Sata on to Nevers Mumba

Time Posted: November 16, 2011 5:00 pm

Former High commissioner to Canada Dr.Nevers Mumba

Allegations of financial irregularities at the Zambian mission in Canada have disturbed President Michael Sata.

The President is concerned that information obtained so far suggests serious financial impropriety at the Mission in Toronto, which is under the supervision of Dr Nevers Mumba.

The President hopes that Dr Mumba’s impending visit to Zambia will provide law enforcement agencies an opportunity to engage him on the financial matters at the mission, he supervised as High Commissioner until his recent recall.

Mr SATA disclosed that Dr Mumba has been resisting his recall but now intends to come home on a private visit for some political engagements.

The President hopes Dr Mumba’s visit is self sponsored.

Mr Sata says the state shall recover from Dr Mumba any taxpayer’s money that would be spent on this purely private adventure.

Dr Mumba is among some former government officials being considered for the MMD presidency following former president Rupiah Banda’s abrupt retirement from politics after his September 20 polls defeat.

Well Mumba is a Zambian citizen and I believe that it is within the Zambian law to recall any of its citizens that may be deemed ‘needed’ by the state, or else encounter them from wherever they are, through INTERPOL. I dont think Mumba’s questionaing should be a problem then. Why does it seem as though the govt cannot get Mumba to come and attend to concerns pertaining him, really?? Not the story that we have been given here . . . And if Mumba is a wanted guy, why should he willingly come to Zambia on a privately funded trip, ohjnly to hand himself over to police questioning?? hmmmm?????

Hmm, Law enforcement agencies? Shouldn’t this matter be handled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs? And should it take THE WHOLE president to point this out? Where is the Minister of Foreign Affairs?
I’m sure the president is too busy to be concerned with this non-issue. If Dr. Mumba is to be recalled, then simply recall him. Send the new Ambassador over and let life continue.
    Simple as that.
On the issue of financial misappropriation; we need to have better controls on our money – this is not a Mumba problem, or an embassy problem, but a Zambian problem. When money is allocated to a ministry/agency/department it only makes sense that that money should be accounted for and action should be taken when more money should be pumped it, taken out, or scrapped.
    Simple.

Why is there such a shortage of sensible people like you in Zambia? Much of zambia’s problems are lack of accountability on the part of most people and poor oversight mechanisms. The trouble one finds is that people are quick to point fingers at individuals rather rather seek strengthening corporate governance and oversight. I agree, this is by no means a Mumba or even, dare I say, a Sata problem. I hope the President gets to learn this soon.

Does the president really know what his key accountabilities are? I am beginning to have very serious doubts. The best thing is to let the appropriate officers like the auditor general produce the financial reports and statements to bring out the supposed irregularities. I am becoming more and more convinced that the person who is carrying himself as president is Guy Scott and not MCS. Guys, this is where education makes a difference. MCS cannot do details because of his level of education. I  am sure even diplomats have a code of conduct and practice.

Financial misuse was there at the mission here in Canada, i remember visiting one of those people who work at the High Commission and one of them told me that ‘Pastor’ once sent a driver from Ottawa to Toronto to wait for him at the airport while he flew from Ottawa to Toronto. Now guys, Toronto is 4 hrs drive from Ottawa did he really need to send an empty car to meet him at the airport in Toronto when he could have simply gone there by road in the same car, So the government paid for Gas and plane ticket. When he was done with his business in Toronto, the driver dropped him off at the airport and drove the empty car back to Ottawa while the so called pastor flew above him. Woow, i wonder if thats what the US ambassador to Zambia does when he is visiting Kitwe????

Even if these financial irregularities are true, this President does not have the credibility to make make pronouncements that the public can rely upon. He is an embarrassment to the nation merely for the fact that he, has head of state, finds himself publicly dealing with issues that other wings/ministries and or departments should be dealing with. That in itself simply shows that he is victimising individuals that are potential opponents in an attempt to discredit them. But they are all of the same feathers in my view.

Mumba is craft and I don’t think I can give him a presidential vote. He is fallen from the pulpit and anything can be spoken of him. He is no longer influential as he used to be when he was a Pastor. Any Christian in his/her right sense can not give him the respect he once had when he was standing for God. Now he is interested in money and money and money. You remember, he was among those beneficiaries from Banda’s presidency. Before he was sent to Canada, he was among the brown envelop recipients from Mr. Rupiya Banda and his story was in the News papers. You can say this and that but the truth of the matter is; Mumba is corrupt and cannot lead Zambia. If he wants to lead a corrupt MMD, that up to the members of the MMD. as for me and many Zambians, he is not a factor.

The smear campaign of this man of God has started – Why would an entire president with such huge national responsibilities and poverty issues to address, concern himself with the unconfirmed conduct of a second level civil servant. Such an issue should be dealt with by either the Permanent Secretary of the foreign affairs ministry or at ministerial level. My conclusion is Nevers Mumba is definitely a threat to His Excellency The President Micheal Sata. Its evident too that the president has the worst advisers ever because on a daily basis his weaknesses and insecurities are exposed to such a level that hardly 90 days after elections the majority of us his supporters are almost calling for impeachment. Almost certain that the 90 Day theory is really about the time frame of an MCS presidency

I will tell you that people who normally use the Word of God in vain their end come sooner or later. Am working in a country were there is little Word of God am so I also find time to preach and encourage people to give(tithes/offerings) not for my benefit but for their own good Apostle Paul in the Bible, puts it. This could be Never’s second chance to be president of Zambia, he missed the first due to insurbodination to Levy. Levy eneded up dying on RB instead of nevers.

This time, nevers does not have to be surbodinate to Sata, he simply has to tell him to fk-off and get MMD presidency, oppose him till the end. In other words Nevers failed the ‘surbodination’ tst, he needs to pass the ‘balls’ test to be president. He may fail again depending on how he behaves.

The Church in Zambia should not slumber in praying for our President who always mis-times his corruption disclosures. Sata is subjecting law enforcement agents to political pressure by directing them to quiz Nevers. Sata should have asked the Auditor to submit a full list of missions to law enforcement agents, so that thet investigate and arrest all the culprits without doing it in piece-meals. Fighting corruption the way Sata is doing it looks more political than economical and resembles the Chiluba way of doing things. Why did he sack all the D.Cs and decide to give a job to Japhen Mwakalombe and Emmanuel Mwamba? Sata’s actions also indicate that he is a corrupt person.

He is micro-managing everything and everyone; and that aint gonna cook it. Fellow Zambians, sad to say, there’s deep trouble coming for Zambia. All because of Micael Sata. I am deeply disappointed Mr. President. You have no vission for Zambia. Period.

This is the working of the Roman Catholic Church and its Bishop who are now influencing every thing that Sata is doing at State House.

Nevers Mumba has never done anything wrong whatsoever the only thing he has done wrong: is being the Person who may be elected MMD President and being a Christian Member of the Pentecostal Church which supported the declaration of Zambian as a Christian Nation. The Roman Catholic Church OPPOSED the declaration of Zambia as a Christian Nation but Pentecostal churches supported the declaration!

Roman Catholic Church and its BISHOPS are PARANOID about the things that were said about them regarding what happened in Rwanda AND Roman Catholic PRIESTS who were accused of being involved in the GENOCIDE in Rwandan.

    STOP IT Roman Catholic Bishops!

    #57 Italian Bunga Bnga (Original),

Even evil Roman Catholic Bishops are original Italian where they used to persecute Protestant Christians like the APOSTLE in the bible where they used to kill them! Stay true to your originality man that is persecuting innocent Christians!

This is disappointing. If they need to question him, why not send people to Canada where the records are? how do they expect him to answer questions about finances in Zambia when all the records are in Canada. Sata is being petty. Doesnt he have enough workk to do? Where are the police?
I had a lot of respect for the new IG Dr Martin Malama but I think he is now very compromised. Its very sad. Despite his earlier pronouncements, its appears MCS will continue the trend of using state agencies to pursue personal vendettas. I fear for mother Zambia. 90 days are running Mr President. there is more to do than just rant and rave at every press conference.

All these are mistakes made by Dr. mumba. At first he almost refused to come back to Zambia until forced by the Govt.Upon coming back now stands under MMD presidency to fight back President Sata. Its clear that he wants to use this platform to critisize the Govt when he’s supposed to his christianity by speaking of new developments for the good of this country.I think i agree with Mr Kabimba for the President not to follow him coz we are not interested with that as Zambians.A Christian using words like Punch to Punch where in the Bible, when the Bible says do not turn evil with evil but with the word of God.Why showing the nation that there’s bitterness btw the two when they can meet in private and embrace each other for the nation.
