The 2011 General Election Campaign has begun – George Kunda

Share

Vice President George Kunda
VICE-PRESIDENT George Kunda has challenged MMD members in Muchinga Constituency in Serenje, to step up party mobilisation at grassroots level and ensure that the ruling party consolidates its position against the opposition ahead of the 2011 presidential elections.
Addressing residents of Waya in his Muchinga Constituency yesterday, Mr Kunda said the 2011 campaigns for the general elections had begun and party members should therefore ensure that all their structures were in place.
“Tell everybody, we are now ready to start campaigning for 2011, we want as a party to be a formidable force to fight and surmount the opposition which is always losing elections,” Mr Kunda said.
He said it was cardinal for party members to commence the mobilisation exercise so that structures at grassroots level remained solid.
“Entice all those that left our party to come back and when they come, embrace them and together work out mechanisms that will strengthen our party ahead of the 2011 general elections,” Mr Kunda said.
The vice-president assured the people of Muchinga that the Government would continue to undertake development projects aimed at uplifting their living standards.
“When we campaigned here, I promised you that we shall bring power and I am glad to note that the electrification programme under the rural electrification authority has begun and with electricity, investment shall be attracted to this area,” Mr Kunda said.
He said agricultural investment would be enhanced in the area to create more jobs for the local people.
“Let me direct the Deputy Minister of Education, Mr Richard Taima and the Provincial minister Mr Ackimson Banda to ensure that a one by three classroom block is erected together with the teachers’ houses.
“Let’s not take advantage of the support that our people continue to give us and as such, we should ensure that in future electricity should also be connected to Waya Basic School,” Mr Kunda said.
The vice-president also said the earth-moving equipment procured from China had done a commendable job by grading Ndabala area up to Chibale road.
He challenged youths to access the K5 billion empowerment funds allocated for each ministry in next year’s budget to undertake various projects aimed at uplifting their living conditions.
Mr Kunda hailed the people of Muchinga Constituency for overwhelmingly voting for the MMD in the 2006 general elections.
The school is supposed to be transformed into a modern institution.
Sport, Youth and Child Development Minister Kenneth Chipungu, Health Deputy Minister Solomon Musonda are also in the entourage.
Mr Kunda is on a three-day tour of Serenje District and Constituency.
Earlier, Mr Taima assured Waya residents that his ministry would transform their school into a modern one and that it had since been included in the 2010 work plan.

  1. The end of your party indeed has begun! In case you have not done so, make sure buy a farm for yourself. That law firm of yours will no longer be viable when you are kicked out.

  2. #1 Just cast you vote but you have no right to rule out any candidates because it is a democratic election after all. The majority shall rule..and I hope every Zambian makes the right decision.
I think it was Platon who said “One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.”

  3. kunda will be opposition memeber of parliament come 2011 electionsn aftermath..then he will realise and appreciate how free press works.
Whatever it is..the MMD has just lost the elections..Southern, Western, Central, North Western, Lusaka rural goes to the UPND, PF takes the Lusaka City, CB, Northern and Luapula. That leave Eastern Province for Rupiah and Some votes in Lusaka eastern rural..Looks like MMD is deminishing the way UNIP retreated to the Eastern Province..Rupiah Kuay Bebele

  4. This is all African governments do-concentrate on wining votes. When are the elections? I hope I am wrong but between now and elections in 2011 all people will be doing is boot licking. We will see a few unhappy ones leave to go and join the opposition simply because they have been told they won`t be adopted to stand as MPs. Africa will never stop amusing.

  5. #3 – i am also entitled to state my opinion which is that I do not want Sata to be the next President of Zambia. If people disagree then so be it. If he wins the next election and turns out to be the best president that Zambia has ever had then I will concede and say that ‘I was wrong’. However, judging by his past behaviour and utterances I feel that he is not fit to rule our beloved country.

  6. At least nKunda you have one thing to do now since you have come face to face with reality that come 2011 you are going, now start parking your katundu. Start also preparing for you prison where you will be locked up after loosing. Your Boss Bwezani will be locked after you because with him shall have to remove his immunity. Iwe ni straight chabe mukobeko or chimbwakaila if you will not build one. Remind FTJ also to start preparing for his fresh arrest. No one is going to jump the net. Wapya baisa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. # 6 Peter, of course you are entitled to your own opinnion, which I also respect but you need to realise that Mr. Sata has a strong following and you are neither being fair nor diplomatic to his supporters by ruling out or underrating their candidate. I dont know when you were last in Zambia, but on my last visit there, I was literally amazed at the wide range of (educated!) supporters the man has. Certainly, a weak politician who lacks in vision, integrity, enthusiasm and leadership qualities could not have such a large following.
l will not debate the possibilty that his character is not flawless nor does his past contain occasional errors but to predict his failure to be a succesful leader is bare arrogance in my eyes. I rest my case.

  8. H.E the president of Zambia Mr G. Kunda has kicked off the MMD campaigns, mean while the wannabe is on the massage bench next to his daughter- wife somewhere in Eastern Province, what a joke of president.

  9. H.E the president of Zambia Mr G. Kunda has kicked off the MMD campaigns, mean while the wannabe is on the massage bench next to his daughter- wife somewhere in Eastern Province, what a joke of a president.

  10. It is a fact Zed is being ruled by catoons like kunda. Please lets pass a vote of no confidence in the MMD joke by signing a petition.RB has taken his Baby wife and children on GRZ expense to Mfuwe. What a joke of a president.

  11. The enemy of Zambians, Zambia, MMD and President Banda is very very weak, desperate, hopeless, embattled, dangerously vulnerable without a hiding place, out of strategies and a winning audience. He has absolutely no hand or shakers and movers but mouth diarrhea and insults only.He also lacks smart and focused machinists that can choke and make a wedge for MMD rally towards unstoppable 2011 landslide victory with RB.Welcome to the real world of strategy and reason.

  12. The Greatest gift to RB is that Zambia has no alternative besides MMD.As a result, all MMD has are media trotting armchair jealous injured noise gongs bluntly collaborating with foreign intelligence agents.Unfortunate for them, every move and network is bear and self endangering only served by Rupiah’s tolerance and signed statutory covenant that as a Methodist Christian, he will never ever sign for the end of anyone.

  13. Yes democracy is thriving with all kinds of delusions.Winner’s votes are around the country in all provinces, districts, Chiefdoms, constituencies, branches and wards.Voters are those registered in the ECZ registers and the votes are counted commulatively at national level to deliver a winner.Blogs don’t create votes but only help to promote tourism in Zambia that its a democracy.

  14. The expensive tabloids are a preserve of the internet leaders in the abroad and a few privileged Zambians.ZNBC Radio Vernatular, Radio 2 and others are blasting hourly news from border to border with main news buttetin at 07:00am,13:00hrs and 19:00hrs.ZNBC TV and Muvi TV now national wide are doing Greater outreach on the many national programs. They have no time for daily insulting tabloids.

  15. Satanist, sadists and queer theorists who feast on insulting editorials are actually very few and insignificant in Zambia. Most are none voters without any institutional hand. The guanteeing issue is that all engines and apparatus of statecraft are at full throttle to protect the country from treasonously being risked with a fall into the hands of quacks and subversive mercenaries.

  16. This is provable that the Greatest gift to RB is that Zambia has no alternative besides MMD.As a result, all MMD has as opposition are media trotting armchair jealous injured noise gongs bluntly collaborating with foreign intelligence agents as if those foreign operatives have a bearing on the ECZ votes.Registered Zambians voters vote and give a verdict.Foreign intelligence money is never free lunch.

  17. Failure to deliver on the promise over collected money, you become a slave at all cost or their victim of assassination to close the chapter. Its at owners’ peril which receives no state protection considering that you can’t report the harrassment. If anything, those are institutions that can never be beaten by a simple soul in chase of money unless you deliver.

  18. Why panicking ba Kunda. Your time is up whether you like it or not. You will never enjoy the remaining one year in power.Start getting farm land for settling.

  19. Hey, what is the latest regarding Dan Kalale? Is he not on the way to joining Tetafimofimo, making peace with his Creator? Kalibalya sana abaice ka Dan.

  20. iwe peter chpango dont you know that sata is the next president? show some respect you dish washer. you probably just busy wipping tables at mcdonalds then you must say bad things about our president

  21. Sesheke priest arrested for growing dagga near church

RB: declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation continues

    Contradicting headlines and statements. Nimavuto…

  22. # Ba 24,

God restore him but he comes from an institution of thousands more highly trained profession. In the absence of Moses, Joshua is there.Read Joshua 5:1-6. If anything, the failure of insulting centered politics is to drive and realise reforms. Here is RB entering 2011 with full constitutional powers Levy Mwanawasa refused to have them trimmed even in the new constitution.Any replacement of Kalale Mwanawasa left, its RB’s skilled appointment that will take over.FYI, the 2011 election will be on the old constitution.I don’t see time for a referendum between now and 2011.

  23. Now the brown envelopes will be dished out in their millions and Thandiwe will give out those ‘donations’ on full time basis.

  24. Mr Kunda, isn’t that the ‘Zambia Forward’ symbol of UPND your are displaying? Anyway, you are welcome to the pact.

  25. peter chipango,
You are dead right my brother, unfortunately this is cheap zambia where even rogues like sata can be cosidered for presidency forgeting their rough past.

  26. #10 Nine Chale, we need frank people such as you in Zambia. People who make a judgement impartially, regardless of whether they like the person they are judging against or for. Nine Chale, I read all your contributions. Most of them if not all make a lot of sense. You know, I also recently went to Zambia. I was amazed at the large following SATA enjoys. Its not surprising. SATA, is the man of the people. He speaks their language, regardless of their whatever backgrounds. And he’s got genuine ambitions to become a president and people believe him.

  27. #16, ba Patriotic. Do you really even visit Zambia. You seem to be in total darkness. The way you don’t think as a Zambian isn’t how Zambians are now. They now think better than you chaps in the states who don’teven know that Africa is a continent. My friend wake up from your foo.lish slumber. MMD is finished. If Bwezani is your uncle, you are in deep sh.it.

  28. #31 peter, thanks for the encouraging words. Despite our individual political differences, I think we can still engage in a friendly and constructive dialogue on this site. The point of the matter is that we are all Zambians and (at least I hope) we all would like to see our country reach greater heights no matter who is in power. So it is in this sense that I strive to play a well-intentioned part in this community by contributing in a healthy way to the comments on this site. I’m out for today…

  29. This explains why some Zambians are saying that George Kunda is sick in the head. How can the 2011 elections be in full swing when the MMD has not even had their convention? And is he really sure that he will still be Veep and Minister of Justice by the end of 2010? Will the government ministers now leave their offices to be on the campaign trail? Who is going to do the governing? I guess this is normal when you live in a country where the PIG (party and its government) thrives.

  30. #1 this is for you, my brother. “TAJ Pamodzi Hotel pays courtesy call on Sata. TAJ Pamodzi Hotel yesterday paid a courtesy call on Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata at his residence and gave him Christmas/New Year gifts which included a card, cake and wine. Pillai told Sata that Taj would look into the possibility of building hotels in other parts of Zambia and invited the PF leader to Pamodzi Hotel for a meal whenever it would be convenient for him.”

  31. cntd frm #35. “Sata encouraged Pillai to ensure that Taj builds more hotels in Copperbelt Province and other tourist destinations in Northern, Southern and Western provinces.”

  32. Ka Kunda, why are you panicking? There is still roughly two years before the next elections; I mean elections will probably be in November/December 2011 and we are still in 2009. So, just concentrate on doing the job that tax-payers pay you to do and don’t waste government time campaigning for your losing big brother RB. If you start campaigning now, you will fast run out of steam before even 2011 comes, worse still you my just die of exhaustion or develop cancer of the larynx. Take it easy, comrade Sata is all set to be the next President of Zed. Remember ka Kunda, get busy cleaning up your mess becoz you’re surely going in dude.

  33. Now bwana kunda, you have started campaigning, iam wondering who you are campaingning for as president seing that the MMD has not even gone for the convetion.Should we conclude that the convetion is going to be a farce.

  34. Who declares the start of or flags off the campaign? Is it the President or his Vice?? I am confused here. Please help!!!

  35. #40, that happens in a normal govt and country. Can you say zambia has a normal govt with the likes of Mulongoti, the fox, Shikawasha or whatever you call him, Mabenga, and the lot. What a circu?. I really don’t appreciate the way these monkeys are doing things and what political experience George Kunda? Good people are being kicked out such as the former AG, seasoned intellectuals who do not understand bootlicking , what a mess? What does Dora B P know about education? It is only spineless intellectuals who are still bootlicking in order to wait for their gratuity. Wina aqzalila in 2011.

  36. Comment not appreciated no 38. I can see you went to smoke dagga in the states. Come and join us we teach you how to maintain mine equipement in oz for 10 times what you earn in a month per week over here.

    Take that rubbish off

  37. Sata and FTJ are the same, so we need a better president for the pact, and not a smooth talk, to make to crowd applauses, from the first-sight of things..
MMD must removed completely meaning, even everyone who has helped it sink…Ka shitata ka Sata, has to be first to go.. and allow new blood.

  38. peter,
That’s what make zambia cheap.how do you believe somebody who promises you heaven in 90 days, how do you believe some who promises to construct a school and clinic every ten square km radius.how do you trust a man a wields a panga to settle scores.sata is popular especially in urban areas where you find people expecting money in the pocket without sweat.

  39. Kunda is sinile! He will be hit hard like Lupando Katoloshi in ’06 elections in Lukashya! Dont think you will 4ever b in govt or VP for that matter! Things can change! This bu.gger has been the source of so much accrimony in the country! He’s aggravating everyone and anyone! Kunda, you should build a prison for your 4 Star imprisonment, otherwise you will roat in Chimbokaila. You strike as a seemingly aloaf, assuming, arrogant and unintelligent creature. Your speaches are annoying and down right dump. Who would want to be represented in a court case by such an imbicile? We will get you, Kafupi, RnB and Mchenga with Gods help and time, and we will not forget!

  40. hey ..#42 what do you mean when you say you don’t appreciate comment on #38? Is vice President George Kunda paying for you school fees here in OZ? Thats the sort of mouth diarrhea we are talking about..leave #38 alone,is just expressing his/her opinion.whether you like it or not sooner or later Kunda will be led to account for his injustices he has committed to the press and the Zambia people at large .

  41. Lets be rational at times. Maybe you are I dont know. MMD is winning in 2011. Disagree if you want but you know thats the truth. There’s no alternative party and leader to MMD and RB as at now. PF-UPND pact is done and cant progress. Be critical and think with a clear mind ladies and gentlement. MMD shall rule upto 2016 for now atleast.

  42. If you say RB is bad because of what you have seen in the past one year or so. How many bad things have you seen concerning Sata in the past 20 or 30 years which you want to deliberately forget. Come on. Be real. As some have noted, if Sata wins and becomes a good president, fine. But I am convinced and I know its true that Sata is not a realist in economy terms. he has a political mouth that knows how to sway people. he can’t bmake a good pilot. he is a passenger and shall remain such forever and ever. Painful as it is but it is the truth brothers and sisters and I knwo you know it. Dont be hypocrites!!!

  43. Nine Chale you are a very level headed person. Actually first thing I do when I blogg is read your contributions. You are simply the best, like Number 31 Peter says.

Street Daddy wishes you a prosperous 2010.

  44. The game is on no surrender no retreat milupi with your party ADD watchout the PACT is in motion MMD is bussy preparing for their exit collegues let us not waste our energy by joining hopless parties whose direction is un clear with no membership. Where is ULP the founder is bussy enjoying with the RB government and has left the followers in the cold, however the PACT has welcomed the lost followers, What about the YOUNG GENERATION PARTY of sulampwa no followers no convention exist when the seem to be a crisis in the nation that is when they are head and many more useless parties. so comrades let us join the PACT.

  45. Just as it was in 1990 so shall it be in 2011, Eastern Province will remain with MMD while the rest of the provinces will ditch MMD for the PF/UPND pact.

  46. Good observation too. And I think thats the news we should be looking at? I was also wondering. There could be something. We shall know anyway but bear in mind that he is one the people that wanted to contest the MMD presidency after the death of Mwanawasa. So he is one of ‘our’ own I think. Huh

  47. They all just like power like I always say………….You guys, Just think of their way out to go and see Ciwa

  48. Just a matter of interest, i think the picture used for the Vice President Launch may be misleading as one who think Mr. Hikaumba was part of the same when not. The Picture was actually taken during the labour day celebrations. Please edit these pictures to avoid getting Mr Hikaumba in trouble with its membership as he may mistakenly be seen to be an MMD member.

  49. I blame MMD for building Sata into the next President. If only MMD changed their Presidential team, the pact would be unpacked immediately.

  50. Total Madness in MMD(Movement of Maddy Dragons),who should announce the beggining of Campaigns,RB or George. Total madness, who is boss to who RB and George or they are the same since RB is a foreigner in MMD and RB has no Power to Kick him Out No matter of what he does wrong or bad.Shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  51. For a lawyer, Kunda is a pathetic public speaker and his mediocre administrative skills do little to justify the main reason why he is running two posts at the moment. For a lawyer, the chap is very dull.

  52. The 2011 elections are about 2 years away from now…I find it rather funny how politicians like Mr Kunda show more interest (and devote more time)–apparently–in working for their own selfish ends, their (ever next) re-election, instead of laying open their long-term development plans for the country and tabling them before the Zambian people. In fact, we can all just forget to expect to hear a politician tell us when the next hospital will be built, the next school, when the next jobs will be created or how, or when a government-sponsored business venture (w/o expats!) will be launched, …. no plans, nothing, except that BIG MOUTH!

  53. Its not upto us bloggers to convince each each here not to vote for Sata, but for us to convince 39% of the voters that did so in 2008 (and the 20% of UPND) not to vote for him. Otherwise he has already won
