Munaile calls on Zambians to support the Chipolopolo boys

Faz vice president Emmanuel Munaile

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) vice-president Emmanuel Munaile has urged Zambians to always be positive about the Chipolopolo Boys ahead of the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) to take place in Angola next month.

Munaile says it is not good for Zambian supporters to waylay the Zambian National Soccer Team players after a loss of a game.

In an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka yesterday, Munaile said the Chipolopolo lads are prepared for the soccer competition and expressed confidence that the Boys will perform exceptionally well.

“In any battle there are two things either you win or lose but I am confident that the Chipolopolo Boys will bring the African continental trophy home. It is ill for Zambian supporters to think of ambushing the Zambian soccer players whenever they lose,” Munaile stated.

The FAZ vice–president described the waylaying of players as barbaric and that it should not be entertained in this modern era.

Munaile, a former National Soccer Team striker urged the Zambians to support the Boys in everyway possible.

He further commended government for the funds the Association is receiving through the Ministry of Sport, Youth and Child Development.

The Zambian national Soccer Team has left for South Africa for friendly matches in preparation for the Afcon slated for January 10, 2010 in Angola.

Zambia is in group D. The Chipolopolo will wrap up preparations with a clash against South Korea on January 9.

The Chipolopolo reached the finals twice in 1974 and 1994 and were semi-finalist in 1982, 1990 and 1996.

  1. We Shall continue, as patriotic Zambians to support our National Team. However, Mr. Munaile PLEASE, tell the boys to play with PASSION. To DIE A LITTLE for Mother ZAMBIA. These days the crop of players we have play football ‘soccer’ so passively, like they have already won, or so indifferently as if there is nothing at stake! We care so much about the outcomes of these games and its time these boys are made to realize the gravity of the matter!

  2. I will leave some room for disapointment just to make sure I do not have a heart attack in the event that we lose a crutial game and have to come home. All the best wishes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Do we have a choice?

I wish these players can also realise that they do not have a choice but to win, or at least show the inclination that they really wanted to win. A lose in courage and brevity doesn’t hurt so much. But if these guys keep going on the pitch as although they are already defeated before the first whistle is even blown, yeah! you should expect fans back home to be really really irritated about it.

Their “I don’t give a s.h.i.t” sort of attitude towards some of these games do show. Please change your attitudes and realise that it is the pride of a nation on the line here. No team at this level is unbeatable. The technical bench should drill this into these guys over and over and it sinks in.

  4. I WON’T!.. i would rather support livingstone pirates or city ya moto…FAZ executive think this is modelling where come people admire your looks and what you are, Football administration is work! and these people must work properly and professionally

  5. BAMUNAILE YOU ARE OK WE LIKE OUR TEAM GO BOYS GO BUT WHICH CHURCH DOES PASTOR MAKEMBO BELONG TO? HE HAS LEFT IMPANGA SHALUBA OVER THE EXPENSE OF SUPPORTING

  6. I only waste my energy on teams I know stand a better chance of winning the tournament or worse still of going further. As for teams which I know will only go out in the first round without a win or single point, I don’t even waste time to hear any nonsense from them. Mr Munaile remember to tell your boys not to unpack their luggage because they will be back sooner than they will go their.

  7. Chipolopolo? Bullets which can not even kill a small bird like Rwanda or Zimbabwe? That team is finished after killing a lot of Zambian supporters out of Heart Attacks. I don’t want to die ooh. Don’t pass any comment and make the Techenical bench hear it, do you know why? Last time supporters were complaining that the team has not Midfielders, all the players were told to try and become best Midfielders leaving the team with out strkers, so if you say the team has no strikers then the Tech bench will advise all the players to become better strikers you there will be no defenders. Those are not players they are tourists

  8. We like support football makamaka our own team but the way they do it. Munaile tell the boys to do better because I will be watch these games away from my home country so I don’t want the shame makula

  9. We are not going anywhere let us stop cheating each other.Let those who deserve to win the african cup of nations win it.Those who prepared adquately

  10. Those chaps u are sending to Angola will only waste our taxepayers money.Wat support do u need from us when govt has spent colosal on those so kod patriotic Zambian footballers.Useless

  11. No. 5, you have my support. chaps like Kalusha Bwalya has failed in his marriage, failed to export talent when he had the chance to do so (only to export his brother who didnt know any football), and now has failed to run FAZ ………….Bieng jelous(sp) of talented footballers with principles of dignity has led to all the failures at the FAZ
