Hichilema and Sata at loggerheads, claims George Kunda

Time Posted: April 18, 2010 12:58 pm

Vice President George Kunda

VICE-President George Kunda says there is a rift between Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata and his United Party for National Development (UPND) counterpart Hakainde Hichilema.

Mr Kunda charged the two leaders, whose parties have formed a political alliance, have not been in talking terms of late.

He said the rift between the two leaders has been evidenced by Mr Hichilema’s silence whenever his co-leader in the pact has come under attack.

Mr Kunda said this at Kinkonge Basic School in Mufumbwe where he is drumming up support for MMD candidate Mulondwe Muzungu in the Mufumbwe parliamentary by-election slated for April 29.

He said there has never been a time that Mr Hichilema, UPND officials and Members of Parliament have come to Mr Sata’s rescue whenever he has had issues to explain. Mr Kunda said Mr Sata and his party officials, too, have never defended Mr Hichilema.

“We have never heard Mr Hichilema and his MPs defend Mr Sata. In fact they feel happy and they even send us text messages encouraging us to continue exposing Mr Sata’s weaknesses,” Mr Kunda said.

The Vice-President, who is also MMD’s national trustee, said the two pact leaders have different agendas and wondered how they would govern the country if elected into office.

“We have never heard Mr Hichilema and his MPs defend Mr Sata. In fact they feel happy and they even send us text messages encouraging us to continue exposing Mr Sata’s weaknesses,” Mr Kunda said.

He encouraged the people of Mufumbwe constituency to vote for the MMD candidate, saying it is the only party that has a national character.

Mr Kunda said the MMD has nominated MPs from Southern Province where it did not win any parliamentary seats so that it could have a national representation in Cabinet.

He said the MMD is running a Government that believes in peace and tranquility and that the party has a programme for the nation.

Mr Kunda is accompanied by ministers of Works and Supply Mike Mulongoti, Energy and Water Development Kenneth Konga, Sports, Youth and Child Development Kenneth Chipungu, Presidential Affairs Ronald Mukuma and Livestock and Fisheries Development Deputy Minister Albert Mulonga.

Tell us if there has been any solidarity if not always growing conflictual public positions on any contentious issue between the two promiscuous moral harzards.Besides that His Honor VP Kunda is the custodian of tools of power that has a heavy hand in real time results of the AA Cycle. You think he could be blind like Sata, Heahi Heaahi and you handcapped Kaponyas who keep hallucinating on who SC, Mr.Capitalist, Veteran, MMD Chief Bootlicker, The Saint, Patriot and all selfless patriots here? While you struggle with blanks, VP would not take a day to know. The PACT is nothing but a circus club of the naked.

It seems your campaign is only based on the weakness of your opponents (slander) we don’t here anything about your strengths. So we can only assume that you don’t have anything to stand on yourself (MMD) or else we would hear about it. Please do your own home work Mudala instead of hearsay

That is called strategy. Showing that the “Pact” is disorganized is basically telling the electorate to question the wisdom of casting a vote for them. He is not a “pact” spokesman. He is just showing you that your marriage of convenience is a sham. Show that this is not the case – without insults!

The only strategy that will work is Rigging, since MMD’s only strategy is focusing on the opposition… ( If we can **** the public to think the is a big rift then it is easier to rigg ) We are not stupid… increasing government borrowing my look great in the short term but all you are doing is creating a bubble. Yes borrowing billions from china is great but with no payback strategy its is just a front or indirectly selling country… you are always at the mercy of your debtors.

I dont live in Zambia but am able to tell that this is nonsense. Just a week ago Sata and Hakainde were pictured together conferring each other during the funeral of Dr Gavin Silwamba. Zambians you should learn to read and get to different cheap politics and issues. We dont have such kind of politics here in Canada. No wonder am happy that I dont live in that backward nation with cheap politicians. No one is talking about issues which put food on the plates. I am so happy that I have brought all my family members here so that they are not part of that stupidity going on.

GK is targetting that minority group which had faith in the pact. He is only repeating what Trevor Simumba said a few weeks ago. By so doing, he is building support for MMD because now that the pact has failed due to greed, the MMD is the logical choice. This is his strategy to woo these minority votes the MMD way. Otherwise, there is nothing new that GK has said here. Everybody can clearly see that UPND are at loggerhead with PF because the time has come to pick a presidential candidate for this pact. We all knew that when the time came, these guys greed would derail progress. It is only logical that HH becomes the candidate because he qualifies, is young and educated. Sata does not have a degree and this is no secret!

#3 Veteran and the rest of you in MMD including G. Kunda, you surprise me. When RB is “attacked” you complain and talk about how your president is attacked and the MMD never attacks anyone but practices issue based politics. Today your Goerge Kunda is indirectly admitting that Sata is attacked and HH doesnt defend him. So guys, which is which. Am confused because, if really Sata is attacked, then whose attacks him? isnt it the MMD governement? Please fill me in on this, incase am getting this all wrong. Stop contradicting yourself to win the coming elections, you will continue loosing votes rather than gaining votes, not everyone who votes in Zambia votes based on how much chibuku they get. I don’t like George but if there is one man who knows the strategy, it’s him. He knows that to weaken the pact, you have to keep hammering at their weak points – which is exactly what he’s doing. And judging by the comments from bloggers, it is having the intended effects. I think bloggers are generally intelligent people and if they can be affected like this, what more Joe Public.

How does a learned man like MP G Kunda expect the mighty UPND Group to defend Mr Sata MC of the PF when PF has a spokesperson who should deal with Mr Sata MC’s problems? Why in all fairness should UPND members start defending what they do not know. Let us be serious MMD and appreciate the HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT you have pushed the opposition to be working in.
