Chalala, Kamwala South, Libala south residents promised water

Share

Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company says water will soon be connected to Kamwala South,Chalala and Libala South once the service lines are in place.

Speaking in an interview in Lusaka yesterday, Mr. Mwale said the named places have had no water because the service lines were either not in place or have not been connected.

Mr. Mwale says it takes only 21 days to have water connected in a place where there is a network, adding that people in these areas should report to Lusaka Water and Sewerage company if they need to have their service lines connected.

However, he said some residents in the same areas have water regardless of the whole area not having the commodity because they have had their service lines connected.

Mr. Mwale said his company is ready to meet the residents’ needs saying it would be ideal for the to consult the company on the right procedure to follow when having water connected in their homes.

Some residents have expressed concern that since they do not have bore holes they are subjected to drawing water from their neighbours at a fee saying a lot of money is being spent on water.

One of the residents, Regina Banda expressed sadness at the water utility company for not connecting the commodity saying she has been in the area close to three years but there has been no water in her home.

She further complained of long distances where they draw water saying the charges on the commodity make it difficult to conduct chores at home.

  1. LT, your reporting is pathetic. Who is Mr Mwale?. LWSC, next time build the water, sewer networks before houses are build. It is the right way to do it…Poor planning…

  2. All the Water company needs to do is to brong the water to the pipo and then charge them for their service, why cant they do that , it is very sad to hear that some pipo still dont have running water after living in the area for almost three years.
    Why Ba RB,

  3. #4 that is right. from what i know, the water and power plans are put in place before the structures are put up as some people may build where the drainage is supposed to be built. and knowing zambia,no one supervises building no wonder they cant put water and sewer systems in places like kanyama

  4. they talked of upgrading conpounds by providing water, sewer, power and roads to be upgraded..its still on paper yet make knew promises.

  5. The irony of building a nice house only to move around with those 5 litree ‘chigubu’s ‘. poor planning at it’s best

  6. #3,Chalala is another unplanned settlement jst like misisi, kanyama and many more.the only diffrerence is that there are big and nice houses in chalala..If you are thinking of building a nice house in zed,try areas like makeni, lusaka west or lilayi in lusaka.ther are no issues like water problems because u hav yo own borehole

  7. I have just read this promise by LWSC. Sounds nice but still a pipedream to have water in Chalala especially in the area after ZESCO pylons. I have lived here in Chalala for over two years but still no water. LWSC why can’t you tell us the truth eeh. You also sound more political that business. After all it you to benefit fmore rom the supply of the commodity.
