Share

A-36-year-old man of Kanakantapa in Chongwe in Lusaka Province has committed suicide after his wife died following her electrocution.

A neighbour to the deceased couple Royce Chizuka confirmed the incident to ZANIS today and named the couple as Mwanje Banda and Chisoni Mumba.

Ms Chizuka said the woman died on the spot at a farm last night around 24 hours after she touched a naked live wire.

She said following his wife’s death, the man drank home pesticide and was rushed to Kanakantapa rural health centre where he died this morning around 10hours.

Meanwhile, Chongwe District Commissioner (DC) Japhen Mwakalombe has warned residents against engaging unqualified technicians to do electrical wiring of their houses and other infrastructure to avoid incidents of people being electrocuted.

The bodies of the couple are lying in Chongwe District mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial.

The couple has left behind four children, the eldest is 12 years and the youngest is four months.

  1. I am praying for the children and the family of the deceased. He should have stayed strong for himself and his children. He now might not see her in heaven after judgment. Knowing Zambians in pain he probably calle out to Jesus ba Chiuta. Blessings to the family the need to pick up from the two young point of education and raise these babies.

  2. Lord Jesus please help. Who is the MP in Chongwe, I hope the government can help the children. I wish there was a government in Zambia, unfortunately there is only MMD.

  3. Ninshi umuboizi uyu ? Now the children will suffer.Am sure madam alemusunga bwino and he couldn`t imagine life without her.MTSRIP.

  4. I am so saddened by the turn of events. The man must have been so much in love with his beloved wife and could not just imagine life alone without her.

It is so terrible that the children are now orphans. Hope the ministry of social services will look after the kids, educate and provide for them

  5. This is real love, the man honors his vows in trouble, sickness and death they are together May the couples souls rest in peace.

  6. Reminds me of the saying “if you live to be a hundred yrs i want to live a hundred yrs minus one day so i don’t have to live without you”Anyway may they RIP and the be kids taken care of.

  7. Yashani iyi nomba? This man just provided a permanent solution to a temperal problem!!!! Life is full of ups and downs, when you fall it does not mean you cannot pick up and rise again!!! Buuti batata aba nabena, i doubt if considered the plight of the children when he was drinking the pesticide.

  8. #7 You should watch the train tracks tomorrow, and don’t anything of blood, you can’t insult a son of man who is not rested yet.

  9. No, this is not love on the man’s part.He was self-centered because his departed wife gave him wonderful children that he should have thought of b4 killing himself. He just thought of how much he was enjoying his wife and how much he was going to miss without her but never wanted to think of how much their children need them and how terrible their lives would be growing up without both parents.I hope he repented b4 he took his last breath coz God condems suicide!

  10. LT once more please correct your cizungu before u post. the headline ” Man 36 commits suicide, wife electrocuted” make it sound as if the deaths happened in reverse order.

  11. Well hope its not those charms or juju arrangements where some couples agree that if one dies then the spouse also dies naturally or un naturally.

  12. #15 you seem to know what went on behind the closed doors Mwali panda nimwe?Do you have the same arrangement with your spouse?

  13. # 7 is right. The man is foolish. How do you commit suicide and leaving the children alone worse a 4 months old baby. The foolish man wasn’t supposed to commit suicide but was supposed to be strong and look after the children. The extended family system in Zambia has broken down and I don’t know who will take care of the children. Its sad.

  14. #12 naiwe, in freetown they rip out human organs with barehands and eat them raw and still live to see another day.. what r u talking about. The guy acted foolishly unless he had a hand in the wifes death, and made a quick escape before the mob dealt with him, poor children will now roam the streets for a long long time

  15. Maybe he is the one who found a technician to do the sharby works. Why did he have to kill himself. Nimambala maningi.

  16. We have a lot of rich people around. Let us start adopting orphans. It is not enough sympanthising. Let us be proactive. seriously I want to adopt a girl child who should be 5,6 or 7 years old. I think I have enough resources for that child. She must be a child who knows no any relatives. I prefer one who was abandoned. My contact is 0955786971, 0967786971,0975266888 and 0963490416. All lines are active. GOD bless all of you who will read this.

  17. The death of your beloved is too shocking. Everything seems worthless and when you feel like that you can do anything. I felt to be useless and everything including my life seemed worthless when I lost my beloved daughter. But I had to think about the other children who still needed me. So not spill scorn on this man.
