The National Initiative for Citizens Awareness (NICA) president, Kelvin Sampa, has challenged PF Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili to substantiate claims that President Rupiah Banda and his government were corrupt over the awarding of Luanshya Copper Mine (LCM) to a Chinese firm, Non Ferous Metal Mining Company Limited (NFCA).
Mr Sampa said when the people of Luanshya voted for Mr Kambwili they expected him to work hard and to speak facts on the ground.
He said the MP has been cheating the people of Luanshya because of fears that his political career will be exterminated by the progressive development and intervention by the government over LCM.
Mr Sampa charged that the minister does not realize that most Zambians are enlightened with what is going on globally and most of them are very much aware of the capacity of the Chinese.
He said China right now is the most feared emerging power and it has the capacity to help Africa and even America.
Mr Sampa has advised Hon Kambwili to tell the nation if he had provided tangible solutions for the people of Luanshya when the mine went under care and maintenance.
He added that the MP must be ashamed of himself for trying to deny the people of Luanshya development and better living conditions when he is able to earn a living through parliament.
Mr Sampa advised the civil society to provide checks and balances between the government and the opposition leaders and not to criticize every matter.

Chiluba case highlights the need to have hard evidence. If there is any hint of corruption, bring out the facts. Not just speculation and innuendo which Zambians seem to be good at. A good example are the insinuations of an inappropriate relationship between RB and Namugala.
Why do people always label anyone within the MMD who supports the President as a jobseeker? Surely, it would be more newsworthy if a member of the MMD did NOT support the president. Isn’t that what party loyalty and discipline is all about? If somebody has hard evidence of presidential corruption, surely it their moral duty and in the public interest to let ordinary Zambians know what is going on? Making unsubstanciated accusations will lead to ‘the boy who cried wolf ‘syndrome.

His political philosophy is self-productive and counter-productive at the same time.As a lawmaker,he should be the first one to know that he has to present evidence to ACC and later follow up the case.As long as he is embroiled in this philosophy of standing on an anti-hill and trade unfounded allegations,people of Luanshya will find him irrelevant and if he doest present evidence,he risks being sued for defamation or is it libel.Such are lawmakers we have.Misguided!

I think Kamwili should have not applied for a contract with the Chinese company, after all he said about them. He must be ashamed of himself. He should in fact thank the government the good work, because he is instead a big beneficiary from the same investments he never supported in Luanshya. If it was RB’s son given a contract, Kambwili would have said there is coruption. Don’t just oppose anyhow, you are confusing the innoncent people and hindering development zambia.
