Supreme Court acquits Chiengi man for defilement

Share

A Chiengi man has walked to freedom after the Supreme Court quashed his fifteen year sentence for defilement.

ZNBC’s Hannock Kasama reports from Kabwe that the court found no corroborative evidence to link the appellant, George Chipaso to the case.

Chipaso was alleged to have defiled a girl under sixteen years in Chiengi district in 2006.

In a related development, the Supreme Court has acquitted a Nakonde man convicted and jailed for indecently assaulting a young girl in 2008.

The Supreme Court said there was no evidence against the appellant, Michael John and quashed the sixteen year sentence slapped by the High Court.

The Judgment was delivered by Supreme Court Judge, Hilda Chibomba during the Supreme Court sessions in Kabwe.

  1. this is nonsense. why not go for DNA test. how can you just let a rapist like that? you should have taken him to the hospital for a medical check up as evidence. these are some of the reasons why people take the law into their own hands. if he raped my daughter, i will kill him myself. stu.pid judges with st.upid judgment in stu.pid court in a stup.id government. all is stupid

  2. Cases of defilement or rape are hard to prove without a witness or hard medical evidence. On the otherhand the judicial system has to convict when there is no considerable doubt. Simply put one cannot be jailed on the basis of suspicion. We do not DNA testing so that we lock up rapists and not the innocent.

  3. they also want to aquit regina, you guys must read the wave of nonsense in the judiciary. this is how they are preparing your small minds to accept that oh! even the rapist was aquitted and if he did a heinous act why not regina the concubine?

  4. “Supreme Court acquits Chiengi man for defilement.” Was he acquited for defilement or from a defilement case?
