Low AFCON rating was a Blessing For Zambia-Kazabu

Share

Faz life member Luxon Kazabu believes the rating of Zambia as outsiders before the Africa Cup commenced has helped the team to perform well at the tournament.

Kazabu said the rating of Zambia as pre-tournament under-dogs motivated the players to put up a good display at the 16-team competition.

“The underdogs tag has helped Zambia to perform very well at the Africa Cup, when you are rated as underdogs no one pays attention to you and in the process you hammer them,” he said.

Kazabu said so far he was impressed with the performance of Chipolopolo at the AFCON.

“The boys have done very well so far and one hopes the team will keep the momentum,” the Nkana Parliamentarian added.

Kazabu observed that this year’s Africa Cup is open suggesting any team can win the tournament.

“Tournament favorites Ghana and Ivory Coast are not posing a threat to any team hence any team can win the cup,” he said.

Zambia face Sudan in the quarterfinals this Saturday in Bata hoping to qualify for their first last four place since 1996 in South Africa where they won bronze.

  1. No coment!!!!, Suprised. You just enjoy politics. Anyway, I agree with Kazabu, the guys have the potential to take the cup home. Ghana yesterday didnt play a good game, even I vory coast is beatable.

  2. Well said but also, don’t leave out the technical team for the commendable job they are doing. Renard and his bench are one of the best to ever handle that position. They are resolute, focused, analytical, and strategic. Viva Renard, Viva Chipolopolo 2012, Viva Zambia!

  3. ITS UNFORTUNATE THAT NOW ALMOST EVERY AFRICAN COUNTRY IS FOCUSSED ON SEEING ZAMBIA EITHER WIN OR LOSE AS IT HAS GAINED POPULARITY FROM ITS PREVIOUS PLAYED 3 GAMES. I WISH OUR COPPER BULLETS WERE STILL UNDER THE GROUND JUST TO BE COMING OUT WITH SURPRISES.

  4. So now that the players know that they are no longer underdogs they will not perform well-I am just applying your logic Kazaba. This rating of Zambia as an underdog should come to a stop. We have been to the Africa Cup a zillion times. There is no team in Africa that we have never beaten at a given time-Nigeria, Cameroon, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, South Africa,-Some of them (including Senegal) we have beaten more than they have beaten us. An underdog should be a team that qualifies to the Africa cup for the first time like Botwana or a team that last won a match at the AFCON more than thirty years ago like Libya and Sudan. How can one rate Zambia as an underdog to be below Equatorial Guinea and Libya? Going by past performances at AFCON, Zambia should have been the favorite in the group

  6. I agree with Mr Kazabu… The team played under less pressure because even fans here in Zambia had completely written off this team…On National Watch featuring Franklin Tembo jnr, Matimba Nkonje, Chiko and Nsama Chisupa before the AFCON started, it was very clear that even our so called Soccer Analysts has fallen short to bring this aspect. A caller even got irritated that the analysts were demoralising some fans who still had faith in the team. It was really evident the Chipolopolo were written off even by their very own. Franklin was clearly baised, and even worse the likes of Reuben Kamanga have disgraced themselves with their hollow analysis….the team is still playing under less pressure and all will be well. I will not be sad otherwise.

  7. Can’t agree more with #4 in a way. In my veiw, the 16 teamz at the AFCO 2012 should be ranked 1-16 in Africa and like-wize sloted in the FIFA ratingz accordingly.

  8. Ba Kazubu today you have agreed, awe sure!! You thought that kalu cant lift this country up, but today waimwenamo kazabu, shame on you!! Kalu is here to build this country’s football fratenity and not what Andrew Kamanga and his entourage of Simata Simata wanted to do!! Go Zambia Go Chipolopolo
