Vice President George Kunda congratulates UPND

Time Posted: November 20, 2009 3:14 pm
VP George Kunda

VP George Kunda

Vice President George Kunda has congratulated the United Party for National Development (UPND) for the scooping the Solwezi Central parliamentary by-elections.

Mr. Kunda said he has deliberately congratulated only the UPND as it was the party that had chosen a candidate and was recognised in parliament.

The UPND candidate Watson Lumba won the tightly contested polls after pouring 5669 against MMD‘s candidate Albert Chifita who got 4457 ,FDA’s Muhammad Kalela got 189, and Thomas Kafula an independent managed to get 51 votes

However, Mr. Kunda has condemned the recent violence that characterized the recent by-elections in the country.

He said government is concerned with the level of violence during by-elections but will leave everything to the law enforcers.

He said political parties who encourage their cadres to be violent should be ready to face the wrath of the law enforcement agencies.

Mr. Kunda said this in Parliament today during the Vice President question time.

This was after Luena MP Charles Milupi who asked the Vice President what government was doing to curb violence during elections.

Mr. Kunda said violence in any election should not be entertained and called on political parties to encourage their members to exercise peaceful campaigns.

He said political parties should condemn all its members who are practising violence during campaigns and election.

“It is the duty of political parties to encourage its members to be peaceful during election this is more important that the country has enjoyed peace since independence” he said.

#12 The pact will win a majority of the Presidential votes and also gets the majority of the parliamentary seats. The elected president will then nominate his counterpart as an MP and then make him Vice President as part of the deal. These two wins in Kasama and Solwezi have just strengthened the pact and it’s mission.

Kunda has of recency been pondering on how Hikaumba will be droped should Sata be elected president.he even advised the UPND leader to break loose of the PACT.is it coz he cares about Hikaumba and wants him to be president?NO!!what he is trying to do is devide the PACT and devide votes come 2011 so that MMD can win again with less than 40% of the vote!!if Hikaumba breaks off neither he nor Sata will win and the MMD will continue!!

The pact will work as long as the two parties agree on who to back as president and leave no stone unturned come 2011. I’m of the opinion that we have too many political parties, none of which are divided on ideological grounds, and as our ‘democracy’ matures we shall witness consolidation leaving a manageable number of parties to fight for our votes.

I don’t care who will be our leaders tomorrow and where they are coming from, all I care for is that they should be committed to steer this country in the right direction that will bring unity and peace, development and benefits to all Zambians and all those that are in Zambia. To all of you people, please let’s make the next elections work.” Do as am doing if not even better”, I have targeted 25 people I know who will most likely not register as voter. I’ll influence them to take part in the next election. I’m talking about your friend’s young brother, your maid’s son, dependent e.t.c. Zambia is in our hands.

I am seeing that supporters of the PACT are slowly getting into the MMD syndrome were one says something real and you just react with a blind eye. What George is saying is reality and the PACT and its supporters should take heed. At the moment the PACT is not so cohesive as seen from these two bye elections. The truth is UPND and MMD are the real parties in Western province. The PACT should in the next bye election should there be one consolidate this by chosing a who is capable and has an identity of the PACT and not of and individual party chosen candidate.

Infact I was UPND under Mazoka, their manifesto was the best ever in Zambian political history. The way HH ascended to the presidency sidelining founding members made me change my mind.Right now,Iam a swing voter (a progressive) NOT aligned to any Party.I never liked MMD until LPM became President and did major policy shifts and borrowed some from UPND that made me start supporting some policies of MMD.Iam NOT an extremist life some cadres of some party who NEVER give credit even when its evident that something good has been done. I stand ready to support any well meaning politician who has a vision for Zambia and that does NOT INCLUDE MICHAEL CHILUFYA SATA.

Mbikusita was given (by KK) a brand new company to run in Kitwe (Kitwe Ceramics), instead he ran it down. Kunda’s tactics will not work. He needs to start uploading his resume because he will soon be a job seeker.

The “UNIP SYNDROME” is very dangerous to people’s political careers. What syndrome? You ask. Well, the lack of appreciation that “YOUR TIME MAYBE UP, Baba!” If the MMD fails to acknowledge their failings and move to fix them, they will soon find themselves relegated to HISTORY—they should find out from UNIP how to fall out of favour with the electorate and become irrelevant.

IF these two looses does not wake them up and stop putting all their eggs in one basket(RB), the opposition will score big come 2011. MMD, STOP TAKING CITIZENS AND YOUR RULE FOR GRANTED, OR YOU WILL SOON HAVE NO JOBS—you did it to UNIP and don’t think it can never happen to you!!!

Good point # 68. What record did RB ever have for people to believe that he could govern. People should have taken a closer look at his record , but that’s hindsight now. What happens now, and the future is what is important.

Does this red-lipped snake know any levels of gutlessness? I doubt because it would only take a chap wedded to cynisism to qualify a congratulation in such a stinking manner. Only last week, he was in Pemba condemning the Pact claiming Sata just wants to take the Tonga boy HH for a ride and dump him once they are in power and now he says he can only congratulate UPND because they are the ones who won the seat, atase stinker. From now till 2011, these MMD hyenas and monkeys will engage every trick in the book to retain power but alas it will come to naught. If I were him, I will patch up relations with Litunga because that is a big problem bwana.

“You can **** some people some times but not all the people all the times”, thats a bible quotation. Life is like performing on a stage, when your time is over and the curtain is drawn, you just have to leave the stage for someone else. MMD’s time is over. UPND was not sold to PF, but MMD was sold to UNIP. May God grant me more days to see these MMD guys in 2012 shuttling in and out of local courts for Vigololo (marriage interferance cases), migstrate courts for plunder, high courts for sentencing and supreme court for appeals.

This is a replay of 2001 where we saw the opposition UPND start to win by -elections but MMD won the General election very marginally. MMD will not lose the 2011 for one simple reason; can Zambians trust Sata as Head Of State? Please don’t answer this question so quick. Can Ackson Sejani who only yesterday was an arch enemy of Sata reconcile with his new President? These are core issues if not addressed will see that alliance begin to disuntegrate before 2011. PF will no longer dominate politics in Northern and Luapula provinces, this will disadvantage the union. Will General Miyanda just watch while Sata gains momentum when in his heart of hearts he knows that Sata is very cunning?

I am open to a leadeship that is honest, cares for the people, treats Zambians as a priority before anyone else, leadership serving the people than own pockets. Be you MMD, UPND or P F will support you. So start serving people and you will get the results. Zambia is looking for severs than the ones being served. If you are a professional across the world, you dont need to sell yourself short when you can sell your professional skills across the world, you wonder why intelligent lawyers and other professionals sell themselves when you can have the confidence to sell your skills at an international level/ please dont cheat your own people, does not create the peace and intergrity you deserve. Zambia has skilled people dont sell yourselves short. Some of us teach these people you praise daily

#77 surely you realise 20 years of MMD rubbish policies is destroying Zambia. Zambians need change ,,,,HH looks like a good candidate if Zambians give him a chance.

The Veep made it clear why he congratulated the UPND. I wonder why the pact preachers are calling him names for that. The elected chap won’t go in parliament as Pact MP no!!!! He goes as UPND MP. There is no party in Zambian called Pact!!! Even the two leaders of the two parties have made it clear that they are not merging. They have only made an election pact. As we speak both are printing campain material for 2011 in case you chaps don’t know dream on!!!

The opposition is slowly taking centre stage in Zambia, surely let us all register so that we can kick mmd and bwezani out of the government, alatwanaka nabo these munshibilwa nsala. did you know that its the zambia people who are running the country eg we ordinally zambians we paying heavy taxes and also zesco bills for bwezani and his group. so its practically observed that we are running Zesco coz the profits which zesco is paying is being used by bwezani’s trips. so you rural dwellers watch out, the mmd have kept you illiterate so that you fail to make informed decisions and end up voting for the them. so twapapata salapukeni naba bamunshibilwa nsala!!!
