MMD advised to remain silent

Share

mmdlogoKalulushi District Movement for Multi Party Democracy Chairperson Francis Mubanga told ZANIS in an interview in Kalulushi today that it was advisable for the MMD to remain silent and await Mr Mpombo to tell the nation the real reason for his recent decision to step down as cabinet minister.

He added that there was a lot of wisdom in keeping silent than exchanging words as that would not help solve the problem.

“If something happens amongest our selves in the party, let us call ourselves, discuss it over as a party as we are like a family. Let us not rush to the media,” said Mr. Mubanga.

Mr. Mubanga further said that if President Rupiah Banda had seen anything wrong in Mr. Mpombo’s work when he just came in, he would have removed him from his position, even though the man who appointed him had died.

Mr.Mubanga urged the party membership to continue working hard, despite former Defence Minister George Mpombo resignation from the ruling party.

Mr. Mubanga said the MMD in the Country should not give up its hard work to develop the country.

He said that though Mr. Mpombo’s resignation had come as a surprise to the party and the country as a whole, it was the former minister’s own right to have come up with such a decision.

He said it was a pity for the ruling party to lose such a senior member like Mr Mpombo at the time the country needed experienced leaders to help the nation to go through the current global economic melt down.

And Mr. Mubanga has appealed to the MMD Provincial Committee to help them find some spares for the district vehicle which has been down for some time now.

He said that the MMD in the district has had a lot of programmes in its sixteen wards, but that had been abandoned due to the unavailability of resources.

  1. Mr. Mpombo must have a very good reason for resigning from his ministerial position. Besides, its his constitutional right to step down for any reason. Why is Mulongoti talking too much, is he afraid of some hidden skeletons somewhere? Twalaumfwako!

  2. Some MMD members are not happy with the direction the party is going. There are many bootlickers like Tetamashimba, Mulongoti who are giving a very bad name and impression of the party and all those that associate with it. Bootlicking has attained new levels never seen before. How can Mabenga today claim Mpombo was not an asset when Mpombo served as defence minister…They are just trying to show there is no impact by Mpombo’s resignation but the truth is that they are very scared people. KUYA BEBELE 2011

  3. Thats wise coz Mbombo himself has not said anything bad teta is angree about the timing but as always doenst know how to actually put across what is important

  4. this MMD guy has told us something senior MMD members are can’t.you can’t be telling the nation Mpombo was not an important asset as if you are very important . am not a mpombo supporter…

  5. It’s good to know there’s a few sensible people left in MMD,it’s rare to read such sentiments coming from a ruling party member.

  6. Mr.Mubanga, go to Lusaka on Monday and meet the National treasurer Mr.Desai for enough money you need to fix all district automobiles.I have instantly wired money to the national treasury account and communicated details to Mr.Desai.I also pledge one pick-up donation in your way by September.Keep the good works.

    In the best democratic interest

  7. Never did i ever think that resigning was a crime…in civilized nations, they would just thank Mr. Mpombo and wish him the best in his plans.

  8. For the first time in MMD life have I ever heard someone say something sensible! The first time they started saying rot is when someone said “I didn’t know that this seat is sweet”- the rest is labour! Funny enough, unfortunately this guy is in trouble:

    WATCH THIS SPACE!

  9. Mr. Mpombo drowned at Royal Livingstone 2 weeks ago when he wanted to photograph a monkey which charged towards him. He kept on refering to the swimming pool in which he drowned as a dam. This was a week after RB had a monkey urinate on him at his wacky press briefing

  10. never in my life did i expect to live n finally hear a member of mmd talk some sense..were have u been big guy? !…

Now Patriotic Front leader, Michael Sata to contest 2011 elections

Patriotic Front (PF) leader, Michael Sata, has said that he would contest the republican presidency in the 2011 as presidential elections despite people’s suggestions that he was old and needed to groom a younger person to serve under.

  12. Mr Sata has called on people in Luapula to register in numbers during the voter registration exercise in preparation for the 2011 presidential and general elections. He has revealed that the ruling MMD is in overdrive registration of voters country wide when we are busy in papers.

Repeating his statements he recently made during a rally at Senama grounds in Mansa yesterday, Mr Sata said that electorates should choose leaders who have the interest of the people at heart and not leaders whose main interest was money and power.

  13. Mr Sata said that the former republican president, Dr Fredrick Chiluba, groomed the late president Levy Mwanawasa, who, when he assumed office, pressed charges against the former president.

Mr Sata, who was accompanied by Chimwemwe MP, Willie Nsanda, Chililabombwe MP Ester Banda and other senior officials from the Copperbelt, was also endorsed by the Luapula PF leadership to contest as president during the PF national convention.

  14. Mr Sata noted that some of the young people whom he was looking forward to groom had disappointed him because they were of divided loyalty and more interested in money, democracy and not what the PF stood for.

He charged that the rebel MPs from Luapula were interested in putting money in their pockets, intellectually challenging him taking advantage of his humble education and alleged that they did not care about the non availability of medicine in hospitals, low salaries of public service workers, PF coming to power at all costs and the suffering of people in rural areas.

  15. Mr Sata referred to the PF rebel Members of Parliament as greedy and selfish leaders who allegedly did not represent the people who voted them into power.
The PF leader said that the rebel MPs were not rebels to him (Sata) but the people who voted for them as their representatives.I do not expect any challenge because i founded PF myself, said the populist veteran politician.

He alleged that the rebel MPs were asked to campaign for President Rupiah Banda their fellow elitist intellectual against his humble leadership who promised them jobs in government but that they were later disappointed because President Banda had his own loyalists everywhere he is busy employing and offering scholarships to.

  16. He further said that in the forth coming 2011 presidential and general elections, the PF would give chance to its members to nominate MPs that would represent the party’s manifesto.

Mr Sata said that the reason for his recent national tour including Luapula a few weeks ago was to thank the people in the province for having voted for PF in the 2008 presidential by-elections and debunk MMD growing infiltration schemes worrying him.Mr.Sata has since refused to comment on the future of the PF-UPND pact with Hakainde Hichilema.

Sata recently went into a political pact with HH with objective of dislodging MMD.Together they have nominated a joint ticket candidate in Chitambo constituency resulting in the entire selenje District PF leadership resigning from the party to the shock of the…

  17. #17-22 Please be brief with your Breaking news paste-work. The data space here is intended for comments on the lecture at hand from Mr. Mubanga.
    Thank you.

  18. This party has official spokesmens throughout the country- Otherwise, how can a district chairman stop the entire leadership from commenting on the resignation of Mpombo when the nation needs official government position.
So be careful Bwezani and the MMD NEC, otherwise you will be displined in kalulushi.

  19. Following “He said it was a pity for the ruling party to lose such a senior member like Mr Mpombo at the time the country needed experienced leaders to help the nation to go through the current global economic melt down“, I would like to advise my fellow Nationals not to mis-use the terminology related to the Global Credit Crunch please.

This continued mis-reference to it may make us Zambians a laughing stock across the world.

On MP Mpombo, I am begining to think that may be the monkey almost drowning him in a swimming pool story was just made up as a precursor to his resigning. Anyhow, I can’t dispute eye wotnesses’ accounts. On his resigning reasons, let us Zambians not panic for the man informed the President.

    Have a nice day all.

  20. Hats off kuli ba kuchipuna ba Francis Mubanga. There is a lot of wisdom Indeed
in keeping silent. Mpombo held a very high office with a lot of trust vested in him form LPM and RB would have picked skeletons in the closet immediately he became presido. Best to wait for Mpombo to speak for himself than mere speculations day in and day out.. My only concern is I have never heard of a nation without a defence minister for more than 48 hours…(I might be wrong , but thats my view).

  21. Breakin news,
What news are you breaking when that is old stuff.sata said this a long time before he even swallowed hakainde in the so called pact.maybe you are just excited because you are a sata fan.those in the knowing will tell you that it’s a forgone conclusion sata will by all means make another last attempt at the presidence so if HH thinks he stands a chance to stand on the PF/UPND ticket then he is not wise because the writings are on the wall.the bemba dominated PF wont accept the TONGA dominated UPND to lead them.

  22. Thenji Stevens(Mrs)

Have you ever worked in government security wings? Do you know that a PS is the driver of a ministry but even him classified security decision by pass him.the Ministry has a deputy minister and PS besides that the Chief of Staff and secretary of defense work very closely with the National defense council and the OOP(SD) infiltrators attached there in uniform.there is a security layer Ministers can’t break.Doing so, raise red flags.Mpombo the little he knows will die with it in his head knowing that bluffs could cost him systemic elimination.Read the FBI and CIA declassified files to help you know what Government do to those they deem are taking a self damaging path.

  23. Ba Ex Factor #28, many thanks for the data . will follow suit. Will get back to you later on this issue, dont worry if I take too long to get back to you… as for now, I will tell you that I have never worked in the security wings(my Uncle once did many years ago MHSRIEP). I am presently just a humble housewife. PS’s and them do not mean much to me.. I am representing those Zambians who can’t read or write but just to see their votes sunk in deep mud and faded dreams that they cant even walk well with their bare feet.. makes my blood boil and sad indeed. One theme I can take home is: Mpombo surely knows what he is doing, FBI, CIA declassified files or not…

  24. Funny and interesting. it is my wife that these bootlickers come to an end like the ice age and a new generation of the educated and young could takeup the leadership!

  25. Mr. Mpombo is a charm man. His name Mpombo means monkey in Lunda or Kaonde. From the day he saw that mpombo (monkey) at State House his life has not been the same.

  26. This Francis Mubanga must be an original founder member of MMD. He sounds good and reasonable. My only worry is that TETA may victimise him for being level headed.

  27. Zambi-can

Why don’t you start your own young generation youth party of the so-called intellectuals right here then shift on the ground to prove the measure and distance of your delusions?

  28. Mubanga mind your language coz if Teta or the other booty lickers hear you talking like that they might feel offended and may be forced to charge like a frightened monkey at some hotel!

  29. Mubanga, good comments…..but at your own risk! Tabakuleke mune. They dont want such. Anyway you are brave. Meanwhile hope you have plan B. Join the Pact?

  30. Please leave us in peace MMD has grown wings like UNIP it is time to Go MMD. You have started doing Rubbish Things. Why doesn’t RB visit Kitwe. He Justs visits Ndola,Chingola & Chililabombwe is Kitwe a no go area for him. He has never been to Kitwe ever since he become President.

  31. I know Mr. Mubanga, he is a very loyal member of MMD despite PF dominating that small town. Unfortunately the vehicle he is refering to is one of those 150 Mazdas Chiluba bought with Zesco money. Its a shame that despite LPM(mhsrip) rejecting them, MMD has clinged to them.

  32. Francis Mubanga is level headed and his statement has some grain of maturity unlike his seniors Teta, Mulongoti & Mabenga’s statements of belittling one of their ex senior colleague who is seating MP. I am afraid Teta and the likes may ensure disciplinary action is mented out on Francis. In any case the truth pains.

  33. The Kalulushi district chairman Francis Mubanga is a more sensible person that the national chairman Michael Mabenga. MMD is wretched.

  34. #6, #8 and #9, Right on. This guy has said sensible things unlike his three seniors, namely Mabenga, Tetamashimba and Mulongoti. It is a pity that RB prefers liabilities like the three to sensible and hardworking people such as Masebo and Magande.

Certainly, things are not going right in both MMD and government. RB told us that he would uphold LPM’s legacy. Surely embracing Mugabe, which RB is doing, was not LPM’s cup of tea. If one has a conscience it is better to leave than to stay.

  35. For the first time in so many years, an MMD member has said sensible things concerning the resignation of Mr. Mpombo!
