RB has not neglected striking workers by going abroad- Shikapawasha

Government has expressed concern that some opposition

political party leaders in the country have politicized the current teachers and nurses’ industrial unrest.

He condemned political leaders that were accusing President Rupiah Banda of neglecting the demands of striking workers by going abroad to attend the economic forum and other meetings to which heads of state were invited.

“What should be made clear is that when the heads of government meet at various summits, they do so to discuss matters of common interest, to find solutions to various challenges, economic or social. What they resolve to do has a bearing in the management of economic and social problems at home,” he explained.

Lt. Gen. Shikapwasha, who is also Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services, further explained that the summits which President Banda has been attending have had Zambia’s interests solved.

He said even when the President was abroad, he was still connected to what was happening at home and was able to direct what should be done to such challenges.

The minister added that the President has ministers who were directly dealing with the issues of industrial unrest in their various ministries.

“The President works through his ministers and he can therefore direct appropriate action through them from any part of the world,” he said, adding that “It is therefore irresponsible to suggest that industrial disputes can only be solved with the intervention and presence of a head of government”.

Lt. Gen. Shikapwasha said the President only participates in a declared dispute requiring his intervention if negotiations for conditions of service and salaries between government and unions have failed.

The Chief Government spokesperson said it was irresponsible and unacceptable for political party leaders, who aspire to lead the country in future, to fan industrial unrests instead of helping government solve them.

Lieutenant General Shikapwasha said in a statement to ZANIS, in Lusaka today that political leaders that were encouraging nurses and teachers to go on strike were in fact undermining government.

“While government appreciates that political parties may have their own ideas about how they would like to deal with the grievances and wish they were in office to attend to them, it is totally unacceptable for such leaders to undermine government by fanning these disputes in order to gain political mileage,” he said.

Lt. Gen. Shikapwasha said government was very concerned about the ongoing strike by teachers and nurses and was therefore working hard to solve the industrial unrest amicably.

  1. RB is better off a tourist than a president. When he come from RSA, he will take another leave. Or they call it “working holiday.” What a president?

  2. What you are saying Shikapwasha has some truth in it, but the problem is that our president has been attending all meetings abroad since he took office, some of which can be attended by Ministers. Why should it always be him when other heads of state send representatives? Its not wrong for people to think that he is running away from domestic problems…CHIMBWI NO PLAN. So far we have not seen anything concret that he has done since he came to power.

  3. Last time these groups wanted to air views during the Labour Day celebs, the president took off to his home village in Zimbabwe! This time around ha has gone to SA. People are bound to insinuate if he cannot intervene in matters affecting labour in the nation. Let him come and sort out the wages problems because you ministers have failed!!

  4. Shikapwasha – Bootlicking at its level best….Your sour mouth was mute when the strikes started, now tht pipo have lodged in their complaints about the Mobile President….U now open tht sour mouth to talk nonsense…Do u know how many pipo have died from the time the strike started,u ignorant-nasty parrots..May God deliver U all sick leaders…

  5. This is the problem with politics. Were we are having a crisis politicians are busy talking nonsense instead of putting things in order. Civil Servants are on strike, have the negotiations come to an end for the dispute to be declared ? Someone to advise me please. Under what conditions is a strike called for ?. I think these strikes are politically motivated. God help us

  6. Only 5 heads of state including RB are attending.Show me among these who has RB s kind of problem back home. This is a crisis and an embarasment that is why Daily Mail is not reporting it.The good thing about not being RB s supporter is that he makes the work of his opponents so easy it is like the man is in self destruct mode and with “frends” like Teta as spoesperson he doesnt need enemies to destruct. And why is Teta so quiet now that there is work?Let him chase the vendors so that they also riot

  7. Correct Rev Lt Gen Hon Shikapwasha thats true, but why had the respective ministers kept quite, until yesterday though Simbao is still mute.
Why have you also banned ZNBC from airing the strike, shame on you Shikapwasha.

  8. If i where to ask these people to take a pay cut to keep there jobs or work less hours or fce the possibility of company closures what do you think they would go for???
put into consideration current economic conditions

  9. Shikapwasha when are you going to realise that what ever you say is a DISASTER. Please learn to be quite and start thinking your retirement which is coming soon……. in 2011.

  10. Shikapwasha just shut up.Your god is a tourist en you know that.He is more preoccupied with 2011 & allowances.

  11. Shikapwasha you are talking nonsence. You say the ,”President works through his ministers and he can therefore direct appropriate action through them from any part of the world.” If this is true, why is he not sending his ministers to attend the meetings outside country?

  12. When there is a crisis at home, our parents were not running away to go and visit relatives. RB where are you?

  13. Just like Misters,Civil servants have wives, husbands, children to take care for. So let their be fair play. GRZ give respect to all camps period.

  14. RB should address the issue of civil servants in person, this is cowardice.wherever he has gone,VP should have been the one to attend that meeting so that him,RB,addresses the issues headon. He had to find time to address caders early this year, why cant he gather courage and address the nation.Things have reached a level where the president needs to inspire hope in the nation. He can as well exchange positions with whoever is being presented as a front

  15. the stricking of workers in zambia is getting worse, thus needs intervention from the head of state ,But where is the head of stete ,ALIYA MUKUSEYA.Shikapwasha do not defend RB,I know you need your job by protecting RB.come 2011 MMD NINSHI ATOBA AKAPUTI KUCHULU.epo napela.

  16. There is no cash to pay the nurses because it has been stolen. HaHAHa.,or maybe it has been spent on new Mandamandas.

  17. Fellow Zambians, nothing sensible will ever come out of Shikapwasha’s mouth. The trouble is that he and Teta and Mulongoti are so blinded that they can’t see THE WRITING ON THE WALL. Trully their days are numbered.

  18. It is really funny how we reduce the presidency. Why should we expect RB to be answerable on issues to do with a strike? Or is any Prseident who would take over expected to be looking into strike issues when he has subordinate offices responsible or that? I mean, that is why there is the Labour and Social Security Minsiter and PS. These are the ones who should be put on the spotlight. Just a while ago people were saying the Presidnet should not have a lot of powers but here you want the President to do all things, even seeing to it that garbage is collected. Iyo mwashupa.

  19. Halo shikapwasha,
Tell us the difference in benefits from that so called summit between kenya who have sent their prime minister and us who are been represented by the president. The strikes in the country today have reached a crisis level and only a fool can deny that.they need the attention of the president.you guys are just helping the opposition become popular and then you are coming out and foolisshly proclaim that 2011 RB is winnable.read the mood of the people

  20. shame on you general – you like waffling a lot. learn to tell the truth – we are stll waiting for the gabon disaster report that happened on your watch as Airforce commander! You authorised use of a faulty plane.
His excellency mr Holiday forever leaves for cape town straight from victoria falls town on Tuesday to attend the WEF that only officially opens on Friday. chilling for 3 days in the cape while your civil servants are on strike and your ministers are clueless. imagine the health minister officiating at a safe/ legalising abortion seminar at Pamodzi instead of addressing labour issues in his ministry? PRIORITISE please.

  21. Poeple tell me, is it in order to go on strike when negotiations are going on? Political interference can only be a reason.

  22. but shikapwasha why have you banned ZNBC from covering the strikes, we need to see the effects of these strikes covered by all media houses so that we can make an informed decision in 2011

  23. Like tourists huffing and puffing to reach the peak we forget the view on the way up.To be a tourist is to escape accountability. Errors and failings don’t cling to you the way they do back home. You’re able to drift across continents and languages, suspending the operation of sound thought.

  24. Imwe kaleza!!! RB has broken a record. Flying is definitely his hobby.

Its the principle of CAUSALITY- cause and effect. There is definitely something wrong with RB and these are just ripples of something happening. Before you leave your house, as the father to go anywhere, please make sure you leave it in order, say at least something reassuring. When you made the budget, didn’t you see this coming? You should have at least relaxed PAYE a bit to cushion Civil Servants suffering amidst global economical turmoils- Causality. 15% salary increament is nothing but a mockery. Remember everything you do has side effects- Causality. I haven’t heard any thing from Hikaumba. Has he been bought to close his mouth? Hikaumba where are you? STRIKE ON WORKERS VIVA!! SOLIDARITY!!

  25. Shikapwasha you need to act fast otherwise the strike by health workers will result in all potential voters dying (at the rate we are going) and there will be no one to vote in 2011. Probably you want to see us die so that the manda mandas can be justified to be useful

  26. “Government has expressed concern that some opposition

political party leaders in the country have politicized the current teachers and nurses’ industrial unrest.”
There’s NO excuse for NOT taking care of your own people … how political is that fact? Shitty government leaders!

  27. #23 The strike situation in the country is now a serious crisis requiring the intervetion of the president. By the way #23 can you tell us anything significant that Rupia Banda has done for the benefit of ordinary Zambians since he took over as president? All he has done is to give hefty salary increments and allowances for his top leaders and parliamentarians and for himself. Please let’s be serious, we are aware that some of you are Banda’s kith and kin and you are swimming in luxury and of course you have to defend him. Be objective for once!

  28. #27 cont…What goes around surely comes around,
The 2008 campaign trail for RB was like a game. Now its time to play it. I bet RB that staying quiet will definitely not solve this problem. it high time you learnt that to be president in Zambia is actually double work. Think twice next time as I enjoy the tune from strikers.

  29. How do u explain paying MPs gratuities at a time when u need to deal with the world economic crisis and especially that this is not the solution to the problem? Mr Shikapwasha this is the time to resign if u have to show integrity. Your job is to defend the the president and the party in the media. But you can’t keep on defending wrong things. This is wrong and if your Govt’s goal is to see the country out of crisis you need to distribute the money to the consumers and not the minority MPs you are paying undeserved gratituities. Do you people have economic advisers or you only do as you dream? Its very sad that you have the courage to speak nonsense in the media. Resign and retain some respect. The more you defend wrong things the more you lose respect!! It should not always be for…

  30. Latest info, all civil servants will go on strike in solidarity with the health employees. Here is a father who goes on an international trip when his son is dying and says I will be in touch. Maybe shikapwasha is not a father!!!! Don’t some things just require common sense?

  31. All striking workers except for those saving lives must continue. If so much money from departments is going to be stolen at the expense of peoples decent salaries then they are justfied to continue the strike whether negotiations are taking place or not. In any case why do you wait for the strike to do the right thing? Lets be realistic and start thinking with our brains. ZRA collects so much money daily sufficient to pay people decent salaries. I do not see anything political about the strike. *****S will see POLITICS in this action but realistic people will be sympathetic. You do not have a problem with the person who stole billions of Kwacha but with genuine innocent Zambians who deserve better.

  32. # 9 that’s a cool title for this guy. i guess from RSA he will shoot straight to Gabon for Bongo’s funeral even if the program is not yet out. The guy is having the time of his life he never expected to be president.

  33. Ola, Mwisho.. i am cool. How are you..Just been busy with other things..missed LT today……..Already we are suffering even when nurses are working nomba strike futi..i hear the death rate has gone up…shame

  34. RB must get his act together. There is no meeting worth peoples lives who are dying in hospitals and it is very irresponsible for the government not to know the impact of striking medical personnel on lives of innocent patients. MMD kuya bebele!

  35. RB’s administration is Management By Wandering Around (MBWA). He needs to be entered into the Giness Book of world records as a president who travelled the most

  36. #31 NSN “By the way #23 can you tell us anything significant that Rupia Banda has done for the benefit of ordinary Zambians since he took over as president? All he has done is to give hefty salary increments and allowances for his top leaders and parliamentarians and for himself. Please let’s be serious, we are aware that some of you are Banda’s kith and kin and you are swimming in luxury and of course you have to defend him. Be objective for once!” Your question is out of context because I am not stating Mr Banda’s achievements but merely bringing out some of the confusions emotions can plunge people into. Matter-of-factly, I am pleased to inform you that I am a realist but I am not an MMD. I apologise if you cannot read my question with the merit it deserves. I am above…

  37. Why then is RB not issuing instructions to his Ministers about what to do with the striking workers. And since when did Prof Lungwangwa become Minister of health

  38. #23#23 Kamunyama
I couldnt agree with you more people should instead be calling for the head of the person put incharge to handle this matter. This is why civil servants such as Kapoko et al make thelmselves rich we are always blaming the president. What would stop someone will ill motive to do what these people do knowing the blame will be on the president???

  39. The Hour has Come! .. was the theme the MMD used back in 1991. Its time to move on. Their hour is expiring soon…

  40. What should be made clear is that when the heads of government meet at various summits, they do so to discuss matters of common interest, to find solutions to various challenges, economic or social. What they resolve to do has a bearing in the management of economic and social problems at home,” he explained. SO AS IT IS RB getting answers from other leaders at the summit on how to resolve the teachers and nurses strike(s)..he is coming back with answers..get that!

  41. Awe Naimwe Ba Big Nose. Kibaki was in Zimbabwe for the comesa . Later on, He sent his Prime minister ( Odinga) to go for the south Africa Meeting. What is Damn wrong for our President to send some one even you who seem to to do anything with your Wen you show it will pay. Ohoops is it wen you pay it will show television.

  42. #45 Contd I am above irrational debates. For example, how do you link my question to MPs’ salaries? Your attack is also an uninformed one because even the party which you support has MPs who are enjoying the same salaries you are pointing out. Why don’t they get the the bit they used to earn & then give back the difference so that we see that they are not in agreement with the increase? Or do like Kavindele used to by donating the whole salary to his constituency>. Infact, MPs are not at fault because all they do is to rubberstamp the rates which Cabinet will have come up with. So, the people you should attack are civil servants at Cabinet Office who decide how much to give to MPs -not the MPs or any President current or future.

  43. LT please start ignoring what Shikapwasha says and don’t publish his statements, because it seems to me that he is merely looking for attention by talking nonsense. And thanks LT for not putting his diagram (picture) here once again. You have saved so many LT bloggers nightmares and possibly lives. Thank you

  44. Zambia never had a president since Mwanawasa got sick in Cairo. Its time to have a Paramount Chief and prime minister, not this President who don’t understand his job description. Sorry Kabinga Mpande for your job to be hijacked.

  45. # 47 Daisy, am doing great, I actually work in a Hospital enviroment and it seems only patients admitted in Hospitals with nursing schools will survive because students nurses are maning the wards and many are busy doing their finall examination practicals all else!!!! ma its crisis. To make the matters worse, there is no headline indicating how far union leaders have gone in their negotiations with the govt. Anyway I don’t know whats next!!!!! worring.

  46. Shikapwasha, please spare as the pain of listening to f@@lish pipo like you. What RB is doing is tantamount to genoicide of the waste kind. Is it becoz himself and the entire family and his Horrible Ministers can go to RSA for treatment when sick? RB should be probed by the ICC before it is late. This is the time. GRZ is run by the Civil Servants, when they are on strike, the entire GRZ has collapsed. I donot know the Zambia setup. Here in Bot, that can’t be allowed. Bwela iwe chi RB. Abantu bafwa iko ufumine

  47. It is sad that it has become a trend in this country to wait for a strike action to respond to problems facing workers.so sick than the sickeness, sick of politics, sick of my people wishing for better days to count the blessing,Lord testing us in many ways ,Lord help us..its a plague.

  48. This is Zambia, The Real Afrika. Never a dull moment. How nice it wud be if all this waz about pozitive thingz for the greater citizenery and NOT this one haz stolen, workerz on strke, corrupt who, failed salary negotiationz… My heart bleedz.

  49. #62. Miss Daisy. Thank you for telling the truth. I thought you would deny. Which reminds me of a casanova husband who went out for a one night stand. He woke up in the middle of the night only to realise how late he had been. Hurriedly, he put on a pair of pants and left for his matrimonial home. In the morning, the wife was stunned to see her husband wearing a g-string. Upon questioning, the husband vehemently denied any wrongdoing and blamed the incident on witchcraft; ‘ kapena ni mfiti mkazi wanga, banilowa!’ LOL.

  50. Good stuff from Minister Shikapwasha, but sad that this is how competition goes.
    ___
Sokwe kaamuleya katabi (The monkey failed to grasp a tree’s branch – one day).

  51. What we as Zambians need /want or wish to hear is not an explanation of a President gone AWOL , but the solutions to the current strikes . Do not tell nurses there is not money , when persons are pocketing 27+ billions under your roof.

  52. I have no words for Lt Gen he is just following puppetry orders and full of zero sense of course,I believe. Where is ka Hikaumba? Please let me hear you say something. Did RB advise you to stay quiet during this ordeal?

  53. Govt has banned ZNBC from covering the strike crisis. What kind of logic is this? Shikapwasha should stop being a parrot and have his own opinions.
RB – Bird Brain is busy loitering in other countries when there is so much trouble at home.

  54. #70, RB has been to Chipata 3times, Kasama once, Solwezi once, Mongu once, Livingstone 2 twice. Others are Ndola 4times, Luashya once and Chililabombwe for football. #70 he has been to 8 districts out of the 74. Please also help me how many countries and times he has visited them? Uhhh, I smell a fish here

  55. Woman of substance
I am hearing that for the second time today. How true is that? Any ways its typical of these misinformers. Chaps are crazy. I will raise a campaign to stop pipo from paying ZNBC license, so called TV licence.
    Disclaimer
Be cautious moves like this are dangerously personal.

  56. #46 you r spot on! the brother is auxiously waiting for the Gabon burial program to be announced and his off. King solomon where are you…

  57. Let as please have respect for our leaders and please respect ypur president.if you insult him in public what will other people who are not Zambians going to think of us.please have respect.when there is anger in your homes you dont go round embarassing your father for not buying meali meal.

  58. #76 katele kalumba for Presidency , Thanks for the information. How many nights did he spent at each and all the mentioned places ? He has visited decimal figure of districts , is that good enough?

  59. A nurse is not only a female there male nurses ,similarly we have male and female teachers . They need to seed their children to school , universities included . Accommodation is very expensive , with meager slave salaries how do they manage ? Kapoko way you say?

  60. Where is this Shika Fimo Fimo, can some one please tell these people to stop behaving like they are running Tuntemba, this is a country . People,s lives are at risk.

  61. Somebody, somewhere shud strive to make a name by preventing this annual event of civil sevants’ strikes by doing the right thing at the right time.

  62. #83 the country is on autopilot and we are on a bumpy ride this is anothe case or Flight 447 (air france)

  63. Believe me #84 I am not sure what the medal is, but RB certainly deserves it, but what I am sure is that it is nothing close to the Mo Ibrahim foundation.

  64. RB is not sensible! Other leaders have ‘Delegated’ this responsibility. Does he even understand the word? Kamwendo munjila!!!!

  65. I , sometimes think and wonder that the first lady being a teacher herself , could she afford to send her children to university at that salary? Banana republic we have.

  66. #70 and #80, i forget the 2 infamous RETREATS, one with his highly bloated family and the other one also infamous at the Hippo Lodge. Many many days there planning nothing but enjoying with his young wife and big sons

  67. I think RB was supposed to be foreign minister , not president, he is always on the move ahh , this man. He is like Ka mwendo munjila

  68. #73 thanks for reminding me on Hikaumba. Have you forgotten that he went to join BA RB in Mfuwe. What shall we say after that ladies and Gentlemen

  69. #25 Kamunyama…..That is exactly the point that we are belabouring for ignorant people like you and RB. His Ministers cannot make a decision now coz of course he has the powers to say yes or no. When the time comes when Presidents will be stripped of so much powers, Ministers will be able to make such bold decisions. So as long as the current dispensation advantages the Presidency, he has to stay in Zed and figure out this problem. Increasing Civil Servant salaries is not like giving your house maid a pay rise. It has a big impact on the financial capacity of GRZ. Mwaumfwa mwaiche Kamunyama we shilu

  70. It has just been announced on Radio Phoenix that the President will be attending burial of Bongo. He has been delegated by the Sadc Chairman Zuma to represent him. Zuma has seen the Nyama Soya’s hobbies includes travelling.

  71. @91 in her dreams. just last month she was talking about health care in Zambia. what a lie madam 1st lady walk the talk.

  72. Remember LPM, when he found himself at the G8 meeting uninvited. FTJ went touring china ninshi na pepa ilikali. Zambian presidos like flying alot MMmmm, they would wish they were birds. Anyone with the abra -gada – bra-gada kind a stuff. please turn them into birds.

  73. #92, Henry, Nenani and Andrew. They are all older than their mother Thandiwe. Of course the twins can not be left out as they are below 10 years.

  74. #98, Henry, Nenani and Andrew. They are all older than their mother Thandiwe. Of course the twins can not be left out as they are below 10 years

  75. For those dying in hosipals for lack of attention by striking medical personnel forgive RB, but pray he never comes back to foresake your people the people you are leaving behind. Amen.

  76. #97, Are you unable to identify this man in th gravatar? He also wants to be President so that he can also fly around the globe. It’s a global village after all

  77. You are all very uncultured and have no manners how can you be insulting your father and mother like that.the bible says leaders are chosen by God.only pagans have no fear of the lord.

  78. Hey u guys! give this man a break, look he is President and Shikapwasha is very right. This meeting he has gone to attend is not baby’s play because all the moneys have been stolen by th internal enermies (Kapoko, Miti and many others). Some of u these pipo i ve mentioned are yo relatives and u could ve benefited from theft. I wish u new how many pipo ve died due to this act by Kapoko and his boss miti. Even u as fathers what will u do when the fridge is empty? do u sit by home watching the beauty of yo wife? thinking it will bring food, right? or u go looking for means that will make ends meet. Donors have withheld the money and the repetition of all Zambians dinted by internal enermy Kapoko and his boss plus many more. Hence, RB requires not be judged at same strenghts wit othr heads

  79. Bwana Gen. Ron Shikapwasha, that statement is not enough, cabinet should come out boldly and sort problems at hand. These pipo who are striking know what is happening in GRZ circles. It no good deal to blame the opposition political parties they are not the ones runimg GRZ affairs its RB and yourselves. Please spare us the lies. The striking workers have relatives, children, wivies, husbands etc in certain sensitive positions and information is indirectly passed on to them. Bwana General come out clean with a solution to strikes, I lost my mum in Jan 1985 when health workers went on strike in Kitwe. Suspend MPs mid term graduity and other unneccsary budgets. Its no good for police to battling pupils in Lusaka and Kabwe. This thing will spark worse things for GRZ and MMD. Solutions needed.

  80. #113 We dont use ‘Bwana’ anymore in addressing people. It is a word associated with colonialism and oppression. We are the new generation and we are all equal regardless of position. Shikapwasha is just plain old Ronnie

  81. RB AND THE LABOUR LEADERS WHO HAD GONE TO CONSULT IN KAFUE NATIONAL PARK DURING A WORKING HOLIDAY ARE NOW PAYING FOR WHATEVER DEAL THEY ENTERED INTO. AS THE BIBLE STATES YOU HARVEST WHAT YOU SOW. THE STRIKES SHOULD BE A WAKE UP CALL FOR rb & HIS CABINET. THE POLICE CANNOT MANAGE TO CONTAIN RIOTS THROUGHOUT COUNTRY BY WORKERS AND STUDENTS. NO CABINET MINISTER HAS COME UP IN THE OPEN TO ASSURE THE STRIKING WORKERS THE WAY FORWARD. SHIKAPWASHA IS NOT TELLING THE TRUTH. HE IS GOOD AT TALKING JUST BECAUSE HE IS IN CHARGE OF INFORMATION & BROADCASTING MINISTRY OTHERWISE THE MAN IS A RETIRED GENERAL AND HAS NOTHING TO OFFER NOT EVEN TROOPS TO COMMAND. WATCH WHAT COMES OF RONNIE’S MOUTH DAY IN DAY OUT. HE SHOULD NOT BEHAVE LIKE A PREACHERMAN BUT SHOW STATESMANSHIP IN DEALING WITH STRIKES ITS LIFE

  82. Bakatele/oliver mutukuzi give yourself a breakdont be scared of me am just one member of the people who makes sure that mouths like yours and other brogers are shut.

  83. Iwe wemwina christu. A father must first talk to his children not the way this dammy behaves. When there is a crisis is having fun. Its been long we need him to work he rushed his ceremony to be president. Let him rush and save the many zambians dying. Let him bring his fat noise here and save the people. Useless banda

  84. BA #114 Thanks for the clarification, I was born during colonial time and brought up in a military compound so that language to me is a must. Bwana its part of the way I address pipo just to remind those who think they have more authority, To draw their attention address them Bwana. I reckine you never went through ZNS. Its just respect. Yes Bwana, Yes Sir, Yes Madam but I am always critical on certain issues of public interest. Have a good evenning.

  85. #118 bamuwelele & #119 Woman of substance, on a second thought I think “bwana” also means “Mr” as in Tanzanian Swahili. Just thought of pointing out that one so that it is not entirely concluded that it should be a colonial term of slave-master relationship.

  86. Food for thought. Thousands are dying everyday through structural violence caused by this government, RB will never cut short his tours because he is neither affected nor has feelings for the Zambian populace but in the case of a single sound of a Greener he will quickly come back within an hour and declare that Zambia is in dire stress.

  87. Zambian civil servants have for a long time suffered at the hands of this MMD government. They can change the situation because they have the power to paralyse the operations of GRZ.I urge all civil servants that know they are paid monkey nuts and not stealing like Kapoko to go on strike to bring down and finish this MMD government.Stop all functions of government,go on indefinate strike, die just a little bit more because you are already suffering, this MMD needs to be curtailed.Civil servants realise you’re in the frontline of people power, you are more powerful than the MMD wolves who steal and pay themselves billions. Its time you said, enough is enough!!!

  88. Am glad that we common citizens are not responsible for the leadership crisis at the moment in our nation. Levy was given presidency dubiously who in turn went for an old piece of cr@p to be his vice. A piece of cr@p that never ever thought was going to hang up its gum boots let alone have a field day moving suspended air every single day. I blame Levy – R.I.P for what we are going through. Its sad that the dead are dead and know nothing but Levy should shoulder the biggest chunk of responipsibilty for this mess.

  89. having just completed a week in the bush with some trade union leaders, mobile president then heads out to some posh conference to parade his good self, returns to country to find his brand new hearses now busy ferrying the dead young between morturies and cemeteries… ahh, but he foresaw all this, didn’t he? Last year Zambian tax money paid for image builders for bwana Mobile; think this year we need to foot equivalent bill to pay for Response builders. Meanwhile baTeta’s mounth must now have dried up licking those boots hard- what with so much travelling…? Now it’s big Ron’s turn. Lick Ronnie lick! Other heads of state e.g. Egyptian chose different last month when grandson died – and he would have been meeting someone who is arguably, President of the whole World! I call that…

  90. …wisdom!
When funds abuse discovered in Britain, ministers resigned en masse, here in Zed, presidents will tell us they are studying findings when their ministers are found wanting. Thats the alaBee way! Meanwhile there were no findings to study when hurts were personal from Shaka’s and mate, was first time we even saw anger on some man’s face! Thats the alaBee way, and we are stuck with it till 2011!

  91. Bwezani: (nyanja, instructive. to regress, to return, to reverse). aBwezani, nanga nichyani mwabweza dziko lathu pambuyo, imwe? He was busy chasing the post with his friend at ZedPee, now let him blame the post for this one! Just be our President man and you will make it. If you anatgonise your own people the way you have doen in your first 6 months in office you will indeed bweza our country many decades behind our peers. OUT.

  92. i understand that a deal has been reached on the main issue of salary increments. this goes to show that the president does not have to go round addressing striking nurses in order to solve the problem. he simply gives instructions to his ministers and they can consult him where necessary, even if he was at the international space station.

  93. Journalism LT-Zambian style!! Without the headline, you don’t find out who is talking until you get to the fourth paragraph of the story!! No wonder the Post shines in Zambia! In the land of the blind, the one-eyed is KING, for real!! Just like, in the land of the poverty-stricken, you wind-up with RB for president!!

  94. Surely this man has a death wish! How else do you explain the behavior of surrounding himself with goons like shikabwata, tetamalilo and mupaipi as his own people are dying. to add insult to injury, he cant even keep his fat a@s*s in one place! he is forever on the move. He reminds me of Mobutu who, whenever he travelled outof the country would take the entire central bank with him as security tht should anyone plot to oust him in a coup, they would find empty national coffers! But you can’t take it with you whenyour number is called up, Mr. banda.

  95. mr shikabwata, haven’t you ever heard of the wise adice: when you are in a ditch, stop digging!! What this f oo li sh government needs to wake them up is for all long-suffering Zambians to all put their tools down and go on strike throughout the country. let shikapwasha, teta and mulongoti go and work so they can continue to finance the instiable globe-trotting appetite of their good-for-nothing president! Listen to them blame the opposition!! U buffoons, people are dying and you think it’s because of HH and Sata?

  96. By now, everyone should know that RB is NOT a Zambian. He clearly and openly demonstrated that he is a Zimbabwean national and even went to unvail to “sleeping” Zambians his birth place in Southern Rhodesia. As if that is not enough, he has clearly shown in his actions, words and attitude towards his duties that he is not patriotic to Zambia. His country (Zimbabwe) just had the worst economic meltdown in the history of mankind. RB wouldn’t surely want Zambia to do better than his country. Now, every patriotic Zambian should know that RB is aiming to finish Zambia off; he is simply an economic terrorist! Get rid of him soonest before he brings the country to its knees! Let him go back to his village in Zimbabwe.

  97. Make your President to listen to CAIRO SPEECH by Obama…if there are no leaders in Zambia then let us rule ourselves ….we can make it, we are better off without them. there more smarter people bloggering in here than most them in government.

  98. I think Banda’s persistent and useless trips overseas are very annoying. At a time when donors are withdrawing funding for health etc, its about time he realised we voted for him to solve problems here and not go globe trotting. The solutions to the woes that beset our nation are found within the nation and not overseas where he seems to be spending much of his time of late.

  99. Obama was in Cairo reading excerpts from the Quran whilst GM was filling for bankrupcy. I never heard any American complain that Obama was on a useless trip because 2.5 million Americans will lose their jobs when GM goes under. Africa continues to amaze me! Never-the-less, Zambia’s president has an obligation to attend world meetings. Even if Sata or HH became the next president, they’d do the same. You need to be able to separate your hatred for MMD or Banda and the call of national duty. Banda is not a one-man show like Sata. He has ministers and deputy ministers to carry out tasks which is something PF needs to learn.

  100. I really support our Honorable Shikapwasha’s views. Our excllency Mr. Ruphia Bwezani Banda is a listening president who does not just talk anyhow. So far so good. Long live MMD, Long live RB
