INFORMATION and Broadcasting Services Minister Ronnie Shikapwasha has said the MMD is willing to iron out the differences that exist between the party and former Defence minister George Mpombo.

And Mr Mpombo said he was ready to cooperate with the party provided the leaders decided to go for the convention in accordance with the party constitution.

Lieutenant General Shikapwasha said the MMD did not have any problems with Mr Mpombo and advised him to instead support the party to enable it to become stronger in its effort to improve the well being of the people.

He said the attacks by the former minister on the party were not fair because they would never contribute to the well being of the party but would instead work against it.

“The MMD does not have any problems with Mr Mpombo and is very willing to sit with him and talk things through and see the way forward because he is a member of the party who has to be heard,” he said.

General Shikapwasha said working together would not only make the party better but would also help it to serve the people better.

He, however, said Enoch Kavindele had no right to attack the MMD with regard to the decisions it made on how to run the country because he was neither a member of the party nor the Government.

He said Mr Kavindele ceased to be a member of the party the moment he decided to contest the 2OO6 elections when he stood as an independent parliamentary candidate.

He said Mr Mpombo on the other hand was a bonafide member of the MMD who was entitled to his opinion on how the party and Government should be run, adding that the party would always listen to what its members had to say.

“The MMD is a democratic party which allows its members to voice out their opinions and it has allowed Mr Mpombo to do so without any reservations,” he said.

The MMD wanted to discuss the differences that had emerged with Mr Mpombo in order to see how best it would lead the nation.

When contacted for a comment, Mr Mpombo said the party had to be run according to its constitution, which demanded that it should go to the convention every after five years to elect its leaders.

“Reconciliation is possible if the party is run according to its constitution. It should not be run according to people’s postures,” he said.

  1. Mwinsho, bafukama ababyenu, mwabomba mwe, na RB lelo aya mukubyala amataba mwibala lyabene.
MMD, well done for coming to your senses and making serious overtures to reconcile with everyone, this is what you should have done long ago

  2. when is the convention kanshi? give people what they want-democracy, full stop.no need to waste time talking you knw what people want. If the party can find money for unplanned by-election campaigns (if at all its scouted genuinely) then they can find money to honour their party constitution.

  3. # 2 these are just tactics to try and stay in power. It has nothing to do with moving the country forward. Once they win the 2011, God forbid, they would be back at it.

  4. Too late for the reconcilliation, as Mr. Mpombo has already weaken your party and made up his mind to cross over to the Pact. You worry about Mr. Mpombo and not Kavindele coz u know Kavindele, is not a member of Pariament but since Mpombo is a Member of Pariament you are scared of another defeat should Mpombo prompt for a by election by means of resigning……SHAME Mr. MPHUNO!!!

  5. Another embarrassing moment for RB and his minions,Mpombo has brought them down from their high horses, popped their heads from their backsides to smell the coffee

  6. The only reason these phools are ready to to talk to Mpombo, is the loss in Solwezi. Now they are not so sure if they will be able to retain kafulafuta.

  7. I thought the MMD Chairman said Mpombo was inconsquential and had been suspended from the party. Now the General seems to be saying something else.No direction in MMD thats for sure.

  8. flippin m.o.r.o.n.s, oh and RB’s comin to open a little shop called Shoprite in Livingstone seein GK, nose running and on his knees, had pleaded for an opportunity to jump on a plane to go to Tobago and wen RB asked him wat he was goin to do in the meantime as there were no traditional ceremonies anytime soon wen he checked his diary, GK immediately informed him about the opening of shoprite in Lstone. ‘U know sumthin, you’re rite! and only the Lord knows how much i miss stayin at the Royal Livingstone, i jes luv them little buns they give u while u waitin for your meal and my gosh the butter is sumthin outta heaven and then of course the bla bla bla…..”

  9. This shows maturity from the MMD as the MMD does not hold grudges but is a democratic party that is neither regional nor dictatorial. The MMD is surely the party of the people and the best choice for the 2011 elections.

  10. Mpombo leave these bufoons, or you will sink with them. These are just plain tricks of the dying horse! its one of the oldest cons in the book. they will use you and dump you, like they did with Levy’s name!, during the presido by-electilon.

  11. Country men and women, let us be careful with these wolves in sheep`s skin. Why change of heart all the suddenly. they have just realised that people have power and not pardoning a pure thief. They have already showed us there true colours no matter what.2011 kuya bebele

  12. Mr capitalist you have no principles or morals,i can quote you exactly on what you have said about Mpombo, you literally insulted the man, you are a two faced disgracefull, ingrate who would go back to lick your own vomit, not long ago you were supporting mulongoti that Mpombo is a coward, you supported that Pastor Lungu who gave him ultimate else he would spill the beans, now that tables have turned you give us the nonsense about MMD being democratic, what myzer you are,Mpombo has already done the damage on RB live with it

  13. RB & Kunda have to go. They have brought the party down. Reconciling is nothing to the PF – UPND Pact. Results are the only ways to campaign. MMD won the election on Levy’s legacy but 2011 has nothing to do with Levy’s legacy. It has to do with RB’s legacy. RB has no legacy but only scandals.
RB will be MMD president at the convention. Will the people accept him or what? NO! People won accept him because he has enriched himself and his family. However, the pact is coming to remove money from RB’s pockets and put it into the people’s pockets.

  14. Smoothcriminal

Please produce the quotes and site their sources. I do not remember saying any of the things you have claimed I said.

  15. Kuti waseka sana pa Zed, abruptly people are seeing light at the end of the tunnel. People allowing one Party staying in power too long is dangerous and dispensable thing. It will cost us again. The maximum should be two terms and people should try other persons

  16. People list to the Litunga – Here is a strategy – Mpombo & Magande should not leave MMD. They need to be members of MMD until the convention. Then, they should endorse SATA after the convention. They should tear MMD or RB’s government after the convention. RB has to go. He has a dangerous agenda form the nation.

  17. Mpombo……pliz refuz 2 be uzd ..why all thiz so called reconciliations……they ‘ve been arogant so let the swim in their s****************t…mulongoti, shikapwasha.kunda,…kaya mwandi aba ma guyz…….

  18. I need those sweet monkeys to tundila on this ka so called dull capitalist. kwalola umwela, nishi nako eko kalola..no stand!! SMOOTH CRIMINAL, WAKAMBA MUSHE

  19. Capitalist, you are an embarrasment to society, you want me to remind you of the vile you poured on mpombo, go to the LT archives and ypu will find all your comments there in black and white, you can be a cader, but atleast have a little principle to guide your thoughts, you are not a robot, its as if someone points a gun at you to blog and spew all the drivel that you shamelessly write, you are an imbecile,a blood sucking leach, who will go to any length kiss arze for silver, look for Mulongoti’s statement about Mpombo, shikapwasha’s rebutts on Mpombo and the copperbelt mmd youth chairman who recommended to have mpombo discplined by NEC,there you will find your comments,i wish i had you on skype

  20. There must be a limit to s.t.u.p.i.d.i.t.y! Just how many flip flop sommersaults is Shikapwasha going to throw and still pretend he is stable and focused in his thick skull? I think even for the stooge of the worst order like Kamalondo, there were limits to which he could bend for KK to pummell. These are the chaps who only a few days ago were baiting for Mpombo’s blood and yet today they are all trying to pretend they like him and would like a reconciliation. Solwezi is a turning point, ha! Though I hope Mpombo is not going to accept to meet Banda at State House for any reconciliatory indaba lest he gets “Namakandored”. If I were him, I would want a neutral venue i.e. The Post Offices with Fred as observer and Banda coming alone!

  21. Pombo, Sokwe, these guys embarassed you over some second hand vehicle. Especially Ka Molongoti and Nkunika. But Silly Smart Dora using her bottom power was treated like an egg. Nonsense. And you think people will sit idle over these things. We shall wait and see!

  22. The way of statesman is not cursing and name calling as Sata is known for evident with the way he treated late Anderson Mazoka, late Humphrey Mulemba and recently the 22 PF MPs. Diplomats and educated leaders use the power of conflict management in line with Diplomatic ettiquettes.

  23. If Shikapwasha had taken this cool, mature, fatherly, give and take, level headed and army officer-like stance from the word go, a lot of pozitivez would have been acheived with Mpombo. But now, the situation iz very hazy and may be a little too late. A lot of damage controll needz to be done.

  24. Smoothcriminal

Perhaps you would post some links because the I have tried the archives page and it is not working for me. I also dug up by searching for the stories using the LT search bar but to no avail.

  25. #29. Sebuloni Kamutanda. For sure those who are contemplating dialogue, like the Catholic Bishops, should reconsider their position or better still ask for a neutral venue. We are still wondering what exactly happened to Namakando.

  26. Oct7,2009 GOVERNMENT has accused former Minister of Defence George Mpombo of being one of those allegedly holding secret meetings with some diplomats with a view to bringing down Government.

Government spokesperson Ronnie Shikapwasha said in an interview yesterday that the State is aware that Mr Mpombo is being used to destabilise Government.“As Government, we are fully equipped with information regarding Mr Mpombo as being one of our former senior Government officials holding dark corner meetings so that people can rise against the MMD government,” Lieutenant-General Shikapwasha said.

  27. You see the major problem with a granny like Bwezani is that he had no plan for Z when he was Levy’s 2 I C. When Levy passed on to the other side of town ( and I believe he’s shocked to hear the things R B says about him, and sad to see the thingd R B does) Bwezani has not only lost a beacon to guide him: he also lost some one to rein in his other appetites which have pit him on collision course with the rest of us Zambians.

  28. 25 Sept 2009 WORKS and supply minister Mike Mulongoti has asked former defence minister George Mpombo to stop tempting fate by continually attacking President Rupiah Banda.

But Kafulafuta member of parliament Mpombo said Mulongoti is one of the leaders that should go because he had low capacity and integrity to continue serving as a leader.
Reacting to Mpombo’s statement that MMD was slowly drifting into a third term syndrome because of President Banda’s personal ego, Mulongoti, who is also acting MMD spokesperson, asked Mpombo to stop attacking the President.
He said Mpombo had always been bitter since the last time he “crushed” him for the position of member of parliament .
“He [Mpombo] is pushing his luck too far. You don’t attack a man who is not attacking you.

  29. Smoothcriminal

Perhaps you would help me by pasting my comment here because I went to the story (#38) thanks to google and you providing a date and I did not find my comment there. I also did not find the story (#41) as (thanks to google) I checked all the stories reported on 25 sept 2009 and there was nothing on Mpombo.

  30. Veteran you are better off keeping quiet, you sound like a fckn broken record,as for you, just go back to LT archives and lick your vomit you heaped on Mpombo,,,you are so pathetic, unprincipled, dumb and an unethical CRETIN

  31. I am reliably informed that there are some real Intelectuals in the wings who have decided to join politics. The likes of Elias Chipimo Jr and John Sangwa. The problem is where they will start from. The amount of time required to mobilised is too short to make an impact in 2011. These are the only kinds of people who can bring real change that Zambia needs. HH is a very smart guy. I really do like him. I hope SATA can continue with his heart problems so that by 2011, he may have kicked the bucket and then….. ITS HH ALL THE WAY!!!! N I C E!!!

  32. Mr Capitalist, i dont have to paste your comments, they make me sick, i cant even read through them again, check properly you will find your comments,i feel sorry for your kids and whole family to have a parent like you,one day one of your kids will blog here and GOD help you if he’s going to read your comments.be man enough and own up,you are such a pathetic pedantic lying prick,,,,you Mulongoti and shikapwasha deserve to be punished,im sure my words have touched a nerve somewhere, you need to change for the better

  33. Smoothcriminal

The story you abstracted here (#38) is titled “Mpombo plotting against State-Shikapwasha [w w w . lusakatimes . com / ? p = 18641] and I went through every comment. I did not see my comment there. Where did you see my comment? Paste it here.

I couldn’t find the other story (#41). I am even doubting if it was reported on 25th sept 2009 as you have pointed out.

  34. SMOOTH CRIMINAL. You are real smooth. All you have done is repeat/remind VETERAN and his fellow ba NGWELE what their masters have been barking at MPOMBO. If they cant get the message, then I wonder if they ever learn.

  35. Goodmorning
Reconciliation is always a good thing as long as there are no ulterior motives on both sides. No matter which party they’re in, the politicians must strive to be at peace with each other and thus preserve the peace that we Zambians have enjoyed so many years in our country.

  36. Mpombo must be careful or else soon or later, he will also be poisoned in the same way it happened to Namakando at State House.

  37. I an idea. We need to start afresh as a nation. That is, we have to demand for early elections. We cant wait for 2011. My fear is that more people will continue ding due to bad policies and poor governance. I can give an endless list of how people are ding in Zambia because of lack leadership. We are like troops deployed on the battle front without any defensive mechanism. We are vulnerable and have nowhere to run. Mother zambia is our only home. Let us call for early elections before its too late.

  38. Mpombo for MMD President. I hope he won’t bring himself to sink so low to Shikapwasha’s dirty hand of reconciliation which is just a rubber stamp of fear after the humiliating defeat in Solwezi. They have seen that the only way forward for them is to bring principled people like Mpombo who resigned on principle unlike the jobseekers like MP-less Mulogoti who are thinking about their future, shame

  39. DOES IT HAVE TO TAKE BACK TO BACK DEFEATS 4 YOU TO KNO THAT AINT DOING THINGS IN THE RIGHT MANNER… MPOMBO IS NOW THE MAN OF THE MOMENT AND U,LL SURELY DANCE TO HIS TUNE..MPOMBO MUDALA,ONE MAN ARMY. TRUTH IS YOU GUYS ARE DEAD SCARED OF MPOMBO. DON,T POISON HIM WEN YOU HAVE A RECONCILIATORY MEETING. I AM SURE HE WILL CARRY PACKED LUNCH.

  40. # Chansa 46 . Dont confuse names to being an intellect. Elias Chipimo Jr is no character to lead us. Give us a break, governing a country is no childs play. We need people with leadership experiance. We need young leaders with a character to govern a country.

  41. I really miss LPM but I blame him for bring RB on board look at the mess he has done to mother Zambia. The situation is getting worse by the day. Not even in KK’s time did we see such kind of suffering.

  42. I WISH TO REMIND HON. MPOMBO, NOT TO LISTEN TO MPHUNO. HE IS ONE OF THE CRIMINALS THIS COUNTRY HAS EVER HAD AS A REVELAND. YOU MAY RECALL THAT THE SAME MPHUNO, FACILITED THE GARBON AIR CRASH BY ALLOWING THE ENTIRE NATIONAL TEAM TO USE A FAULT MILLITARY PLANE. CAREFUL MPOMBO, GOD SPARED YOU FROM THAT SWIMMING POOL FATE IN LIVINGSTONE, FOR A PUPORSE SO DON’T FALL INTO THE TRAP OF DANGEROUS MPHUNO.

  43. This is a major position shift from RB’s camp. Not too long ago, and while campaigning in Kasama, RB said those advocating for a convention must resign from the party. Kasama and Solwezi bye elections will be remembered in our history books. Meanwhile we await more drama as  events unfold.

  44. All Shikapwasha is doing is crawling like a rabid dog that he is and what we need to do is help him by putting him out of his stinking misery. It’s Banda himself who declared: “bring it on” and why him and his goons when the tough gets going “bayamba ukulilalila kwati twaiche sure?” In all this, its the likes of Mpombo, Namakando and Magande I bestow bolls of steal on, they together with the gallant electorates of Solwezi brought Kanitundila and Satapwasha back in line. What we need to do now is start honking, every day, until the people’s appeal against Chiluba’s Kanitundila engineered verdict is brought back.

  45. This guy the capitalist is a fakin shushu he has deleted all his vomits on the lt web sit coz i remember reading what he wrote about Mpombo and now he has U-turned just like this i.d.i.o.t veteran. ba fi@@@@@@….a bamo nindoshi

  46. #66 Dont worry he is a beneficiary of Kuya bebele Party he will regret because once there is chance of GRZ he will no more. His Master, will be living in a house built by national resources at Baobao.

  47. Senior Citizen Veteran and Captalist are shushus who have connections with LT. If you remember senior Citizen Vetaran always says ask LT to tell if I am in Washington DC when ever is identified as Ben Kangwa. So LT has eraised comments Captalist made on Mpombo. We know that LT is a blogg set by the shushus to gather information from the Diasporians. Shame on you.

  48. Owe tata eee. Nomba elyo bola yawama. Veteran and capitalist are now on the receiving end. You see guys, it is nice to read what you write. It is very disheartening for some us to be called all the names Veteran calls people here on the blog. We know he has mental problems hence the changes he goes through. Just read his blog on this topic, we don’t even know how in his case he found Sata or PF in this discussion. Next time someone reminds him the insults and accusations he has hauled on Sata, he will say he never did that. These guys are cowards not worth the salt. Veteran has a split personality problem and this I saw when he was a student at Hone. Capitalist seem to be having a Masochism problem. These guys seem to get pleasure by the replies they get on this blog. Guys, seek help/

  49. I know believe that this MMD guys are a so useless with no agenda to develop Zambia. If they can be acting like children playing hide and seek then just know that a country has been given to empty heads. May God save Zambia from these d,ull charectors.

  50. Shikapwasha and his fellow MMD failures cannot be trusted, they are crafty and wicked. Why is it that suddenly their language is reconcilliation, is it because of their Solwezi defeat? They are now panicking and running around like headless chickens. They are differing and quarreling amongst themselves almost daily since Solwezi. Mpombo and Namakando, don’t be tricked.

#13, 21, 44, Mr Capitalist, Sometimes it is wise to keep quiet when you have nothing sensible to talk about. SMOOTHCRIMINAL has challenged you to go back to your own contradictory bloggs for you to realise why you like the Shikapwashas cannot be trusted. Just know this, you and your MMD are FINISHED.

  51. It seems to me that the falsifiers have come out and exposed themselves to the LT bloggers all over the world. They have shown us all that the rubbish they spout cannot be trusted at all or taken as valuable information but rather fabulous riff raff disinformation meant to attack those views they oppose. Smoothcriminal, Kalos2020 and Kambongolo, maybe you should realize that we are in a democracy and everyone will support their party and candidate of choice whether you like it or not. If you cannot engage me in debate or my requests for proof then you might as well not talk about me in any of your posts nor address me in any way. Your campaign to defame my character with maligns is uncalled for.

  52. cont…

You have become uncouth habit to spout rubbish on this blog is disgusting and repugnant and I have therefore made the decision to never engage you in any civilized form of debate on this blog that requires critical thinking and analysis and also sharing and spreading of information with you. You will therefore act as a free rider or witness to the civilized debates I will engage with other bloggers if at all you’ll read them as I am done with your repulsive opinions.

    From this day on-ward,
-Never refer any of my usernames in any of your posts
-Never read any of my comments
-Never respond to any of my comments
-Never address me anywhere on the LT blog

If you have any form of civility left in you, you’ll adhere to my demands. Good day gentleman/women.

  53. What still boggles my mind most is why RB, who campaigned on a platform to uphold Mwanawasa’s legacy of zero tolerance to corruption, abandoned that vision no sooner than he was elected president.

  54. Mr capitalist,,,i do not oppose your views, those are your oppinions, like an arze, everyone has their own.being in a democracy does not mean that you should support any f.o.o.o.l as long as they willed power or are in high office.you cant honestly keep on supporting the people who make reckless and contradictory statements everyday of their lives and still praise them, are you blind or just plain tyopet,i know you are a very smart gentleman, but the nature of your job makes you to be too blond,,,if the shyte you do puts a meal on the table, hey,do it and do it right, but mate your job sux big time

  55. Kasama na Solwezi you are sweet. Had it not been for you these guys would still be stiff necked.Kicks of a dying horse.I believe its rather to late.

  56. What beats me is how Mpombo can speak so strongly about the need to hold a convention in MMD, and yet be comfortably in cohorts with a party like PF which has never held a convention and will never do so. Honestly how can right thinking Zambians think that a man like Sata can ever be trusted with the reigns of power? If Banda was not a good man (I think he is good), then Sata is far far worse and he has a record to prove my point.

  57. “You have become uncouth habit to spout rubbish on this blog is disgusting and repugnant” what the f#$@k….news flash for you knob-scratch,i dont engage you,i’ll speak my mind, will blog and above all i will track your ISP, IP address, crack your firewall, sniff your SSID,crack your wireless AP and get you ID

  58. Gen Ron Shkapwasha is not being sincere. All Hon. Mpombo is saying is that the PARTY must be run according to the constitution nothing else. Just like a country is run according to its constitution. Why are NEC members failing to tell RB the truth in case he is no aware. Its plain staright forward. The Party convention has to be held every five years. Let us be brave enough when dealing with national matters. At the rate things are going RB will end up leading the Party to total destruction. It were mere members speaking louder now its Namulambe tomorrow it will be another Minister. This is an In house problem but will end affecting the nation as a whole.

  59. Shikapwasha you are an embarrassment to all God’s creation! Today you want to “talk” to Mpombo; the same person whose name you were busy dragging in the mud over his holding onto the GRZ vehicle when he resigned as Minister!! Just what kind of a person are you? Don’t you have any moral fibre in you at all? Just because your political fortunes are waning in the MMD you are willing to sell your soul!! What a “reverend” indeed!! I hope your wife and children respect you.

  60. The MMD’s excuse that they are unable to hold their convention on account of there being no funds is a lie. It is not a lie then it is a serious indictment of the Party and why it has led the country down this ruinous path! It the way they plan and conduct the affairs of the MMD is the same way they run the country then that explains why the country finds itself in the sorry state it is in today! It is an established fact that the party convention would be held EVERY FIVE YEARS. That alone should mean that the party needs to have in place a process to prepare for such a convention every five years, and not behave as if this is something they are only finding out today.

  61. Cont’d…How do you expect anyone to believe you have no resources to hold a once-in-five-years event when everyone can see your party president busy spending recklessly on utterly useless trips all over the world as if there was no tomorrow? Just two of his trips could more than likely pay for an MMD convention and thereby help resolve the myriad of self-inflicted problems the MMD finds itself faced with today. But no, with megaphones like Shikapwasha, Mulongoti, Kaande, Mwaanga, and other a.s.s.-lickers, the path to MMD self-destruction is smoothly paved.

  62. Please Mpombo if you want to reconcile do it through correspondence or telephone. Don’t ever consider going to state house, you might think of going there with a game plan of not eating anything whilst there, thats fine , but you will definately be inhaling air so be careful or you will not enter the new year.

  63. #72 & 73
    MR CAPITALIST
Who do you think you are, you piece of cr@p. If you don’t want your comments to be proof read by bloggers (SMOOTHIE included) then don’t post your repugnant comments.

  64. #83 Well spoken but what can you say about the party in (perpetual) waiting. What do you say about a person who aspires to become president of a democratic Zambia and yet he has never been elected in his own party, and all members who dare him are expelled. Never mind the incurable syndrome of lies, does such a person have credentials to become president of Zambia?

  65. On an unrelated matter, yesterday I heard baby HH Sata on Radio Phoenix talk about the pact. During elections each party will support a parliamentary candidate of the party which is strongest in that area. Now PF is much larger and much stronger than UPND in most areas of Zambia. Is baby Sata telling us that he is serious about his own party? Is it not clear to him that under such an arrangement he will always remain junior to Sata? When it comes to the presidency of the pact, how does he ever hope to be considered for that position given that democracy is about numbers? Yet when Chizyuka tells you the facts you bury your head in the sand like the proverbial ostrich, and all you can see is the hidden hand of the MMD. My, how I miss Kambela Mazoka, a true leader not this little joker!

  66. Capitalist and Veteran, you shameless old rabbied creatures, you said evils about Mpombo, you even accused his daughters of undergoing rehabilitation by Nkandu Luo because of prostitution. Why deny what you vomited!

  67. Msana wanzili

I can understand that my comments are way too advanced for your level of understanding. It will be to your benefit just skip through them as you might get confused.

  68. Chicago city

    1. Prove I am a student of Veteran

    2. Prove I said evils about Mpombo (like you accused me of on #88).

    I expected more from you.

  69. MMD is now scared, they treated Mpombo like he was dirt. Who ‘s laughing now? Certainly empty tins make the most noise. MMD, ZWA. THE HOUR HAS COME FOR MMD TO GO. Ka Chiluba promised us Bacon and Eggs for breakfast, now some Zambians can’t even afford to buy pan yama Bunzi. FUSEKE

  70. Capitalist, yes you did not say about prostitution, it is Veteran. Your vitala and being MMD stouge proves that your teacher is Veteran
