MMD should hold its national convention, Magande

Time Posted: June 19, 2009 5:28 am

magande1Former Finance Minister, Ngandu Magande, says the ruling MMD should not forego its national convention,as doing so would damage the integrity of the party.

Mr. Magande says the move would be undemocratic.

He says the MMD should not be like some opposition parties that refuse to hold conventions.

Mr. Magande said in an interview with ZNBC news that people calling for the cancellation of the convention must be told that the gathering is in the best interest of the party.

He said the MMD is a party founded on the tenets of democracy which must be respected and upheld at all times.

MMD National Secretary, Katele Kalumba, said it is important for the ruling party to hold its national convention to strengthen intra party democracy.

He says the MMD should not be like some opposition parties that refuse to hold conventions.

Dr. Kalumba said the convention will also allow the MMD to endorse President Rupiah Banda as its candidate for the 2011 presidential elections.

He is confident that the MMD will emerge even stronger after the convention.

Dr. Kalumba was reacting to calls by some members who want the party to forgore the convention to avoid wasting resources.

Dr. Kalumba said the entire MMD National Executive Committee-NEC-is behind the adoption of President Banda as presidential candidate for the 2011 elections.

Dr. Kalumba told ZNBC news that NEC feels that President Banda is a credible leader capable of winning the elections.

He stressed the need for party unity saying the NEC is unanimous in it’s resolve to field President Banda and not any other person in the 2011 polls.

There have been calls from some MMD members urging the party to cancel its convention ahead of the 2011 general elections.

RBs boot lickers are suggesting that other positions can be contested for other than that for presidency. These are the enemies of RB and they will be the first to scatter and accuse him of corruption in 2011when Zambians fire him from his job.Let him test his popularity in the party by allowing others to challenge him.Shame, shame on you MMD.Senior Citizen give me your take on this.

Let the convetion go ahead. The only problem is that bututulism is so rampant in our country, so it will just be for formality. Even if HH or Magande or SATA were to rule, bututulism is too high. A vote by a person who understands the countries economics and GDP related issues carrys the same weight with a grade seven drop out. End result double bututulism as the uneducated and nonunderstading zambins are more with the ratio 3:1

#9 persona. You have a Good point there. That explains why I don’t even bother to vote. The educated vote in Zambia does not count. Unless they introduce electoral college vote system where somebody with a higher qualification’s vote is worth 5 times that of somebody who has never been to school. That will make politicians garner for our prestigious votes. Right now politician can afford to ignore all input from the intellectuals and make it to parliament/plot one. All they have to do is distribute sugar/mealie meal to the short-sighted illiterates(majority) and they are done. Its that easy and make this democracy a circus in Africa. The equal vote system works well if you have an highly educated population. In Africa it is a disaster.

This time around, Teta, shikapwasha, and the rest of minions are backing a wrong tree. The Zambian gave RB a chance on basis that he was just finishng LPM’s term. Now curtailing demicracy in a democratic party is going to far.. Let us all turn up and remove this bad MMD out of power.

Hon Magenda forget about the convention to subject every position to the ballot. You are just wasting your time. Teta, Mulongoti, Mangani and others without spine have already influenced the position of RB. No matter how many litres of red tears you are going to shade nothing will change. Learn from what happened last year. You appeared to have had a better chance but what happened ? Despite that you were kicked out of your cabinet position yet the likes of Chituwo and Ronnie have remained in cabinet. Just get back to PF/UNPD where your contribution will be needed. The MMD NEC is consumed with getting favours for personal benefits and they have nothing to offer. All they are doing now is fire fighting. There are so many grey areas around but they dont seem to know how to approach and sort

Not holding a convesion will be like the rest of them which are pocket parties established by flustrated, selfish individuals who have nothing to offer but fulfill their dreams of becoming President of Zambia. In MMD everybody has a chance regardless of which part of Zambian they come from unlike some parties that openly declare that only tribe so and so should lead this party without attaching any quality to leadership. All those calling for forgoing of MMD convetion are enemies of democracy and they should not be tolerated. Viva democracy and viva MMD the only democratic party in Zambia at the moment!!!!

JOKE TIME:A Zambian dies and goes to hell. There he finds that there is a different hell for each country. He goes to the German hell and asks, “What do they do here?”
He is told, “First they put you in an electric chair for an hour. Then they lay you on a bed of nails for another hour. Then the German devil comes in and whips you for the rest of the day.”The man does not like the sound of that at all, so he moves on.He checks out the USA hell as well as the Russian hell and many more. He discovers that they are all more or less the same as the German hell. Then he comes to the Zambian hell and finds that there is a long line of people waiting to get in. Amazed, he asks, “What do they do here?”
He is told, “First they put you in an electric chair for an hour.

In afct political engineering to block Magande has started. The commenced Zambian Airways interviews with security wings are part of the ploy to sort him out. Next time they will slap him with a charge and that will derail his concentration on his MMD Presidential aspirations. Look at Katela his case has dragged on. The catch phrase will be how does one with a case befor a court aspire for the highest position in the land. You abandoned UPND & late Andy for your personal gain. Now you are in the wilderness and your chances of being President of Zambia are rated 10/100. You had better do other things for now or start hunting for international jobs. MMD systematically self destructed under FTJ as llots of founder members left and then the late LPM came and finished it off. Of all his strenghts democracy or tolerance was not one of them, if you recall at the last convention he had his challngers like Nevers Mumba banned and suspended elecions for the postion of vice president. RB may not have helped but in the eight months or so he has been at the helm of the party, he has not really done much party work..

Brothers and sisters, especially, those in the PF-UPND PACT; relax and see how God, our Creator, is in control. Someone said, “be close to your enermies”. This is what both MP Magande and MMD NAtional Secretary Kaka are doing right now.

Just look at “Mr. Magande says the move would be undemocratic. He says the MMD should not be like some opposition parties that refuse to hold conventions.” Nice move by MP Magande. Please, sir MP Magande and MMD Nat. Sec. Kaka, stick in the MMD until the very last moment when Parliament shall be dissolved, so that you can get your full money.

Should the MMD Convention be held, stand for any position you like, even if you shall lose. This is what president HH and honourable Undereducate Sata did last year in the Presidential election.

Mr Kaka (PhD) sir, I really like your “He is confident that the MMD will emerge even stronger after the convention. Dr. Kalumba was reacting to calls by some members who want the party to forgore the convention to avoid wasting resources.” The stronger you have mentioned has to do with a united MMD after its new leaders are elected which is very excellent.

This is why I am asking the PF-UPND PACT to hold convention in all 9 provinces of Zambia to choose their presidential candidate. This will allow their respective party cadres to follow the majority and the support the presidential candidate who will emerge from the provincial conventions.

Keep it up and please both Magande and Kaka (Katele Kalumba) don’t leave MMD yet.

I just hope MMD bootlickers are seeing the damage RB has done to the party.” impressive stuff and I saw it on the POST website. I hope president Nawakwi will disband FDD and ask her members to join either PF or UPND so that the PACT can be strengthened. In the PF-UPND PACT not political parties should be allowed to join but only individuals from the other parties following “late comers always eat bones” that someone said.

58 Kamwendo Munjila greetings. On your “Why is RB scared of the convention.Let him not hide under Tetamalilo. He is very useless!“, the dual seems to fear what happened to Mbeki in the ANC of SA.

Continuing on “Why is RB scared of the convention.Let him not hide under Tetamalilo. He is very useless!“, the dual seems to fear what happened to Mbeki in the ANC of SA. They dual and some MMD bootlickers need jobs and can not afford to go to an MMD convention or have the presidency contested because they fear that true blue MMD as Kaka (PhD) put it some day will make someone else, especially Kaka himself win like Jacob Zuma won the ANC presidency over Thabo Mbeki even with a record of corruption charges like Kaka who has corruption chrages still going on in the Zambia courts.

So, what is working now is to make sure that such an embarrassment as the one the happened to Mbeki does not happen to President RB Banda.

    Take Kaka seriously.

MMD convention is a must. Only UNIPists who oposed the birth of MMD like RB can forego a democratic convention as enshrined in the MMD constitution. In Kitwe we formed strong MMD sections and branches when RB and his UNIP were busy trying hard to destroy the birth of our party which RB now shamelessly wants to posess to be in power. SHAME!! SHAME!! SHAME!!

Remember the days of the UNIP ‘conventions’ at the famous ‘Mulungushi Rock Of Authority’ when NO ONE ever dared to challenge KK for the presidency? Rupiah Banda was then and still is a UNIP cadre. It is no wonder that the same dictatorial UNIP policies are what we are witnessing today and bootlicking is at it’s highest level. If Rupiah and his henchmen are trully democratic why are they so jittery about holding a convention? Zambia is finished under Rupiah.

Magande should seriously consider joining the PF/UPND PACT because RB and his cohorts are so determined that he should not have it easy in MMD at any cost. They succeeded in making sure the late Mazoka did not have a way to the top in MMD and the same thing is happening to Magande. Magande once proudly belonged to UPND and i do not see any reason why he cannot rejoin the UPND and the PACT as it is more progressive than the MMD, of course they have a number of issues to resolve and i think Magande comes in handy with his experience and able leadership.

64 mukwa ginger brand greetings. On your “#62 unless PF and UPND also do some of their own inside spring cleaning, better nawakwi just sticks to FDD“, I respect your opinion but UPND has already promised that it will hold its General Assembly (convention) in 2011. As for PF, I think they will not have a constitution until the honourable Undereducate Sata dies or Jesus Christ finds him alive, since we are in the end times (read Daniel in the Holy Bible for the ending of this world). Take note that not does not mean never.

So Magande’s “He says the MMD should not be like some opposition parties that refuse to hold conventions” was referring to PF and HP including others like Kenny Ng’ondo’s parties. This is based on past records…

64 mukwa ginger brand continuing on your “#62 unless PF and UPND also do some of their own inside spring cleaning, better nawakwi just sticks to FDD“, my suggestion is simply meant to avoid vote splitting in the upcoming 2011 elections and nothing else. Vote splitting cost Zambia in 2001 elections when we had 10 candidates and then UPND’s Mazoka only lost by a bare %age which should be avoided for the opposition to possibly win the 2011 election.

As per your “there is no choice of quality leadership pa zed mwer“, I am afraid to write to you that this analysis is very bad. There are a lot of Zambians with quality leadership background including president HH who has managed to keep the UPND intact after aggrieved characters left it.

Just ccontinue witnessing how president HH is being groomed and mis–groomed by the Undereducate and in 2011, you will notice why the no clout so-called PF Rebel MPs did not support the PF-UPND PACT reason being that president HH and other UPND officials have shuttered their dream to led PF as presidential candidates or leaders in PF with certain positions.

The shock of discovering that most of the power in the world is held by ignorant and greedy people can really bum you out at first; but after you’ve lived with it a few decades, it becomes, like cancer and other plagues, just another problem that we will solve eventually if we keep working at it.
A clever man ought to so regulate his interests that each will fall in due order. Our greediness so often troubles us, making us run after so many things at the same time, that while we too eagerly look after the least we miss the greatest. Therefore be careful of your duty to Allah and the zambian people,as much as you can, and hear and obey and spend, it is better for your souls; and whoever is saved from the greediness of his soul, these it is that are the successful.

#88. Good answer. 2-2=0 MMD-PF=0 which means there is no difference. So when we change the subject of the formula we get; MMD=PF; or if we integrate, we get RB=SATA; Replacing PF, with PF/UPND; we get; MMD=PF/UPND; Since UPND=HH; By double integral; we get RB=SATA+HH; Since MMD=PF; we can conclude that RB is the same as SATA+HH meaning that they are all the same. Hence we can conclude that don’t vote for RB, SATA or HH in 2011.

There was a man who worked all of his life and saved all of his money. He was a real miser when it came to his money. He loved money more than just about anything.

Just before he died, he said to his wife, “Now listen, when I die, I want you to take all my money and place it in the casket with me. I wanna take my money to the afterlife.”

So he got his wife to promise him with all her heart that when he died, she would put all the money in the casket with him.

Well, one day he died. He was stretched out in the casket, the wife was sitting there in black next to her closest friend. When they finished the ceremony, just before the undertakers got ready to close the casket, the wife said “Wait just a minute!”

“Yes,” the wife said, “I promised. I am a good Christian, I can not lie. I promised him that I was going to put that money in that casket with him.”

“You mean to tell me you put every cent of his money in the casket with him?”

109 NKOLE WA MAPEMBWE UMFWE MILANDU greetings. Following your “ON A GOOD NOTE THE AMERICANS HAVE SENT PROBES TO THE MOON TO PREPARE DATA TO FACILITATE A HUMAN COLONY ON THE MOON. A PERMANENT HUMAN SETTLEMENT WILL MARK THE FIRST STEP IN THE DOUBTLESS LONG PROCESS OF MAN’S COLONISATION OF THE UNIVERSE AS PREDICTED IN GOD’S BLESSING OF ABRAHAM“, the MOON or Any other Celestial bodies will never be colonised. I am writing from a legal point of view following International Space Law and UN General PRINCIPLES together with customary law following the Moon Agreement – google it to be sure.

However, the mining of resources especially Helium on the Moon might be possible, but the expenses to do in order to perform such are too great.

109 Muleya greetings. On your “Katele is advocating for the convention because thats the only place he will be able to quash RB. As at now support RB then show your true colurs at the convention very intelligent man. The truth shall be known at the convention.” This is cool and what I have been writing about above. However, Minister Teta. as ba-NKOLE WA MAPEMBWE UMFWE MILANDUhas put it above will do his best to make sure that there is either no competition on the MMD presidency at the or no Conventionl.

The only interesting thing is UPND is like Manchester United while MMD is like Real Madrid if we liken the two praties to foootball where spent material is dumped at latter while freshers are built at the 4ma.

Bloggers don’t be naive PF-UPND pact or not MMD is wining, the cancer of rigging is still there don’t get excited over the pact for as long as the riggers are there MMD will win.Why do you think they are insisting on an old man who is not popular with the pipo, they don’t care about your vote because they have a plan in place.

Senior Citizen in a parallel topic wrote name “Ichilema” to refer to president HH of which I had initially though it was started by PF to discredit president HH as a lame person in 2006 elections over the CB and Northen Zambia Provinces, but now I know that MMD booklickers are the people who insult. This is vey sad. Mind you, some shushushus have been trying hard to track me and the insulted me too which means insults are all coming from MMD.

Advice to you is stop insulting and start debating issues nicely for you may be shocked when the PACT may take over GRZ of Zambia.

Just to let you know, I’m working hard to track and tap all characters who are seeking to find me and mum corrupt for there is nothing to hide from our side.

PF-UPND PACT Sympathisers, I am asking you all to note that those who insult may not really be PF members, but MMD ones seeking to break the PACT as it is a threat to them losing jobs.

Have a blessed day and by God’s grace we will succeed to let Zambia be governed by caring people.

Its time for the MMD founders and NEC members to apologise to the nation for failing to live to their promises. Is this what people expected of the MMD? I wonder!!!!!!!!!!!! Go to villages, schools and hospitals have been standing since the Kaunda era without maintenance. Roads are so pathetic, one wonders whether this was a Movement for Multi Destruction. All said, Zambians are not interested in mere politics of insults and hatred; its time to deliver and reduce poverty. FTJ did this country wrong and thats why he can’t stand and advice MMD incoming members like RB on which principles and foundation the MMD is built. The MMD party is a set back and it pains me as one of its supporters to see how the Zambian people have continued suffering without hope.

The “Sole Presidential Candidate” syndrome synonymous with the UNIP one Party Dictatorship is clearly taking root in MMD. I really feel pity for those that are in MMD and fought for the re-introduction of democracy. What do you expect whith a horde of UNIPISTS masquarading as MMD supporters? RB, William Banda and many others…..you cannot teach an old dog new tricks. The likes of Ben Ten (Tetamashimba) really ake me sick. Their levels of boot-licking is not only injurious to their health but to the entire nation. Hold a convetion and elect leaders so that you gain some semblance of legitimacy please.

127 KAPOKO thanks and I thought you had a point on respect which I did not want to define for you as you are capable of checking it in any English Dictionary, but your “Mwiyi (Maestro) waku-Musanza # 110 SATA WILL RULE THS COUNTRY WHETHR U LIK IT OR NOT DOESNT MEAN THT WHN UR HAV SO CALLED DEGREES THN IT MAKS U BE A GOOD LEADER, WE HAV HAD LEADERS AN WILL STILL HAV NYAMASOYA WHO CANT APPRECIATE WHT WE FACCILITATED IN HIS BY ELECTIONS WITH MY BOSS MITI AN POSSESS WEAK LEADERSHIP QUALITIES” is way out of sense. Anyhow, it is your opinion that the Sub B/Standard 4 School Drop Out PF self-appointed leader MC Sata will rule Zambia one day and I respect that.

However, I will continue using facts on the ground as I have on top for this is better than Undereducate.

127 KAPOKO continuing on However, I will continue using facts on the ground as I have on top for this is better than Undereducate above, I started using the name Undereducate for honourable Grade2/6 Micheal Chilufya Sata when some character, who claimed he was ready to on just on Sata, named Chewe the virgin requested me to stop using the name Sata MC. I did it and all you characters have cried foul on the pronoun Undereducate and so, I have now moved on to be using Sub B/Standard 4 and its equivalent Grade 2/6 in our revised education system to honour your request since I listen to cries like yours especially that I recognise Professors, PhD holders and Honourary Doctorate Holders like MP Saviour Chishimba.

    Cool indeed.
