The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has outlawed displaying of “no refund, no return” disclaimers.

The commission says the action is illegal and has warned that it will soon start clamping down on offenders.

Public Relations Director, Brian Lingela says the any business firm found displaying such disclaimers will be fined up to 10 percent of its annual turnover.

Mr Lingela said the move will be taken to enforce the law and also to protect consumers from traders who usually sell defective products.

He said this at a media briefing in Lusaka, yesterday.

Mr Lingela also said the commission will take action against traders who charge their customers more than the price indicated on a product or service.

He said the commission is currently investigating the airline industry for charging customers’ hidden costs when buying air tickets.

  3. Zambia has some very good laws. Only thing is poor enforcement. This law is good for consumers, but worry is if the commission have the staff to enforce it. We shall wait and see.

  4. There is a lot of fake Sony and Phillips Televisions and other fake electrical appliances along Chacha RD in almost all the Indian Shops. 7. Mwanya, in your campaign could you guide us on how you are going to achieve those plans? What’s the time frame and how are you going to ensure that it is not just talking without deeds?

  8. Way Forward #2 As much as I would want a change of government Zambia is not Lusaka. We want a political leadership that will repair the country as a whole. The Tiger should be able to restore the Copperbelt to what it was before ZCCM took over.

  9. Ba Mwenye balitumoa sana. They sell you rubbish and turn their butts on you when you want to return. Good way to go.
