Milingo to be installed as patriarch

Former Lusaka Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo

Former Lusaka Catholic Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo will this weekend be installed as a patriarch of Africa in charge of the southern African region.

The outspoken cleric will be installed as the third patriarch of Africa on Sunday at Barlastone Park School near Twikatane Farms in Lusaka by several church denominations.

Archbishop Milingo told the Times in Lusaka that the ceremony would follow a similar one held in Cameroun which was organised by five churches.

He said the gathering would be held under the auspices of the Ecumenical Catholic Apostolic Church of Peace and would be witnessed by several married bishops.

Archbishop Milingo said he would be installed as a patriarch of Africa in charge of southern Africa which includes Cameroun, Congo Brazzaville and all the other countries in the neighbourhood.

He said he was humbled to be honoured and expressed confidence that he would competently represent the churches that had recognised his contributions to humanity.

Among the churches which would be represented are the Old Catholic Church, Orthodox, Liberal Catholic of Spain, Charismatic Church of Brazil, Independent Catholic and others from the United States of America and other parts of the world.

“Secondly, they look at me and feel that using my spiritual experience I have greatly contributed to the Church unity. They have seen how I have silently suffered many injustices,” Archbishop Milingo said.[/pullquote]

Founder of Imani Temple of America, Augustus Stallings is among the clerics expected from the US.

Archbishop Stallings is a former Jesuit bishop in the Roman Catholic Church.

“My installation has two meanings: The first one is that the African Church leaders think I have reached the age to be an elder of bishops.

“Secondly, they look at me and feel that using my spiritual experience I have greatly contributed to the Church unity. They have seen how I have silently suffered many injustices,” Archbishop Milingo said.

Archbishop Milingo, who stunned the world when in 2001, while serving as a Roman Catholic archbishop married Maria Sung, said most of the churches involved followed almost all the Roman Catholic Church doctrines and conducted mass in a similar fashion.

He said the ceremony on August 15 would start with a traditional prayer service from a Ngoni traditional group and would be followed by a Catholic mass.

Africa currently has two such patriarchs in Alexandria, Egypt, and in Ethiopia, and Archbishop Milingo said his installation would mark a milestone for southern Africa.

  1. Why does Milingo continue shifting goal posts? In an interview with ZNBC two years ago, he insisted that he is still a Catholic. Previously, he had been a Moonist and married in that Church. Today, different churches want to make him a patriarch. Who just is Milingo?

  2. I agree with No. 2. This man anachibanda or mashabe. He seems not to understand himself after the fall when the devil won a share of his life. He has allowed the devil to take over his life. And by the way what is this catholic-catholic thing he keeps on referring to. There is only one Catholic Church. BaMdala don’t confuse the people with your manners-assuming there some that have remained. This kind of nyele ya mbuzi as No 1 puts it will make these guys pay back one day. Kufuna chabe kunyenga ndiye nchito sure.

  3. It seems 4 Millingo its forward ever & backward never. The catholic tried 2 bring him down with their unfair treatment as they cud not understand how he performed miracles when even the pope himself failed to do so. But it seems they have even promoted him even the more as evidenced by his more works now. Anyway its better he married than some priests & bishops who survive through “Ponyo Ponyo.”

  4. I really feel sorry for the old man at his age sure spoiling his name like that. The most decent thing to do was to resign as a bishop and priest from the catholic church and then marry and start your own private life or church. So many priests have resigned and gotten marries, infact some of them still remain devout priests. A good example is Fr. Lupinda from Ndola diocesse.

  5. i see it will be the gathering of the failures…..all of them the tittle starts with FORMER …..anyway gud luck mwema failures!!!!

  6. at no.5.u can’t say some priest and bishops survive through Ponyo Ponyo do u hv any evidence?do not show ur ignorance.if really milingo wanted to marry why did he do when he was young but married when even he was old?the marrying of mr miling was not of the result of wanting to practice sex but of bringing confusion in the church.

  7. I feel pity for my Grandfather,he seems to be losing his memory fast.Jesus prayed that all people of this world should be one just like Jesus, the Holy Spirit and God the Father are One.Now,where is Mr.Milingo taking us by these splitts?.

  8. What the article didn’t say is that the person representing the US Augustus Stallings is an elite member of the Unification Church as well. This has been nothing more than a cover for Rev Moon.

  9. Archbishop Milingo understands spiritual matters more than all here who are judging him and putting him down.

  10. He is married by Rev. Moon, allows himself to be talked into leaving his wife by Vatican ‘advisors’, goes back to her, and then leaves the church, is excommunicated for not playing a good game of clerical ball, and a group of churches think he’s a “spiritual leader”?

Some people are just at the lower end of the bell curve, both intellectually and spiritually. They will have their ears tickled – what a high price they’ll pay for the pleasure. As a priest, he doesn’t even have the qualifications described in Scripture.

  11. At some point you have to blame all this on age. But never mind, he will next become an Episcopal. I think that is one denomination he has tasted. Let’s pray for this priest. He is completely in crisis.

  12. What a looser! You want to leave the Church founded by Christ, and get married, fine, but don’t play dress-up. He has become a wolf in sheep clothing. Very sad and very disturbing. I pray he sees the light before his finds the grave!

  13. I have been praying for this man for a long time, and will continue, as the Lord has asked. God must have had a great plan for him, but he perverted himself and what he stood for. He may have been affected by the devil when he was delivering many people in Africa from demonic spirits. Priests (and others) must be very careful, because some of those lying, perverse spirits will affect good priests negatively. I believe he lost his way, and he is still lost, that’s why so many changes. Let’s pray for all our priests and bishops, for they are truly hunted by and attacked by satan and his messengers because they are the ones who can consecrate and Jesus becomes truly present, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, and there is nothing that makes the devil tremble more than that!

  14. I feel a great pain and sorrow for this former catholic bishop …O.K.he could´nt keep celibacy, all that he had to do renounce to priesthood and marry. It´s a pity to have the hunger of megalomany, look where he has been driven…I´ll pray for him to obtain his repentance before staying in front of Jesus whom he has betrayed.I myself am an Ex. I obtained dispensation …but never renounced to my credo and married in church and blessed with 5 Children.I am catholic till the end of my life and will die as catholic by the grace of beloved Jesus and the intercession of our Lady Mary ,my mother .

  15. To all those who readily judge others:
” Judge not and you will not be judged”
“with the same measure that you measure it will be measured to you”
“I’ll rather appear before God as excommunicated than one that has not followed his own conscience”– St Thomas Aquinas
“One should always follow his own conscience even if it apppears to go against the church teaching” — Joseph Ratzinger — theologian

  16. # 5 AND # 13… In the first place i would like to put across my point on # 5 Zambia Shall be Saved by Nevers Mumba, just your title shows your foolishness,,mumba can not serve zambia, in which sense! you are talking about ”ponyo ponyo” you are just showing the general public how your parents are,i guess you were tought by your parents ..! and all those giving support to milingo over his actions you are just showing how dirt your **** minds are..milingo knows that he has failed in life now wants to give proof to the people that he is right…you can see from the actions and words ” guys think logically .those following milingo are blind spiritually.lilya anyenga ka sung aufwa sweet then saying preists should marry…recently wanted to divorce! i assure you what belongs to man.

  17. Milingo told a group of Sun Myung Moon followers that he believed Moon was the messiah. A couple of years ago Moon presented a bowing Milingo with books of Moon’s speeches that the moonists claim is the new word of G-d.

Moon teaches that Jesus Christ is a failure who now serves Moon’s dead son in heaven. Moon has declared that he is G-d incarnate and that there is no reason to attempt to discern between he and G-d for they are equal.

The Moon movement claims that Jesus, Mohammad(PBUH) and all the past saints bow before Sun Myung Moon.

Stallings is a primary Moon promoter who firmly states his belief that Moon is the Messiah.

search “japan spiritual sales moon” and see how the Moon organization funds people like Milingo by swindling widows in Japan.

  18. Once one steps on a banana peels, his fall is inevitable, unless a very formidable force holds him back. Obviously, Milingo is a confused man that has disgraced himself by not accepting to make use of God’s grace of his episcopal ordination. At his age, it is not normal in African to be jumping from one thing to another: An Archbishop, a healer, in Vatican, Moon church movement member, a married man, now to head another group in South Africa. Tomorrow, who knows? May be a Muslim! He should do well to cover his shame alone and stop exterminating his virus of confusion on the unsuspecting people by still using the name Catholic. Join me in praying for this confused old man that is looking for every opportunity to make an impart. What a pity!

  19. Stallings was never, ever a Jesuit. He was a priest of the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., who had a falling out with his bishop, Cardinal Hickey.

  20. Life is all about choices. If at a certain point of his life Milingo chose to be a catholic priest, he is equally entitled to choose another way that pleases him at any other stage of his life. He knows the catholic church enough and keeping that in mind, we need to respect his choices. Actually, whatever Milingo chooses to do is none of my business and I could care less whether he is catholic or not!

  21. Hey don’t use the name of Nevers mumba when you’re reasoning like a kid, I respect the man of God.
Why can’t this person whoever he is stand on his own? rather than using the other people’s name… this is being immoral!!! Grow fake Nevers Mumba ata iwe

  22. millingo practices witchcraft.Remember his demonic healing. before the Pope took him for closer monitoring. The man belongs to the moonies who draw demonic powers from the moon and the sun.Twikatane(universal church) and their farm are suspects , those who wworship or and buy their products need to pray through Jesus christ. Why is millingo bringing Ngoni worriers or dancers in church? The man needs seriouse prayers the TB Joshua type

    • Milingo is not a member or even share any of the theology of the Moon movement!
Milingo is a faithful deep christian and more orthodox in his theology,(not meaning conservative, but closer to the origin of the teaching of christ)than anyone in the Vatican ever have been, since S:T Peter himself.
Milingo only used the Moon church,to make a good point about a stubborn bad relic of the Roman church, the celebacy.
      Thats all.
I love my brother Milingo, and my Patriarch in Damascus have nothing bad to say about him eighter.

All this judgements from peopel,i se about Milingo,is not true love to God,but envy towards a devoted man,who dares to question a evil prestige issue of one of the oldest parts of the church of christ,The Roman Catholic Church.

    • Milingo never ever performed any demonic rituals. He was and is one of the mordern times most powerful Exorcists, quite the oposite of what richman here try to claim.
Some Vatican officials envy Milingos mission,to heal and expel evil out of peopel.
Most Popes have not been able to do this, but Milingo can.
And that is what he mean by; I follow the mission of God more than the mission of human beeings.

  23. It is truly a nice and helpful piece of information. I am happy that you simply shared this useful info with us. Please keep us up to date like this. Thank you for sharing.

  24. I thank God for Archbishop Milingo. An african-centered catholic rite is revealing itself before our very eyes. I pray that all will come to see what God, not man, is doing. Who among us does not want all of God’s children to rise in the light of Christ Jesus? The Holy See does not need to worry, the steps of the Archbishop are ordered by God. If you love God, then love his servant. What you do to him, you do to God. I pray God’s blessings upon all who surf this blog.

  25. Its such as you learn my thoughts! You appear to know a lot approximately this, such as you wrote the e book in it or something. I think that you could do with some p.c. to power the message home a bit, however other than that, this is fantastic blog. A fantastic read. I will certainly be back.

  26. Dear christians,Milingo Was,is and will allwyas be,a Holy man, anointed by God and Gods Church. There is other parts of the church of christ,as legitimate as the Roman Catholic church and even older, that recognise Milingo and his Love to God,mankind and christs church.
The institutional stubbornes of the Roman church about celebacy,is the problem in all this,or as many say,the old face of Satan, still wanting to govern some of the theology of the Roman church.
And still, the celebacy has not been in the church before the 14th century,at least not as a rule all priests must live accordingly to.
I know brother Milingo well,at least i did.
The Holy succecition from christ lives in him,no matter of the Bishop of Rome say yes or no about it.
    A excommunication,can also be revoced!by…
