Updated: Zambia Beats Tanzania

Share

Zambia enjoyed a winning start to their Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup outing after beating hosts Tanzania in both sides opening Group A match in Dar-es-Salaam this afternoon.

Dario Bonetti’s side won 1-0 thanks to a first half goal scored by Power Dynamos midfielder Kennedy Mudenda.

Mudenda was on target in the 17th minute thanks to a cross from Chisamba Lungu in the 17th minute.

Zambia top Group A on three points while they await the other delayed Group A match between Somalia and Burundi that was postponed from today to Sunday.

This is because of Somalia’s late arrival for the Cecafa Cup.

Bonetti’s side takes on Burundi at 13:00 Zambian time on Tuesday in their penultimate Group A match.

  1. #4 you should teach em it’s like you know much but nothing! You act like a fool, don’t you know that we learn everyday. You like a master of English just spotting mistakes. foolish!! To the national team well done even if it does matter to me win or lose. Am Zambian but support one united or manutd the best team in the world!!!

  2. Iwe chakomboka @6 – you began your comment well but your ending. how can you be misguided to believe man u is better than the boys of emirates for instance. that there trophy cabnet is full does not make them the best. Only the best play the game beautfully nomatter outcome. As for our boys in cecafa just do us a favour pliz.

  3. #7 you are very right my friend..infact chipolopolo means arsenals..maybe we should be calling them zambian gunners..lol

  4. # 7 playing good football is not as good as getting results. arsenal ‘s cabinet is not as full as man utd’s. no body remembers the second best but everyone cant forget the champion.

  5. Guys, especially critical ones, did u watch this game? I ve never cn 2 african teams play such beautiful soccer! I thought I was watching Arsenal and Barcelona. There was no Chipantepante both teams kept the ball in play and no team kicked the ball out of play when they were under pressure. They looked for strategically placed players and launched counter attacks from seemingly hopeless situations. The ball control was supreme and tactics were. First class. Any european coach watching this game would have been alarmed at the supreme. Technical knowhow of both teams. Imwe bantu ebola tulanda iyi! Arsene Wenger would have been proud if not envious of Zambia’s goal. It was top drawer stuff. Watching these 2 teams I had great hope for African soccer at 2014!

  6. Hello! Arsenal has not won in seven years maybe their bullets are in Zambia let them buy Kennedy Mudenda. Every body know Liverpool are the true Kings of England. Liverpool with a little more trophies including european champions league glory. How do you compare arsenal to Barcelona, Barcarole are champions and play a style untouched. Remember how the came to the emirates and treated arsenal like highschool kids two seasons or last season. It’s on YouTube remind yourself. Amakula shall always claim to play smooth football even when losing. Congratulations Zambia but still tax payer embezzlers.

  7. PROVE TO THE PREFESSIONALS THAT YOU ARE WORTHY DESPITE BEING CALLED PROFESSIONALS ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE WHO WERE DROPPED FOR LATE COMMING.

  8. firstly, i watched the game, the boys played well, but they do better. it was my first time to see our new coach he looks ugly whoever chose him should be attending beauty contests.

secondly, guys you should be watching your lips b4 opening them, how can you compare MAN U to kama arsenal, what you watch at arsenal is child abuse that is not soccer learn from man u.

  9. That’s the problem with Zambians-always taking issues out of context. I was analysing current soccer but they want to go into history as irrelevant as it may b in this context. If u want to blow other people’s horns know your subject first otherwise u ll just be a loudspeaker 4 others. This is not about English soccer but Zambian soccer. Don’t b so indifferent about ur home country! Man u and Arsenal have 2 different financial strategies. Man u r big spenders That’s y they r so much in the red Arsenal don’t spend That’s y they have the healthiest account in Europe as for not winning Man u went 8 years without winning. One time they even played second division soccer which Arsenal never have. In my analysis I was reviewing contemporary soccer not History every team has bad patches in…

  10. their History. Sum of us just wake up find a Historically great team and staryt supporting it. Make up ur own minds

  11. I ve never understood why Africans want to quarrel over teams that are thousands of kilometres away. Some f.ools even fought in Livingstone over a game in the English league. Liverpool are the true kings of England! Why not boast about the true kings of Zambia? Why not talk about TP mazembe Accra hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, Mighty Mufulira Wanderers. Newafishiba#12 you seem to know a lot about soccer and I agree you are talking positively about Zambian soccer but the next blogger takes the topic to Arsenal vs Liverpool. I dont think you cited English soccer so as to divert the topic to English league, You were just comparing and I like your positiveness

  12. Be careful with Burundi and Rwanda! Do not underrate them! They all have Congolese players who have run away from turmoil! Play with your lungs out boys!

  13. Soccer Fan 2 it is the “our house is on fire” syndrome. Blacks want to mourn when their slave or colonial masters are mourning and rejoice when the masters are rejoicing. So when the master’s house catches fire “our house is on fire” I ve never seen a Londoner who supports Kabwe Warriors but in Ngungu people will die for Arsenal
