Chinese Collum Coal MIne employees listing to the three Cabinet Ministers that President Rupiah Banda sent to address their concerns

The Mine Workers Union of Zambia (MUZ) has expressed disappointment at government’s reaction to the shooting of miners at the Chinese run Collum Coal Mine by two Chinese supervisors.

President Rupiah Banda yesterday warned against promoting xenophobic feelings against the Chinese following the Collum Coal Mine shooting incident, stating that people are shot by Zambians, by white people, and Americans.

But MUZ president Rayford Mbulu described as unsatisfactory government’s position on the shooting incident.

Mr. Mbulu said it is government’s responsibility to protect its people and to ensure that the law is applied accordingly on anyone who has gone against it.

He noted with dismay that the stance government has taken over the shooting incident, stressing that government should have done better by sending out a strong message to all investors who are not following the country’s labour laws.

Mr Mbulu has urged government to ensure that the laid down laws in the country are followed through to the latter and enforced fully on everyone.

  1. LOOKS LIKE SHOOTING DEFENCELESS PEOPLE MEANS LITTLE OR NOTHING IN THIS COUNTRY. IN THE CASE OF ONE DR. SOLOMON MUSONDA IT TOOK A LOT OF PUBLIC OUTCRY TO HAVE POLICE COME IN. THERE IS DEFINITELY NOTHING WRONG IN CONDEMNING THESE CHINESE TRIGGER-HAPPY CHARACTERS. THEY CAN GO TO HELL WITH THEIR MONEY AND LEAVE OUR PEOPLE IN PEACE. DONORS ARE MUCH BETTER WHO SPEAK AGAINST EVIL DOERS.

  2. I totally agree with # 1.All those trade unionist are controlled by their political masters at plot on. Just look at the political statements they make praising Bwezani and his puppets. They are all “job seekers” who should praise the Almighty Bwezani on a daily basis for making it possible to have food on their tables.None of them has the balls to stand up to the Labour Minister and tell him the way it is
There are too many cronies in the country acting as NGOs and every single day they are busy praising Bwezani and they can’t think outside the box.You just have to read that toilt paper called Zambia daily mail and Times of Zambia.to get the true picture of decay in that country.Whose interests are these MUZ *****s serving anyway? Kachimba and his boss are mrntally retarded period

  3. Toothless MUZ. Incito ma brown envelopes at the expense of the many suffering shi maini. Shame on you. Shaaa!

  4. #1 and 4. I agree with you. Unionists cannot pass the buck on this one. They are partly responsible for this incident and the other part, the Ministries of Labour and Mines. I wonder when we, as Zambia, will learn that the reactive approach to issues is more costly than the proactive one. The death at Manda hill, shooting at Maamba are all avoidable. Even the poor performance of the so-called athletes in India was avoidable but would rather react after the event. How sad!

  5. Sad indeed that the country is like it has no President. Our president RB has sold Zambians to foreigners.

Shame on RB and his MMD thugs

  6. Let the chinese take their money and leave our Zambia, our pipo and mineral resources. We can not be shot in our country in the name of investment. If RB is is a president of chinese, let him go to china

  7. MUZ, like the rest of the labour movement in Zambia is long dead, as JJJ BANDA, ZAMBIAN ABROAD and Coca cola citumbuwa point out above. Just looking at these iomages makes you want to cry! And the MMD minister even shake hands with these killers. It’s a crying shame. I’m sure they left tht mine with brown envelopes.

  8. China is said to have the worst mine accidents record in the world. They are not too bad at handling explosives (Chambishi) or shooting ( Sinazongwe).

  9. I cry for our beloved country. Kaunda stressed on educating the people so that they can understand issues better. Chiluba and the likes of Sata in his Govt. did not see the importance of this. therfore you now have 80% of people commenting on this blog site being a direct result of Chiluba/Sata era whos interlectual capacity is limited to talking about matuvi, chi colour etc. yesterdays postings by the majority morons was pathetic and a load of C*R*A*P to say the least. How sad. Such charactors once challenged all they can say is nizakumenya. How sad and disgusting. These people unfortunately hope to run this country with such limiting minds basically limited to insulting the president and nothing else. Anybody with any sense will understand what RB said and nowhere did he say it was OK

  10. for Zambians to shot by Chinese. Crimes are commited everyday and everywhere in the world but we have systems in place to handle crimes whatever form it takes. So please dont show us Zambians primarily and the whole world secondarily that our mindset is all about insults and very dirty ones for that matter. I dont, RB doesnt and nobody for that matter condones shooting people for whatever reason except ofcourse a war situation where shooting is necessary. So pls stop the rot for sanity sake. Lets be constructive.

  11. I’m very sorry for your problems. I would like to ask if you could help me, i’m looking for copper mines or company which have production of copper cathode , copper blisters in zambia. If you could help please email to [email protected]. Thank you
