Police warn and caution Kambwili for threatening violence on Muvi TV staff

Time Posted: January 25, 2010 6:09 pm

PF Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili (L)

Police have recorded a warn and caution statement from opposition Patriotic Front (PF) Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambili for allegedly threatening violence on members of staff of Muvi television station last week.

Police recorded the statement from Mr. Kambwili at Woodland Police Station in Lusaka today.
Mr. Kambwili and some of the suspected PF cadres are alleged to have on January 19, 2010, and his sympathizers stormed Muvi TV premises at night during a live programme and threatened violence to the guests on the programme and some journalists.

After the warn and caution statement, Mr. Kambwili told his sympathizers that he was not worried about the Muvi TV issue.
He said the PF was not party.

Mr. Kambwili said police will inform the nation about his fate once investigations over the matter are completed.
He was accompanied to Woodlands Police Station by Mandevu Member of Parliament Jean Kapata, Munali MP Mumbi Phiri and other PF members.

Bottom line is Zambia is out of control and in a state of emergency.. This tit for tat violence which has engulfed and compromised the Inspector Genral is getting out of hand.. I am at loss and can’t understand all this, maybe because the law of the jungle has taken over the rule of law in Zambia. A well known MMD thug who makes a living by making innocent people’s live hell is not warned and cautioned for threatening to commit a violent crime and the powers that be even have the audacity and without shame declare that he has not committed any crime and on the other hand Mr Kambwili, a Patriotic Front MP has been summoned by police for threatening violence. Surely our country has become a laughing stock in the eyes of the world.

#7 -I for one do not condone violence whether it is perpetrated by govt thugs or PF thugs. I think the Chalwe guy should be expelled from the MMD and criminal charges brought against him. I am not sure of the facts regarding the ZANAMA member so I can not comment on that but anyone who espouses violence should not escape justice. However, this Kambwili guy does seem to have a problem with authority as he is always in the news for the wrong things – insulting people from NW province, demonstrating against Chinese (then doing business with them) and not respecting parliamentary rules such as allowing others to have their say in the august house. If that is the kind of person you want to lead this country you are entitled to your opinion as I am to mine.

    # 6, Veteran is not blogging because he is at the moment in the entourage of Ghost Worker Thadiwe in Los Angeles. I have told you that I know this man. He is Ben Kangwa hence his disappearance lately on this blog. He is with his boss’s wife. She came for shopping on Rodel Drive (Beverly Hills).

About Kambwili, it is fun how the same police service misses the criminality in Chalwe’s (The MMD Rapist) threats, but sees it in Kambwili’s. As if this is not enough, Banda supports Chalwe. Banda is about to plunge Zambia in a serious Zimbabwe situation were cadres go free even after heinous crimes. Remember the murder at Chisokone Market? Who did they arrest? People protesting the murder. Unbelievable.

#9 Shimaule. My point is.. I hope all of us Zambians realise is that our country is quickly turning into a violent ungovernable Kenya / Somalia type country of hatred and we all have have the duty to end this nonsense. At this point all political opinions on who was right, who is better than the other, who did what, who retaliated, who provoked who first. who sad what when and how is all irrelevant as the situation has detoriorated into intimidation & violence of Zambians by Zambians. Even on this blog everyone wants to be right now but right about what? The bottom Line is THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF OUR ARMED FORCES & President of Zambia needs to take control of the degrading political & social situation. he needs to stop whaever he’s doing. 2011 elcts etc are not important.

We all need to call for and end to all violence being perpetrated by ALL PARTIES.. We ordinary citizens need to take note and demand maturity and responsibility from ALL our so called leaders from Wards to consituencies to State house. ALL, I mean UPND, MMD, PF, FDD and the others.. otherwise I pray God gives me long life because I will ensure every one that failed to uphold swarn consitutional duties responsibilitites pay for any Zambian that loses a life. Look at IRAQ, Chemical ALI has just been executed this morning for the 5,000 people he killed.. The same will go for all these so called leaders in future should they not start using their brains..

    # 11 Digga, No one could say it any better. You have hit the nail on the head. The President must take responsibility. Katele took responsibility over George Mpombo issue. How about the President? The buck stops at him. It is not that he is not seeing what is happening, but he is deliberately paying a blind eye as he is in bed with criminals and plunderers. How do you expect a law abiding person to start working with FTJ? The President is the Commander in Chief and he has the police first asking him who to arrest. The Police force is dead until they are told who to arrest. Look at the judiciary. All of them are now remote controlled by Banda. That is were the problem is.

The Police should begin to get serious with their job without being politicised before they become irrelevant to Zambia. At this rate, Zambia might need the military to police the country. Shame on the failures by our Government to be just.

Funny, isn’t it, that Kambwili can be warneed and cautioned for THREATENING violence while MMD thugs who THREATEN to rape an opposition leader are not even summoned for a talking to by that chiKabonde because THREATENING is just that, THREATENING. It can only be a crime in future if they carry out the THREAT.

The fact is this is what happens when you have political leaders with selfish political ambitions forming a pact and instilling hatred in the Zambian people. HH and Sata have been attacking RB ever since he became president. Being in the opposition requires that you provide checks and balances and be the alternative should the current govt fail to deliver.

Instead the opposition has turned into a cabal of political extremists spreading derogatory statements and profanity. All the opposition has turned into a forum of threats and insults more especially in the media from empty impeachment motions to Dora Siliya ultimatums to HH urging donors to with-hold aid which many Zambians still need.

Is there any sanity in the opposition? [tbc

HH has accused the president for “wanting a cut in the ZAMTEL privatization” but when asked to prove it, he failed to do so. We had PF MP’s fighting at parliament some time back. Mr. Chizyuka was almost attacked at a press briefing by suspected PF/UPND cadres. Is that a recipe for peace honestly. How about PF cadres violently disrupting a radio broadcasting in Mazabuka.

The opposition frequently insulting the president and accusing him of corruption without any proof in the media. How can there be peace in the country when the opposition is instilling violence, hatred and anger in the people.

The fact is violence breeds more violence. This Zambia is not Sata or HH. This Zambia is ours and your falsification is tearing it apart. [tbc

It is time we restored sanity in politics more especially from the opposition. Mazoka never used to insult nor make empty accusations and yet he led the the UPND to being the largest opposition party in Zambia. Why then use falsifications and empty accusations as well as insults to gain political mileage? You can still become the biggest opposition by being civil and credible and respectable and not derogatory and falsifier. What sense is in all of this when you are simply tearing the Zambian public apart.

The MMD has shown maturity in the way it has carried itself. They rarely use profanity nor false accusations and debate issues in a civil manner even where they disagree. RB has not called Mpombo any names even though he disagrees on some issues.[tbc

#17 Capitalist, even by your standards this posting is digraceful. How can you honestly seek to justify the rantings of the MMD cadre against Nawakwi by saying it is alright because the opposition have been insulting RB. What Kambwili did was not nearly as depraved as what your friend has been threatening. A bit of honest from Zambians, especially one like you who sounds educated, would be refreshing from time to time. Instead it seems Zambians are wedded to double standards and dishonest in their dealings. It is even impossible to finds a Zambian you can trust in any walk of life.

HH on the other hand has insulted them and Sata has deemed them rebels who are paid by the MMD (without any proof of the accusation BTW). Even RB asked HH to not insult and respect elders. He explained that Sata and he are tribal cousins who will address each other in a questionable manner at times. In one of the by elections they even wished each other good luck.

The fact is MMD nor the President are the problem. The opposition is the problem and they must restore sanity in the political system. This is evident even here on LT where MMD supporters who are practicing their democratic rights to support whoever they wish are called all sorts of names, verbally attacked and even insulted by opposition. Veteran is but an example of a blogger who has gone through the same.

5, 6, 7 – In such matters there has to be a complainant for police to act if they were not at the crime scene themselves. MuviTV lodged a complaint immediately and the police have acted. Now Nawakwi has lodged a complaint and the police have started to act. It is a straight forward matter, sirs. No need for typical PF empty headed rhetoric.

I do not blame the victim at the Chisokone Market who was murdered. I blame the opposition for trying to gain political mileage by politicizing the issue and trying to cause more disturbances by trying to instill more riots which have the potential to get out of control and cause more violence.

Stand: to take a position or place as indicated: to stand aside. To remain firm or steadfast, as in a cause.

So, do you maintain that you take a stance on the issue meaning you don’t know really if to support or condemn?

Mr Chalwe MMD Lusaka Province Youth Chairman should be dealt with by the courts. His other case against “Times Of Zambia” Reporter is before the court and the chap has no regrets as though there are no laws in this country. He deserves to be in remand until his case is disposed off. Threatening to rape Auntie Eddie or any other woman is unheard of. Please cage the guy, he is not the only powwerful cadre once power men like Sadam have been tried and hanged what more with small men like chalwe.

In a democracy? When did Zambia cease being a dictatorship? According to the news on the ground, Zambia is no longer a democracy. Remember the Kabwela case? Remember the FTJ case? Remember the gathering when Banda was kicking out Chibombamilimo and Shakafuswa? Remember the beating of Post Reporter at the airport in the eyes of Banda and Police Chiefs, Remember the threats on Nawakwi? The list is endless and for sure that is democracy in your eyes.

Police open docket Against Nawakwi’s ‘rapists’

The Zambia Police (ZP) in Lusaka have opened a docket against the MMD youths who threatened to gang rape FDD President Edith Nawakwi.

Lusaka Province Commanding Officer Greenwell Nguni confirmed that Nawakwi had lodged in a compliant against the youths and investigations would commence.

And police Spokesperson Bonnie Kapeso says police are studying the FDD President’s statement after which the ‘gang rape king’ Chris Chalwe will be summoned so that a warn and caution statement can be recorded.

Chris Chalwe, 42, MMD provincial youth chairperson of Lusaka’s Kabanana Township is already facing two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Dictatorship: A government controlled by one person or a small group of people. That Mr Capitalist is what I see in MMD’s Banda government. He has taken over the judiciary, legislation and in control of the police. They cannot arrest until told so. They will always arrest the opposition and leave out real dangers like Chalwe (reincarnate of Himler, Mariamungu, Chemical Ali and all other dictators’ henchmen). Failing to condemn his behavior publicly speaks tons on you people that have tried to hide in the Kambwili issue leaving the real criminal walking without a police warn and caution.

According to the allegations in court, on July 29 this year, Chalwe allegedly assaulted David Silwamba, a Post Newspapers reporter, thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

In the second count, he was accused of assaulting Anthony Mulowa, a Times of Zambia senior reporter, thereby, occasioning him actual bodily harm on July 29 this year.

Chalwe was granted bail of K3 million in his own recognisance on condition that he provided two working sureties from recognised institutions.

Doesn’t that sound like they are not doing anything? Chalwe said these to the media. What is there to study? Didn’t they study already at Lilayi Police Training school? There’s nothing to study here. How come they did not study in arrest Kitwe protesters to a killing by MMD/ZANAMA vigilantes? How come they did not study Kambwili case before warn and caution? Why do you think they have to go and ask the president to investigate Kabonde? That my dear is totalitarianism at its best.

So after reading this, your own posting about this Chalwe, are you still holding your belief that he was not going to commit the crime he saw joyfully spoused out publicly and for that matter to the media?

I quote you: “My stance is I do not support nor do I believe he would follow up with his statement (the actual action)”

Don’t you see a criminal mind in this animal called Chalwe that feel embodied by William Banda and Rupiah Banda?

The statement from Mrs Katele seem to be more of person who has morals and is not afraid of her surrounding. The so called first lady (if she is a lady) has not said anything despite going around lying to the world about her fight against domestic violence but fails to condemn Chalwe. Probably she is afraid of the other vigilante RB.

And where is your evidence that the “HE” has taken over the judiciary, legislation and the police. Prove beyond reasonable doubt that they have done so.

“So after reading this, your own posting about this Chalwe, are you still holding your belief that he was not going to commit the crime he saw joyfully spoused out publicly and for that matter to the media?”

Yes I still hold the belief because IMO, I do not think someone can publicly threaten to rape someone and follow up with it.

I forgot. That is what you see. I respect your opinion but without irrefutable evidence to prove that Zambia is becoming a dictatorship, this will surely just remain your opinion which we shall dismiss as mere gossip due to lack of irrefutable evidence.

If Zambia is really becoming a dictatorship, why is the opposition contesting then?

You know what? I think you are a dolt. Your opinion is nothing but an indirect support. As MMD former supporter but have stopped because it is longer MMD but UNIP in disguise, I will tell you that your cadre mentality and Vigilante life has a lot of effect on some of you. If you went around here on this blog, you will find that 99% of all us once supported MMD, but because it lost its principles and started attracting lunatics like Chalwe and his indirect supporters, some of them supporting him here on this blog, we left. Not that there was some option, but principles on principle we couldn’t associate ourselves with rapi5ts that are now in MMD and probably at plot 1. Hence his support and justification of the utterance of his Mariamungu, Himler, Chemical Ali reincarnate.

Nawakwi was threatened with Gang R.A.P.E by MMD thugs. Is that not threateneing (violence against humanity/women)? Kabonde the IG talks on behalf of his boss RB and If Kabonde’s interpretetion that threats do not constitute a crime, then Kambwili is innocent. He must even be rewarded instead. I’m waiting for someone to threaten Gang raping Thandiwe. lets see what RB’s MMD shall do.

Well goodbye. Now can you please stop harassing the current MMD supporters. You have been on a rampage. It is one thing to disagree. Are you having a brain freeze? Stop running around like a headless chicken. I am not here to defend your dolt accusations about having you calling Mpombo names. Probably you did but who cares? About Veteran as Ben Kangwa, that is up to you to believe or not. Living MMD after they payed for my studies is best thing a normal person like me would do. But I will not support them just beacuse they did that for me. I have principles and I will always stick to them. I will never support people like Chalwe you are doing but masking the statement with “I don’t think he was going to it” Saying it is enough for a normal person. No sane person will wait for such action to condemn it. Only MMD paid, and insane minds will fail to condemn such utterance. Oh, Banda did not condemn it, INSANE TOO.

Mr. bitter Kalos2020. I never asked you to justify why you left the MMD. What you do with your life is your business, not mine. Why you continue to harass MMD supporters on LT after leaving is what I find shocking. On a daily basis, you’ll harass bloggers like Veteran, Senior Citizen and myself whenever we make posts. Why do you care anyway? Didn’t you leave? The least you can do is be objective and respectful. Instead you come out rude and vulgar and this is evident from your statement “Are you having a brain freeze? Stop running around like a headless chicken.”

I will never support people like Chalwe you are doing and yet if I was, it would be so easy to just quote where I have done so. You asked me on my stand, and I gave it. You then used a straw-man argument.

If the Zambian tradition is to be followed strictly, the norm should be that if someone insults you, the best is not for you to insult back. Don’t they say to argue with a **** pipo wont notice the difference? It’s a shame we have leaders today who must condone such nonsense. Zambia is such a circus. # 66, Yes I am bitter because Zambia a country I love is about to be turned into Zimbabwe or Rwanda. I am bitter because Banda chooses and picks which cases to prosecute. Yes I am bitter because Zambia has turned into a nation of haves and have nots. Yes I am bitter because corruption is now from state house to a baby sucking breast milk. I am bitter because of people like you who are open like a cup that accepts everything the govt tells them. I am bitter because of the suffering of women and children while Banda is globe trotting instead of solving problems at home. I am bitter because women can be threatened by Chalwe and some people like you support his crazy rants. I am bitter because MMD is now killing youths at Chisokone Market but police arrest protesters instead of the killers.

So, if you are happy about all these I have mentioned you need to visit a psychiatrist. A normal person will be bitter to have the wife of the president is stealing from poor kids as a Ghost Worker. Anyone who supports such a government need to reevaluate their sanity. In fact we want to know how much was involved and when they intend to repay the money. A crime has been committed and for sure the law if it was fair must visit them. Do you need more about why I am bitter? A normal person would not wait for 20 crimes to be committed before they become bitter. Are you waiting for more?
