ZAWA dispatches officers to chief Chitanda’s area to capture stray lions

Share

Zambia wildlife Authority (ZAWA) officers in Chibombo District have set up camp in Chiyuni area of chief Chitanda’s chiefdom to capture two stray lions that have been terrorising the area.

Chibombo District Commissioner (DC) Col. Philip Chabakale says the deployment of ZAWA officers will help to reduce further injuries or harm to people and domestic animals from the stray lions.

Col. Chabakale urged the people in the area to be on the alert of the lions which have so far killed three cows and are still roaming the area.

He also appealed to the community to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary movements to avoid the dangerous beasts from attacking them.

The two lions are suspected to have come from Kafue national park and Kaindu area in Mumbwa district.
