Electoral Commission of Zambia-ECZ Chairperson has launched the inspection of the provisional voters’ register.

The inspection of the provisional voters’ register takes place from 30th May to 12th June 2011.

Justice Mambilima has appealed to all registered voters in the country to ensure that they check their details in the provisional register of voters from their various polling stations.

She explains that the inspection of the provisional voters’ register by those eligible to vote in this year’s general elections will enable the Commission remove voters from the register who may have died.

Justice Mambilima further says it is important for all registered voters to check their details in the provisional voters’ register to ensure that they are not disenfranchised in this year’s general elections.

She also says registered voters who may have had their names omitted on the provisional voters’ register will have an opportunity to have their names included in the final register.

The inspection of provisional voters’ register by registered voters is an important milestone in the preparations for this year’s tripartite elections.

Five million two hundred and twenty three thousand, three hundred and sixty five voters are currently on the Register of Voters.

  6. Who is going to check for those who have died in order for the ECZ to remove them? Ridiculous thinking by Ireen. LT wrote “She explains that the inspection of the provisional voters’ register by those eligible to vote in this year’s general elections will enable the Commission remove voters from the register who may have died”. What if some one is not eligible to vote but his/her parents or some one they knew died? They can’t facilitate removal from register? Very dull chairperson.

  7. Is this another exercise to check if one is in the register? Why? Don’t remove anyone, unless one says they want removed. People have a right to register and not vote if they so wish. This seems like a scheme to purge out some people deliberately and say they did not confirm being on registers even if they did. Is this the Rupiah Gbagbo Banda scheme? It wont work.

You can delay it even when you are in some financial difficulty. An individual won’t always take personal for a lot of express purposes prefer to purchase a vehicle or bike and property.
