Renard Signs For Angola

Share

Herve Renard has signed a two-year deal to coach Angola.

Renard was unveiled today in Luanda and will pocket a reported Euro 50,000 a month pay check for the next 24 months.

Renard stepped down as Zambia coach earlier this week after being at the helm of the team since May 2008 and is permanent replacement for former coach Manuel Jose of Portugal who stepped down after the 2010 Africa Cup that Angola also hosted.

The Frenchman’s first big day in the office is expected to be a friendly international away to Mexico on May 13 to be played in Houston, Texas.

  1. It’s a great job for Renard – I wish him well in all his career. He was rarely appreciated in Zambia …

  2. Ha thus why he stayed behind in Angola 2010 afcon games. The many purpose was that he clinches this
deal.Kalu new it all but lied to the nation that Rena has not come with the team on the plane bcoz he wants to watch the remaining games “ubufi”. Anyway we still LOL when Zambia plays at home with Angola.

  3. This is an offer anyone would find hard to turn down. Let us hope he will perform to their expectation.

  4. Renard’s departure is good riddance for Zambian soccer.maybe players like clifford might have a chance impress for the nation

  5. He is definately very happy with his new job.We rarely appreciate rough diamonds until someone else polishes it and what of the insults he was always getting from us(PE teacher, fashion designer etc).ZAMBIA !!! What a country – full of loud mouths.
So we are back to square one- Rebuilding again. One would think this country is cursed. What a shame.
    I WILL MISS U RENARD!!!

  6. We never appreciated the works of Herve Renard and the Post Newspapers led the onslaught. This is what happens when you let a tabloid set the agenda for a country. “You only know the value of a well when water runs dry.” You cannot criticise someone every day and hope that he wont break. No let us reduce these attacks.

  7. Only a typical Zambian would turn down such an offer.
Anyway, we will still be seeing him here especially that he is likely to meet us in cosafa.
Allios Amigo – and enjoy your hard work.

  8. Good. I was tired of the speculations. I wish him well. However, the ppl who got him here still run the show
Zambia’s soccer will remain in limbo as long as Galu is still running the show.

  9. :(( 50 000 Euro per manshi, I didnt know football coaching was tsuch a lucrative JOB. I can coach Zambia for Half price, and take them to SA world cup 2010…despite not qualifying:o:o:o

  10. Dont worry fellow Zambians he has gone for money and not what you were talking about. He will not achieve anything there, he is not a good coach after all. Good riddance for Zambia.

  11. #13 This has nothing to do with kalu pse!!! let kalu lead his life in peace .U pipo want us to go back to the days when bailliffs where always at FAZ taking office furniture and equipment .Lets Move forward. There is no lack camping funds any more, all nation age groups are participating in their tournaments. This used to be a hustled in have forgotten. Most of the loud mouths calling for kalus blood have themselves failed before to the extent of some even resigning and today they want to champion the cause of quality football in Zambia even when their teams have been stuck in the lower divisions for decades.Talk about low standards-my foot.GOD SAVE US FROM THESE LOUD MOUTHS>

  12. #16 u are in a loop u can not see what he did of course because u live a day at a time and i seriously beleive its not your fault and u are not alone .WISH U LUCK

  13. The debate in our country is set by a tabloid which is presided over by a person who hates without no end. The character of the country has been changed and the need for reason has gone out of the window. Rena has gone, I hope the Post can now ask Sata to develop Zambian soccer in 90 days. Sata destroyed all competitors in MMD so that Chiluba could make him successor. When the Post has destroyed every body in Zambian Soccer I hope they will have groomed superman for the job.

  14. :-\”:)>-yesssssssssssssssssss? so good because angola we are so full for ervery think bt not zb
    angola angola angola gooooooooolo gogggggggggggggggggggggggggggooooooooooo,.

  15. It’s nothing shocking – just because ka country katu has never been slapped in the face like this is what makes it news. This stuff happens everywhere even pa ma nchito, you leave your current employer to join another one for better conditions.

Just move on and find a replacement, we’ll meet him kusogolo. Ali mu neighbourhood.

    angola angola angola gooooooooolo gogggggggggggggggggggggggggggooooooooooo,.**==>:/>:)>-)^:)^[-x:-@:))

  17. Lets give the ZANACO coach a try, he’s won the last couple of league titles with both ZANACO and ZESCO

  18. This man should have gone earlier but I thank him for resigning because the Minister said it when they were leaving that it either you bring the trophy or step down before you land – Do you Zambians forget so easily? So tome, though I really NEVER respected his methods and results with the team, I will respect him for his principle to resign instead of being fired which was going to cost us money. I NEVER wanted him to stay and am happy he has gone. But we need someone who will study HOW Chitalu and Alex Chola coached our national team. I have grand ideas on how we can help but oonly IF a man with the right attitude si appointed. But will it happen, NOT with Kalusha as President of FAZ. So we are cursed.

  19. Ok, thats good for him. Let him go where money is than in a country where all the money is spent on RB’s trips…[-([-([-(

  20. :d/:d/:d/ only time will tell.We need to groom our own coaches and expose them after all the biggest achievement in zambia soccer came with local coaches at the helm during the 1988 olympics.Talent is there for us to be the force we used to be !!!!!!

  21. What iam saying is that there is nothing wrong with HR to go were he will get more money, remember Ben Bamfuchile. He also left and got a job in Namibia as a coach for the national team because he was offered more and its normal. With HR who was paid ten times that Ben and Phiri were getting and yet archieved nothing is good riddance. What FAZ should do is to try a local coach and pay him the same amount that was paid to HR. We wanted Zambia to go to the World cup[SA] or win Africa cup and not reaching the 1/4 final only coz we have reached the 1/4 and 1/2 finals so many times before. Zambias performance in Angola was not an archiement at all.I know this guy will not win anything in Angola.

  22. I think he did acheive something. We last reached the finals in 1994 a year after the Garbon crash…We have been eliminated in the knock out stages since 1996.I think reaching the quater finals in this year’s CAN was a major achievement.Zambians never appreciate.we will never develop with this attitude..Takwaba,fyonse fye!!! Economically, politically, socially even sports we have failed..what is it kanshi???

  23. #35, I thought someone once wrote about Zambians’ witchcraft mentality as a killer to development. Do we Zambians forget so easily. Kaya mwebantu muzachinja liti kaya mwee!!!

  24. Renard will not face any competitive action with Angola until the 2012 Nations Cup qualifiers start in September.

Angola are in the same group with Guinea Bissau, Kenya and Uganda.
Smart move as you know that Angola are the favourites in that Group!!

  25. Esther Phiri at least has been winning though some times draw. Please if Kalu continues as FAZ President try the coach for Esther Phiri napapata!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x

  26. Let them give this job to philipo Chimbini. If they have enough money to engange a foreign coach like what history has it,as in us zambians appreciating foreign coaches then Kanda Bongomani should be considered.:)

  27. There is nothing wrong with the former Coach, he did very well for us ,we forget that none of our current crop of players play top flight football in Europe and in competitions like CAN ,they come up against teams with players who play and train with top players at top clubs ,have access to the right equipment ,sports medical experts ,top coaches .in short the other players tend to be more exposed than our own and mostly have superior technical ability .
Our boys have talent alright but they need exposure and we need to get more of them in to top flight football in Europe to benefit from latest football techniques ,then we can make demands .

  28. IT WAS ACTUALLY KALU WHO SORTED THE DEAL FOR HIM WITH ANGOLA LEAVING ZAMBIA COACHLESS. Anyway, goof luck for him, I think he will be more appreciated there not here where the FAZ kangaroo administration of Mr KaBwalia is killing the game.

  29. Thanks to the 6 to 7 reasonable bloggers among so many that are simply shallow. When one says someone did nothing for them/us, does he/she trully have some parameter by which to measure what it is being done/achieved. I fail to understand how it is possible that we cannot look at the game where we outplayed Nigeria for example, contrast that with the garbage we had seen prior to that and say ‘we are making progress’. I agree with the person that called the post a Tabloid for such is the sorrow we wallow in. So deep that we can’t seem to be making any progressive moves while the post insisits on ‘front paging’ squables. Coach did a good job given the circumstances, so much so that someone offered him more. Yet here we are asserting he did nothing and wondering why we are…

  30. Aba ito…? Itoloshi. Aba ichika…,? Ichikalamba. Aba ibo? ibotolo… lol….tukamupo…? Tukakamupisha…..

  31. People on here are so stupid and fickle. Angola hosted the continent`s biggest event. Zambia will never, well not in the next 20 years and not when the country is still being ruled by UNIP.

Who wouldn`t do what Renard? Besides Angola has the infrastructure which you will probably never have despite (Angola) coming from a civil war only yesterday.

Now before someone shouts oil, we were once one of the richest countries in Africa let alone wolrd at some point. Angola was miles away. Yet idio ts are calling him names and blaming Kalu. Managers have quit jobs for sill y things like “they didn`t match my ambitions, poor training facilities” you name it.

Sort yourselves out or it will be another 20 years before you reach the quarters again.

  33. Let the man go. he did all his best under trying conditions. Kalu has no power on the coach we need to have because this is related to how much we can offer. we like living on falsehoods like the Post. Remember ‘a king is never respected in his kingdom’. We are busy crucifying Renard as a physical trainer and Kalu as a selfish administrator’ but others are gaining from our mistakes. Do you think FIFA does not read what Post writes about Kalu? Do tou think Angola Football association does not know Renard’s cv? Right now people are already calling but our hands are tied. Can we afford Leroy, keshi or Pfister? NO. Do we have a local coach with UEFA A coaching licence? No except Kalu and Janza who is employed by FAZ as TD. All the best Renard. And Simataa must not claim responsibility for…

  34. Ala mwebantu!….let HR enjoy the African hospitality. That’s what we are good at, and that’s what attracts tourists to our continent. Until the time we are able to appreciate our own tourism industry, who gives it a middle digit? =))=))

  35. no regrets zambians.there is no starting a afresh no player has died so everything is intact including suporters.please let him go.he will remember zambia he is just amoney maker hence hiding his cv conman pe trainer.to hell

  36. Zambian football troubles have nothing to do with the coaches. The problem is with poor investment in the game. Some of our sports fields look like abandoned sweet potato fields. What can one expect! Next, we are in the habit of criticizing till we break or kill each other. REALLY, why are we addicted to NEGATIVE CRITICISM? (Exactly what I am doing now!) We never let go till we destroy ourselves. HR must go. It is good. Let him rest from all the abuse we gave him despite his good work. Our football troubles were not his creation. Go HR. I wish you well. Some of HR’s critics failed to run our football and resigned and today they want to claim that they know better? What ru bbish! Always criticizing and nothing to show for it. Loud mouths go and try the vacant coaching job now! Its too much
