The Movement for Multi Party Democracy (MMD) Chairperson for Security Ronnie Shikapwasha has expressed confidence the MMD will scoop the Mpulungu parliamentary seat.

The Mpulungu parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of the Member of Parliament (MP) Lameck Chibombamilimo.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka, Lieutenant General Shikapwasha urged the electorates of Mpulungu district in the Northern Province to vote for the MMD for Chibombamilimo’s legacy to continue and to accelerate developmental projects in the area.

The MMD Chairman for Security warned against violence in the Mpulungu by-election and appealed to the opposition political parties to exhibit political maturity in their campaigns.

Lt-Gen. Shikapwasha, who is also Information and Broadcasting Services Minister and Government Chief Spokesperson, regretted that the opposition political parties politicised the death of Mr. Chibombamilimo.

Lt-Gen. Shikapwasha observed that whilst the ruling party-MMD was mourning their member, the opposition was busy campaigning in Mpulungu.

“The ruling MMD will retain the Mpulungu parliamentary seat because we have done a lot as a government and sitting-Government,” he said.

He stated that MMD was not worried of the PF/UPND Pact because Government had taken development to the area and was still implementing developmental projects in Mpulungu district.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has not yet set the date for the Mpulungu parliamentary by election.

  1. This chap! I thought they had expelled the late MP (MHSRIP)? When it suits MMD they will say anything! This one ba Pastor you have lost it!

  2. 1, It’s nothing to with the individual and his state of discipline, people can be disciplined when they go astray, that is what all good homes do to ensure that children grow up into responsible adults. Discipline therefore does not mean enmity in civilised societies and political parties, that is why reconciliation is the mark of mature parties, unlike some parties which have decimated themselves over petty issues and jealousies like NCC allowances which the leader would not get because he was not a participant (contrast this with HH who already has money). This election will not be about the late MP, but about what the government is doing for the people.

  3. This is very sad indeed. Mabenga was busy saying Chibombamilimo was disciplined and dismissed from MMD and was not their own & was not a factor in Mpulungu. Now Ronnie says they will continue the development Chibombamilimo started. How can You continue what an indisciplined man was doing? Ba MMD yaba, kwena chachine Chimbwi afwa newa’la. MMD is going out in 2011.

  4. Mabenga was busy even saying Chibombamilimo was supporting Maureeen Mwanawasa, and his late wife is not from Mpulungu but Lenje. Atase, MMD has re-started Tribal politics. So the people of Mpulungu, supporters of the Late Lameck Chibombamilimo Kindly vote out MMD there, do not give them any chance. mabenga was even saying Mpombo is not Lamba but the wife. So what sort of politics are these.

  5. How can we harmonise the comments of mabenga yesterday and this one by pastor. This shows how confused these chaps are. Anyway its normal in a state of panic even brothers can contradic each other. May the spirit of chibombamilimo punish them in mpulungu in October

  6. ala kwena ba pastor bamasa. uyu muka wuleisa ika kaba. ala ba pact ngabalusa tukesa elo tukatole amabwe nga pa nairobi

  7. these buggers need to lose at all costs..you killed Lameck so you could have a litmus test..we shall see..
