The Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) in Western

province has dispelled reports that President Rupiah
Banda was no longer popular in the territory.

Western Province MMD Treasurer, Michael Kaingu said media reports suggesting that people walked away when President Banda was speaking in the province recently was not true.

Mr. Kaingu, who is also Minister of Community Development, argued that to the contrary, he said President Banda and the MMD were still more popular in the area as compared to opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) and the Patriotic Front (PF).

He explained that people listened to President Banda’s speech attentively and therefore, there was no one who left the arena.

“People should not be denting the name of the President. They should not be attacking the President like that. It is high time we started respecting our President,” he said.

Mr. Kaingu also explained that the Litunga was also happy with the work President Banda was doing in the country and in the province especially in the response to flood victims.

He said government had worked hard to ease the sufferings of the people who have been affected by floods, the development that has earned the MMD government a good name.

  1. Popularity of a leader is signified by landslide victory. How many votes did RB get from Western Province? Maestro please spit some data.
I have the feeling someone is confusing popularity with loyalty.

PS. #3 Ba Zoe shani mami ukucinja amashina? Metamorphosis?

  2. What else was Kaingu supposed to say. On the other hand, RB could be popular in the Western Province because he has gone out of his way to please the province through appointing people from there to various positions in government. If anything, so far only two provinces – Eastern and Western – are having a lion’s share in appointments. This is the reason why this man should not continue as president beyond 2011.

  3. #Nine Chale, in as much as i luv my name Zoe some metamorphosis need to apply at sum point. Tht will be my ……………….name 3mths time,u know

  4. Western Province will remain the most underdeveloped province in zambia if they cant change their voting pattern. Inspite of RB trying to please them by appointing some people from the province in his cabinet,No development whatsoever takes place.

  5. Nine Chale # 4 please don’t wake that chap up, he will start copying and pasting fimo fimo, then at the end he will just talk about how popular HH is! lol

  6. Life is about free will choices , Given a hard choice without options between Nyama soya and King Snake , certainly Nyama soya will be on my list. In starvation he becomes a relief being Nyama soya, where as with King Snake one has to be vigil and very vigilant indeed from the toxic venom……

  7. Western province is the poorest province in zambia, and Zambia is one of the most poorest countries in the world This systematic mistreatment of critics and the persecution of religious leaders mingled with the the president’s individual inability to assemble a team that will stir the economy in order to minimise the impact of the global recession on poorest people in world will have a negative impact on MMD’s popularity in western province as while.

  8. If your RB is popular why does he talk about mr Sata where ever he goes? He is scared of him. What popurality is this kaingu talking about?

  9. Shame you dont how people of Zambia are, RB is not popular he is just a shameless man run from his own shadow.

  10. Robert Mc Farlane. RB has caught sight of the Zambian voting pattern. All these political appointments in eastern and western provinces are targeted, with the voter’s role at his disposal. Should the opposition wait until 2011 before they can come up with a meaningful strategy, RB will be on cloud nine.

  11. why do people from outside western province always fail to establish their businesses in in the province?i think some local’s negative attitude towards foreigners in there homeland also contributes to the area remaining backward.this is not a secret and there is nothing tribal about my observation

  12. Here is the truth

RB managed to rig in W/P where HH was leading with a landslide..VJ had the courage to even predict the voting partterns in W/P before the results were released ,otherwise if he had not done that SATA would have been in state house.

    Sahme on you Kaingu

  13. Nine chale and monalisasyndrome greetings. This news is a clear indication that President RB Banda is campaigning for 2011 Presidential elections and is panicking with his MMD by producing “Mr. Kaingu, who is also Minister of Community Development, argued that to the contrary, he said President Banda and the MMD were still more popular in the area as compared to opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) and the Patriotic Front (PF).”

I will soon upload your request Nine Chale, but for now it appears MMD National Secretary Dr Katele Kalumba’s corruption charges have been revived seemingly because he mentioned that Minister Tetamashimba’s remarks that only President RB Banda is suitable for the MMD’s 2011 presidential candidacy is an insult to other MMD senior members.

  14. When will the Litunga stop putting on the old colonial garb? Isn’t there a more traditional Lozi attire for such an important occasion or are they still recovering from Kaunda outsmarting them over the British protectorate deal?

  15. Western province rarely votes on tribal lines from KK `s time to present time . What is important for now is , the old bones whether Nyama soya or King Snake do not inspire at all though we can make do with the lesser evil…..Than the venomous creature

  16. The Pope might as well change his attire because that has pagan worship and connotation. And so goes for the Chief Justice, the Speaker its all British. As a Lozi I am very comfortable with that dressing.

  17. Wiseman-reborn; The Chief Justice, the Speaker etc… are part of a Zambian constitution mirrored from the British. Is the Lozi establishment as well?

  18. Facts are Facts and indeed comments are free, I wanted to high light on some obvious reasons why the Litunga should not be advised to change the attire……

  19. Why are people surprised that Banda is campaigning – that is what he is supposed to do all the time unlike the opposition parties that only seem to wake up during elections. Attending ceremonies like Ncwala and Kuomboka is part and parcel of Zambian politics. The opposition should also be doing the same. I still dont know what PF or UPND position is as regards the present global downturn. That is what opposition politics should be about. It is about making distinctive policies which may or may not attract potential voters. I think that Zambians still have alot to learn about multi-party politics.

  20. I wish I could understand bemba well , so as to respond to some postings ….. since ignorance has it and assumes that we all understand bemba….

  21. Being Lozi is the last thing I can chose to be if tribes were a choice, lozi men are ugly as hell plus they are colour grey or blue-black,lucky they have very beautiful women though they are imports.

  22. On “Mr. Kaingu also explained that the Litunga was also happy with the work President Banda was doing in the country and in the province especially in the response to flood victims” has the LOZI LITUNGA also started supporting the MMD or is he just supporting their work for all Zambians especially those in Western Province alone?

  23. They are dirty in both attire and house keeping, they deserve to have their own kingdom,so they can dirten themselves more.

  24. 32 Peter Chipango have you seen the LT pictures on the Kuomboka ceremony? Check out president HH’s attire and you will know how the UPND man of the moment is campaigning in a clear way and not covertly.

By the way, I wish to pass condolences to Mr Chitalu SAMPA’S bereaved family and the PF led by Mr Sata MC following his death.

  25. Please, my LOZI fellow Zambians, do not respond negatively or in an insulting manner to some tribalist in this thread.

  26. Very trivial posting indeed about beauty, ugliness, handsomeness , this said, King Snake certainly qualifies to be a lozi …and the likes of wiseman reborn do not qualify

  27. Hehehe! hold on whats going on with you bloggers on this thread…I am disappointed with some anti-Lozi sentiments from some of you, Shame!

  28. Our own CBU have been booted out from the ongoing ZAIN INTER UNIVERSITY QUIZ by VALLEY VIEW UNIVEERSITY OF GHANA.the guys were leading by 210 to 190 into the final round where each was to answer 10 rapid questions in the field of their own choice. Tu valley view sprang from nowhere and netted all their to questions.our CBU seemed seemed to be lost in theirs and on managed 2 out of 10. The guys just threw it to the wind.they had an upper hand chankalipa.consolation the three guys are walking away with 500usd each and 5000usd for the school.

  29. Iwe chi sarah jones, why wakalipa? Zoona ndiwe hulee ikulu! You have sent a lot souls to their early graves. Ha-rl-ot.

  30. Sinikalipe mwana. Bitter with me because you failed to pay up. poor little man. Am too expensive for you.

  31. I have seen some of the beautiful girls among the Lozi – tall, slender with gynaecoid pelvis. Most of them can infact qualify for the catwalk. Some of you guys who are still searching for a soulmate should try kwa silozi. Gudnite Maestro, sincere condolences to the family, friends and relatives of late Chitalu Sampa.

  32. Whats the deal with all the ethnic slurs. Leave my Lozi folk alone, I am sensing alot of envy & jealousy toward my brotheren. One Zambia, One Nation! Amutahe kwahaye

  33. 58, Monalisasyndrome thanks and goodmorning.
4, Nine Chale, here are the 2008 presidential election results for the whole of the Western Province:

    RBB/MMD HH/UPND MCS/PF GM/HP
    Votes 81993 24723 11891 1299
    % votes 68.38 20.62 9.92 1.08

Very disappointing though they were enough to save Zambia from the Undereducate’s possible rule then. I hope president HH will do better in 2011 elections by God’s grace with the diminishing of confidence in the POST NEWSPAPER and the loss of support of the President RBB’s MMD.

Have a blessed day and keep well.

  34. I was about to respond to some of the comments above when i realised that wise man reborn, zamtroop, sarah jones, mwangala ARE ALL BUT ONE AND THE SAME PERSON. SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

  35. #61. laugh out loud, Are you serious? Just becoz we have the same flag does not mean we are the same person. Grow up!

  36. Iwe ka Princess london, Do you have any brains or ni kubwata bwata chabe. gelo tekanya, otherwise you will go to bed crying.

  37. #67. Games are for kids and I guess am not a kid anymore. You seem to be a very jealous person, You can’t stand other women on blog. I rest my case.

  38. You are taking this thing too personal, Sarah Jones… chill… and what makes you think am a woman…?? welcome to the world of blogging… lol!!!

  39. Its no longer a secret that us Bembas are not only useless, but cursed and heavy in mouth diarrhea with nothing to show.In the 44 years of independence we have failed to sale to the nation a descent, educated and moral comparative candidate at national level. Is it surpring that we look to lunatics like Sata, GBM, Kabwili, Willie Nsanda,Scorpion Kadoli, Nakawala and this Chimbwi calling himself Father Bwalya as leaders no no success? We have been insulting for over 44 years and will keep doing so for many years to come. Here we are still looking to Sata Bwalya when these cankerworms will never ever sale beyond our ethnic domain. The Zambian votes is national vote of all 9 provinces.I quit cheating myself because it is dummy to think Sata and Bwalya could land a miracle on the ballot.

  40. Can someone explain how the Western province made Rupiah win the elections? I find it puzzling since everybody voted the same day but somehow Rupiah Banda and George Kunda keep on attributing the win to Western Province. Are they the only ones who voted for him?

  41. #51 you right thats why chi Thenjiwe is always greeting ka wiseman reborn, she is a hooker, big time, 4×4 VX. Uzajomba ka wiseman mufana

  42. 68, observer, thanks and keep well. Your message is the CENTRAL TEachinG OF THE Holy Scriptures and I hope all will continue to love one another in this way for this world to be a better place.

  43. 71, I think Shangombo constituency and another one continued with voting after the rest of the constituencies across the country Zambia stopped allowing people to vote and this is how MMD recognises Western Province as helping them to win – and this was acknowledge by ECZ boss I believe. Try to check out the details in newspapers as I do also. Later.

  44. #74 zamtroop I love you my dear. Your contribution are your inalienable right of freedom of expression, a fundamental right I uphold but never abuse. Stay blessed my brother. As for #77 Maestro, I am grateful my brother for your message. God bless and keep well too.

  45. This is what is called cheap politics.Surely whats the point in finding out if he’s popular or not.He should just do his job and he will find out if he’s popular when the time for voting comes.I guess to me thats one way he can only gauge himself if he’s popular or not.Stop fooling people of Zambia. We are tired of the lies.May God save this nation and may His will be done.
