moral grounds adding that he cannot be prosecuting legal matters on behalf of the Zambian people when he was facing serious criminal allegations.
Mr. Lifwekelo said in a press release made available to ZANIS in Lusaka today, that Mr. Nchito cannot be expected to bring people to justice when he himself has been arraigned before processes that should bring him to justice.
He said in an event that Mr. Nchito chooses not to resign, the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Mr. Chalwe Muchenga should immediately remove him from the position of Public Prosecutor.
The FLSZ Executive Director also said the Post newspapers should stop the mockery of these serious legal proceedings with its comments, Editorials and coverage.
He added that with the warn and caution theft by agent statements issued by Law Enforcement Agencies, the Post should cease to carry prejudicial and contemptuous comments relating to Zambian airways.
Mr. Lifwekelo further said now that the Managing Director of the Post Fred Mmembe was a suspect in the Zambian airways saga he should not be allowed to use the paper to attempt to exonerate himself and Mr. Nchito.
He added that the Law Enforcement Agencies must intensify processes that should help recover the US$ lost in the saga.
“We have also leant with interest the statement by the British High Commissioner to Zambia, Thomas Carter that Britain has spent over US$1billion, 500,000 million pounds in the last 5 years on the fight against corruption,” Mr. Lifwekelo said.
He said both the Zambian government and Mr. Carter should help the nation by disclosing how such a colossal amount of money was used for.
Mr. Lifwekelo also demanded for the forensic audit against corruption to cover both monies received from donors and the Zambian government.
He added that the audit should extend to the offshore account held in Britain called the Anti-Corruption Fund (ACP) adding that corruption has been on an increase in the country and that it needs to be curbed.
The FLSZ Executive Director added that so much resources have been misdirected to activities that did help to curb the vice.

These two people are at it again! If it is morality we are talking about, there are a lot of sleazy characters in MMD who are still walking free. For instance Katele Kalumba. He is still one of MMD’s big shaker and mover, despite being accused of corruption.

How important is FLSZ and how significant is the role of it’s Director in this case for him to demand the resignation of Mr. Nchito? Why not wait for the judge’s decision?
Mr Lifwekelo can help by carrying out a citizens’ arrest instead of making noise. He seems to have something to say about every other thing. The government knows that they have no case against ZA. By the way they have already reached a conclusion and they are just waiting for a lapse of time for this to due a natural death
now that Mumba is ambassador to Canada, Lifwekelo is positioning himself for an ambassadorial appointment to Lealui.
Just leave Mr Nchito M alone. The various investigative wings will prove whether he has been found wanting one the time comes if it will come.
As of now, Mr M. Nchito is innocent until proven guilty. Thus the brother needs to continue carrying out his functions for now. All Zambian Citizens must give the invetigative agencies time to conclude their work professionally and amicably.
Thus people like Mr Lifwekelo must relax and leave the POST to do what it likes as this is a free world. These are the fruits of having a working democracy in Zambia of which many countries on this Earth do not have.
However, Mr Lifwekelo must continue to speak out as much as he can also freely.

No. Public Procecutor is not an elected position requiring morality to hold, assuming for a moment that Mr Nchito’s moral standing has been compromised! His submissions in court are accepted or rejected by the court on their merit, rather than the personal character of the prosecutor. Let the man continue to do this job, unless you can show incompetence in his peformance.
Resignations are required in situations where ones performance is compromised, or where trust is lost, and neither have been breached in Mr Nchitos work as public prosecutor.
