CCZ loses confidence in govt’s fight against corruption

Share

The Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) has passed a vote of no confidence in Government’s commitment to fight Corruption.

CCZ president Reverend Rueben Mwale observed that government’s fight against corruption has become a problem.

He said the corruption taking place in the country would dent Zambia’s image if government fails to intensify the fight
Rev Mwale said government should ensures that people engaged in corruption are made to face the law than fighting corruption through mere lip service.

He said it is surprising that even with rampant revelations of corruption cases there seems to be no political will to fight it.

Reverend Mwale has since recommended that government should seriously considers including evils of corruption studies in the school curriculum so as to instill hope of having a corrupt free society in the upcoming young generations.

He said if the young generation is taught on the evils of corruption there wouldl be hope of getting rid of the culture of corruption in Zambia.

  1. Its all Chiluba’s fault. He stopped his friends from taking over from and brought us a sleeping man who in turn brought us a cowboy farmer who in turn has brought a sick lawyer

  2. The only action this MMD-let government has taken is to extend the corruption by weakening the law (ACC act) so that its easy for they can complete the plan to make Zambia a heaven for the corrupt. MMD corruption knows no bounds.

The entire world needs to know how they are threatening anyone and everyone who dares to criticize the government. This government is the worst in Zambia’s history.

  3. # 2, I agree with you. This Government is the worst this Country has ever seen. The leaders are pathetic to say the least. As for the vice, he is a big disapointment, as a lawyer, an educated man, a learned man to conduct himself in the manner he has, its a shame. George has lied, misapplied the law, misrepresented issues, misguided RB from the legal point of view among others. On moral grounds he should have steped down to save his face. Shame on him

  4. Zambia needs more such voices on RB’s failure to fight corruption. Illegal acquisition of land, non-completion of roads are just 2 areas where RB has been very corrupt and failed to deal with the vice. Please RB stop illegal land acquisition by your cadres and remove them from land they have occupied illegally. And please RB complete all the roads you have started by paying contractors their money. Please RB show some political will and rule of law – maintain law and order in Zambia!

  5. Funny, I have just been reading over 40 praises for RB for the eight Brazilian signed agreements in the other blog. We should not forget easily for one single deed and we jumping around. THese are thieves and protectors of thieves

  6. This is what poverty can do to people. Few signed documents and everyone has already forgotten how the MMD government keep making the life of Zambians even poor. If we forget easily we will keep making mistakes and vote back these thieve and thief protectors into power. Despite all this talk, the Kwacha stands at k5000, Salary taxes stand at 35%, roads are in bad shape, the floods are still not addressed until it rains again, measles vaccines have run out, a very high cost of leaving, civil servant salaries are late, high corruption. Is anyone addressing these issues?
Zambians for how long are we going to be blinded?

  7. KK is the only one I can remember – despite his many faults – that stemmed graft. No one was brave enough to be corrupt. Yes, I agree – it’s all our fault for voting in Kafupi. Now, look at the chain reaction – a rotten head spoiling the entire fish.

  8. @5 and 6 -KCI:

Its called giving praise where its due. RB has done two praiseworthy things the past few days: he apologized to HH and facilitated the signing of those agreements with the Brazilians. Although we are yet to see the details, we know at least that the Brazilian great leader has a pro-poor, democratic socialist ideology and is determined to strengthen South-South relations to counter the greed from the North. We are sure these are not like the agreements made with the “North” – under the auspices of the nefarious duo IMF/World Bank – that ensure that Zambia is repeatedly “raped” economically. Those unpatriotic deals are forged in the very pit of Hell and we will condemn them unreservedly.

  9. This MMD thug – gonvt is ever corrupt. Now they want even to change the anti coruption law so as to allow more corruption. What a gonvt we have in Zambia. Truely it is the worst gonvt Zambia has ever had.
