MISA calls on police to punish fake journalists

Share

The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia Chapter has urged the Zambia Police (ZP) to always take stern action against people who masquerade as journalists when found wanting or reported.

MISA Zambia Chapter Chairperson, Henry Kabwe, said the problem of masquerading was getting out of hand and punishing those who are caught would send a lesson to offenders and would-be offenders.
He told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today, that people who have been masquerading as journalists were tarnishing the image of the profession.

Mr. Kabwe, who described the development as unfortunate, urged the perpetrators to desist from doing so. He said there was need to respect the work of journalists in the country. He further observed that those who like posing as journalists do so because do so because they are just after something from certain functions.

Of late, there have been reports of people masquerading as journalists in the country.

  1. You hypocrites, cowards.your association serves no purpose.you know in your midst who amongst you are fake journalists but you can not stand up to them simply because you are toothless.you numb skulls you know who has hijacked your proffession to champion their cause.people who are moving with feaces in their pockets and smear it against whoever goes against their wishes in the name of journalism.so dont take us for a ride.only when you are going to have teeth like LAZ are we going to start taking you seriously otherwise for now.piss off.

  2. LT no offence,I hope your reporters are registered with MISA otherwise it will be sad if the law visits your premises.

  3. Pipo we dont hav a proper system in zambia each n every conference provided theres food n beer wil hav o sorts of media persons. Few 2 cover n alot 2 eat n drink. We hav 2 many organisation representing journalists. Eg paza, zuj, misa, baoz and the post has theirs which i hav 4goten. The many unbaked journalists r the ones tarnishing the profesional. Ok laterz my son is crying.

  4. Akapondo hav respect 4 others u read this because it was writen by a scriber. Why shud u be rude n compare media wth law? Vulgar 4 real. Pipo like u wil swear at a primary school teacher 4geting that they r the ones that made u 2 b where u r. Do u knw that lsk times is giving u free information because of journalists? If they start charging u wil ko them all sorts of names 4geting that the few scribers that lt has nid bread on their table. Iyo namuponta tata. Acording 2 ur posting, its like u r stil at school persueing a course that wil neva hav a stand alone asociation in zambia eg comerce, food n catering or bricklaying. Maybe wen u finish u wil b the interim chair of bricklaying asociation of zambia.

  5. I thought that ZANIS issued press passes authorised by police to journos but I wonder how these find their way to charlatans. Perhaps there is something fishy going on at ZANIS. Press passes have been there since time immemorial.

  6. NKECHE ALI NAMWANA,i commend you.if iam rude then you are my tutor.even your name tells.that’s why that guy only sired with you that little thing you even call mwana and dumped you because of your rudeness and left you frustrated now you want to vent it on me.i wont buy it.your premature brain is even demostrated in just how you fail to understand simple english.i didnt compare media with law but i compared associations MISA and LAZ.in LAZ when a lawyer is found wanting he is reprimanded by the association they even bar depending on the gravity of the case.but it’s not the case with MISA.when you talk of LT offering a free service i scorn them, they should start demanding subscriptions to access their site.this will help weed out half brains like you.
It’s easter i rest my case.

  7. Akapondo as ur name is tells a story. U r such a crude person who nids 2 b refined. Nkeche alina mwana means i hav a friend not a child as stated by akapondo. 8. #12 What language is it that traslates Nkeche alina mwana as having a friend not a child? As far as Nyanja is concerned Akapondo is 100% correct.

  9. Ha ha ha truth chinyanja wud be nkeche ali ndi mwana meaning has a child. Alina mwana means is wth a friend. Chinyanja doesnt exsist as a language. nyanja means lake or ocean. most pipo in eastern zam, malawi, part of niassa in mozambique n part of nacala border in zim form chinyanja. Up 4 discusion. Ok let me knock off now. Later

  10. Ba nkeche just save yourself from further shame.your english is bad.your explanations are disjointed.you-and me should stop this nonsense and let people with constructive points blogg.you are not any better than these people doing the jobs you are demeaning.by reading your composition even a psychiatric can tell. Listen,am not what you think iam.- am in zanzibar now eating a fat juice arabic toad.challenge me and i’ll give you my zantel number or maybe my room number if that my convince you.then you and me can spit at each other without boring other bloggers

  11. #15 Nyanja means languange of the lake therefore its a language that is spoken by people who live in and near the lake, in this case lake Malawi,

  12. Boi Akapondo zanzi is the best place to be. I am in Durban and the beaches are crowded. Suprisingly you and Nkeche fimo fimo had a good contribution on Misisi story but the tables have changed. Anyway she could be on heat forgive her typical of a woman.

  13. MUCHENDE asante sana. Here it’s lovely typical African touch.can you imagine there is even an Aquamarine park.but you have to dive in the sea with a guide where they have constructed big cages.our coleagues from europe are enjoying it.yeah but when i remember those crocodile stories kumwesu teti njeshe because i hear the does not even leave the head. Kusangukafye bar-b-que onse.

  14. Just up your game. All over the world, people are blogging, are on twitter, etc, and nobody is raising a finger or being protectionist. Is it a case of greed resulting from limited resources. Does one need a journalism degree to blog on the internet or post a story on youtube?? I beg to differ

  15. Kabwe has never heard of the concept of citizen journalist. New media has changed a lot of things bane, and people with exclusives these days do not even work for those shi.tto state media organisations, they are citizen journalists blogging in their underpants in their bedrooms. Fyashupa bane.

  16. With due respect to Mr. Kabwe of MISA. What does he term as fake journalists? This is a free world and pipo are free to use their talents. Dont hide facts and ask the police to flush out fake ones. You know yourselves and there no hitting about the bush. Be it LAZ, ZICA, Engineers Board of Zambia, Medical Council of Zambia etc. all professional bodies know their members at a glance.
