PF vows to solve fuel crisis

Share

PF Leader Michael Sata (left)

The Patriotic Front says once it is voted into power it will solve the fuel crisis within the first 90 days of its rule.
Patriotic Front Leader Micheal Sata says the Party will carry out explorations around the country to excavate fuel.

Mr. Sata said it is saddening that even after government proved that some areas like Northwestern Province have oil deposits, it is reluctant to carry out serious explorations. He said the country is endowed with natural resources that government can utilize to improve the lives of Zambians.

Mr Sata said he does not understand why government is adamant about surveying the amount of oil reserves that it has.

He was speaking at a news conference organized by the Press Freedom Committee of The Post in Lusaka last evening.

Meanwhile, commotion broke at the conference when a guest asked if Mr. Sata was fit to stand as President in the 2011 elections during a question and answer session.

The man was almost manhandled by the PF cadres and was rescued by the security personnel at the Hotel.

  1. Yaba, imwe Bantu, Imwe, =)). It is Monday please don’t crack my ribs. This commedy is just amazing. The PF has come up with another 90 miracle. In 90 days carrying out oil exploration in North Western Province, find oil, build infrastructure, then extract it and pump it to refineries and BANG!! fuel problems solved in 90 days . This surely is another miracle from PF leader =)) =)) =)) =)) =))

And PF cadres why did you manhandle a VOTER who asked a simple and honest question?

  2. By the way it took Ghana over 5 years to just extract the oil they discovered and even in Iraq just to restart the closed/neglected oil wells did not take place within 90 days and this Kaponya comes and say he can explore oil , find it and extract it within 90 days!!!!. Or are these the details of the famous 90 days economic miracle preached about in PF circles? This is comedy at its best. Doesn’t this man have access to expert advise or a think tank he can use?

  3. Typical PF. I feel for the man who was manhandled for just expressing his democratic opinion and with such intolerance,Iam afraid PF cant get my vote.

  4. MMD Bootlicker – how daft are you?

I have gone through the article about 6 times just to be sure. Where does it say “In 90 days carrying out oil exploration in North Western Province, find oil, build infrastructure, then extract it and pump it to refineries and BANG!! fuel problems solved in 90 days”?

What president Sata is saying is that the crisis will be resolved. There are many ways to resolve the crisis. The explorations are part of the long term plan but must be started ASAP.

Unless you a quoting another news item, please tell us where we can find it, otherwise keep exposing how dull a human being like yourself can be by trying to put word in a wise mans mouth. But the whole world of bloggers can see you are making thing up.

  7. # 2, two statements have been combined here. number 1 Within 90 days PF will sort out the fuel crisis, number 2 PF will explore for fuel, it does not say that will be done in 90 days

  8. iwe # 2, you are a f.o.ol. It depends on how pure the oil is. In Nicaragua, crude oil is almost diesel already. Go pact go.

  9. wether thez mmd foolz lyk it or nt the PACT is forming government next year!!

  10. Ha ha ..PF cadres you now what to justify the myopic statement your leader made. I bet you have a 100 spin doctors. Ask those who attended the presentation and get the low down and you will be shocked. Ba Mwila, so you are going to find diesel ready oil in Zed Ka? You guys sare my ribs please, its monday morning and while you are at it calling me names can you answer my last question

And PF cadres why did you manhandle a VOTER who asked a simple and honest question? They even caused commotion

  11. Note that Mr. Sata said The Patrioric Front will solve the fuel crisis and not The PACT. Makes one wonder where the pact is going.

I however feel sorry for the man who was abused by PF thuggery for asking a simple question. This also happens on this blog where anyone who disagrees with the PF is insulted and harassed. Isn’t this the same party where two of their MP’s where fighting at parliament. Makes one wonder.

Let us also not forget the other 90 day fuel miracle to add to his 90 day economic miracle. Within 90 days carrying out exploration, building infrastructure to pump and distributing it? Within 90 days? really?

  12. 10 MMD Chief Bootlicker,

the bare mention of anyone even in MMD opposing RB is treasonable. Look at Magande and Mpombo. This person who asked Sata the question was placed there by MMD to create confusion at the meeting.
He is a well known OP guy from Chilenje south

  13. # 10 why did an MMD supporter drive his car into a crowd who were celebrating victory in mufumbwe? its just unfortunate that such things are happening , we are so backwards when it comes to politics. By the way boss, # 6 asked you where in the statement it says in 90 days oil will be explored, build infrastructure etc.? or were you just ahead of your self fault finding without reading the article in its entirety?

  14. Bootlicker

I have just spoken to his collegue, his name is Andrew Kasonde, usually found around those drnking places in Chilenje south. He is an overzealous OP officer. Maybe the next Xavier Chungu

  15. #6Moono says- I totaly agree with you.Just as KK made people that the transport crisis in Zambia was made by enemies of Unip, these MMD chaps dont see that a solution to the fuel crisis is just under their noses. The crisis is caused by the way procurement and source arrangements are made. It is like this boy from the village who could not make his bed at Evelyn College. When asked why he was no making his bed he said he did not know how to do it since where he came from he was sleeping on the floor. But all he needed was to see what his friends were doing and ask questions- our neighbours are doing better so why dont we ask them how they are managing

  16. I wonder why PF supporters’ language is full of terms like fool, stupid. Does this mean frustration? However, King Cobra is extra practical just like the late Chakomboka. He can use hoes and horse pipes to dig oil. In 90 days drums will be full and the economy will move-on. By the way he is old enough to recall and revive Iron Age technologies.

  17. These fronts are not only welcome, but signs of a healthy growing democracy. At all cost they must be embraced, promoted with space and increasingly expected. The memorandum that UPND and PF would and should not criticize each other as a couple is dictatorial and anti thesis to democratic norms. Give them space to discover themselves that actually the so call PACT is a myth of overboard utopia. It’s an illicit affair driven by infatuation other than binding love and mutual respect.

  18. The question I ask my self whenever this man says something is that What are people professionals for that matter doing in PF? People like Wynter, Guy, and others. What is PF policy or vision on energy with regards to fuel? What about mines and mineral development? I am made to believe that this man’s dictatorship traits wont disappear and it is coz of this that professionals are always embarrassed and labour to explain bashikulu’s myopic understanding of things. honestly thers should be chemical, metallurgical, mining, mechanical, pentrochemical, surveying engineers etc whom this man should consult before his Zambia comedy xreme goes live! Anyway in PF professionals cant speak out or they will be manhandled like the poor Zambian who asked a question on his health!

  19. Why cant the govt come up with a commprehesive statement concerning the Crude Oil obtaining in Angola,am aware that a statement was once issued by the Minister Koanga as regards the complexities of Indeni Machinary to process the Angola crude oil, therefore what is the govt doing.since alot of transportation costs can be cut if Angola oil can take first priority
    # 12 plse your comments

  20. If all wishes were horses, this man(SATA) always and is pipedream statements. He wants to take every loop hole to gain political mileage.Take a backyard role,we are sick and tired of your behaviour.

  21. # 22 i think you have stayed too long out of Africa, Africa is run without policies, look at MMD they dont have a national policy on things you ve talked about. They just run the country on whatever happens basis. The only consolation with Sata is he makes things work he outs things in practise and thats what we need then we should have another leader to put systems in place to support what Sata will put in motion

  22. hhhhmmmm Sata is embarassing the nation. How dare LT puts this article on the net even? Am really embarassed to have a potential president of my country spin 90 days miracles like this. If Sata is elected, am sure he will claim that he was misquoted….that he said 90 YEARS and not DAYS!

Am not an MMD cadre but this 90 days bla bla bla is just crap! If this the methodology the old man has, then chashupa!

  23. #22 ZIONEKE….you have put it very well. You just wonder at times how the PF govt will be run. I can see more money being PRINTED to meet the budget requirements of the 90 days miracles.

The next is the ‘more money in your pocket’….does anyone ask what the value of that money will be. At some point Zimbambweans and ‘Zairians’ had more money in their pockets but then what was the value?

Am better off earning Euro 5000 than ZMK 1 Million!

  24. MMD cadres.
Levy moaned on about oil exploration.
That was 5 years ago and still nothing has been achieved by an MMD government to fix a known problem from 5 YEARS ago.

Bootlicker your party is a failure for not EXPLOITING (MMD favourite word like RAPING) the oil reserves in Zambia.
Let someone else get it moved on for the future.
    MMD have failed.

  25. Zambian roads should have signs every 500 metres.

“MADE IN CHINA” so that everyone is aware of its poor quality.

  26. Guyz for you who a critisizing SATA’s 90 days,You all know this LT as MMD and what ever they write about Sata nimatuvi. Why don’t you get it in ypur mind that this might have been misquoted to what he exactly said as to make him sound chipuba, and why do you think LT wrote this whats the catch

  27. Why is it that most stories on LT have their source as QFM. Does LT not have its own journalists. No wonder most stories are not reported accurately. They are from a third party. I doubt if Sata said in 90 days he will extract oil and process it. I wonder if the post has carried a similar article since it was at its function that this speech was made

  28. Walasa Ibange thats what i was trying to say man. If post hosted the event why should be QFM be the source and why post hasn’t written a similar article. We shouldn’t be fooled LT is MMD driven what ever they write is not genuine,no source you can reffer to, Don’t you have jonalists you Bastards.Bafikala you are only here to spread propaganda for you own good.Sata and Hakainde a poeple driven and they really reachout to everyone,MMD is here to Steal Votes and reward themselves & thier cadres with jobs and leave a multitude of Zambians sufferring while these Dora Siliyas are busy taking there kids and relatives to England for furthure educations she she is there as minister of education, which she her self can not educate her kid with.Bana bambwa

  29. SATANA iwe! whats so special about 90 days, may you will only rule for 90 days before you die.God forbid that you should ever rule.Go to hell with your cheap lies.I am almost vomiting with your lies.Finished lunatic you.

  30. # 37 Manyozo Phiri If you are not happy with LT no one is stopping you from reading your POST SHINDA PEPA ,am sure you know that LT helped you from being robbed by Fred Mmeembe of your small dollars they made him stop charging you for reading his Demonic articles online.VIVA LT! VIVA!

  31. # 38 you seriously have a lack of respect for elders issues. Ba Sata ni ba wiso, try and have some respect. just because you live in Australia dont mean no muchinshi kuposa.

  32. Iwe #40 Sata can t be our Father. He sleeps with two biological sisters and u think he qualifies to be my sister???!!! what foolishness is that?
    He is another chamachakomboka period!!!!!!!

  33. # 41 you too you suffer from lack of respect for elders issues. In an African setting you dont question publicly your father’s sexual conduct. its not your space. just respect him as your elder period. Dont behave differently just because you are in south africa. the same for # 38 just because he lives in a Kangaroo country he must no behave like one.

  34. This reminds of the episode where Mugabe was fooled by a ng’anga that oil was coming out of stones in the sacred hills in Zimbabwe. This man would be an embarrasment to the country but if people vote for him (God forbid), then they deserve what they get.

  35. Stupid *****. Chakomboka used to say the same about the hills and copper. You are a real jocker Sata. Quit misleading people and go home. Sit yourself down and have a good word with yourself son. Epo mpelele

  36. You can tell from the number of comments on this article that the PF die-hards are embarassed and have kept away. 90 DAYS! My arse!.Why cant this man do himself and all of us a favour and just disappear? He is not going to be the next president of Zambia. Period. Just ask Maestro He…., even if he is chosen by the pact to stand on their ticket, NW, W, S, provinces wont vote for him. He is just embarassing himself and wasting his time. He would be better off just finding other sets of sisters for him to enjoy himself with.

  37. #43 Zombe- You think its impossible to end this fuel crisis? Sata is not going to dig wells etc. All he needs to do stop the rotten thing that surround the procurement of fuel.FTJ stopped smuggling without using soldiers along our borders. He also improved the transport system without buying more buses for UBZ. In cas you you dont, procuring fuel is as lucrative as dealing in drugs. People benifit a lot at the expense of the well being of Zambians at large.

  38. #46 We would all like to solve the problems that the country faces but we also have to be realistic and come up with credible plans. The govt is actually looking at the exploration of possible oil fields around the country as we speak. These things take time. A blogger above has given the example of Ghana. So what we want is a leader who is able to make policies that are achievable and not one who is always playing to the gallery of the naive.

  39. #47 Zombe – I dont know how old you are but this GRZ and the Unip one have talking about for longer than the second advent. If you got my point ypu notice that, I did not talk about exploration, I talked about an immediate solution. You ca see that even when we have money we cannot sort out our problems such as improving our roads. The problem you have you Zambians is you are ready to swalow what ever MMD tells you. The fuel crisis here is man made because of the greed in MMD. Even mealie meal which is made here is in perpetual shortage. Last month your president was here on CB where he was telling the nation that hospitals were full of drugs and MMD applauded him. Mean while people at KCH who were to listening the address and wondered which hospital MMD/RB were talking about.

  40. So, did he answer the question about fitness (MOT here in UK ….lol) or he was saved by the ‘commotion’?

  41. Excavate……..gives you and me some insight on how empty and confused Mr Sata’s plans are. very telltale….

  42. In Luapula during the 2008 polls Sata promised residents there that once voted into power he was going to buy tractors them and begged the people there not to ask him where he would get money from. To the rest of Zambia he promised a miracle of reconstructing the economy in the famous or is it infamous 90 days? Now he wakes up and says he would end the fuel crisis in 90 days. I am sure asking his wives and girl friends about how he used to present his manifestos we would learn that he was promising them children in 90 days. Intelligent zambians cannot buy that. Most people I have met who support such empty talk are the gullible type and actual fools.

  43. I think he just works in base 90. erection 90 secs, inchito 90 minutes, pace maker battery changes 90hrs, spacing between children 90 days, political plans 90 days etc

  44. Levy legacy and ideas died with him and those who can make them live the legacy are not president, some though could be in leadership but don’t have the power over the presidency.
There is more to the story of the man who was manhandled…LT tell the whole truth not half truth…because the story some how begs the question…and also things like what happened after security helped him, was his question answered. and why isn’t the story in the Post, it would have been there…LT you are giving us something leaving out the actual context of the situation.

  45. Sata’s response to HH’s declaration:

Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata says Zambians should understand that the PF and UPND are different parties with just a working relationship.

Sata was quoted by a local radio, HOT FM, saying that he has no problem with UPND president Hakainde Hichilema declaring himself the best candidate for 2011.

He said as leader of the other party, Hichilema is at libertyto camapign for himself.

Sata said it is good that Hichilema has declared himself now instead of doing so at the last minutte.

Sata said that he has no quarel with that but wondered if that is the reality on the ground.

He was reacting to a news article published in the Times of Zambia on Monday where Hichilema is quoted saying he is the better candidate for 2011.

  46. Sata said that he has no quarel with that but wondered if that is the reality on the ground”.

Now are these the words that can be exchanged between two people working together. What is very interesting is the tone with which comrade Sata from the liberation struggle (although he was on the other side wiping us), can utilise when an opponent of the calibre of Hakainde challenges him. I tend to believe Chiluba when he told us that Sata cries when challenged. He has for many weeks declared his candidacy, never have we heard HH belittle Sata’s declaration in the manner that Sata has done to his colleague. Sata thought he had the presidency in the bag, I wonder what the Americans told Hakainde, he has come back with a vengeance, watch out Cobra, you are about to be terminated for good.

  47. What do u expect from Sata? He says anything that crosses his big empty head without reasoning. And why didn’t he and FTJ to do the 90 day exploration wen they were in power?

  48. You fool, it is not in The Post because they are embarrased to put it there! Don’t you know they are his campaingn managers?

  49. #undit74

The little I have heard about Angola oil is that our INDENI has not been configured to refine the kind of oil which is mined in Angola. Some say it has too much sulphur, others say other things. So, you may even ask what kind of researchers there are at INDENI (if at all there are some) who cannot innovate so that we could be using oil from Angola. By the way, it may even turn out that if indeed we do have oil, it could be of the similar properties as that found in Angola. Just an observation, anyway.

  50. #53, PF CADRE, I have never read anything as funny as your post at 53. You have made my day and possibly my year. Your post is the assuarance I needed that we Zambians can still be funny and can laugh at ourselves. Base 90. You must be joking, the man can not even count in base 10. Some body should introduce him to the natural log. He will then give up politics and the country will be safe.

  51. #60, What is wrong is that the INDENI refinery does not include a cracker unit to separate crude into its components. The cracker plant is very expensive, that is why it was omitted when the indeni refinery was constructed by Zambia and ENI of Italy in the 70s. Indeni only takes what is called a co-mingled cocktail and not crude oil. As you probably know refineries are very expensive and that is why countries like Nigeria still have shortages of fuel despite having such rich deposits of light crude.

  52. # 63 nothing should be expensive for a nation if a project will save the nation monies in the future. If Govt has an ambitious plan to acquire that equipment they can just by collecting a small token from Zambians and companies investing in the country. And use that money for the specific intention. I dont think Zambia can fail to raise any amount if Govt is commited

  53. ONly the laggards dont understand the social facts.Spencer a sociologist said society grows is not stagnant.Politics is one of the social instituitons which need to be properly defined.Mr Sata does not belong to the young generation which do not understand the meaning of independence but have studied politics and very much enlightened. So HH,CM,FM these shud be the type of leadership zambia wants.Sata forget about being a presedent just go for an elderly position of the speaker.

  54. 63 Recycled Politician

With due respect I agree that refineries are expensive to set up. However, I would be in disagreement if we have to measure our needs based on whether Nigeria does or does not have a refinery even when it has oil reserves. So, should we also opt to have no appropriate refinery even when we find that we have oil reserves in our soils? How then shall we even have a reduced cost of fuel? I think the issue of refineries being expensive is relative depending on what you factor in as costs.

  55. Iyi 90 days kwati cifwiti! Everything will be done 90 in days. Ba Sata what are the constituents of your overall energy policy that will see the problem resolved in 90 days? So ba Sata “What is the how?” The question is not “how long will it take?” If you insist on saying 90 days; you will soon be undermined by the Not Yet Formed political Party. The Not Yet Formed Party will promise that they will build 1 million houses in 60 days; solve the energy crisis in 60 days, builld roads in 60 days! What then are you going to say then Mr Sata if you are outflanked?

  56. thats very true.we need policy oriented visionary compaign statements.the quetion should just be how do you plan to achieve that Mr senator?
