Police in Nakonde district have arrested a 37 year old man for allegedly killing his one year old child.

According to police sources, the accused Joseph Sichone of Katozi village in chieftainess Waitwika’s area, got wind of a rumour that his wife has been having an affair with another man within the same village.Sichone had been on separation with his wife for a week.

On the fateful day Sichone is said to have sent his 3 year old step daughter to the market before strangling the one year old boy to death.

The toddler’s mother is said to have found her baby bleeding profusely from the nose.

Neighbours narrated that they heard the baby crying inside the house immediately after Sichone entered the house. When the crying ceased the neighbours saw Sichone walking out of the house.

Members of the public immediately set out to look for Sichone whom they later found and handed over to the police.

The Sichone is said to have confessed to murdering the toddler and added that it was no-ones concern as had he killed is his own biological child and had spared the other child because she was not his biological child.

This angered everyone including the onlookers who descended on him and forced him to take the dead body to the police station. The body of the toddler is currently laying in the mortuary awaiting a postmortem.

  4. This man should be hanged, this is pure animalism. What is the resaon forwarded for his action? what did the kid do? Does he suspect the kid is not his and it is for the other TONGA man going out with his wife? ubunama…

  5. No.1 kumawa, who told you that nakonde or the name Sichone is Bemba?Fweba >Babemba twalimilwaka imitwe elo tayakapole mpaka fye mukafwe. Note that Nakonde does not belong to Bemba tribe weshilu we.

  6. Sad indeed.I hope the man is fully aware of the implications of what he has done.Normally, when death occurs through planned violence like suffocation, being strangled, deliberate poisoning, or any other unjust painful way ie deliberate abortion, such souls do not normally rest in peace for a long time, due to the painful and unjust manner in which they are made to leave the human habitation. In spiritual life, the soul goes beyond the age of a person.I hope the man is fully aware of the implications of what he has done.

  7. People lighten up and don’t get upset when some say it’s a Bemba man. Everyone knows Nakonde is not Bemba area.Did you notice that someone says does he suspect the child is for the other Tonga man? It’s unlikely that the other man would be Tonga. This is a Namwanga village. It’s all in good fun. Am laughing my head off (not about the incident but about these ethnic comments).

  8. No.14 Have you killed a human being before? how do u know all that? POLICE another culprit for investigations and he is even bemba eh a relative to sichone.

  9. @1 & 9, There is no such name “Sichone” in Bemba but Namwanga. Please educate yourselves with names and tribes before trading insults to Bembas on the Blog.

  10. SAD, the innocent child..without blame and guilt have to die for his mother wicked and shameful act. the blame should be shared equally by the father and mother because the mother is the cause of the of this death. Jesus died for us because he loved us.
