FODEP Concerned with Intra-Party Democracy

Share

The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has expressed concern at the outcome of the recently held political party conventions.

FODEP Executive Director, Macdonald Chipenzi has observed that all the respective conventions outcomes had the parties top leadership go unopposed.

Mr Chipenzi says there is need for competition within political parties in order to grow intra-party democracy, which in turn will cultivate high quality calibre of leadership.

Meanwhile, Mr Chipenzi has called on other political parties, which have not held their respective conventions to do so.

  1. Chipenzi, you speak some sense but where is that Ng’oma chap who who talks absolute trash? Why is he quite on this occassion?

  2. Our democracy is still growing. I am happy that Cycle sata this time went to a convention. hopefully, next time he will subject himself to a true democracy. of course, you zambians need to woke up. you only get on board when some one has finished laying foundation. I don’t blame sata for being the sole candidate. hopefully, long after he has retired from politics, people wouldbe able to fight for party leadership democratically. well done sata.

  3. Just name the parties that you know havent held conventions or any semblance thereof- Narep, Upnd, Heritage, ADD, etc etc. Dont beat about the bush. In any case what value have these shams of conventions by MMD and PF added to intra party democracy?

    • thats it my brother they just waste money on lodging and allowances when they all know who leads them…so ba fodep shutup..you just want donor funds to come your way ati mulelanda

  4. Catherine Namugala is the dumbest minister ever! One of the many reasons MMD should go!

How can a country promoting itself use musicians from another country to do the job. Why? Zambian artistes are not good enough to promote their own country? They only good enough to sing at thieves’ funerals. Is that it?

Which country promotes its tourism in this manner. Does Congo call Maiko Zulu or JK to promote their country? A people that dont believe in themselves can never prosper.!! Never!

  5. Nubian Princess @ No.3, You seem to have a lot of passion about the issue of foreign musicians promoting Zambian tourism and I do agree with you. But it is nauseating that you have to post this your comment on every article, it’s boring!!! Pliz…

  6. African democracies are nothing more than CHIEFDOMS. How does one expect competition of ideas from people that are conservative and do not embrace new ideas nor do they want to learn from others. Today it is tribal politics, tomorrow it will be clan politics and finally it will degenerate into family politics. Moving backwards!

  7. who says PF had a convention..that was a kitchen party..nonsense..without going to the ballot ..vaupuba..pliz stop talkin about UPND coz Saki was wired..in 2005..Nchite was wired wby Andy..what are u talking about ..PF shud go back..
