Zambia will face Sudan in Bata this Saturday in the quarterfinal of this year’s Africa Cup.

This is after Sudan beat winless Burkina Faso 2-1 in Bata this evening in their final group B match to finish runners-up to pool toppers Cote d’Ivoire.

Sudan have four points, five less that Cote d’Ivoire but level with Angola.

Sudan usurped Angola from second place on goal difference after the Palancas Negras lost 2-0 to Cote d’Ivoire in the other Group B top two decider played in Malabo.

Zambia and Sudan’s meeting this weekend will be one of two confirmed encounters this year between the two sides.

The two teams will also meet on June 1 in Khartoum in a 2014 World Cup Group D opening qualifier.

  1. SUDAN ARE TALL AND PHYSICAL (AND DARKER). WE CAN OUT-CLASS THEM WITH SWIFT PASSES AND STRONG RUNS. I AM HAPPY WITH OUR DEFENCE SO FAR.

  2. I HOPE THE COPPER BULLETS BOYS WILL NOT UNDERRATE ANY TEAM AHEAD. THE ENTHUSIASM THEY HAVE AS A TEAM IS THE SAME ZEST THE REST OF THE PLAYERS HAVE. PREPARE ADEQUATELY FOR THE SUDANESE. ALL THE BEST GUYS!

  3. Angola would have wired us…they are so unpredictable yet they have given us painfull games from the time Kalusha missed the famous penaulty

  4. If Zambia misses THIS opportunity to go for semis, they have themselves to blame. Sudan did not outplay Burkina Faso. Both goals were a result of simple Defensive Errors by Burkina Faso. In other words Sudan is NOT a strong team, they are beatable, comfortably. We are lucky to avoid Ivory Coast.

  5. The Sudanese are tall, I hope our chaps do realize this and avoid too many aerial passes as they may be outclassed for headers. Bola pansi and quick passes as @ 2 observes!

  6. I do not see why Zambia can not reach the semi-finals. So far the boys have exceeded expectations. They also seem not to be easily intimidated by the other teams, which I think is key. If anyone can remember the 94 game against Nigeria, our players became intimidated by the ‘big names’ and were not cohesive until the final minutes of the game. It was great to see Chisamba in the last game showing us what he can do. Good luck to Chipolopolo.

  7. if ever there was a chance for the chipolopolo boys to shine like in the good old days, this is it…. it appears all too easy with sudan and that really scares me. i hope we don’t become too complacent in that game; we should also maintain our stamina throughout the 90minutes plus. awe shuwa am too excited, nearly gave up on footie after arsenal performances. chipolopolo boys have awaken the armchair, overzealous supporter in me. GO CHIPOLOPOLO BOYS!!!!!!! \:d/:d:)>-

  8. In your headline you said semis and your main story you say quarter final so which is which, this poor journalism.you are misleading people we haven’t yet reached the semi finals until when we beeat sudan

  9. These teams that come 4rm war torn countries r dangerous so zambia shud b careful n thez no unda dogs we r all in the knockout stages so good luck boys shine!

  10. Mexican,……You are very right. This is our chance to scoop this cup which has eveded us for so long.

Undoubtedly, Sudan alelonga on saturday.Come Ivory coast, Ghana, etc we have to get to the last two.

    VIVA CHIPS BOYS!!!

  11. One other thing l am happy about the coach is that he is using young players who have the urge to succeed footballwise…Therefore, they are putting in all they have-Compaered to teams like Ivory C with a bunch of rich guys who may not sacrife their legs, lest they dont partake in Champion’s leagues.

    GO GO BOYS!!

  12. Listen to me and hear me well my boys; Angola presumed they would be through, very regardlessly! In soccer, make no presumption imwe!!! Strong teams have lost to the weakest teams before. When the whistle blows on saturday, stake your lives on the ball and play like you are playing against the greatest team on earth. However you play, it is none of my concern, just make sure you give us more victories.

  13. let us not be overzealous for nothing but work extremely harder to achieve what soccer fans in zambia have been crying for. To me this is Zambia’s cup if only the boys concentrate and avoid lapses. Let them bear in mind that the stage they have entered is washala washala. You snooze you loose!!! UTILIZE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BECOME CHAMPIONS.!!!!!

  14. it has now been proven true that God is indeed with us and he is yet to do more for us.zambia players understand each other very well and we have better football than sudan,so lets be careful by doing everything with calm.we shall anyway beat sudan 2-0.i adviz the players and all zambians to be prayerful and wait and see what God is doing for zambia this time.

  15. God has given us this opportunity to win the Africa Cup. He has removed Egypt, Cameron, Nigeria out of the way. He has also reserved Ivory Coast for the last day. We are beating Sudan then Ghana. We will fight to the end with Ivory Coast.

  16. #2 It’s the South Sudanese who are “darker”, and #8 “defensive errorz” are part of the game. If for instance FC Bacelona make a “defensive error” while playing against Konkola Mine Police, newspaper headlinez would read “Konkola Shock Barca”!
I hope Honour Janza waz watching the Sudanese/Burkinabe game considering that Renard and Bumu… were at the Ivory/Angola encounter.

  17. Chipopolo has very bright prospects at this tournament, but players should take one game at a time. Right now, their focus should be on defeating sudan within the first half of the game on Saturday and without causing us undue anxiety. After that, they can start thinking of a semi final with Ghana, whom we are not scared of. Apart from a few glimpses of skill from Dede Aye and Asamoah Gyan, Ghana does not appear to be a team to lift the trophy.
We could meet Gabon or Ivory Coast and going by the game with Angola yesterday, our boys can carry the dayand bring home the cup.

Whatever happens henceforth in Equatorial Guinea/Gabon, I will be at the Airport to receive our heros.

  18. Can you imagine losing to Sudan…This is a tense game. Oh my God, maybe I should just watch it home rather that my favourite joint. I see someone throwing a glass of beer through the window….Boys you just have to win this one if Zambia needs to continue keeping the peace it so lovely enjoys. Go boys Go!

  19. Win or Lose on Saturday,My Team Zambia is the Greatest you have God Given talent my Boys that has shone throug, watching you on tele is an emotional rollercoster I can compare to anything, you bring joy, pain anguish, anger,Elation, tears or rolled into 90 minutes,So Boys Sudan is there for the taking, come Saturday make us dance in the streets Celebrating reaching the Semis!!!

  20. GO! GO! GO! BOYS! THE SKY IS THE LIMIT! THIS IS YOUR TIME FOR THE CUP TO COME TO SOUTHERN AFRICA ATLEAST,PLEASE! GO!GO!GO! BOYS!

  21. I fear for Chris Katongo, if he does not perform well, they will cry for his crucifixion they way Zambians have tried to kill Kalusha…..Chris K,please play your game and enjoy it,Zambians are ungrateful *****s,given examples in the likes of Mushota and Nachula.

  22. Caution bane, let the team treat this game like a cupfinal. Sudan never got to the quarters by chance, they held Angola! so while we may be thinking this game is easy, we might be in for a surprise if we make the mistake of underating Sudan… so lets go in there on Saturday and put in a good shift….

    • You are very right, as much as we are in support of our country, we must be very careful. Angola is a good team, but being beaten by Sudan……. Let us think and advise the boys to be very careful and put all their strength on Saturday. This game may not be a walk over.

  23. Gallant Chipolopolo Boys March on! First up on the menu was Senegal who were shot down 2-0. Next up was Libya, who twice went ahead of us and we performed a Lazarous Feat and came back from the dead to draw the match in very very difficult conditions. Next up was the loud mouthed EG, who were shot down in the 67Min by our Sergent Katongo! This Saturday we unleash the Shakuwaha on the Crocodiles and Zambia is going to march on to the Semi Finals….

  24. #31 ba Peter, I think Chris katongo is Warrant Officer fimo fimo! Anyway, that trophy is definitely landing at KK international Airport.

  25. Yes i am here once more with my own prediction that Zambia Chipolopolo shall be crowned Afcon 2012 Champions.come 12/02/2012.looking forward that day when Katongo shall lift that cup.may God keep on guiding you boys until that day you shall crowned the champions of Africa.what a day that shall be…

  26. If ever,if ever,if ever Zambia has had a chance of lifting the cup, this is it!
The chance is so clear that I can see it around the bend.

After seeing that Zambia was to meet Sudan,Mushota my homosexual pal was mumbling like a hyena

    Thanks

  27. Yaba!! Tense stuff!! Jus hope the kafwafas in camp with wene clifford and co.being sent home doesn’t upset the rhythm!

  28. They say apatebeta Lesa tapafuuka cushi. I can see the smoke this time. Zambia must go this time, they must go to glory land. All indications are giving me Zambia as new African champions.Go Zambia go and get that elusive trophy for us.

    • This will not be an eazy game. Anyway im a prophet. It is Zambia 1 Sudan 0 in the quarters, then Zambian 1 Ghana 0 in the semis, finally, Zambia 1 Ivory Coast 0 in the finals. Zambia takes the cup for the fallen heroes of 1993.

  29. sakajila dt z ur opinion, for us true zambians sudan JST has to pak nd go aft 90mins of play on saturday. de game wil b tuf bt ZAMBIA CHIPOLOPOLO!!!!!!!!!!!! GOI RENA, GO ZAMBA ND CONQUER.

  30. Do not get fooled these games are very difficult. Im a prophet. It is Zambia 1 Sudan 0 in the quarters, then Zambia 1 Ghana 0 in the semis, finally, Zambia 1 Ivory Coast 0. Zambia takes the cup home for the fallen heros of 1993.

  31. I am very happy that The Chipolopolo are now in Quoter Finals I wish them all the best & I hope that Mbesuma wil be able to start the game, us we are going to crash Sudan on sat.

  32. Hi guys, saturday you will see the real Nile Crocodiles, don`t underate sudan team like what did Burkina Faso..11 againest 11 guys in 90 mins, not less not more..let`s meet after d match to chat.. iam sure you will not be there…

  33. Yeah Go Zambia Go……..Lets show the world that we are there. We have already taught Sudan a lesson the semi- finals and we knew it even before the match. 3 – 0 is not a joke. LETS BRING THE CUP HOME.Go Zambia Go.

  34. The cnopect of odious debt is much talked about, but to my knowledge no one has ever tried to actually use it in a New York court. Specifically, the US government, when it was restructuring the Saddam-era debts of Iraq, never tried to use it. So in one sense it’s never been tested. But basically it simply isn’t a statute on the books, so it be almost impossible for a New York judge to simply conjure it out of thin air.

  35. A person essentially lend a hand to make severely articles I’d state. That is the very first time I frequented your website page and up to now? I surprised with the analysis you made to create this particular publish incredible. Magnificent activity!
