Miyanda working with three other political parties to form a coalition

HERITAGE Party president Brigadier-General Godfrey Miyanda

Heritage Party President Godfrey Miyanda says he is working with three other political parties to form a coalition.

General Miyanda says he is however still considering standing as a Presidential candidate on Heritage party ticket if the grand coalition fails to work.

General Miyanda also says the Heritage Party will only field candidates in constituencies the party is confident of victory.

General Miyanda was speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka on Wednesday.

But General Miyanda has not mentioned political parties he intends to form a coalition with ahead of the tripartite elections.

And General Miyanda has called on all stakeholders not to pressure the Electoral Commission of Zambia over the date for the 2011 tripartite elections.

General Miyanda says the ECZ should be allowed to do their work and complete the preparations ahead of the general elections.

  1. it would be suicidal for General Miyanda to stand as presidential candidate in this year’s elections. Doing so will not just split the opposition vote but will also severely damage his respected political standing because he is unlikely to do well.
The option of working with other political parties makes sense and the sooner that can be made public the better for all parties involved in the process.

  2. It’s rather too now … and can Miyanda work with anyone eles? Does the party have money to fight an election? The best HP result was in 2001 with 4 MPs: Glayds Nyirongo (Bwacha – Kabwe), Patrick Musonda (Kabwe Central), Ronald Banda (Petauke) and Nedson Nzowa (Kabushi – Ndola). All 4 deserted Miyanda to become ministers in Levy Mwanawasa’s govt soon after the elections, except for Musonda who was still a backbencher. His other losing candidates: Ronald Slim Shikapwasha, Peter Daka, Brian Chituwo later joined the MMD and won on their ticket and consequetly become ministers. So in which consituencies is Miyanda strong or sure of victory? Time has come for Miyanda either to retire or to do a “Ben Mwila” and stand as an MP but where? Maybe his home village, Petauke, but can he beat Dora?

  3. MIYANDA is still a loner in 2011, let him study his track recordwhen it is election time, please dont waste our time, the man has no structures to talk about and has never gone to a convetion to elect leaders. VIVA MMD, VIVA RB

  4. He is just a political day dreamer, he always wake up at last. Wat kind of a general is this one?

  5. Miyanda! Miyanda, honestly this guy does he think he can win and become our president sure. I like this guy but he has so much poor strategy that I can not even waste my vote on him, coz it will be a wasted vote. Somebody advise this guy pliz

  6. #3 you are right in questioning what kind if general Miyanda is. If he led an army to war they would be waving a white flag in no time or would be history even before the war got into the first gear. I thought he had potential at some point but so far he has been a waste of life. General you need to throw in the towel, you have nothing to offer now you wasted the opponrtunity. No need for bitterness. The person you were bitter with (Chiluba) for firing you is no more, get a life.

  7. I am surprised that Miyanda still considers himself a “SOMEBODY” in politics even today. He is a real joker!!!!

  8. Ba Mudala aba ine nomba nimbasula tabakwata amano. He missed an opportunity when he rejected late Mwanawasa’s offer work with him. There are no permanent enemies in politics. That’s why it is poiltics. You have to be strategic. GENERAL, find something better to do than start splitting votes.

  9. Lost it, ba Brig. Gen. Probably needs a campus?

He says MMD and PF are the same, on the assumption he joins forces with UPND, AD and NAREP, they will also become the same as MMD or PF?

He will miss the time or the boat and remain with nothing in his palms.

  10. The best the Gen can do is to team up with PF and forget the past. We have only one zambia as our home and we need to work together for the betterment of our children. Ba Gen, on’t vie for the presidency, things are better-off given to you by God…

  11. BA MIYANDA WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO PROVE,HERITAGE PARTY IS A DROP IN THE OCEAN AGAINST THE PF AND UPND.BA MIYANDA PLEASE DONT EMBARACE YOUR SELF LIKE THIS AND IF YOU REALLY WANT TO COME BACK TO POLITICS THAN THERE IS ONLY ONE ANSWER AND THAT IS JUST JOIN OR MERGE WITH PF WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT THIS IS THE WAY LEFT FOR YOU BA SIKULU

  12. God free Miyanda has never learnt to work with people, maybe now? This is a good man to plant at State House; has good honest qualities, MR SQUEAKY CLEAN. Mbuwanikoni pang’ono first!

  13. It would be very difficult to sale & market Miyanda, Magande & Milupi to the people.

Miyanda has the gats to tell Zambia that MMD & PF are the same, when he is a
by-product of MMD, having served as a Vice President in Chiluba’s regime.

    Has he stopped thinking?

As for Milupi, he has completely failed to galvanize his home ground. He is being out-foxed by both RB & Sata in his own backyard

  14. Where is Alfred Zulu? Now that the UN has recognized homosexuals its time to revive that NGO from the 1990s …. LEGATRA (LEGATRA= Lesbians, Gays and Transgender Association)!! Remember gay rights are just happy human rights!

  15. The Z media does a great disservice to Z democracy by not having live debates with presidential candidates. They are supposed to have started asking questions to all presidential candidates on issues that affect the country. If the Z media can only copy the way western countries like Britain scrutinise all presidential candidates using interviews and live debates. Candidates are asked direct questions in a live debate on foreign, economic, employment policies they have been practicing whilst in power or plan to implement. How many live debates have these Z media outlets ever had between ministers, shadow ministers & presidential candidates? If the candidates are not questioned about their agenda & policies affecting the country by the media…honestly how can Z ever elect the best leader.

  16. This Man never stopped to amuze us all.He has all the Brains behind him and can really articulate stuff well but i wonder why sometimes he does stuff in an indirect taste to support the ruling party. This man is MMD.He just has to stand on an MMD ticket and all will be fine. When everybody else is wondering as to why the elections date is not yet announced,he talk bla bla bla.I think ECZ is running behind time.If this man rules the gov offices wouldn’t be getting their job done on time.Bunang’ni fye lyonse.

  17. PLEASE HH, GENERAL MIYANDA, MR. KAKOMA, GENERAL CHITUWO, NAMULAMBE, SAVE THIS COUNTRY FROM JOKERS AS IT HAS BECOME CLEAR THAT PEOPLE WANT CHANGE. DON’T ALLOW THE COUNTRY TO BE RUN BY GUY SCOT WHO SLAUGHTERED HIS PIGS AND REWARDED HIMSELF WITH FOREIGN CURRENCY EVEN WHEN THERE WAS NO SWINE FEVER. Do not allow this precious country into hands of crooks. We the people extend this call to other few remaining men of good standing in MMD to avert a nightmare.

  18. Zambians don`t appreciate people with upright character like Miyanda or Nevers Mumba. Zambians like crooks, we steal the meagre resources while they are looking. The likes of Chiluba and Sata, are what people consider political heavy weights. Look, what Zambia needs not a vuvuzala type of leader. Just a morally upright character can change the face of Zambia. The country is not poor but only lacks quality leadership. I mean leaders who have integrity like General Miyanda. Not these Kaponyaz who grab other peoples wives. When are you going to learn Zambians. Sata is worse than Chiluba. If you do not believe me, make a mistake and vote for him.

  19. #30 wa kolwa lutuku ati??? Nevers Mumba squeaky Clean?????Maybe call him squeegy/Slimey!!! As for Miyanda, even psychologists are failing to categorize him, there isn’t much to comment!!

  20. General Miyanda is the biggest clown I’ve ever come across! He awakes from his slumber every election and thinks he can make an impact? Whatever weed he’s smoking should be very potent! Get a life General, and perhaps stick to farming.

  21. Too late to make a pact. Why did you not show solidarity to HH,MS pact like Col.Kaunda was doing.

  22. General, at least you have earned yourself respect from the many that hold you in high esteem of which I am one.
Yes sir move in and make that coalision and we wait to see our end.
    Stay blessed sir.

  23. #21 why do you use bad language. That is being shallow minded, put your contribution objectively not insults please. Shame on you!

  24. Often military officerz, especially the level Miyanda reached, are very intelligent and disciplined. They are war plannerz and any false move can be very devastating to their unit.

  25. Question to PF bloggers on LT be sincere, who is better presidential material, General Miyanda or Michael Sata.

  26. He is forming an alliance with UPND and APC. And he wants to be the presido of the pact. So, would under5 accept that?? Both Miyanda and HH want the top slot.

  27. MIYANDA should stop drinking tujilijili at night. He is now hallucinating. Truly how can the sleeping dog just waken up and think people can believe his dullness.

Stop smoking some leaves. Come back to reality bwana. You are history now, and history has no reverse gear.b Miyanda like Ben Mwila now belong to the political dust bin. Wishful thinking.

  28. Miyanda is a very principled man we should take very seriously. I blame people who join partines based on popularity and not principle. We talk about the fact that we need upright, honest, God fearing leaders etc, but fail to identify correct leaders to support. If Zambians are serious about real change, this man offers undoubted change. We can not easily forget our past and bring in the person who planted the bad seed of the third term that has lead to a vacuum in leadership. Miyanda was denied Presidency by selfish individual in 2001. Since them we have struggled to find acceptable leadership. Can the Church please be sincere in guiding the people on real God fearing presidential candidates.

  29. THIS IS THE GUY WHO REMOVED CHANNEL O FROM AIR BECAUSE HE BELIEVED IT CORRUPTS MORALS. WHO ELECTED HIM THE MORAL GUARDIAN FOR ALL ZAMBIANS? THE MAN IS TOO RIGID. HE ABUSES POWER TO DECIDE SOLELY WHAT IS GOOD FOR ALL. REMEMBER HOW HE STAYED ON IN CHILUBA’S CABINET WITHOUT ANY OBJECTION UNTIL THE 3RD TERM SAGA THREATENED HIS OWN ASPIRATION TO HIGHER OFFICE?

  30. Chimbwi! Lol 20th September 2011 is elections date and you are still consulting. Mwati baganiza aba? What sort of a General are you? You are an embarassment. man! Where have you been?

  31. Zambians lost a chance of having a president who can transform this country into a better one, The Man Is BRIG.GEN.GODFREY MIYANDA. You see Zambian politics is such that it’s only FOOLS who get to the top bcoz of the caliber of the electorate we have. Clean people like the General have been called names and everybody has been brainwashed into believing that he is a loner, he is rigidy. It is sad that good people will never rule this country. How I wish that all Zambians will wakeup one day and acknowledge the potential in General Miyanda. Gen. each time you stand for presidency you’ll have my vote.

  32. I agree with no.50. Miyanda is assured of my vote. I will not go for wrong candidates simply because they are so called popular. To go for popular candidate without assessing the the charactor of the individuals concerned is very dangerous brothers/sisters. Zambia is very rich potentially and does not require us to carelessly experiment with leadership. Please let us reflect on our decisions.

  33. Miyanda is not a factor in the Zambian politics today. The man is full of Utopian theories. In short, Miyanda is a big time dreamer.

  34. :d What’s the point. He himself knows he has no hope of winning. He is a sadly a spent force and has failed to mobilise support. Why does he wake up just a few weeks before the elections?

  35. He is not a spent force. Many Zambians know that he is the right material, but the problem is that they dont take a step to support him. On the issue of coming late it is not true because ideally campaigns should be done during the official period. Before that the elected government should be allowed to rule and the opposition should not oppose everything. Therefore if we are sure that he is right we can start campaigning today and I can assure you anything is possible by the time of the poll. Let us not have a closed system where we think only one or two should be considered- every citizen has only one vote and if we collectively want real change then Miyanda or a coalition of such calibre can really safe this country.

  36. # 40 Unfortunately or fortunately, politiks don’t work like that. There were better people at the time of KK, FTJ, LPM and even the incumbent RB, but the four went on to become prezidents.

  37. a little late wouldn’t you say? “they will only field candidates in constituencies in which they are confident of victory”. Which ones are these?

  38. The General is a Joker. He has never campaigned nor offered solutions to the many issues affeting this country. Today, he wakes up with amanongo in his eyes to shout that I’m standing. I had big respect for this general. But when he started the Village Concept Nonsense and other foolish comments I knew he was a wrong once upon a time VP. I know the weed he smokes is potent (from Chibolya) in Lusaka. It clouds and smokes his mind. Not even Angela his wife will vote for him. He has become a clown. Join mad Siulapwa

  39. miyanda back off you what just to split the votes you have been domant all this time and you expect to be president??? Dreamer
