Lely Florez has arrived ahead of Saturday’s World title unification bout against Esther Phiri at Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka.
The Colombian will face Esther for the WIBA belt and vacant IBO female light welterweight title.
Florez, a 16-4-0, said she was looking forward to a good fight against Esther, 11-2-2, who is unbeaten in her last 12 fights.
“My experience will be key in this fight,” Florez, who was flanked by her trainer Josedelo Zuniga, said at a press briefing at the Southern Sun Hotel in Lusaka upon arrival.
“Esther Phiri is a good boxer but we don’t think there will be a knockout but if there is it will be good for me.”
Florez added that she was expecting a good fight against Esther and is also looking to bounce back after losing her WBC belt in her last fight on September 10 away to Monica Acosta of Argentina.

this one seems to be a walk over for esther but my advise is for her to retire after this fight.
Boxer Florez doent look impressive like that lady from states who fought Esther last time. May be she will do more talking using her punches in the ring. Days are gone when Billy savage from USA thrilled Lusaka fans by selling his fight against late Lottie Mwale that fans should come early in numbers and will miss out on his ring craft should they come late coz by then he would have finished off his bout with Lottie. He was all oveer Cairo Road boasting how he gonna knock out Lottie in the first three rounds. We had the likes of Basankaro from Mali who thrilled fans in ABU Championship that if he lost to Lottie then the sun will not rise in Bamako. This fight will be very dull however I look forward to a good show by Bwalya and Kanyanta. Fans lets troop there in numbers this is all we have
She looks no match to Ester. She looks Small.
Esther you are one of the few Zambian role models who has struggled to be where you are. We shall always support and pray for you because you have demonstrated that God’s talent is above education. You have also testified that even a shanty girl who has not passed through an international school can make it in life and be a world champion. I know you will pull through even in this fight.
She looks smaller than Ester but might be quicker Ester should box clever and not waste too many punches as she has done in other fights..a knock out must not be the main aim..all the best.
