Dr. Scott says unemployment still remains the biggest challenge in Zambia.

He was speaking on Frank Mutubila’s Mid-morning television programme on ZNBC on Saturday.

And Dr. Scott says investors have been re-assured that there is a genuine fight against corruption after the PF took over government.

He says investors have also been reassured that the PF government has a genuine respect for private property and that they will continue investing into the country’s various economic sectors.

The Vice President explained that he has received a number of reports from investors indicating that they are pleased with government’s genuine fight against corruption.

And Dr. Scott says government will sustain the fight against corruption.

  1. If LT quoted VP Guy Scott correctly, then in other words PF Govt presently does NOT have a mechanism which will help create more job opportunities in the country. They say they are devising one only now. Not revising or updating a preexisting plan, no, but devising. Shocking and simply unbelievable. How do these guys sleep at night knowing fully well they’ve been lying so blatantly?

  2. @Brabus, that’s indeed truelly shocking. The VP is actually saying the PF did not have a plan to creat jobs when they came into power. They are devising plans now. That jus conforms 90 day promises were bogus.

  3. Guys, not all plans that are in a party’s manifesto will fit into the situation that is obtaining on the ground. It only works when you take over a perfectly functioning. We should all realize that trends change everyday and if they do,some plan has to be devised to help.

  4. Why do you always have to run to foreign investors, when are we going to have faith in our local investors and local entrepreneurs? Not everyone wants to be a street vendor.

Even the most the world’s advanced and developed economies are underpinned by local entrepreneurs, they know the market and the culture of the country. The government should be focused on encouraging and empowering  the locals first make it favourably for them to do business in the country, incorporate protectionists policies if you have to, that’s where your answer to job creation is, right thereon your doorstep.

  5. These guys did not have plans for job creation before they came to power. The 90 days development rhetoric was just a hoax.

  6. ” He says investors have also been reassured that the PF government has a genuine respect for private property ”

Does the PF also have respect for the taxes collected from Zambia’s middle class?

Because they are being taxed instead of the mines. As are western middle and working class people and ordinary companies, when the taxes their submit are transferred from their government to the Zambian government.

And all this, so that the transnational corporations don’t have to pay taxes.

Why are the mines different? Why don’t they have to pay their taxes or share profits with their shareholders like ZCCM-IH? Why are they ‘protected’, as the mob would say.

  7. ” he Patriotic Front government is devising mechanisms, which will help create more job opportunities in the country. ”

That’s just neoliberal bs. How are those jobs going to be paid for? Not with mining taxes? Is the country going to borrow more, as the former Finance Minister suggested?

And whoever said that Zambians are to be satisfied with jobs, and not actual wealth?

The mines are a national asset, they belong to everyone, and to give away even a single cent is theft. Now we are supposed to accept that not only won’t they share profits, but they won’t even pay taxes on them?

    Care to explain?

  8. If the PF is so respectful of property rights, why then is it completely disrespectful to the property of the Zambian people?

Zambia’s copper ore is being stolen.

If the PF is so respectful of property rights, why it is completely disrespectful of the earnings of the Zambian people, including the taxes they take from them? Why does it allow only the middle class to be taxed, and make up the difference with taxes from middle class and working people abroad, also known as ‘Donor Aid’?

  9. We have to be *****s to continue trusting politicians who conned their way to power. Promised so many things in 90 days and delivered none, absolutely nothing!

  10. Decision making involves options and search for data then choose the best option and implement it . This is what pf is doing but shalow minded pipo will se they never had a plan.

  11. A pack of proper jokers with a white boy for a “front”. Just groping in the dark – not a clue! Chimbwi no plan!

  12. Mr VP: Just admit that you don’t know what you are there for.You just closed Zambezi Airlines which had more than 150 employees and today you want to claim that you are creating employment opportunities? To hell baba. You should have first maintained what you have and create more in addition to that.

  13. Interesting from these kaponyas. Pipo are playing with other pipo’s lives in Zambia. We really need to change for the better with a real change not change where you keep on rotating these chaps thru various positions. Mr Chikwanda was a finance minister 20 yrs ago and he is back.

  14. Mr VP thanks for the closing joke of the year….
For a white boy with a PhD you really look like an *****.
To wake up on 25th Dec and say you are devising plans to create jobs in the middle of the worst economic criss the world has ever seen. Am sure next year Zambia will send a man to the moon.

  16. Haters and racists. Shame on you. No matter how much you hate, PF rulez. MMD did not do squat. UPND was a better party under Mazoka. Chipimo is an under 3. Mutati is a horny dude. Mumba is a religious fraud. Jobs are not created the way you make a pot of nshima. The Engeneering moron. Tell me how you wold create jobs.

  17. Ladies and gentlemen, creating jobs does not happen overnight like ukusaba ubowa nangu ukutola amasuku. It happens by opening up the economy and creating a conducive atmosphere for new old and new investors. Even the world’s greatest economy-the USA has trouble creating employement. MMD went to sleep and allowed unemployment to grow. Surely, surely 20 years of sleeping cannot be corrected in a few days. Let’s just give the PF-led GRZ a change to sort this out. I am confident they will.

  18. Too much pronouncements. Will wait and see..one thing for sure is that they will not be pointing at MMD’s wrongs but their achievemnets.
