Ex-Zambia coach Herve Renard has quit as Angola coach just half a year into his lucrative two year deal with the Palancas Nergas.
Renard steps down just days before Angola host Guinea Bissau next weekend in their second 2012 Africa Cup Group J qualifier in Luanda.
Angolan news agency Angop quoting Angola Football Federation boss Justino Fernandes confirmed Renard’s departure on Friday but did not cite the reasons.
However, other news sources have claimed that Renard quit due to delays in receiving his wages valued close US$ 100,000 and that he had been working without an Angolan work permit.
Renard has been replaced by former caretaker coach Zeca Amaral who was in temporal charge of the team in February after Manuel Jose of Portugal resigned from his post at the end of this year’s Africa Cup.
The Frenchman quits just a month after Angola lost their opening Group j match away to Uganda on September 4 where they went down 3-0 in Kampala.
Prior to that, Renard helped Angola secure passage to next year’s debut appearance in the 2011 CAF African Nations Championship finals in Sudan.
Meanwhile, Renard helped Zambia reach the Africa Cup quarterfinals in Angola.

Renard was never, has never been & will never be a good coach. He just worked with zambia, where talent abounds, but the likes of Kalu & others seems to be destroying it. Alot of people said Renard will fail, which has happened anyway. I am one of those who predicted that, coz I saw no system which people talked about. Football sometimes has luck & Renard was one such beneficiary in the zambian case. Now the mighty Angola loses 3-0 to Uganda! That is renard- a coaching scandal clothed in the Chipolopolo perfume of average sucess, pursuing Angolan diamond with below average soccer reasoning. Give him another chance & he will fail again. give him chances repeatedly, & repeatedly he will fail. he has no vision, no focus & no goal. Typical type of a coach who celebrates a team losing!

Renard is a good coach,whatever everyone is saying. For your own information, who would stick to a salary of $12,000,when there is an offer for $100,000? You are all out of your senses. This guy took us to the finals after almost 14yrs of poor football on our soil with so much talent. If human beings bannot manage themselves well, when they have the capacity to and one single being takes them own and makes it-thats pure management. If its not for money why is Kalu wallowing in dubious deals with the vast talent pa zed and neglecting the national team that made him what he is today? This Renard chap thought he would make a quick CV at our expense, that’s why he even accepted peanuts. He should have stayed longer and win us something if his CV was to be become authentic. As I saw it, he was just riding on Zed’s talented boys. If it wasn’t for Great Galu, Zed Football would have gone very far.
