Opposition PF MP and Luapula Province Minister Besa Chimbaka Confirmed the Incident and visited the scene

Angry villagers in Senama area of Mansa district have burnt to death two unidentified middle-aged men whom they suspected of being ritual killers.

Police and people who witnessed the killing of the duo confirmed the incident to ZANIS in Mansa today.
According to eyewitnesses, the two victims were pounced on by a mob of villagers when a little boy they allegedly attempted to snatch last evening shouted for help.

The same eyewitnesses said the mob had assaulted the two men to unconsciousness before dragging them to the roadside where they piled wood and grass and set them on fire.

The angry mob of villagers also booed and attacked police officers who went to the scene to investigate the matter. The sticks and stone wielding villagers smashed the windscreen of the police vehicle.

Luapula province deputy police commanding officer, Musweswa Wakwinji, described the incident as a senseless brutal murder but could not give details and referred all queries to the police spokesperson in Lusaka.

Earlier, some villagers told ZANIS that there have been incidences of children going missing in Senama area.
When asked to lead the ZANIS news crew to anyone of the parents who have lost children, the villagers withdrew.

But Luapula Province Minister Besa Chimbaka, who visited the scene this morning to see the charred bodies of the victims, said people in Senama have been living in fear of suspected ritual killers.

Mr. Chimbaka confirmed having heard rumours that Senama area was suspected to have ritual killers snatching children.

He expressed sadness that the rumours have now resulted into the senseless loss of two lives through mob justice.

He said police must now realise that there was a problem in the area. The minister said there is need to quickly build a fully fledged police station in Senama to secure the lives of people.

  1. These are Chiluba people , they are bad I tell you.  Are they the same with ” Twina Ng’umbo”?

I think the community leaders of this village should be arrested and brought to justice as a lesson. We need to send a strong message that barbarism and instant justice are so 70s and we are not going to tolerate that behaviour in this time and age.

And this Chi Minister should not even thrown in a hint of justification of ritual killers.

  2. even a grade 2 can investigate this matter! What I fail to understand is the period of time taken, collecting wood and glass and the process of making fire, if it was petrol used that can be understood. Arrest the all village including the boy in question to help with investigation.

    Our officers are always late!

  3. Ala, it this not the same Senama part of Mansa where a woman stripped naked the other week?

  4. Good evening

Quote: “When asked to lead the ZANIS news crew to anyone of the parents who have lost children, the villagers withdrew.” Now where is the evidence of the misswing children?

As far as I’m concerned, rumours of ritual killings are nothing new in Africa (also see Orisha, Vodun, Candomble etc.) but the instant justice of suspects is a new dimension. Chances may be that the two men were innocent but circumstances of being in the wrong place at the wrong time led them to become suspects.

    • It was real in Livingstone in 1992 which sparked off the riots against Indians and left 5 Zambians convicted of murder but as usual Zambian justice favors those with money. No Indian was convicted in the matter though it took almost 2years to conclude the case.

  5. Africans are used to status quo – I am sure the two men posed something out of the ordinary (whatever it was) and the best label was ritual killer tags… Just observe how wealthy people are accused of “trading their lives for wealth” – whatever that means. I say so because my hard earned status has been rumoured as ill-gotten many times. The other dimension is a signal of how little faith people now have in the course of institutional justice in our country. The perceived, and often coincidental image of partiality of our police and judicial system tends to make people seek their own laws in dealing with injustice, perceived or real.

  6. Senama! l lived there and that Peri Urban community is capable of making news everyday. I think its influenced by the name….Do you know what senama means??

  7. Well done villagers.. when law men failed to perform their duties take the law into your own hands and protect your children from these senseless killers. We are fedup of these underworld people who believe in juju to get rich quickly.

    • I concur with you and very dissapointed with others peoples comments on this matter. There comes a moment in life when we have to be sincere. The issue of ritual killings is very much realistic.I hope all of you know how our police has been too corrupt.Do you think they can tell us the truth when the same riots erupted some time back though no life was lost, but that the same Amico bribed the Police to cover him.Any business prosperity must have a tangible track record, this is Africa baba, and its common people have been practicing this hence peoples anger to defend themselves.Children are treasures of life,Who would want his child to to die unjustly. Not even a mad person would accept this.

  8. This what happens when all police man power is only directed at Mpombo when proper criminals are walking the streets of lusaka!

  9. only the parents of the missing children can be the witnesses who else and they are the only ones in pain.

  10. Luapulans believe a lot in the black arts. Isnt this the same province were teachers are running away because of threats against them of been bewitched? It does rain a lot in Luapula in June and July complete with thunder and lightening! If only they could use their technology productively rather than in a destructive way.
I would also like people to desist from generalising that ‘in Africa this and that’. Let us all be specific at all times about the area in which something is happening. Africans are not the same neither are Zambians.

  11. My God i didn`t know that mob justice is still happening pa zed.I remember when growing up i saw my homies burn a suspected thief to death using old car tyres.

  12. What a country. This only happens in horror budget movies. Only happens in Africa, or Zambia? Apalling. Like I always say , I am being vindicated slowly

    Thanks

  13. Here in Europe This would not happen. I just told my fiance this, and he was laughing his head off. Whats wrong with MOST zambians? huh? Why I dont think whites would do that. Thats why black is Inferior to white.White comes first, even in Chess White starts first and is the FIRST priority not black. If one is to consider the issues of the psychological phenomenon known as an inferiority complex, they will realise that the problem appears to be rather quite pervasive. People who are fair skinned, irrespective of race, appear to be treated with a greater sense of capitulation, even when it isn’t necessary.
In zambia there is a well known and common practice to readily fork out millions to pay white consultants to come in and tell us how to do things eg Chiluba court case right? Thanks

    • Whats wrong with you ? Is it that time of the month ? Just drink a lot of water and take a rest ,i know what hormones can do.

    • Mushota-
First of all spare us your personal life…who need to know about your fiancee’s opinion…let along his ignorance. Whats wrong with most Zambians? Are u effing serious? whats wrong is people like you that think becoz they jump on BA, drink some cherry then Zambia is not good enough for them SMH. How in the hell you are going to conclude black is inferior to white….is it what that muzungu man is telling you pantu alekupela ama paper or promising you a wedding ku Pamodzi hotel? Am female and not hating coz you gat a man but saddened that you stoop so low to say crap…have you read that in Europe there are crazy people too? Wasnt that fool that fathered children with his own children from europe? WHY CHIKALABA SO KANSHI?

    • Your fiance laughed his head off! Watch out! You will be getting married to a pervert who might just kill you. Perhaps while you are in bed. In any case you are also a pervert as can be seen by your inferiority complex. Which black person wants to see herself as inferior unless she is mad?

    • Mushota did u know that each time a serial killer is being profiled in the west, the first suspicion that comes up is that he could be white because very few if not all black people indulge in such?.A few black cases in the west; Wayne Williams in the 80s and John Malvo aand Muhammad the Washington snipers much recently in 2004.Also a few cases in Africa here and there due to false beliefs of acquiring wealth but as for the west ,the white man dominates;Jeffrey Dahmer,John Wayne Gacy,The Green River Killer,Ted Bundy,Henry Lee Lucas etc,the reasons attributed to a majority of white serial killers when being profiled is because of upbringing. Now there’s something for u to keep u alert at night while u lie in bed next to your perfect man.No need to pay. That was free advice.

    • And I don’t know which Europe you live in because the england I have been living in has such similar practices starting from Stone Henge to modern witch societies. It is just that you can never take the law in your hands.

    • Hey,you seen to be a very damp girl. Why do you act foolisly when ever a black person goes abroad. You forget your roots and believe me you will never be white. And in actual sense what you do there ,is just washing aged people.Wapuba mune.Posafye amano mukukundana nomusugu emulimo umbi wuuocita.

  14. #16
    Mushota .

Stop that racist remark.. I live and work with the whites but I see them as equal as an black or asian original. You must be colour blind and respect your follower Africans.. You will never become white. Be sensable on what you say or write. wapuba.

  15. That is Mushota for you. Her English is repulsive but always stating her mind. Do bloggers still take her for nut case?

  16. That is Mushota for you. Her English is repulsive but always stating her mind. Do bloggers still take her for nut case? Doesn’t she come from the same area?

  17. Mushota seems to know one or two things about her luapula ilk. If you read #8 , a self declared Senama chap, you will be shocked about how he is excited about the sad news. Chiluba used to be excited about stealing remember…’hehehe, pakwakana ubunga tapaba insoni’. And,
wow, Senama is ‘peri-urban’ and for those who are still trying to work out your geography, the ‘urban’ in this case in Mansa.

  18. Sad story,as someone staying in mansa de town has recently been in de news for de wrong reasons.it a stong warning to dubious bussinessmen n’women who believe in wiitchcraft n’send these pipo to snatch young children for ritual purposes.

  19. You may insult me all you want. But the northern and luapula provinces in Zambia take primitive to the cave stories of Europe. While Africa was civilized.

  20. This is flat out murder. The villagers should have taken the two men to the police if they suspected anything. Instead they chose to kill without having any evidence. Even killing with evidence is wrong. It is time the Police got serious with mob justice and started making arrests.

Mob justice is wrong and should be discouraged. Innocent people die through mob justice and the police seem unwilling to do anything about it. It is time they got serious with it before it gets out of hand. Some of those villagers need to get arrested for murder.

  21. Its clear that Mushota is speaking from her behind! Mob justice is dangerous because innocent people have died due to baseless suspicions. A few weeks ago a pregnant woman undressed at senama market and now they are killing and burning people! Senama izabvuta, the police should surround and arrest the whole village!

  22. @ Mushota. You got it all wrong. Those who think she is from Luapula also are wrong. I know this ady from facebook. She is E.S. Her parents, her father is from Zimbabwe. Well, let her talk all she wants, it is not very common for an English man to marry a black woman. They just use them for a while, just to taste the difference. Those guys from Luapula should find better ways to sort out their differences, witch hunting and killing others in that way is not the way forward.

  23. @Mr. Capitalist – 3 E’s steering economic growth . The province is going backward. The police, teachers, even the minister fear witchcraft or to be witched. Those villages will get away with crime. The govt should educate these people to think “lawfully”
    and not depending on witchcraft.

  24. Twalikutemwa kumwesu eko tulya fresh fish. Dont even talk about civilisation when your grand parents have been living in worst hosing you can ever imagine . Villages in northern and Luapula are built to last for years unlike some of …… built to last for a season with completely no toilets

  25. Chiluba wants to use those kids for the elections these people we hear are bad news ask Katele about his disappearing acts.

  26. Nothing will happen to those criminal villagers who clearly have commited murder because Rupiah and his MMD government are all beneficiaries of witchcraft through ciluba and katele.

  27. #6 Kalok: Got a point there.
These are bad indicators in the country and I hope it does not spill over into the political arena. There is too much intolerance now and mistrust for the security/justice system. This is a warning that acts of political violence should be condemned, especially by the MMD because people are getting hints from them. Ine nalande impo mpelele!

  28. We call that suburb ku Senama, and it is not a village at all, ni mu town. It is not first time such stuff to happen in that area. When I was at St. Clements High School, we used to go and help out in ICHITALEME, that is leading a dead person to its killer, following a flighing coffin… That is Mansa full of life.

  29. # 16 Mushota, in Senama people like your fiance (who was your husband yesterday) can not be LAUGHING his head off. Burning live people to death is not a laughing matter, only COLONIAL old whites can laugh as such matters. You laugh at Aushi people of Mansa they will declare FATWA on your old man. And I won’t be surprised to hear he has a stroke tomorrow.

  30. To all Senamanians. This is the 21st Century not the 12th Century. When someone is accused of anything nowadays we refer him to the justice system. We call the police to arrest then prosecute at a court. The court is separate from the police. It is at this place that a verdict based on the evidence presented will be passed. Then the guilty will be given an appropriate sentence. We now live in a society of laws; whether they be: innocent until proven guilty or guilty until proven innocent, the laws must take their course. You cant be lynching people in this day and age. Bututu! Whats wrong with you Luapulans?

  31. They need to do the same justice to RB for making them poor and stealing their votes. Zambia is a animal farm country where there’s no courts and laws hence everyone is a police to protect their villages. In Kitwe my gang the Jerabos we are ruling and taking it over from the MMD.

  32. #6 Your analysis is perfect and to the point. We need people like you to post comments on matters of this nature not immature and stupid comments like #1.

  33. #16: Iwe ka Mushota mwaiche uleichindika waunfwa!
Anyway, we know you just do this to attract some attention and somehow I just laugh at you each time you write nonsense like this.

  34. Mushota or shortage uli cipuba sana. For u getting married to a white skin is heaven on earth. Grow up woman. Visit Zambia and u ll be suprised to see how people have progressed. Ur gate white man can not even afford to build massions we live inn now. I D I O T

  35. # 16 Mushota. Its not all zambians. Its in Luapula where you come from. Tell your boyfriend the right place where u come from. Primitive people that side mmm. My friend ran away from some part of Luapula after witnessing an airborne coffin at a funeral.

  36. :-?ba mushota, its not Europe that makes you different or even you having a white boy friend that makes you any different from the tribes mates in mansa in senama…..her inferiority complex amazes me…what ever you do my dear it will never change who you are a senamarian…a senamarian you shall be :”>:-w:-?

  37. Sad reading indeed. This Mushota is still as annoying as ever.I agree with the blogger who said that she is from Zimbabwe.Wonder why they are ashamed of their own homeland…

  38. @ 46, Let this Mushota come back and tell me off. I know her very well, it is sad that she writes the way she does and in the “real” life she pretends to be good. I know her and let her prove me wrong.

  39. # 16. Your comment is rather too steep, but I think you have point somehow.
My grandfather died believing whites and blacks are not the same in any way.

  40. Only a mad person forgets his roots or the home he/she came from.Mushota is indeed one of such.At times before making comments in this age,its important to find out the truth.Visit Mansa first and gather the truth socially which the corrupt Police of nowadays will never bring out.People are not crazy that they would just one day rise and riot. They have been reporting and no response in their favour,What would you have wanted them to do?Go to court with the current legal system which is in its decay. To day a person is condemned tomorrow someone is as free as never before,in the eyes of God.It is just to take action in defence.
