Share

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Mazabuka has arrested a Ministry of Education employee in connection with trafficking of undisclosed quantities of Cannabis.

Drug Enforcement Commission, Officer in charge, Patson Chiwala could not comment as he was attending a meeting in Lusaka but DEC Sources Commission confirmed the development to ZANIS in Mazabuka yesterday.

The sources said the suspect who is a secretary at Mazabuka Continuation education is currently detained at Mazabuka Police Station.

And Mazabuka District Education Board Secretary, Darius Kaluba who also confirmed the development described the arrest as sad and emberrassing.

He has urged teachers and other supporting staff in the district to desist from engaging in illict business such as selling cannabis if the teaching profession is to be respected.

Mazabuka District is notoriously known for commercialised cultivation and trafficking of cannabis.
Last month alone, 21 people were arrested and sent to jail for trafficking in cannabis.

Mazabuka District Commissioner, Tyson Hamaamba has since expressed worry at the alarming proportions of cannibis cultivation in some parts of the district.

  1. Its very interesting, Mazabuka is a small town but there are very crazy events taking place there. Lastest events. Cattle rustllers detained by Chieftainess Mweenda. Chief Mwanachingwala in Land wranlgle with another chief from Monze, Chief Mwanachingwala marries off 18 years old daughter, Kachasu brewers detained. Tow pupils drawn in dam etc. That small town is full of sweet events and this is a town that did not experience economic down turn apart from Albidon Mine.

  2. # 2 You forgot about the numerous defilement cases involving Ba “Nyengo”, the cane cutters usually imported from Kalabo.

  3. You forger about the old lady who threatened the COPS of being bewitched if they went ahead to arrest her. Albidon is also about to reopen. The sweet town of Mazabuka.

  4. Im married from there. May be it be one of the reasons a couldnot resist this Tonga lady from Mazabuka. The sweet place full of crazy things and dealings. Hon Munji Beenzu who exposed a SEX SCAM at Parliament Motel also comes from there.

  5. I smell a rat here ba LT. Hon Munji Habeenzu exposed what a wrote in my earlier contribution which is awaiting moderation. What Hon Munji exposed even led ot serious confrontations where Hon Shakafuswa even said that women are there to be screwed. Surely ba LT what did Hon Munji Habeenzu expose at Parliament Motel. What is it that you are moderating. Where does Hon Munji come from. Is it no Mazabuka. Ba LT read thru the contributions and understand the context onf the contribution before you breed hatred like M’membe

  6. DEC should just be reasonable. America’ economy is as a result of drugs, weapons etc.
Why cant we legalize the stuff and introduce 40% tax. This is the only way we can develop. We should not copy everything done by the west. its time we used our brains for our benefit not copying or accepting what you are told by Dem guys from da west.
By the way which Zambian scientist conducted a research to prove that the weed is harmful to pipo? . we have had this for ages. it is not an exotic plant to plant to zambia our fore fathers used it hence the names- TUKWANOSHA, TULYABAYUNI, FYAKAWACHINGONI, IBANGE ETC
