FINANCE and National Planning Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane has said he is impressed with the development projects Government is undertaking in North-Western Province.

And MMD national chairperson Michael Mabenga has expressed satisfaction at the overwhelming support the ruling party is receiving in Milanzi ahead of the April 29 by-election.

Dr Musokotwane said while the opposition parties were criticising the Government, the Zambian people were happy with the projects being undertaken.

He said yesterday that the Ministry of Finance had intensified the monitoring of Government projects to ensure funds were used prudently.

The minister, who is currently touring projects in North-Western Province said he was interested in seeing how the projects were developing.

The minister was inspecting development projects in Zambezi, Kabompo, Kasempa, and Mufumbwe in North-Western Province.

And Mr Mabenga, who addressed a rally in Dole Ward in Milanzi Constituency on Sunday, together with MMD campaign manager, Eustarckio Kazonga said the party was receiving massive support in the area.

He expressed confidence that the ruling party would retain the seat with a landslide victory.

  1. Musokotwane be careful of what you say, What is wrong with the opposition pointing out the shortcomings of your administration? Don’t reduce yourself to a mere loyal dog like Mangani. What projects are talking about?

  2. Speaking for Mwinilunga, that border town, nothing will ever impress people than having the district connected to the electricity national grip. So far this is a pipe dream under this MMD govt. There are Chinese who are prospecting for copper and are saying they will start mining, perhaps these would help bring that needed electricity to my town. Mwinilunga, barely two weeks pass without the zesco diesel generator breaking down for some time. People in Mwinilunga will also be happy is we have additional three to four high schools and three to four hospitals mwinilunga has only Mwinilunga High School and Lunga Day School, which are inadequate considering the pupil population. The road to Mwinilunga too is destroyed. There are sections that are badly destroyed and govt should work on them

  3. There is now talk of the Mwinilunga Ijimbi road, an international road connecting Zambia to Angola, being worked on. May be this could be RB’s legacy but I doubt his government’s capability. Examples abound of failure to implement critical projects. The Pedicle road is one such project. People of Luapula have to suffer unnecessarily long courses to get to their relatives on the CB. Trade between Zambia and Angola is increasing. People will also be impressed if they get real support for agriculture development 9support to pineapple and groundnut farmers). This will be highly appreciated because the area has the greatest potential for pineapple growing.

  4. The Munfumbwe by-election is bringing these guys to NWP. Once the election is over, then they disappear again. We wish the Mutanda-Chavuma road would be completed before the elections. What type of govt is this which only shows its face and pretend that it is working for the people when there are elections? Did it need RB to castigate his ministers in public for them to get out of their confort zones?
