Zambia has the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations title for the first time by beating tournament favourites Ivory Coast on penalties 8-7 in a penalty shoot-out after the game in Libreville ended goalless.

After 14 penalties, Stoppila Sunzu scored the winning goal for Zambia after goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene saved Kolo Toure’s spot-kick and Gervinho blasted over. Rainford Kalaba missed for the Zambians.

Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba missed a penalty for his side in the 70th minute when he side-footed the ball over the cross-bar.

Zambia dominated the game and should have scored in regulation time but failed to make the most of their chances, with Ivorian goalkeeper Boubacar Barry pulling off a number of excellent saves.

In the penalty shoot-out it was Zambian goalkeeper Mweene who was the hero for his side as he not only saved one penalty, he also scored the fifth for his side.

The Ivorians are the first team not to win the competition even though they did not concede a single goal. They also lost the 2006 final against Egypt on penalties.

Zambia’s first African title has came in the same city where 18 Zambian internationals died in a plane crash in 1993 in the country’s worst sporting disaster.

  1. Haven t we had enough of these headlines

Yes congratulations, but my fiance just said you will be the shortest ever African champions in history! Proud of that? NO

So shall we move on, talk about PHD’s Masters etc?

I want to move on as soon as possible

    Thanks

    • you always talk about phd or masters but i always wonder from the level of your contributions if you have even a bachelors. they are so shallow. please be honest to yourself.

    • HATERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! why should we talk about those things today when they’re not on the Agenda! just give credit where its due!

    • stupid, *****, bitch please keep the nonsense to yourself why do you want to spoil our mode who is interested with masters and PHD yours. in fact you just clean toilet where you are. please continue cleaning toilet in Europe.

    • I was thinking about saying something nasty to you Mushota but then i realized you’re a waste of sperm, luckily you jumped out of the condom and now we have to live with your stupidity… OH well…

    • Mushota?????   Who is this bitch ? she is talking shit all over the net,, Bitch keep quiet and suck some dick,,,,,,,,    CHIPOLOPOLO  4  LIFE  BITCH

    • If you hate Zambia this much, why do even come to this site,? hello..! its lusaktimes. for proud Zambians and proud friends of Zambia not a useless fool like you. get a life!. or wait a minute, you got no life thats why you keep coming back to this website to post your foolishness. sorry.!

    • I am not a Zambian but boy I will celebrate this day for the rest of my life! As for this *****, Mushota, I just wonder what hole she has come from. Hope she gives us a break and concentrate on getting as many PHDs as she wants. Not that they are of much use anyway in the hands of a certified *****!

    • Mushota, I wonder if you are a proud Zambian, it is really saddening to learn of your hate for the boys and the Nation as a whole. Wishing you all the best with your PHD and Masters

    • Dear bloggers i kindly ask you to resist responding to mushota she is not worthy the time she has received a lot of insults but still can’t change kumulabakofye kuti akushalisha kumulu. i don’t insult but right now ifyo ndeumfwa awe sure nimutukaula kale.

    • Talk about your PHD – Pull Him Down, always trying to pull the country down. We don’t need you, we don’t want you and stay the hell away from this site.

    • I am no Zambian, but i am very impressed with the Zambian National team’s overall Nations cup perfomance. They deserve it, no doubt about that. Most of South Africans went beserk after the final spot kick. The Copper Bullets are true African champions.

Judging by Mushota’s comment, you must be an alien. Your reasoning capacity is too shallow, the PHDs you are talking about are irrelevent to the topic at hand here. You are a genuine five star physchopath beyond human explanation, period. Another wastage of a blackman’s skin.

    • Doesnt it bother you that you have been fiance for so many yrs. The man has realised that there is no substance in you. Fience till you will be 60yrs young and still studying for a PHD. Truly if you had something in you that guy should have married you by now.

We are celebrating an achievement and we will congratulate you on your wedding day and the day you get your PHD if it comes to pass, but looking at the rate you are going you will be a student/fience for sometime to come.

    • Girl, seriously….. for the record a lot of us are female and quite educated. Newsflash education has no bearing on the topic at hand. I’m beginning to wonder what kind of intelligence you have because an intellegent person in the right frame of mind would seriously not write such rubbish. Like they say you can’t take the hood out of some people no matter what they attain. Wakey wakey this is Zambia’s moment and noone (including you) is going to spoil it. Your comments are seriously not appreciated. Humble yourself woman!

    • Who are you & your fincee that we should be mindful of when the whole world is talking about us? While you’re making babies and dreaming of PHDs & Masters, Zambia is making History and fulfilling it’s dreams right in front of your face!!!

    • Mushota:
      1. Shortest ever African Champions? Yes, but does it bother you? But why do you ask, dont you know the new AFCON cycle?

      2. Move on talk about pHDs and Masters? What for? don’t you recognize that there is a time for everything and every season? Since you appear not to, friend, with all your Master/PHD, there is more hope for a fool and than for you; yea, more hope for a dead dog than for you.

  2. It was our time. There were just too many coincidences this time round. We needed to honour the galant team which perished in Lebraville. What a befitting honour for the country especially that no one outside Zambia gave us a chance!

  3. Great win over a supposedly more fancied side full of EPL stars. This victory serves to show that if we put our divisions,be they tribal, political or regional divisions and pull together towards national goals we can overcome seemingly daunting tasks. Its a deserving win in memory of those who perished in Gabon in ’93.

  4. Chipolopolo Bullet! we have done it at last. GRZ, the boys have delivered please organise a heroes welcome back home because this win is not only for Zambia but our friends from southern africa and China who have stood shoulder to shoulder with us to ensure that the victory was in our hands. Well played boys and I’m sure our fallen heroes can finally rest in peace. It was tough out there in libreville but they could only be one winner. Thank you LORD!

  5. On behalf of Sata, I declare Monday 13th February 2012 a public holiday, especially in Southern province where they can have 2 days of celebration

  6. for once can we ignore this fool#2 other each time you answer her pipo wont differeciate who the fool is.only a fool can enjoy insults.

  7. Thank you to Mushota, all your negative comments have given us so much luck. I got worried when I didn’t see any comments from you because I thought our good omen is not here. Thank you again love and take care. Zambia’s name is etched in history as African Champions. Take care love and God bless you (Mushota), you’re a legend.

  8. Well done Chipolopolo boys, you have Burried the KK ELEVEN’s SOULS with DIGNITY. Now they can rest in Peace. Thanks to Renard and Kalusha!

  9. Mushota, you are a disgrace, just go and suck your so called fincees D.i.c.k., you slat…..By the way if you dont like the topic, read porn mags.

  10. I’m a big Aus Socceroos & Melbourne Victory fan, but TOTALLY EXCITED & HAPPY for Zambia & your amazing Chipolopolo!! Can anyone tell me where I can by a Zambia team shirt in Melbourne?

  11. wowowow it just had to come,in life never give up,just like Sata never gave up he is now in state house,Kalu never gave up,Renard never gave up,only HH should give up he s unteachable, unwinable and a wreckage of politician

  12. I never expected Zambia to win. Its a shocking result. Zambia played and defended well. I can only say congratulations. Please celebrate safely and dont waste tax payers money through wasteful celebrations. Celebrate responsibly. I just pray that this victorius result will tone down the tensions in the political arena. while you reward the players, remember to pay the farmers and build more rural health centres. Congratulations for beating the favourites. Zambia are indeed the african champions.

  13. congrats zambia the trophy belongs to all the zambians the tax payers hence needs to be floated round the country to all provinces and towns

  14. Man of the tournament: Chris Katongo
    Top scorer: Mayuka
Zambia has 4 members in CAN 2012:
Mweene, Mayuka, Sunzu, Katongo, and Kalaba (sub).

  15. Congrats Boys surely God’s favour upon us and May the souls of the departed brothers who lost their lives in Gabon now rest in peace ….Thanks you Chipolopolo.

  16. Congratulations to the soccer players, coaches and officials. We needed this win for the country and our fallen heroes. They can now rest in peace. More Chiefs should emulate the one who gave land and 2 cows to Mweene and 250 ha of land. Give these players. And gov pay them $100,000.00 each and build them a moderate house in a province of their choice. Thank you all.

  17. This is “BITTER SWEAT” and the place is right. What a great way to honor our fallen heroes.
We proved the pundits wrong. They thought we were just a” flash in the pan”; but nay, we are the real deal.  We got it!!  We`ve waited too long for this moment to come and our patience has finally paid off. David has defeated Goliath.  Nobody deserves to play in the European big leagues than our boys.WE ARE THE CHAMPS!!  RESPECT !!

    • This team has proved our former national players like Gift Kampamba u wanker never gave the Boys a chance actually the squard you played in was the worst zambia ever assembled

  18. # 2. pseudo intellectual. loser no good anna be. move on with your life and watch the rest of the country celebrate you unpatriotic selfish individual. you dont deserve t breath the same zambian fresh air as the rest of us.

  19. Feels so great to be Zambian, wouldn’t trade it for anything. We can now look to the future as I now have a Cinderella story to tell my children. Labeled as underdogs but we just turned out to be “GIANT KILLERS”.Glory be to Jesus

  20. Well done Zambia, you were bullets out there tonight. Gabon is ground zero for us Zambians, so it was destiny that we won there. This was a very special moment in our history, I think every Zambian bar one or two (the ***** who I do not even dare repeat their name #2) could feel it in their bones that this time the Cup was ours. God Bless All and always believe!

  21. But, I am extremely concerned, and to some extent worried. This new trend that has surfaced in our peaceful country is surprising. Celebrations turning violent, people dying, and just a certain kind of lawlessness that seems to prevailing. Zambians have suddenly become rather brazen in their raucous behaviour, ignoring the law and basic respect for authority and indeed others’ safety in general.

  22. This UNFORTUNATELY surfaced with the incoming of the “donchi kubeba” culture. Is this what it’s all about? Today we are celebrating and it is out of control. Next time it’ll be in protest against something the people feel is not quite “right ……. how will the powers that be control it. We need to contain this kind of thing before it spirals out of control and into something that’ll end up nasty.

  23. Congrates boyz. You have done us proud. Epashili pakuleka. mukabwekeshepo nakabili. Thrilling to see bashikulu KK hold the cup as though saying this is the cup i would have held had it not been for that plane crash.

  24. Congratulations boys you have done us proud. I would like to thank the Zambia High Commission in London for inviting us to watch the game at the mission. This was the greatest moment in my life that has been full of misery. Chipolopolo are the champions! Yes.

    • Sorry to hear your life has been full of misery.Enjoy this moment this but also know that God promises to remove all pain and misery as written at Revelation 21:3,4.Read it.

  25. We won because we played hard. Faith with work can move mountains . This is no Luck. Proud to be a Z. Way to Copper Bullets.

  26. Congratulations from another Aussie. I watched the whole match and was delighted to see Zambia deservedly win. My interest was because I worked in Mufulira 1968-71 with ex-internationals Zoom Ndlovu and George Sikazwe Also interesting to see KK at the presentation ceremony. Well done to all the guys in the winning team and to the coach.

  27. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT ZAMBIA WAS THE BEST IVORY COAST HARD NO CHANCE. ZAMBIA PLAYED VERY WEL FOR MY FOR ONE OF MY BEST TEAM TO SEE ZAMBIA PLAYING VERY WEL. I CONGRATULATE ZAMBIAN TEAM MANY UNCOUNTABLE TIMES TO BRING THE CONTINENT TROPHY TO OUR MOST AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY CALLED ZAMBIA WE ARE THE BEST AS OF NOW. GOD BLESS ZAMBIA. WHEN KAUNDA WENT THERE IT MEANT A LOT AND MICHAEL SATA NEW THAT THIS TIME THE CUP WILL COME TO ZAMBIA IN THE “PF GENERATION” NOW WHAT WILL HAKAINDE WILL SAY?

  28. HOW CAN U WRITE SUCH?? IF YOU ARE NOT ZAMBIAN PLEASE DON’T WRITE ANY THING BECAUSE TRUE ZAMBIANS WERE CRYING THRU OUT THE MATCH PLEASE LEAVE US ALONE WE WON AND NEED TO MOURN OUR DIED BOYS. OUR YOUNG BROS YOU DID IT FOR ALL ZAMBIANS WE LOVE YOU AND WILL ALWAYS DO.

  29. #2 Mushota, you truly have a malignant tumour in your humour you stinking cow. May a car full of jubilant Zambians celebrating their well deserved title put you our of your misery by running you over.

  30. Glory Glory be to God Almighty. Yes we ve made history. I am just so happy for Super KK for this moment and all the old soccer lovers. Thank you President Michael Sata, thank you Chipolopolo, Thank you Zambians where ever you are.

  31. The greatness in this win is that zambia where considered underdogs not just by the pandits even by me. But the beauty of it all is that they played great football beyond the pandits and my analysis of the boys. I wacthed in owe as they truely outplayed Ivory Cost and played the beautifull game. I just wished the goal keeper was at Arsenal. he would do some justice in any teams goal. I loved every bit of how they played. Had they lost I still would have considered them winners coz they played so beautifully. Great boys and great nation of Zambia. Thankyou all. Enjoy this win. Number 2 says they will be the shortest African champions in history. How dull can u be. Champions hold the cup for a specified period of time before another tounarment at which they are called defending champions.

  32. Finally de elephants have bin poached by de copper bullets. Congrats lads! you have finished de job of which was left by your brothers who perish in Gabon. I thank you lord 4 giving strength & courage to Zambia so that it could conquer Africa. Well done boys…its chipolopolo all de way..

  33. Iye Mushota kwena ulichipuba. Zambia are 2012 AFCON champions, no one can take that away from them.. Even 100 years from now they will still be 2012 champions. Thats history in the making, see every story has a heading, if you see its talking about soccer dont read it. Go and read something like a couple has been evicted for making noise during sex, Im surethats what you have a Phd in.

    • Thank you boys for the job well done.My sincere thanks go
Go to RB and team for the support you gave to team in qualifting stages.Am humbled that beans Sata saw it fit to witness history been made.

  34. Well done boys. God bless Zambia. Celebrate responsibly. We do not want to hear anybody died because of Soccer. Celebrate well. Ba SATA, BAKATEKA, HE, the PRESIDENT of ZAMBIA please take care of the past presidents. Two are dead I wish there were there together with the team which died in Gabon. However, even if they have gone, they worked hard as a result we have won. We have made it. God bless Zambia. It’s time for Zambia to unite together and fight poverty regardless of political affiliation. Lets move away from corruption and create weath and jobs just the way this soccer has brought us together as a great family. We have a lesson to learn from today’s match.

  35. Congrates Boys you have done us great. We have finally lifted the flat high south of the equator. Really proud to be Zambian. I need a Zambian jersey right now can someone send me one through Sepp Blatter I can collect it this week at FIFA house.Afterall It is currently the best symbol for the champs in soccer worldwide as at now.

  36. Respect from Poland!
Ivory Coast was worse team by any category, u guys run faster, were better organized in defence and attack and more aggresive. Ivorian had chances only after individual actions, like that after which when Gervinho gained the penalty. You played more like a team with great spirit.

Congrats from Poland to Zambia – Africa Champions!!! :-)

  37. Congratulations from New Zealand.

So often I had watched football in Zambia and just not making it. Celebrate as only Zambians can celebrate as one big nation.
Very proud to have been a long time resident of Zambia

  38. How nostalgic, what a feeling, what a sweet life … The Chipolopolo Boys made us proud. What a smart display of home grown talent, we out-played, out-ran, and out-classed our opponents, could have even scored in the very first minute, brilliant performance … thanks a trillion.

  39. All you gotta do is to go out there and play. Don’t worry about being underdog, or short…. Zambia! you deserve it!!!! History is not written for us, it’s made by Us……. Zambia is now the country of Champions. Africa We are’nt done yet, this is just the beginning……

  40. THANKS BOYS, AT LEAST THIS GABON CLEANS OFF THE PREVIOUS ONE OF SAD MEMORIES. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AS THOSE WHO BROUGHT GLORY BACK TO ZAMBIA, PA BWATO NE MU SOCCER!!!!!

  41. These boys believed in themselves and were not intimidated by ‘big names’. After I watched them come back twice from behind against Libya, I knew these guys were not push overs. Well done and all the best in your football careers

  42. The Lord delivered the PF victory that wonderful 23rd September 2011 night. The same God has delivered the Chipolopolo victory. Let me remind the nation that He will deliver mighty things as long as we remain faithful to Him. God’s promises for this land He will manifest. Well done Chipolopolo.

  43. Kwena ine nadabwa how can you possibly lose a tournament without conceding a single goal sure ala well done boys not a miracle just blessing we than God

Ivory cost i think have made history of not conceding a goal through out but not win it … the history was meant to be the other way round sha…

  44. Mushota don’t bother us you are not Zambian. Ulimwana wachipuba nangu ishilu. Leave us alone you *****, you will definately die soon unless Jesus never went to the cross. You fool. Why do you always talk ill of a country you don,t belong to.

  45. Well done guys. This is a well deserved win.

Politics aside!! This is for all Zambians. PF, MMD UPND etc

RB thanks for securing pre-good companies sponsors that have paved way to make it possible

SATA thanks for facilitating KK & RB to have witnessed this extra-ordinary humbling experience.

I am sure us in the Business World, we can raise funds to ensure that these guys are rewarded for their commitments and making Zambia stamp itself on the world map in football. We shall let this gesture come to pass handsomely. The team has done it without export players to major leagues in Europe.

  46. Man, wow!… can’t believe this moment. I feel like I’m dreaming and I’m in Cloud 9 or something. God is indeed great – against all odds and Zambia is the African Champions. Unbelievable, Hysteria, Euphoria – pick your word man and I feel it all right now!

  47. walala washala boiyi sorry you an action figure drogba…iyeeeeee, chipolopolo, ahahah..iyeeee
    faka manja mumwamba,iyeeeeeee,chipolopolo…..(by pompi)

    • Krishna Sir, Nice to hear from you about our village.Although we are away,we awlyas eagar to hear & see prosperity of Ghandruk and the Ghandruke.Thank you very much and hopeto hear from you very soon. Krishna Gurung Kot Gaon(residing in The U.K.)

  48. What a great day. Everything was perfect. Nice to see Guy Scott & wife, KK & Banda, Kalusha… It was a picture perfect day. I will never forget this day.

  49. Thank you Lord God, it was destined that we will win the AFCON cup in Libreville! Thank you Sata for including RB and KK in the delegation to bring back the champs and the trophy!

  50. .
History has been written that the young generations can use to get inspirations and dream larger that life. Moving forward, its time to start funding Sports Academies, whether its Football, Tennis, Boxing, Athletics…etc

This should SET PRECEDENCE to all bloggers that spend hours and hours, striking keyboards, complaining, spreading insults and just about everything blaming Mr. X, Y Z.

With everything in life, if you work hard and believe in yourself, you can bring down the mountains.

This is it, lets all learn from this experience.

  51. I was going to watch the game on ITV4 but then the chaps there started making fun of our team by saying things like

Because i cant dance i wouldn’t make it into the Zambia national team” … i thought that was very disrespectful all players have a way of celebrating there wins but it seems the whole natural world just didn’t give us a chance… but one mightier than all did well done buys

In any case i ended up watching it on euro sport and it was actually a better HD print than ITV4

  52. Congratulations to the Zambian team and Kalu and the Coach. It has reminded  West Africa that Southern Africa has arrived not via European Leagues but via the African Leagues and that you don’t need to play for Arsenal or Chelsea or Man City to win the Africa Cup..**==**==**==**==**==

  53. Please do us a favour by removing all the political articles from your page and just leave the story and pictures of the Chipolopolo (aka Copper Bullets) covering your entire page… that’s how you honour these heroes.

  54. By the way we will see Zambia sooner than the World Cup, at the Confederations Cup playing other continental champions… Go Zambia, Go!
Indeed Zambia is now on the world stage and our tourism should take advantage of this glory and benefit from it.

  55. As they say: Experts built the Titanic; amateurs built Noah’s ark. What good was the Ivorian star studded cast good for in the match up against a 40 to 1 Zambian underdog team?

  56. ON MUSHOTA

I have heard too bad info about this lady. She only needs TB JOSHUA for prayers.

besides she is not educted as you may think of.

    Prostitution is not good.

  57. Yesterday, while I was thinking about the ‘Chipolopolo vs. Elephants’ match and the prematch reviews, I stumbled on Psalm  118: 22-24.

Today, 13/02/2012, I am speechless! Who can dispute it? Yes, indeed “The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone.” The team the soccer experts wrote-off is the Champion!!!!!!!! Glory be to God.

    Be wiser, read the Bible…

  58. $5000 solid cash in my pocket!! I had 2 Ghanian friends, 2 Ivorian (couple), 1 Guineas Bissau, 2 Cameroonian, all put money on Ivory Coast. Me & my beautiful one on Zambia of course.. $5000 American dollars!!!!
I lost $100 for man of tournament, I put on Mweene. Damn!! He has was good man!!

  59. “IIyyeeeeeeeeeeeeee””” Fipolo polo!!!!!! Iyyeeeeeee!!! Fipolo polo!!!!!!

Praise be to God for allowing us to lay our saddest moment in history, to rest in this manner – giving us the chance to honour our dear departed on the shores of Gabon – win this Cup that they lost their lives for, in the quest to honor this great country!!! This team + the departed team will forever be our heroes, THE DEPARTED NEVER DIED IN VAIN!!!!! AS WE CELEBRATE, lets remember that team as we do so, & lets do so responsibly – instead of finishing a crate of Mosi tonight, strech it over the next week or two – Just be content with blowing the Vuvuzelas & chewing “ifi kondilo!!!!!”

  60. Hooo online betting I got $675.50, I put in $15 . I like America man! I like casinos, I like money. Football is a game like any other, make use of it. Next time i will connect you people to this honest-clean websites. But only if there is an exciting match.
Anyway, I am a stock-broker what else do I know?

  61. Congrats Zambia.
Please people ignore Mushota but philosophically infact,she/he could be right;remember the next Afcon is in 2013!!!!!!Dee dee when Renard was asked how he hoped to lift the cup when the team he was meeting a team that had never conceded a goal,he said you do not have to to score a goal to win a game and true to his words,it had to go to the wire.I think the talk game also did some good on our team.Remember Mweene saying he was losing no sleep over Drogba and all of them saying they were feeling No Pressure

  62. Congrats Zambia.

  73. What’s next for our boys? What do we have for them tomorrow? Is it to see them turn into street wanderers or can we as a nation formulate a strategy for our sportsmen? We all know they do not perform so well academically partly because they spend most of their youth playing soccer. It is possible for our nation to prepare them to be confident not only on the field but also on the street? Can they have business discussion with someone from say Hong Kong? Instead of only exchanging jerseys, can our players also be exchanging business cards for future contacts? I don’t want to bore you guys but with this Africanization/Globalization, we need to make some of our into boys ambassadors for our upcoming new Africa.

  74. MUSHOTA YOU ARE A GREAT FULL .ARE YOU PRETENDING TO BE BRITISH? SHAME UPON YOU. IAM SURE YOU ARE ON THE LINE WAGE OF A MINIUM WAGE IN BRITAIN £5.70 PER HOUR YOUR SHOLLOW MIND SPEAKS LOUNDR. VIVA MOTHER ZAMBIA VIVA CHIPOLOPOLO . PROUN ZAMBIAN UK .

  75. All serious Zambian soccer fans should take this very seriously coz it could be a lifetime experience, remember 54 countries compete for this prize every 24 months!!! Now we should invest in soccer development to sustain this supremacy. THANK YOU CHIPOLOPOLO !!!!

  76. Iyeee…..Chipolopolo. Drogba gets to the camera after missing a penalty against Zambia yestarday night and says “Its not me, its your TV” hahahahahaha. You should all get Samsung flat screen TVs. Am loving this.

  77. Congratulations Chipolopolo (fondly known as KK boys). Well done for a superb performance.
After all those good performances you deserve the win

  78. We thank God the Almighty for this wonderful trophy. This is the happiest moment for Zambians. Finally we can have closure on our fallen heros!!

  79. No.22 Amen to that. That’s the way to answere such people. Now we have left this matter in the hands of God. Where two or three agree there’s power.

  80. We were watching the match in a packed bar in Harare, Zimbabwe, and when Sunzu converted the deciding kick, the ‘whole’ bar went wild, people nearly hitting the roof…thank you for a great moment our dear neighbours…just letting you that you were not alone..we were together with you..

  81. it sweet to be zambian, for our fallen heroes, can FAZ or who ever is responsible make the burial site more dignified and meaningful.

  82. now that we have won, can FAZ or who ever is responsible make the burial site for our fallen heroes more dignified, build an interpretation centre or something to bring the site to life. if u are not sure of what to do go to the heroes acre in harare and see wht they did to their politicians plizzzzzz!

  83. Congratulations and you have done us proud as a country.thanks a million times for honouring our departed men who perished for this noble cause.May Our living GOD bless my country Zambia, mother of democracy in Africa.proudly Zambian…..

  84. Well done to Zambia for the victory against Ivory Coast. This momentous victory could not have come at a better time and place than Garbon. The time was just perfect. Now we can have closure after 18 years of pain following the death of our national heroes.

  85. Zambians, Congratulations!!!!!
Even us in Malawi are more than proud of you. You have done Zambia proud, you have done Southern Africa proud. Well done the Chipolopolo! This was indeed your time and a perfect moment. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

  86. Congratulations boys for a job well done. Its been long overdue.God is really Zambian at this hour.We had to learn the hard way but we have learnt our lessons. Now its time to play the best there is in the world and defend the cup in S.A.Thanx boys i have all energy this morning to teach my mathematics class.GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  87. Well, congratulations all zambians. This is a new year surprise i suppose. However, a few lessons should be noted. 1. Victory is ours if we remain united i.e. mweene, mayuka, katongo, kalaba, sunzu etc all working together to achieve a common goal. 2. There is no need to politicise sport, especially football i.e. political sloganeering should not be entertained. 3. We need to begin to tolerate each other, especially people who hold different viewpoints, and some private radio stations i.e. 87.7 and 89.1 should be asked to be proffesional whem handling issues of national importance. Good day and we will meet at the airport at eleven.

  88. How good and pleasant it is to be a zambian. Indeed the race is not just for the swift like king solomon put it but it can also be for the least counted on the continent of africa. Zambia calo cesu!

    • @ Kwa mandevu

Thank you so much for the comment, but may you please elucidate yourself. What are you sayin’ to be precise? I don’t understand what you are saying…forgive me i am no Zambian, but i love Zambian football period.

  89. just looking at the picture above has brought tears to my eyes, no joke. These guys did us more than proud and they have no idea how much they have moved people down here.

  90. Man, i can’t begin to say how am feeling, thanks to the Chipolopolo, its just a good day for me, its has been long overdue, since 1974.

  91. Chipolopolo poached the elephants and we have the tusks to prove it. Congratulations Chipolopolo, what a great day for mother Zamba, what politics cannot do in decades soccer does it in minutes, i salute you Gallant Zambians and may the souls of our fallen heros rest in peace.:d:\:d/:)>-

  92. Congratulations Zambia…i have a dream, i have a dream, that this is not the first or last but the begining of a powerful Southern African football nation to conquer everything at stake. You deserve a good public holiday. God bless.

  93. Great win for Zambia – Well Done! There might be a few ‘sickies’ come Monday – get that public holiday in quick!!

  94. congratulations zambia please this should be the beginning of good things to come for zambia as i feel we can qualify for the world cup now anything is possible with determination

  95. Zambia has shown the world that a name sheet does not matter in football, its the heart behind the play, we have rubbished all the soccer pundits who never gave us a chance especially the supersport duo of Amokachi and Mamadou, actually Mamadou predicted Ivory coast to win by 4-0, what a joker, as they say in the trade its not the size of the dog in the fight that matters but the size of the fight in the dog, this great nation Zambia has just hit the winning streak let us ride it while it lasts, WHO’S NEXT…

    • @ SHI

I fully agree with you, pertaining to these prophets of doom.[Mamadou & Amokachi ] Mamadou is another motormouth, who is always blutting junk. Mind you these guys are always in favour of west african countries. Viva Dennis Lota…very optimistic about the result of the match.

  96. This is great! With God on our side, we managed to slay the elephants and bring the trophy home! Well done Zambia! We’re so proud of our boys. They put up their best performance yesterday and they deserve the crown of Africa’s best soccer team.

  97. Nevers Mu mba is a lia r and a mon ey lau ndering ma chine

Him and the de puty Mr Nz oya are ste aling tax pa yers money. They had fired Mr Tem bo beca use he knew about this sc am and was aga inst it. They also have a office slut , Caro lina Rod- riguez who is also abus ing the money. The Ottawa Zam bian mis sion are th ieves

  98. We join you our cousins in celebrating the victory. You have not just made Zambia only proud but the whole Southern Africa. The victory is a befitting honor to the fallen heroes of the 1993 Gabon Tragedy (now their souls can rest in eternal peace). It was marvelous watching Kennedy Mweene in the posts and i kept asking myself is this Efford Chabala reincarnated. The young boys (of 21 years old) were marvelous. Thanks for trusting the youngsters to deliver. We will not complain if you repeat the same feat next year in South Africa. I was happy to see the former presidents at the finals. I salute His Excellency former president Kaunda for gracing the finals. On a lighter note May you hold a party in Chipata so we can also join you guys in celebrating the heroes.

  99. Congratulations CHIPOLOPOLO!! Well done boys, you deserved it, you worked hard for it, we are proud of you. Thank you for making the country proud!!

  100. 3 171 Achimwene zinthu zakoma…..inu kwelani bus mufike ku Chipata…pwhando ili pali ponse…ngakhale ku lilongwe sangalalani!

  101. congrats to the great champs of zambia ,iwatched the final on our SBS tv and found it most exciting
unlike many world cup games which were a cure for insomnia.

  102. From the terraces, it is particularly gratiffying to hear of how much support our neighbours and both the SADC and COMESA regions have given us. As Zambians we feel proud to be torch bearers of the region when it mattered most. we have done it for Zambia and the Region. Thanks you all for the support!!!!!

  103. NOTHING COMES ON A SILVER SLATE FOR SURE AND ZAMBIA TO BE CROWNED AFRICA’S CHAMPIONS FOR 2012 COMES WITH IT DEDICATION FROM THE ZAMBIAN LADS WHO HAVE GIVEN THEIR ALL TO THE COUNTRY AND OF COURSE THE MOST DISCIPLINED TEAM OF THE TOURNAMENT. I GUESS THIS CLEARS THE MANY PSYCHICS OF PEOPLE WHO THOUGHT THAT ZAMBIA WILL NEVER MAKE TO THE APEX OF THE TOURNAMENT. BRAVO ZAMBIA FOR MAKING US PROUD AND LIFTING TO THE ZAMBIAN FLAG TO HIGHER HEIGHTS………

  104. Can FIFA do somethings just now. There are under_dogs who are occupying some spaces they dont deserve. e.g. Ivory_Coast, Ghana, Senegal.

  105. Great Kalu Unopposed At AGM – A Must!

It has taken the Great Kalusha Bwalya 6 years with the current national soccer team to achieve its desired goal for the first time in Zambian soccer history . Disgruntled soccer patrons frustrated and criticized him but he stood steadfast as he new what was at stake. The re-appointment of Herve Renard raised concerns but genuine soccer fans supported it as a tactical and brilliant move.

Come 31st March, 2012 let him go unopposed at the FAZ annual general meeting as president of FAZ so that in two years time we can see Zambia at the world cup for the first time. We need a patron with a soccer heart and not one to simply fill his pockets.
Great Kalu, we shall rally behind you!

  106. Good morning Champions of Africa. I am Zimbabwean but you would never believe how happy I was in the early hours of this morning. I even heard some people celebrate too when I thought everyone was sleeping. Thank you Zambia for winning it on behalf of Southern Africa.

  107. Well done to the mighty Chipolopolo for raising the Southern African flag, as a South African i not only congratulate you but join in the celebrations. no team deserved it morethan Zambia. Its the second time the trophy stays down South but more remarkable is the fact that unlike Bafana bafana, Zambia won it far away from Home.

    Shapa Chipolopolo Shapa!!!!!!!!!

  108. The vuvuzela’s are getting nosier as the time approcahes for the National Teams’ arrival. The office has gone quiet…I cant believe we still dont have a public holiday. May the team arrive safely.

  109. thank you Chipolopolo for making the whole of Southern Region Proud, i was watching the match in a packed bar in Harare, Zimbabwe and waal the celebrations were too much. you proved all critics wrong soccer history moving from predominant north & west to southern. congrads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  110. Our game is bola. Chipolopolo is our id. What a satisfying competition. Look: iv coast sandwiched between ghana and senegal just for Zambia’s bite! Don’t kubeba … libya, e. guinea and sudan were scraps. Bayaweh twatasha.

  111. How many minutes please before the boys arrive? i fill like going home. it was crazy in solwezi i wonder how it was in Lusaka. people walking naked.

  112. My people, my people. We are celebrating the great works of our lads- The Copper Bullets aka Chipolopolo. Let us not weary our souls by attending to such negative and narrow mindedness like Mushots # 2 Next time you see her comment (esp negative ones) just pretend like you didn’t see her comment. She’s very tempting and makes people say what they didn’t intend to. Let us keep the spirit burning and continue in our celebrations wherever we are. God bless my land-Zambia, God bless my people

  113. The whole world congratulating us, for growth we did this for Africa, for the overlooked we did this for east, central and Southern Africa.
